SHANNON -- James Edward McRae, 75, of 420 Shankle Road died Sunday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday in New Shady Grove Baptist Church in Raeford by Bishop Lynn Kineil and Pastor Willie M. Graham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. McRae is survived by two sons, Larry McRae of the home and Tony L. McRae of Germany; six daughters, Janice McDougald of Fayetteville, Vivian Parker and Cathy McRae, both of Red Springs, and Sylvia McMillan, Cynthia McPhatter and Shelia Hollingsworth, all of Shannon; two sisters, Verie Baldwin of Lumber Bridge and Helen McRae of Bronx, N.Y.; a brother, Edward ‘‘Eddie’’ McRae of Bronx; 31 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
The public will be received today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Buie Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Mrs. Louise McMillian (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)
MAXTON -- Mrs. Louise ‘‘Lou’’ McMillian, 69, of 2820 Oxendine School Road died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Island Grove Baptist Church by the Revs. Larry Locklear, Tucker Dial, Coolidge Cummings and Grady Chavis. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery.
Mrs. McMillian is survived by her husband, James McMillian of the home; four daughters, Susie Epps, Lou E. Locklear, Judy Hunt and Carol Deese, all of Maxton; a son, James E. McMillian of Maxton; two sisters, Minnie Pittman of Fayetteville and Mable Bryant of Pembroke; a brother, Earnest Locklear of Maxton; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight beginning at 7 at Thompson’s Funeral Home in Pembroke.
Jose R. Lopez (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)
Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Jose R. Lopez, 53, of 307 Central Drive, Fayetteville, died Friday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Mrs. Lula J. Hunt (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)
LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Lula Mae Jacobs Hunt, 88, of 2310 Mount Olive Church Road died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Floyd Memorial Chapel by the Revs. Kelly Sanderson and Horace Locklear Jr. Burial will be in Piney Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Hunt is survived by a daughter, Flowers Hunt of Pembroke; and two sisters, Savannah Locklear of Lumberton and Mary Ann Locklear of Pembroke.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.
Phillip B. Hite (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)
ORRUM -- Phillip Blake Hite, 69, of 1502 Elijah Road died Sunday.
Mr. Hite was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. He was a Marine veteran of World War II. Mr. Hite was a mechanic at Benson Construction Co. before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Smyrna Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles Locklear and Shelly Dial. Entombment will be in Lumbee Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Mr. Hite is survived by his wife, Annie J. Hite of the home; two sons, Phillip Hite Jr. of Lumberton and Timmy Hite of Pembroke; two daughters, Phyllis Lowery and Bonnie Hite, both of Orrum; a stepdaughter, Peggy Wilcox of St. Pauls; two stepsons, Carlton Hunt and Paul Hunt, both of Lumberton; five brothers, Ellis Hite and Gerald Hite, both of Calhoun, Ga., Wilmer Hite of Newberry, S.C., Carlton Hite of Prosperity, S.C., and Donald Hite of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Nelda McCrochen of McCormick, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

CLINTON -- Mrs. Mary Elizabeth ‘‘Lizzie’’ Harper, 81, of 903 Sampson St. died Sunday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

DUNN -- Mrs. Flora Ferguson, 90, of Parrish Nursing Center died Monday.

James L. Edge Jr. (Dated Tuesday, June 29, 1999)
James Lafayette Edge Jr., 87, of Fayetteville died Sunday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Edge was a member of Galatia Presbyterian Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked in the civil service for 30 years on Fort Bragg before retiring as deputy post engineer. Mr. Edge was the co-founder of Highland Trader.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Galatia Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Gene Miller. Burial will be in Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler Funeral Home of Raeford.
Mr. Edge is survived by his wife, Nell F. Edge of Charlotte; four sons, James L. Edge III of Fuquay-Varina, Philip E. Edge of Fayetteville, Michael V. Edge of St. Matthews, S.C., and Bruce N. Edge of West Columbia, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

James Phineas Davis, 73, of 6526 Vineyard Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in his home.
A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Reeves Funeral Home chapel in Hope Mills by Chaplain Mike Beaver.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Carleen L. Davis; three daughters, Sarah D. Prevatte of Rocky Mount, Carol Young of Fayetteville and Gwen D. Melvin of Parkton; two sons, James Davis and Lloyd L. Davis, both of Fayetteville; three sisters, Lorene Woodell of Dublin and Emelene Bullock and Val Scott, both of Fairmont; a brother, Max Davis of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cain is survived by three daughters, Frances Dickson and Jackie Hood, both of Fayetteville, and Nancy Smith of Clinton; two sons, Amos K. Cain Jr. and Andy Cain, both of Fayetteville; four sisters, Margo Macklin of Columbia, Md., Louise Register of Wilmington, Edna Barlow of Colonial Heights, Va., and Betty S. Thomas of Carthage; and a brother, Norman Owen of Washington.

Mr. Blackston is survived by three sons, Michel Blackston of Raeford and Bobby Blackston and Edward Blackston, both of Rocky Mount; a daughter, Mary B. Fasion of Palmyra, N.J.; two sisters, Ida M. Benjamin of Elm City and Christine James of Chicago; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
