PATTERSON, N.J. -- Mrs. Annie L. Johnson Davis, 52, of Patterson, formerly of Laurel Hill, N.C., died Dec. 6.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Laurel Hill First Missionary Baptist Church in Laurel Hill by the Rev. Theodore Breeden. Burial will be in the Johnson family cemetery.
Mrs. Davis survived by her husband, James H. Davis of the home; two sons, John A. Davis and Torin Davis, both of Patterson; a daughter, Sheena Anderson of Patterson; a brother, James Johnson of Patterson; a sister, Fannie Weaver of Laurinburg, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
The public will be received today from 1 to 6 p.m. at Jackson Funeral Home in Laurinburg.
Mrs. Berter L. Cummings (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)
LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Berter Locklear Cummings, 90, of 1020 Deluca St. died Tuesday in Scotland Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Smithtown Church of God by the Rev. Numer Locklear and Howard Locklear Jr. Burial will be in Oxendine Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Thompson’s Funeral Home of Pembroke.
Mrs. Cummings is survived by a daughter, Howard L. Bryant of Laurinburg; a son, Gilbert Cummings of Seaford, N.Y.; five sisters, Dora Locklear, Tillie Deese, Louise Locklear and Queen Locklear, all of Pembroke, and Zelma Hunt of Baltimore; a brother, Monroe Locklear of Red Springs; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Josie S. Godwin (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)
CERRO GORDO -- Mrs. Josie Strickland Godwin, 80, of Cerro Gordo died Thursday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pages Mill Truelight Holiness Church by the Revs. James G. Blackman and Hughet Godwin. Burial will be in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Godwin is survived by a sister, Emma Britt of Abbottsburg; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
Mrs. Ethel L. Butler (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)
ROSEBORO -- Mrs. Ethel Lee Butler, 63, of 1023 Boren Brick Road died Thursday in her home.
She was a homemaker.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Revs. Jimmy Swinson and Roger Jackson. Burial will be in Pleasant Union Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Butler is survived by her husband, Donnie M. Butler of the home; a daughter, Connie B. Crumpler of Roseboro; two sisters, Idell Pope of Roseboro and Ida Johnson of Goldsboro; and a brother, L.D. Sessoms of Roseboro.

Mrs. Estella M. Thompson (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)
LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Estella Mae Thompson, 62, of 2185 Nevada St. died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cromartie Temple First Born Church by the Rev. S.M. Washington. Burial will be in Alligator Cemetery in Marietta.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband, Willie D. Thompson of the home; five daughters, Faye McDougald of the home, Betty Jerald and Patricia A. Thompson, both of Lumberton, and Betty R. Council and Shirlene Lane, both of White Oak; two sons, Alfred Thompson of Fayetteville and David L. Thompson of Orrum; two stepsons, Charles Jones of Lumberton and Tommy Jones of Fairmont; a stepdaughter, Cynthia Jones of Fairmont; her mother, Maybell Peppers of Lumberton; two sisters, Mable Moore of Whiteville and Mary Scott of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers, Bishop Roosevelt Peppers and William Peppers, both of Lumberton; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Annie B. Bullard (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)
FAIRMONT -- Mrs. Annie Bell Bullard, 81, of 103 Powell St. died Sunday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Mount Pelier Presbyterian Church in Rowland by the Rev. Samuel McCormick. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Bullard is survived by an adopted son, Earnest Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a sister, Argie M. Mitchell of Rowland.

Ervin L. McCall (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)
Ervin Lee McCall, 46, of 6491 Peoples St., Fayetteville, died Sunday.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Carl Brinkley. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park.
Mr. McCall is survived by five brothers, Noah Jackson, Lonnie Jackson and Larry McCall, all of Fayetteville, Rufus McCall of Newark, N.J., and Lewis McCall of Hillside, N.J.; and seven sisters, Martha Whitted of East Orange, N.J., Beatrice Lucus and Ann Cole, both of Irvington, N.J., Mary Stoval, Zora Pitt and Margie Melvin, all of Fayetteville, and Catherine Moore of Dover, Del.

Fletcher L. Jernigan (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)
GODWIN -- Fletcher Lee Jernigan, 89, of Route 1 died Wednesday.
He was a farmer for more than 50 years.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bluff Presbyterian Church in Wade by the Revs. Preston Heath and Robert L. Yoder. Burial will be in Old Bluff Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Mr. Jernigan is survived by his wife, Betty W. Jernigan of the home; four daughters, Elizabeth Register of Alhambra, Calif., Virginia Matthews of Norfolk, Va., Betty L. Maxwell of Wade and Brenda C. Jernigan of Fayetteville; four sons, Fletcher L. Jernigan of Marino Valley, Calif., James H. Jernigan of Fayetteville, Wallace L. Jernigan of Wade and Sherrill W. Jernigan of Godwin; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

CUMBERLAND -- Mrs. Ruth Sessoms Ivey, 69, of No. 1 Cumberland Road died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
She was a lifelong member of Cumberland Baptist Church and retired from Burlington Mills in St. Pauls after 30 years.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Cumberland Baptist Church by the Rev. Bill Allen. Burial will be in Cumberland Cemetery.
Mrs. Ivey is survived by a son, Joseph Ivey of Fayetteville; three daughters, Hope Fermanides, Linda Williams and Marsha Hewett, all of Fayetteville; three sisters, Pauline Cain of Fayetteville, Doris Melton of Cumberland and Nelie Ringled of Hope Mills; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Maranda B. Polk (dated Friday, Dec. 12, 1997)
HAMLET -- Mrs. Maranda Bristow Polk, 81, of 510 Charlotte St. died Monday in Hamlet Hospital.
Mrs. Polk was a former member of Green Chapel AME Zion Church and a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she was in the church choir. She was a retired domestic worker.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. W.H. Gatewood. Burial will be in Dobbins Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Nelson Funeral Service.
Mrs. Polk is survived by four sisters, Lizzie Tillman, Berleno Williams, Cloretta Huggins and Mildred Payne, all of Hamlet; and a brother, Willie Bristow of Hamlet.
The public will be received at East Hamlet Community Center after the service. The family will receive friends at the home of Lizzie Tillman, 225 Fifth St., Hamlet.
