Ralph Morgan Kimball, 68, Salisbury, died Wednesday (July 14, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Born Jan. 16, 1973, he was the son of the late Eugene Lee and Myrtle Morgan Lee. He was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors include sisters Gladys Kimball, Hazel Clary and Grace Kepley, all of Salisbury.
Visitation: 1-1:50 p.m. Friday, Summersett Funeral Home.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Summersett Memorial Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Tommy Conder, Park Avenue United Methodist Church, and Rev. Davi Kelly, Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.

Mildred Johnson Woods
The funeral for Mildred Johnson, 74, 310 S. West St., will be held Sunday. Mrs. Johnson died at her home Tuesday (July 13, 1999) after several months of declining health.
Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Glorious Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, with Bishop Walter D. Tracey officiating.
Visitation: 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at the church. The family will be at the home on South West Street the remainder of the time.

Harry Ray Davidson
ALBEMARLE—Harry Ray Davidson, 80, 33420 Old Salisbury Road, died Wednesday (Juy 14, 1999) at Britthaven of the Piedmont.
He was the son of the late Aaron Langley and Lottie Ellen Mason Davidson and was born in McClellandtown, Pa., on Oct. 28, 1918. He was a retired mechanical engineer with Lever Brothers, Baltimore. He was a member of Silver Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Elva Hilda Smith Davidson; daughters Beverly Braun, Albemarle, Darlene Howard, Linthicum, Md., and Dianne D’Alberto, Finksburg, Md.; brothers Aaron Davidson, Orlando, Fla., and Samuel George Davidson, Baltimore; sisters Betty Lindsay, Baltimore, and Molly Cox, Monroe.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside service, 4 p.m., Saturday, Silver Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Norwood, with the Rev. Dennis Helms presiding.
Visitation: No formal receiving hours. Friends welcome at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle, anytime Friday or Saturday.

Gary Turner
CONCORD — Gary Turner, 67, 3759 Centergrove Road, died Wednesday (July 14, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center after three months of declining health.
He was born March 20, 1932, in Cabarrus County to the late James Clay and Flora Hatley Turner. He was employed with Oliver Martin Battery Salvage for 30 years and later with Frank York Auto Recycling for several years until his retirement in 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Fink Turner; sons Derrail D. Turner and Terry D. Turner, both of Concord; daughter Paula Turner Wallace, Southport; brother James Clay Turner, Rockwell; sisters Willie Ramsey, Concord, and Hazel Fletchall, Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis, with the Rev. Marler Starnes presiding. Burial at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Family will be at the home of Derrail D. Turner, 2550 Penninger Road, the rest of the time.

James Otto Wilks
James Otto Wilks, 85, 204 S. Lloyd St., died Thursday (July 15, 1999) at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation after a period of declining health.
Born June 26, 1914, in Oconee County, S.C., Mr. Wilks was a son of the late Mary Glenn and James William Wilks. He was educated in the Oconee County schools. He was the owner, founder and operator of J.O. Wilks and Son Home Improvement and owner and founder of J.O. Wilks Wood Yard.
He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he had served as chairman of the trustee board, church treasurer and Sunday school bus driver.
He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny A. Wilks.
Survivors include wife Iva Brown Wilks; son Dennis J. Wilks, Salisbury; sister Lula Wilks Keaton, Salisbury; two grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday, Mount Zion Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Nilous Avery, pastor. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation: Noon Monday at the church.

Betty June Williams
KANNAPOLIS—Betty June Daniels Williams, 68, died Thursday (July 15, 1999) at Concord Nursing Center, Concord, after 10 years of declining health.
A member of Lane Street Baptist Church, she worked at Black’s Drug Store soda fountain. She had also worked as a clerk for Rose’s, Eckerd’s and Kmart.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Albert C. Williams; son Paul Anthony Helms, Virginia; brother Fred Daniels, Statesville; sister Pauline Bradley, Chicago; and a granddaughter.
Services: 4 p.m. Saturday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis. Burial at Carolina Memorial Park, with the Rev. Gene Edwards presiding.
Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Jack Sanford Roark
Jack Sanford Roark, 79, 2006 Robin Road, died Friday (July 16, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after two months of declining health.
Born Dec. 29, 1919, in Danville, Va., Mr. Roark was the son of the late Cora Alice Shellhorse and Sandy Greene Roark. Educated in the Danville schools, he was a graduate of George Washington High School.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a conductor and brakeman for Southern Railway for 40 years before retiring in 1979.
He was a member of Southern Railway Retirees, United Transportation Union Local 783, Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Post 342 and First Baptist Church of Salisbury, where he was a former deacon. He was also a member of the Christian Men’s Fellowship at First Baptist Church of Spencer.
His wife, Marian Leona Shelton Roark, died April 20, 1999.
Survivors include son Jack S. Roark Jr., Lewisburg, W.Va. ; daughter Mrs. Billy (Pat) R. Payne, Salisbury; brothers Ray W. Roark, Montgomery, Ala., Stanley G. Roark, Danville, Va., and Charles E. Roark, Arlington, Va.; sister Mrs. Frank (Alice) Grogan, Danville, Va.; one step-grandchild; five step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Summersett Memorial Chapel, conducted by Dr. Philliip A. Cooley, senior minister of First Baptist Church of Salisbury, and the Rev. Tom Roberts. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park. military graveside rites by the Rowan Veterans Council.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday, Summersett Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the Robin Road residence.
