SANFORD -- Eugene W. ‘‘Gene’’ Ellis, 80, of 6112 St. Andrews Church Drive died Tuesday in his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Miller-Boles Funeral Home chapel.
Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife, Shirley L. Ellis of the home.

Evelina A. Ellis

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Evelina Quick Adams Ellis, 70, of 12941 Blue’s Farm Road died Monday in Scotland Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Ellis was a seamstress for Charles Craft before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in East Laurinburg Church of God by the Rev. Jeff McGirt. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery in Gibson.
Mrs. Ellis is survived by her husband, Bill Ellis; two daughters, Dee Hammond of Laurinburg and Rhonda Adams of Fayetteville; three stepsons, Mike Ellis, Larry Ellis and Boggy Ellis, all of San Diego; two sisters, ‘‘Mutt’’ Freeman of Gibson and Doris Longfellow of Southern Pines; and 14 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at East Laurinburg Church of God.

Pearline Corbett

KELLY -- Ms. Pearline Corbett, 78, of 14 T.V. Tower Road died Friday in her home.
Ms. Corbett was a member of Zion AME Chapel Church. She worked for Bladen County Schools before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Zion AME Chapel Church by the Rev. Alonza Butler. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Carter Funeral Home.
Ms. Corbett is survived by four daughters, Louise Owens of Salemburg, Geraldine Corbett of Geneva, N.Y., and Nancy Anderson and Lizzie Thompson, both of Camden, N.J.; three sons, Bobby Corbett of Kelly and James Corbett and William Corbett, both of Camden, N.J.; two sisters, Mary Bailey and Ethel McKay, both of Kelly; 27 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home.

WHITEVILLE -- Charles Dupree Norris Sr., 75, of Slippery Log Road died Monday in Columbus County Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Corinth Baptist Church by the Rev. Elmore Strickland. Burial will be in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Norris is survived by his wife, Betty B. Norris of Whiteville; five sons, Charles D. Norris Jr. of Whiteville, Robert W. Norris of Western Prong, Charles H. Norris of Florence, S.C., Ronnie Norris of Gainesville, Fla., and Bobby W. Norris of Darlington, S.C.; four daughters, Deborah N. Atkinson of Whiteville, Patsy Long of Lamar, S.C., Diane Altman of Mullins, S.C., and Hilda Sapp of Claxton, Ga.; a brother, Willard I. Norris of Chadbourn; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Oxendine is survived by her mother, Hattie F. Oxendine of Lumberton; five brothers, Jack M. Oxendine of Killeen, Texas, Thomas Oxendine of Fort Eustis, Va., Zeb Oxendine and Frankie Oxendine, both of Lumberton, and Anthony R. Oxendine of Island Pond, Vt.; and four sisters, Sylvia J. Lowery and Joann Leviner, both of Fayetteville, Geraldyne O. Lewis of Fairmont and Patsy O. Wilkins of Lumberton.
Sadie E. Williamson

BENNETT -- Miss Sadie Eloise Williamson, 69, of 240 N.C. 22 West died Sunday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Miss Williamson is survived by two sisters, Louvene W. Maness of Bennett and Rosie W. Reeder of Seagrove; and two brothers, Bill Williamson of Seagrove and Elmer Williamson of Robbins.

Mrs. Margaret A. ‘‘Cordie’’ Williams, 74, of 1925 Shiloh Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Williams worked at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center as a ward clerk and monitor technician for several years before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home by the Rev. Alton Howard. Burial will be in Main Post Cemetery on Fort Bragg.
Mrs. Williams is survived by a son, C.T. ‘‘Tiny’’ Williams of Linden; a daughter, Rebecca F. ‘’Becky’’ Kinlaw of Fayetteville; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Long is survived by his father and stepmother, Robert L. Long Sr. and Nancy Hoffman, both of Stedman; his mother, Mildred White of Headland, Fla.; and two brothers, Robert L. Long Jr. of Stedman and James Long of Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 7 tonight in Seymour Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. T.R. Miller and Raymond Amos. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Princeton Cemetery.
Mrs. Gurley is survived by five children, Kermint L. Gurley and Jean G. Wilson, both of Goldsboro, Irene G. Christie of Parkton, Karen G. Stephens of Williamston and Cegerna G. Jones of Kingsport, Tenn.; two brothers, Walter Martin and Stephen Martin, both of Princeton; four sisters, Kizzie Sanders of Goldsboro, Julia Odom and Esther Sasser, both of Princeton, and Edna Resor of Davidson; eight grandchildren; a step-grandchild; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Wright was a retired teacher.

Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband, Kenneth Wright of Laurinburg; two sons, Dr. Gary Wright of Laurinburg and Steven Wright of Pacifica, Calif.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
