CHADBOURN -- Alton Devon Holland, 38, of 125 Bullard Road died Saturday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Zion Wall Free Will Baptist Church by Elder B.F. Shaw. Burial will be in Belvue Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.
Mr. Holland is survived by two daughters, Tisha Mason and Tracey McFadden, both of Chadbourn; a son, Anthony Mason of Chadbourn; his mother, Jessie M. Smith of the home; a sister, Vivian Odom of Chadbourn; and four brothers, George G. Holland, Jerry D. Holland, Johnny L. Holland and LaMorris Chestnut, all of Chadbourn.
Oswald Walker (dated Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997)
HALLSBORO -- Oswald Walker, 49, of Hallsboro died Monday in Elizabethtown Nursing Center.

ROCKINGHAM -- Lewis Flowers, 86, of Rockingham died Saturday in Palmer Hinson Care Center.

Brighton O. Berry (dated Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997)
LATTA, S.C. -- Brighton Olee Berry, 96, of Latta died Monday in McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Catfish Creek Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Lawrence Hester. Arrangements are being handled by Kannaday’s Funeral Home.
Among Mr. Berry’s survivors is a daughter, Virginia Heckerman of Fayetteville, N.C.
Phillip A. Stone (dated Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997)
LUMBERTON -- Phillip Alan Stone, 42, of N.C. 72 East died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Long Branch Baptist Church by the Revs. Joe Sellers and Arvil Stephens. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery.
Mr. Stone is survived by his wife, Marie B. Stone of the home; a daughter, Amanda M. Stone of Lumberton; his parents, W.A. and Janice Stone of Lumberton; a brother, Stuart Stone of Lumberton; two sisters, Jennifer Culbreth and Penny Thomas, both of Lumberton; and one grandchild.

John ‘Sunny’ Dixon (dated Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997)
MAXTON -- John Henry “Sunny” Dixon, 50, of 407 E. Holly Court died Friday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Franklin Wooten. Burial will be in McLeod Cemetery.
Mr. Dixon is survived by a son, James Dixon of Greensboro; his mother, Dolly B. Dixon of Lumberton; five sisters, Annie D. McQueen of Maxton, Cattie Hayes, Lillie P. Dixon and Henrietta Dixon, all of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Annie Davis of Laurinburg; and two brothers, Willie R. Dixon of Chadbourn and John McRae of Charlotte.

ROWLAND -- Sandy McCallum, 65, of Rowland died Monday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Richard L. Wood (dated Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997)
NORTH PORT, Fla. -- Richard Lee Wood, 67, of North Port, formerly of Lumber Bridge, N.C., died Saturday.
The funeral was conducted Monday in Farley Funeral Home.
Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Rosabelle Wood of North Port; three sons, James L. Wood of Tulsa, Okla., Donald P. Wood of Bakersfield, Calif., and Michael R. Wood of North Port; a daughter, Celeste V. Wood of North Port; and seven grandchildren.
Garner L. Rice (dated Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997)
ST. PAULS -- Retired Army Staff Sgt. Garner Lee Rice, 76, of 508 W. Broad St. died Sunday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Green Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Raymond Wade. Burial with full military honors will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Rice is survived by his wife, Annie J. Rice; two daughters, Tina N. Rice of the home and Sandra Cribb of Raeford; a son, Garner L. Rice Jr. of Woodstock, Ga.; two stepsons, Jimmy Jackson of Woodstock and Dennis Sibbett of St. Pauls; a stepdaughter, Susie Mussellwhite of Lumberton; a sister, Geraldine Franklin of Waverly, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.

Charles H. Ogburn (dated Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997)
DUNN -- Charles Hunter Ogburn, 72, of Box 190, Clayhole Road, died Monday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.
He was a farmer.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel in Benson by Elder J.M. Mewborn. Entombment will be in Devotional Gardens.
Mr. Ogburn is survived by his wife, Joyce T. Ogburn; a son, Charles D. Ogburn; two daughters, Gloria O. Barbour of Garner and Su Lou O. Wellons of Erwin; four sisters, Doris Taylor of Chocowinity, Juanita Hudson of Benson, Marjorie Scott of Angier and Joyce Oliver of Elizabeth City; and three granddaughters.

ROWLAND -- Calvin Coolidge Hammonds Sr., 71, of Route 1, Box 144, died Saturday.
Mr. Hammonds was a lifelong member of Hopewell Methodist Church and was a retired construction worker and farmer.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hopewell Methodist Church by the Revs. Patrick Cummings, Larry Lowery, James H. Woods and Roger Hammonds. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hammonds is survived by his wife, Lola R. Hammonds of the home; four sons, Calvin C. Hammonds Jr. and Kermit O. Hammonds, both of Rowland, James C. Hammonds of Pembroke and Roger Hammonds of Crownpoint, N.M.; a daughter, Debra H. Branch of Rowland; two brothers, William Hammonds of Southgate, Mich., and Cecil Hammonds of Orlando, Fla.; four sisters, Roberta Lowry and Clara Lowry, both of Pembroke, Mary S. Hunt of Thorofare, N.J., and Rebecca Reynolds of Fort Mill, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Ernest Leon Walker, 78, of 215 Midway Drive died Sunday in his home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Robert C. Morgan. Arrangements are being handled by J.F. Floyd Mortuary of Spartanburg.

SANFORD -- Wilbur Rudolph Rogers, 76, of 209 S. Currie Drive died Sunday in Pinelake Health Center.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Broadway town cemetery by the Rev. Kevin Meadows.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Betty L. Rogers; a son, Michael T. Stewart of Sanford; a daughter, Cheryl S. Futrell of Vass; three sisters, Margaret Patterson, Elizabeth Hallman and Christine Page, all of Broadway; and five grandchildren.

SANFORD -- Garvis A. Draughon, 61, of 2211 Dalryple St. died Sunday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
He was a member of Zion Hill Eve Ministries.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Tucker and Sons Funeral Home in Fayetteville by Bishop Halvester Gupton. Burial will be in Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in Autryville.
Mr. Draughon is survived by his wife, Georgia O. Draughon of the home; a son, Ricky Draughon of Fayetteville; two stepdaughters, Michelle Smith of Sanford and Mary Coefield of Raleigh; two stepsons, Mickey B. Foster of the home and Michael L. Foster of Raleigh; a sister, Verna M. McNatt of Fayetteville; and eight step-grandchildren.
The public will be received today from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the home of Mable Owens, Route 1, Stedman.

RALEIGH -- The Rev. Emma Stewart Johnnson, 74, of 1313 Armstrong Circle, formerly of Harnett County, died Sunday.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Neighbors Grove Holiness Church in Dunn by Overseer C.C. McNeill. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Dunn.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by five daughters, Truly Bennett, Mary Douglas and Emma L. Knight, all of Raleigh, Mary Harris of Garner and Lucille Turner of Roseville; six sons, James Johnson, Youles Johnson Jr., Johnny Johnson and Chyrea Johnson, all of Raleigh, Phillip Johnson of Garner and Joel Johnson of Kinston; a sister, Annie M. Brewington of Clayton; a brother, Danny Stewart of Clayton; 29 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 56 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
