Richard Victor Miceli
MOCKSVILLE - Richard Victor Miceli, 57, of Highway 64 West, died Tuesday (July 6, 1999) in an accidental drowning.
A native of Baltimore, he had lived in Mocksville for the past five years. Retired from Eastern Air Lines, he was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include wife Jane Miceli; son Tony Miceli, of the home; brother Francis Miceli Jr., Baltimore, and sister Patricia Yockel, also of Baltimore.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Graham Funeral Home is in charge.
Holland B. Bost Jr.
The funeral will be Saturday for Holland Brookshure Bost Jr., 75, formerly of Lincolnton, who died June 29, 1999, at the Brian Center, Mooresville.
Born Aug. 23, 1923, in Greensboro, Mr. Bost was a son of the late H.B. and Hattie Juanita Bost. He had retired from the U.S. Navy after 27 years in the military.
Survivors include two grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Saturday, Kannapolis Cemetery.

Everett Lee Whitley
Everett Lee Whitley, 81, Dayton, Ohio, died Saturday (July 3, 1999) at Hospice of Dayton.
Born Dec. 25, 1917, in Concord, Mr. Whitley was a son of the late David L. and Viola Walters Whitley. He had been employed by Cannon Mills for more than 50 years. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Pacific with the U.S. Army 4578 Quartermaster Service Co. during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Hinson Whitley, and daughters Brenda Lee and Linda Lee Whitley.
Survivors include a son, the Rev. Terry L. Whitley, Dayton, Ohio; sister Carolyn Sides; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Whitley’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Larry Irvin. Burial, Oak Wood Cemetery, Concord.
Visitation: 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
James Lee Bost
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — James Lee Bost, 67, Callen Avenue, died Tuesday (July 6, 1999) at Monongalia General Hospital.
Born Jan. 25, 1932, in Salisbury, N.C., Mr. Bost was a son of the late William R. and Edith Ides Bost. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, he had retired from Consolidated Coal Co., Humphery No. 7 Mines, in 1975 after 25 years as a shop foreman. A member of Spruce Street United Methodist Church, he was involved with Boy Scout Troop 50 and was a Cub Scout master.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Ann Price Bost; sons James Lee Bost Jr. and Gary A. Bost, both of Morgantown; brothers John and Bob Bost, both of Salisbury, N.C., and Jim R. Bost, Kannapolis, N.C.; sisters Edith Bost, Maryland, and Betty Bost, Salisbury, N.C.; three stepchildren Garfield Sawyer, Georgia Roberts and Glenda Newbold; three step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Spruce Street United Methodist Church, conducted by Dr. Roger L. Smith. Burial, Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery. military rites by VFW Post 548.

Virginia Morrison Williams
Virginia Morrison Williams, 68, of 522 S. Caldwell St. died Wednesday (July 7, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after several months of declining health.

Nannie R. Vanderford
Nannie Roberts Vanderford, 86, Big Elm Retirement Center, Kannapolis, formerly of 7905 Old Concord Road, died Sunday (July 11, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born June 16, 1912, in Georgia, Mrs. Vanderford was a daughter of the late Sally Dale and Delmos Edgar Roberts. Educated in the Georgia schools, she had retired from the sewing room at Cannon Mills’ Plant 1. She was a member of Mount Hope United Church of Church.
Her husband, Ralph Thomas Vanderford, died May 20, 1980.
She is survived by a sister, Betty Kendrick, China Grove.
Services: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Northcrest Chapel, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, conducted by the Rev. Paul Pickler, pastor of Mount Hope United Church of Christ. Burial, church cemetery.

James ‘Pete’ Connell
SOUTHPORT – James Carl “Pete” Connell, 59, of 321 N. E. 62nd St., died Saturday (July 10, 1999) at his home.
Born Feb. 3, 1940, in Davie County, he was a son of Mildred McIntyee Connell Ward of Mocksville and the late Carl Stewart Connell. A veteran of the U. S. Army, he served during the Korean War. Mr. Connell moved from China Grove to Oak Island in 1993.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include wife Hilda Morris Connell; daughter Frances Bradford, Fruitland, Md.; stepdaughters Carrie Kuusinen, China Grove, Debra Allen, Landis, and Tana Calloway, Concord; sister Judy Talley, Woodleaf; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services: 7 a.m. Tuesday, Malcolm Register Park at Oak Island. A second memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Gay’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Salisbury.

Sharon Delores Click
Sharon Delores Click, 38, of 525 N. Ellis St., died Saturday (July 10, 1999) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 24, 1960, in Salisbury, she was a daughter of Rosa Graham Click of the home and William Click of Detroit, Mich.
Mrs. Click attended Salisbury High School and was a graduate of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. She was last employed as a nursing assistant and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters Shatoya R. Click, Shawane D. Saulters and Samantha R. Saulters, all of Salisbury; brother Kenneth Click, Salisbury; sisters Jackie D. Click Propst and Barbara D. Click, both of Salisbury; paternal grandmother, Willie Etta Iverson, Detroit, Mich.; and maternal grandmother Rose Reid, Granite Quarry.

James ‘Red’ Creed
MOUNT PLEASANT - James M. “Red” Creed, 82, of 766 N. Skyland Drive, died Sunday (July 11, 1999) at the Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born April 24, 1917, in Wilkes County, he was a son of the late Millard and Dora Childress Creed. He ws a member of Miami Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife Marie Wood Creed; son Darrell Creed, Mount Pleasant; brother Pete Creed, Mount Pleasant; sisters Maggie Cox and Mary Jane Faggart, both of Concord, and Daisy Shoemaker, Mount Pleasant; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Miami Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Lewis Whittington. Burial in the church cemetery.

William Dunn Dewitt
ADVANCE — William Dunn Dewitt, 79, died at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem on Monday (July 12, 1999).
Born Dec. 20, 1919, in Davie County, he was the son of the late Lilliam Alexander Dunn and Donnie Viola Williams. He was a retired carpenter and a veteran of the U.S. Army. A member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, he was a guitarist for the Dunn Family Band.
His wife, Mary Ruth Dunn, died in 1963.
Survivors include companion Lucy S. Jenkins of the home; daughter Jynn Gobble, Mocksville; stepsons Jerry Jenkins, King, and Bobby Jenkins, Advance; stepdaughter Barbara J. Pardue, King; brother W.A. Dunn Jr., Advance; sisters Mary Pauline Wood, Windsor, Va., Vida Whitman, Cooleemee, and Margie Craver, Lexington; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.

Hoyt Reed Hallman
KANNAPOLIS — Hoyt Reed Hallman, 77, 1316 Dogwood Ave., died Monday (July 12, 1999) at his home after six months of declining health.
Born May 11, 1922, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Thomas D. and Beatrice Hallman. He retired from Fieldcrest Cannon Plant 10 as a supervisor/foreman in the weave room after 40 years with the company. A 1939 graduate of J. W. Cannon High School, he was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include wife Louise C. Hallman; son Thomas R. Hallman, Kannapolis; daughters Linda H. James, Jeanette H. Franklin and Brenda H. Aldridge, all of Kannapolis; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Johnnie Griggs Webster
ROCKWELL — Johnnie Jeanette Griggs Webster, 79, 207 Depot St., died Sunday (July 11, 1999) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after a week of declining health.
Born April 1, 1920 in Chesterfield County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late John A. and Martha R. Moore Griggs. She was a member of Shady Brook Baptist Church.
Her husband, Woodrow “Woody” Wilson Webster, died in 1967.
Survivors include daughter s Janet Webster Dalton, Concord, and Martha Webster Helms, Rockwell; sister Doziene Waldrop, Greensboro; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services: 4 p.m., Wednesday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Wes Judy officiating.
