Mary Summers Boger, 101
MOCKSVILLE — Mary Belle Summers Boger, 101, Greenhill Road, died Sunday (July 18, 1999) at her home after several months of declining health.
Born June 8, 1898, in Davie County, Mrs. Boger was a homemaker and a member of Center United Methodist Church.
Her husband, John William Boger, and a son, Clay Boger, preceded her in death.
Survivors include son Ned Boger, Mocksville; daughters Mrs. Wade (Johnsie Mae) Spears, McAdenville, and Barbara Boger, Mocksville; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Services: 4 p.m. Wednesday, Center United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. William Wambaugh and Dr. S.B. Warner. The body will be placed in the church at 3:30. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Eaton Funeral Home.

Rosetta Haynes Williams
KANNAPOLIS — Rosetta Haynes Williams, 92, 204 Heintz Ave., died Sunday (July 18, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after four months of declining health and two weeks of serious illness.
Born April 18, 1907, in Wilkes County, Mrs. Williams was a daughter of the late Isaac and Sarah Haynes. She retired in 1972 from Cannon Mills washcloth department. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church.,
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edd Williams, who died July 18, 1980, and a daughter, Inez Williams Barger.
Survivors include son Guy Williams, Kannapolis; sisters Edna Ledbetter and Cleo Fortner, both of Kannapolis, and Myrtle Wilson, Salisbury; brother Jack Haynes, Kannapolis, three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Midway United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Billy Rintz. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Lady’s Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of son, Guy Williams, 300 E. Fourth St.

Lucy Morgan
The funeral will be Thursday for Lucy Morgan, 90, Salisbury, formerly of Charlotte, who died Monday (July 19, 1999) at the Salisbury Lutheran Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 13, 1908, in Rowan County, Miss Morgan was a daughter of the late Jarvey A. and Docia Ann Culp Morgan. Educated in the Rowan County schools, she had worked for Ivey’s and Montaldo’s department stores in Charlotte. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Charlotte, and a former member of Flatcreek Primitive Baptist Church, Richfield.
Survivors include a sister-in-law and brother-in-law in addition to several nieces and nephews.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Flatcreek Primitive Baptist Church, Richfield, conducted by Elder Gene Hogan., Burial, church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 10:30 a.m.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell.

Aubrey K. Cheek Jr., 61, Salisbury, died Monday (July 19, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center,
Summersett Funeral Home in charge.
Edith McNelly Robinson
Edith McNelly Robinson, 75, 1045 Oak St., Jacksonville, Fla., a Rowan County native, died Saturday (July 17, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 26, 1924, Mrs. Robinson was a daughter of the late David Steven and Effie Menius McNelly. A homemaker, she was educated in the Rowan County schools.
Her husband, Lawrence Robinson, and a son, Edward LaRue, died in 1998.
Survivors include son Bruce LaRue, Mount Ulla; daughter Jane Jones, Jacksonville, Fla.; brother Steven Lynn McNelly, Mount Ulla; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services: The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held in Jacksonville, Fla., at a later date.
Evergreen Cremation Services was in charge.

EAST SPENCER — Funeral services will be held Thursday for Odell “Bubba” Kiser Jr., 65, 608 Pinetree Drive, who died Saturday (July 17, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, after a period of declining health.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion Church, conducted by Dr. Donald C. Holness. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery, Salisbury.

Sallie Minish O’Kelley
CONCORD — Sallie Minish O’Kelley, 85, a resident of Concord Place, formerly of 2401 Penninger Road, died Sunday (July 18, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center.
Born May 13, 1914, in Banks County, Ga., Mrs. O’Kelley was a daughter of the late Isom and Florence Langston Minish. She had retired 21 years ago from Cannon Mills, Plant 1, spinning room, Kannapolis. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Her husband, Guy W. O’Kelley, died Dec. 24, 1983.
Survivors include daughter Mrs. Ray H. (Hazel O.)Cline, Concord; brother J.D. Minish, Commerce, Ga.; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.
Services: 8 tonight, Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Dallas Bennett. Burial, 11 a.m. Wednesday, Carolina Memorial Park.

'Teen’ Wallace Brown
MOORESVILLE — Collean “Teen” Wallace Brown, 75, Dingler Avenue, died Monday (July 19, 1999) at Genesis Elder Care.
Born Aug. 2, 1923, in Wilkes County, she was a daughter of the late Coleman and Joncie Jones Wallace. A retired employee of Burlington Industries after 44 years of service, she was a member of Mooresville Church of God.
Her husband, John Garland Brown, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons Robert “Bobby” L. and Tommy W. Brown, both of Mooresville; daughters Linda B. Oliphant, Glenda B. Karriker andJean B. Freeze, all of Mooresville; 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Services: 4 p.m. Thursday, Mount Mourne Church of God, conducted by the Rev. W. Lawrence Ownbey. Burial, Glenwood Memorial Park.

Aubrey Kenneth Cheek Jr.
The funeral will be Thursday for Aubrey Kenneth Cheek Jr., 61, 134 Spicewood Lane, who died Monday (July 19, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born May 19, 1938, in Hendersonville, Mr. Cheek was a son of the late Aubrey K. and Rilda Hill Cheek.
He received his associate degree from Gardner Webb College, his A.B. degree from Belmont Abbey and his master’s degree and education specialist degree from Appalachian State University.
He was employed by Rowan-Salisbury Schools as coordinator of the vocational education apprentice program, working through the Employment Security Commission to help students find job placement. He had taught at Knox Middle School and was once a dean at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.
Mr. Cheek was a member of First Baptist Church, the choir, the Men’s Chorus. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the gospel singing group, “The Happy Tones,” Fulton Masonic Lodge and the NEA and NCVEA, teaching associations. He served on the board of directors of the Vocational Rehabilitational Workshop.
Survivors include wife Mildred Alexander Cheek, whom he married in 1962; son Rick Cheek, Wilmington; daughter Kelley Cheek, Salisbury; sister Jean Barnes, Gastonia; and one granddaughter.
Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Phillip A. Cooley. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, City Memorial Park.
