FOUR OAKS -- Ms. Martha Ann Young, 42, of Four Oaks died Friday.

Ms. Young was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel in Benson by the Rev. Hubert Morgan. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.

Ms. Young is survived by Gary D. Stone; a son, Joshua D. Young; her mother, Ruth S. Phillips; three sisters, Doris Smith of Dunn, Mary A. Stewart of Angier and Joyce R. Anderson of Benson; and two brothers, Billy E. Young of Faison and Willie V. Young of Benson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Ruth Phillips, 8312 Strickland’s Crossroads Road, Four Oaks.

William C. ‘Bill’ Smith
CLINTON -- William Claudious ‘‘Bill’’ Smith, 78, of 403 Parker Drive died Saturday in Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Mr. Smith was an Army veteran. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Clinton Lions Club. He was a recipient of the Lion of the Year Award. Mr. Smith was a retired building contractor.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church by Dr. Homer Morris. Burial will be in Ingold Cemetery.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Frances S. Smith; a daughter, Lynn Liesfeld of Richmond, Va.; two stepdaughters, Jan Murphy of Greenville and Rose Straub of Raleigh; two sisters, Clara Daulton of Fair Bluff and Velma Beasley of Elizabethtown; a granddaughter; and four step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Royal-Hall Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Miss Melissa A. Tillman

Miss Melissa Ann Tillman, 57, of 7145 Canary Drive, Fayetteville, died Thursday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

Arrangements will be announced by Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

CHARLOTTE -- Mrs. Ann Brooks Spencer, 70, of 519 Lamar Ave., formerly of Pembroke, died Saturday in Presbyterian Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Thompson’s Funeral Home.

Milton C. Smith

PINEHURST -- Milton C. Smith, 92, of Pinehurst died Thursday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

Mr. Smith was a former council member of Whispering Pines.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Southern Pines by the Rev. Grady Perryman. Arrangements are being handled by Powell Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mr. Smith is survived by a son, Tim Smith of San Francisco; a daughter, Marcie White of Yardley, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Brownson Presbyterian Church, 330 S. May St., Southern Pines, N.C. 28387.

Ronny E. Sessoms

HARMONY -- Ronny Edward Sessoms, 51, of 180 Winthrop Road, formerly of Hoke County, died Saturday in Iredell Memorial Hospital.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 6 p.m. today in Winthrop Friends Meeting in Olin. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Glenwood Friends Meeting in Greensboro. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. Monday in Raeford Cemetery in Raeford. Arrangements are being handled by Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home of Statesville.

Mr. Sessoms is survived by his wife, Elaine Guthrie; a son, Michael P. Sessoms of the home; a daughter, Lori A. Sessoms of the home; and three brothers, the Rev. William T. Sessoms of Archdale, Malcom K. Sessoms Jr. of Southern Pines and Timothy L. Sessoms of Greensboro.

Wiley L. Robertson Jr.

RALEIGH -- Wiley Leroy ‘‘Jack’’ Robertson Jr., 82, of Raleigh, formerly of White Lake, died Thursday in Wake Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Knightdale Baptist Church. Burial will be in New Knightdale Baptist Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory.

Mr. Robertson is survived his wife, Marcelene S. Robertson; four daughters, Mary R. Spencer of Richmond, Va., Jackie Weathers of Euless, Texas, Thelma Medline of Garner and Ann Stegall of Wake Forest; two stepdaughters, Linda Smith and Lisa Taylor, both of Raleigh; three sisters, Gladys Harrell and Doris Anthony, both of Knightdale, and Kelly Osbeck of Raleigh; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Dominic J. Perez

Dominic James Perez, 5-year-old son of Sgt. Roland and Donna Perez, of Fayetteville, died Monday.

Ms. Lottie M. Orchardo

LUMBERTON -- Ms. Lottie Josephine McLaurin Orchardo, 90, of 365 Hood Road died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in New Gate Community Church by the Rev. Bobby Phillips. Burial will be in Gardens of Faith Cemetery.

Ms. Orchardo is survived by several nieces.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

James D. Norman

James Doak Norman, 85, of Fayetteville died Friday in his home.

Mr. Norman was a member of the National Association of Appraisers.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. Leighton McKeithan and T.J. Fulk. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Mr. Norman is survived by his wife, Irene L. Norman of the home; a daughter, Donna Juarez of Fayeteville; five sons, James A. Norman of Lake Tillery, William C. Norman, John C. Norman and Joseph A. Hales III, all of Fayetteville, and Barry R. Norman of Angier; two sisters, Mary Frantz of Sarasota, Fla., and Carol Gwynn of Winter Park, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Earl Lee

SPRING LAKE -- Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Earl Lee, 68, of 2390 Lucas Road died Thursday in his home.

Mr. Lee was an auto mechanic instructor at Fayetteville Technical Community College.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Wiseman Mortuary chapel in Fayetteville by Pastor Ilesabeth Turner. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.

Mr. Lee is survived by two daughters, Dannie Farmer of Fort Washington Md., and Fatima E. Amerson of Fuquay Varina; three sons, Nathaniel Zeamault of Seattle, Cedric Lee of Spring Lake and Glenn P. Lee of Hannau, Germany; a sister, Edna Williams of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at the funeral home.

Bertram A. Johnson

FAIRMONT -- Bertram Ayres Johnson, 86, of 716 Holly St. died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mr. Johnson was a member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for Hodges Oil Co. before retiring.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Bloomingdale Baptist Church by the Rev. W.C. Baxley. Arrangements are being handled by Floyd Funeral Services.

Mr. Johnson is survived by a son, Biggs Johnson of Proctorville; and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bloomingdale Baptist Church, Route 1, Orrum, N.C. 28369.

Joshua S. Hunt

Mrs. Viola D. Herring

Mrs. Viola Darroch Herring, 73, of 119 Bremer St., Fayetteville, died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Herring was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Peace Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Jeff Mercer. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Mrs. Herring is survived by her husband, James W. Herring of the home; a daughter, Karen Pittman of Fayetteville; a son, James W. Herring Jr. of West Point, N.Y.; four sisters, Mary Johnson and Janice Brown, both of Fayetteville, Gertrude Stephenson of Greensboro and Patricia Harris of St. Louis; two brothers, J.W. Darroch of Lillington and Paul Darroch of Bethesda., Md.; and a granddaughter.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Dr. Charles G. Heckel

REVA, Va. -- Dr. Charles Gordon Heckel, 52, of Reva, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Friday in University of Virginia Hospital.

Dr. Heckel ws Chief of Anesthesiology at Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg, N.C. from 1998-1999.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hebron Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being handled by Preddy Funeral Home of Madison.

Dr. Heckel is survived by his wife, Diane W. Heckel of Reva, two daughters, Cheryl L. Heckel of Richmond and Nancy M. Heckel of Reva; a son, Frederick P. Heckel of Reva; a brother, Steven P. Heckel of Belle Meade, N.J.; and two sisters, Nancy M. Heckel of New Hope, Pa., and Dr. Janice L. Heckel of Morganton, N.C.

Wilkie Hall

SUPPLY -- Wilkie Hall, 56, of Supply died Friday in his home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Monday in Spell family cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Among Mr. Hall’s survivors are two sisters, Doris H. Bass and Fleecy Bishop, both of Clinton; and a brother, Simon Spell of Clinton.

Mrs. Shizuko O. Gravley

Mrs. Shizuko Ogihara Gravley, 67, of 107 Ruritan Road, Fayetteville, died Friday in her home.

A private burial will be held in Akita City, Japan.

Mrs. Gravley is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Gravley of Fayetteville; two daughters, Jeannen L. McKnight of Charlotte and Rene A. Dolinger of Mooresville; a brother, Toshihede Ogihara of Akita City; and two sisters, Hediko Sasaki and Mitsuko Kagaya, both of Akita City; and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society.
