Raymell Furr Canaday
Funeral services for Mrs. Raymell Elizabeth Furr Canaday, 62, of 308 Highland Avenue, Concord, were held June 6 at Roberta Baptist Church, Rev. Steve Pennington, Rev. Ray Rippy, and Rev. Leonard Aycock presiding. Burial was in Carolina Memorial park in Kannapolis.
Mrs. Canaday died on June 3, 2002 at NorthEast Medical Center. She was born on November l1, 1939 in Cabarrus County and was a homemaker. Her late parents were Vadie McClellan and Cleve Monroe Furr.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Canaday of the home, daughter, Ann and husbgand Robert Morton of Concord; son, Randy and wife Renee Wilson of Concord; and a number of step children and grandchildren.
EC Little
Ephriam C. "E.C." Little of Oakboro died April 14, 2002 at Sardis Oaks Nursing Center in Charlotte. A funeral was held April 16 at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel with Elder Ervin Hatley and Rev. Judge W. Morgan Jr. presiding. Burial was in Oakboro Cemetery.
Mr. Little was born January 19, 1914 in Oakboro, the son of Martha Ann Howard Little and Henry H. Little. He was married
to the late Vergie Louise Austin Little.
He was the owner of E.C. Little Grocery and Garage and he was a retired welding instructor at Anson Technical College.
Survivors include a daughter and husband, Jo Little, and Harvey Tucker of Wadesboro; a son and wife, Larry and Rita Little of Oakboro; a daughter and husband, Annette Little and William C. Helms Jr., of New Bern; a son, Gerald Little of Oakboro; a sister, Villie Ann Little Williams of Oakboro; three brothers, Richard C. Little of Albemarle, Ralph H. Little of Oakboro and Bill O. Little of England. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Larry Meadors
A funeral service for Larry Marvin Meadors, 63, of Oakboro, was held April 11 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland with Dr. Terrell Watts presiding. Burial was in Oakboro Cemetery. Mr. Meadors died April 9, 2002 in Stanly Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1938 in Indiana. His parents were Lita Richey Meadors and Arnold W. Meadors. He served in the U.S. 82nd Airborne. He was a member of Locust Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Callias Vann Meadors of Oakboro; a daughter, Cheryl Meadors of Stanfield; two sons, Larry Meadors of Oakboro and Tommy Meadors of Stanfield; four sisters, Frances Funk and Lula Hensley, both of Indiana, Lois Scott of California and Jean Spicer of Deputy, Ind.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
J. Van Huneycutt
A funeral for J. Van Huneycutt was held April 13 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Phillip Hunter presiding. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Oakboro with military honors performed by the Albemarle-Stanly County DAV at graveside. Mr. Huneycutt died April 10, 2002 in NorthEast Medical Center. He was born September 21, 1922 in Stanly County. He worked at South Central Oil Company for 40 years. He worked as a Stanly County auxillary deputy, Albemarle city police reserve, was an active church member and deacon and loved to play horseshoes.
He is survived by his wife, Rella Mae Barbee Huneycutt of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Miky and Marilyn Huneycutt of Oakboro; a daughter and son-in-law Zoe and Tony Burleson of Albemarle; one brother, Gaston Huneycutt, and a sister, Mildred Smith of Albemarle; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Richard Culp
Richard Alonzo Culp died April 10, 2002 at Stanly Memorial Hospital. He was 80. A funeral service was held April 12 at Sweet Home Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Bowers presiding. Burial was in Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle.
He was born August 19, 1921 in Stanly County, the son of Patty Miller Culp and Floyd Oscar Culp. He was a retired pipe fitter at Alcoa in Badin. He served in the United States Navy in World War II. He was married
to the late Edith Speight Culp. He was a member of the 25-year club at Alcoa.
Survivors include five sons, Richard, Floyd (Micky), Douglas and Jerry all of Albemarle and Roy Culp of Badin; five daughters, Ms. Brenda Whitley and Mrs. Beverly Lowder of Albemarle, Mrs. Kathy Hatley of Badin and Mrs. Sharon Fraley and Mrs. Jeanne Moore also of Albemarle; four brothers, Claude, Carl and Allen Culp, all of Albemarle, and Pete Culp of Badin; four sisters, Lilly Harris of Burlington, Peggy Harkey of Fayetteville, Gwyn Culp of Badin and Patty Sink of Salisbury; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Horace Whitley
Horace Odell Whitley, 91, of Oakboro, died April 13, 2002 in Stanly Memorial Hospital. A graveside service was held at Smith Grove Cemetery with Elder Larry Austin presiding.
Mr. Whitley was born April 3, 1911 in Stanly County, the son of Pinkie Smith Whitley and Christopher Obediah Whitley. He attended Liberty Hill. He graduated from Oakboro High School in 1929 and was a retired brick mason and cattle farmer.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Jennie Eudy Whitley of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine W. and Bill Hahn of Charlotte and a daughter and son-in-law Lynette W. and Henry Anderson of Oakboro; a sister, Erma W. Lowder of Stanfield, and a brother, Bob Whitley of Oakboro; four grandsons, Scott and Todd Hahn of Charlotte and Travis and Neil Anderson of Oakboro; and four great-grandsons, Jonathan and Justin Hahn, and Colton and Marshall Anderson.

Beatrice Hatley
Funeral services for Beatrice Elizabeth Thomas Hatley, 83, of Oakboro, were held February 18, 2002, at Big Lick Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jeff Springer presiding.
Burial was in the chuch cemetery.
Mrs. Hatley died February 16, 2002, at Stanly Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 16, 1918, in Stanly County, daughter of Elsie Thomas and Henry and Arabelle Thomas. Mrs. Hatley was a retired cafeteria worker at West Stanly High School. She was a former BMU member and children's Sunday School teacher for 30 years. She was a member of Big Lick Baptist Church.
Survivors include husband, Hubert L. Hatley of the home; sons, Larry Hatley of Oakboro, Kenneth Hatley of the home, and Tony Hatley of Oakboro; brother, Houston Thomas of Midland; half brothers, Howard Thomas, Jerry Thomas and Ronnie Thomas, all of Stanfield; half sister, Jeanette Hinson of Stanfield; grandchildren, Leslie Hatley Murray and Jennifer L. Hatley, both of Stanfield.
Vergie Shoe
Funeral services for Vergie Irene Hatley Shoe, 83, were held February 17, 2002, at Salem Unite Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Denton presiding.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Shoe died February 15, 2002, at Stanly Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 4, 1918, in Stanly County, daughter of Zora Ville Morton Hatley and John William Hatley. Mrs. Shoe was a retired homemaker and a member of the Adult Ladies Sunday School class at Salem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Renee Shoe of Mt. Pleasant; brother, J.T. "Buck" Hatley of Albemarle; and sister, Faye H. Gordon of Albemarle.
Kimberly Parrish
Funeral services for Kimberly Michell Parrish, 20, of Albemarle, were held February 18, 2002, at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lowell Brown presiding.
Burial was in Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery in Norwood.
Miss Parrish died February 15, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center.
She was born June 25, 1981, in Stanly County, daughter of Herman Don Parrish of Albemarle and Beverly Sue Dehart Byers of Mooresville. Miss Parrish was attending Stanly Community College and would have graduated in March.
Survivors include her mother and father; brother, Donald Lee Parrish of Albemarle; and maternal grandmother, Margaret Dehart of Greensboro.
Wayne Love
Funeral services for Wayne Thomas Love, 60, of Stanfield, were held February 14, 2002, at Love's Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim White and the Rev. Tom Ziegler presiding.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Love died February 12, 2002.
He was born April 11, 1941, in Stanly County, son of Ethel Scott Love and Lonnie Simpson Love. Mr. Love was a brick mason with Ronnie Furr.
Survivors include wife, Melvia Frances Austin Love of Stanfield; son, Dale Love of Stanfield; daughter, Wanda Wingard of Fayetteville; sister, Carolyn Carlisle of Concord and Peggy Long of Stanfield; brother, Bob Love of Locust, Brown Love and Clyde Love, both of Stanfield; and four grandsons, Joshua Wingard, Jeremy Wingard, Cliffton Love and Tyler Love.
