MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Mrs. Susan Huyer Horne, 72, of Myrtle Beach died Saturday.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today in Grace Episcopal Church in Whiteville, N.C., by the Rev. Jim Taylor. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlinton, Va. Arrangments are being handled by McKenzie Mortuary of Whiteville.
Among Mrs. Horne’s survivors is a son, William H. Horne III of Whiteville.
The family will receive friends today from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m. at the church.
Douglas Peterson (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)
CLINTON -- Douglas Peterson, 57, of 101 Dogwood Circle died Monday in his home.

Rudolph Holmes (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)
Rudolph Holmes, 82, of 809 Montgomery St., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Highland House Nursing Home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Second Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Ivory E. Swann. Burial will be in Northside Cemetery.
Mr. Holmes is survived by his wife, Roberta T. Holmes of the home; and two sisters, Gertie L. Hodges of New York and Roberta Holmes of Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Tucker & Sons Funeral Home.
Richard ‘Dick’ Drake (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)
WHISPERING PINES -- Retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Richard Paul “Dick” Drake, 61, of Whispering Pines died Monday in his home.
A prayer service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Boles Funeral Home and Crematory in Southern Pines. Burial will be Friday in Bloomsburg, Pa.
Mr. Drake is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Drake of the home; two daughters, Tammy D. Watts of Melbourne, Fla., and Terri D. Rumsey of Lexington Park, Md.; a brother, Leonard Drake of Bloomsburg; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Billy C. Blackmon (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)
BLADENBORO -- Billy Charles Blackmon, 60, of Bladenboro died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bladenboro Church of God by the Rev. Jerry Edge. Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery.
Mr. Blackmon is survived by his wife, Helen P. Blackmon of the home; three daughters, Donna Blackmon and Rebecca Blackmon, both of Lumberton, and Patricia Pope of Boardman; a son, Timothy Blackmon of Bladenboro; seven sisters, Betty Anderson, Esther Edwards, Mary Autry and Linda Willoughby, all of Bladenboro, Wendy Datta of Anaheim, Calif., Frances Cain of Wilmington and Doris Cain of South Carolina; five brothers, Curtis Blackmon of Richmond, Va., Bennie Blackmon of Evergreen, John Blackmon and Sammy Blackmon, both of Bladenboro, and Thomas Cain of Thomasville; and three grandchildren.

Larry Akles Jr. (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)
Larry Akles Jr., 22, of 311 Brass Court, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Parks Chapel Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev. T. Ford. Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Mr. Akles is survived by his mother, Carolyn Bandy of the home; his father, Larry Akles Sr. of Anniston, Ala.; and a sister, Marie A. Tucker of Anniston.

Mrs. Geraldine Henderson, 73, of 1905 Stanberry St, Fayetteville, died Monday.

Mrs. Dellie T. Rippy (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)
HILLSBOROUGH -- Mrs. Dellie Taylor Rippy, 83, of 606 W. Benton died Monday in Durham Regional Hospital in Durham.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Walker’s Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Curis Tyler. Burial will be in Hillsborough town cemetery.
Among Mrs. Rippy’s survivors is a daughter, Diana R. Blackwood of Fayetteville.
Jessie J. Smith (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)
SPRING LAKE -- Jessie Jenkins Smith, 63, of 233 Cooper Ave. died Monday in Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.

Donald D. Neilson (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)
Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Donald Downs Neilson, 77, of Fayetteville died Nov. 5 in his home.
Mr. Neilson was a bomber pilot during World War II. He was a professor of history at North Carolina State University and Fayetteville State University.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Pope Chapel on Pope Air Force Base. Arrangements are being handled by Cape Fear Crematory.
Mr. Neilson is survived by his wife, Mildred F. Neilson of the home; two sons, Michael R. Neilson and Bruce L. Neilson, both of the home; his stepmother, Irma L. Neilson of Salt Lake City; two brothers, Nick Luke and Roger Luke, both of Utah; three sisters, Carol Neilson and Marilyn Neilson, both of Salt Lake City, and Linda Heslington of Chatham, N.J.; and two granddaughters.
Memorials may be made to the North Carolina Cancer Society, to the American Heart Association, or to a favorite charity.
Martin L. Webb (dated Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997)
RAEFORD -- Martin Lee Webb, 73, of Raeford died Monday in Autumn Care of Raeford nursing home.
Mr. Webb was a member of Raeford First Baptist Church, the Woodman of the World for 50 years and was a lifelong member of the Southern Pines Elks Club. He was a past master of Raeford Masonic Lodge No. 306, and was retired from civil service at Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Raeford Cemetery by the Revs. John Hinkle and Don Satterwhite.
Mr. Webb is survived by his wife, Ann N. Webb of Raeford; three sons, Marty Webb of Raeford, Lin Webb of Fayetteville and David Webb of Hope Mills; two brothers, James Webb of Tarboro and Davis Webb of Macclesfield; six sisters, Marie Causey, Ruby Webb and Doris Webb, all of Macclesfield, Margaret Webb of Atlantic Beach, Lou E. Poole of Zebulon and Vera W. Miller of Gloucester; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Crumpler Funeral Home.

LINDEN -- Junnie Hair, 75, of 2876 Duck Pond Road died Sunday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Palestine Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville by the Rev. William Bateman. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hair is survived by his wife, Elsie M. Hair of the home; a son, Kenny Hair of Linden; a brother, Ruth Hair of Anderson Creek; and two grandchildren.

LAURINBURG -- David “Jack” Dudley of 505 N. Caledonia Road died Saturday.

Mr. Dudley is survived by his wife, Gladys Dudley of the home; two daughters, Mary L. Johnson and Roslyn Sullivan, both of Charlotte; two sisters, Thedus McDowell of Dunn and Dorothy Dudley of New York; a brother, Paul Dudley of Dunn; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Davis is survived by a daughter, Brittany Davis of the home; two sons, Chad L. Davis and Roderick Davis, both of the home; her mother and stepfather, Myrtle and Willie Davis of Dunn; her father, James F. Crosby of Dunn; three brothers, Randy L. Davis of Dunn, Vincent E. Davis of Virginia and James A. Crosby of Baltimore; five sisters, Vivian Jones, Sandra G. Frink and Evelyn G. Davis, all of Dunn, and Deborah J. Williams and Brenda McNeill, both of Linden; and her grandmothers, Martha Nash and Laura Davis, both of Dunn, and Dorothy Crosby of Linden.
