Marelyn B. Chavis
Mrs. Marelyn Bell Chavis, 83, of 1045 Camden Road, Fayetteville, died Monday in Integrated Health Services.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Reeves Funeral Home chapel in Hope Mills by the Rev. Stoney Locklear. Burial will be in Cumberland Cemetery.
Mrs. Chavis is survived by four daughters, Katie Sroka of Jacksonville, Fla., and Margie Hartman, Rosie Hamel and Nell House, all of Fayetteville; three sons, Johnny Bell of Fayetteville and John Russell and Leon Bell, both of Conroe, Texas; five stepdaughters, Faye Ruffin, Linda Jackson and Cathy Carter, all of Fayetteville, Pam Bobbitt of Jacksonville and Pattie Dillard of Durham; two stepsons, Ronnie Chavis of Fort Worth, Texas, and Donnie Chavis of McColl, S.C.; five sisters, Helen Locklear and Beatrice Lucas, both of Fayetteville, Lucy Lowery and Madie Locklear, both of Laurinburg, and Martha Locklear of Wagram; 22 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Clayton L. Carter
WHITE OAK -- Clayton Lee Carter, 54, of 784 Dowd Dairy Road died Tuesday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Christ Community Baptist Church by the Rev. Leon Warren. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Elizabethtown. Arrangements are being handled by Carter Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Edna B. Carter; two daughters, Rebecca Pait of Dublin and Melissa Seals of Elizabethtown; two sons, Clayton ‘‘C.L.’’ Carter Jr. and David P. Carter, both of White Oak; and three sisters, Barbara Johnson and Nancy Lanier, both of Clarkton, and Jean Moore of Elizabethtown.

Mamie J. Butler
CLINTON -- Miss Mamie Jane Butler, 91, of 904 Circle St. died Tuesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Sharon Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Revs. Mike Carter, Richard Parsons and James Norton. Burial will be in the Butler family cemetery.
Miss Butler is survived by a sister, Sudie Butler of Clinton.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Irving O. Barker
Retired Army Col. Irving Oscar Barker, 79, of 2538 N. Edge Water Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Barker was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Beth Israel Jewish Synagogue by Rabbi Yosef Levanon. Burial will be in Beth Israel Cross Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.
Mr. Barker is survived by his wife, Helen Barker of the home; a son, Michael Barker of Linwood, N.J.; and two grandsons.

SOUTHERN PINES -- Fred William Aldrich, 79, of Southern Pines died Sunday.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. today in Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church by the Revs. Grady T. Perryman and Chris Moore-Keish. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home.
Mr. Aldrich is survived by his wife, Peg Aldrich; a son, Jeffrey W. Aldrich of Key West, Fla.; two daughters, Margaret L. Lawryk of Bethlehem, Pa., and Kate A. Tuomala of Southern Pines; two sisters, Jessie L. Lewis and Jane Van Zandt, both of New Milford, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

SOUTHERN PINES -- Ms. Mary Hall Teal, 91, of Southern Pines died Wednesday in St. Joseph Health Care Facility.

Mrs. Teal is survived by three sons, Harry Teal and Eddie Teal, both of Aberdeen, and Wilson Teal of Lexington; two daughters, Betty J. Brooks of Durham and Juanita Boros of Carthage; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband, J.C. Taylor of Roseboro; four sons, Jerry P. Taylor and Eugene E. Taylor, both of Roseboro, and Danny R. Taylor and Alex J. Faircloth, both of Clinton; a brother, Jones Faircloth of Autryville; a sister, Mary A. Davis of Richlands; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Rowell worked for Lundy Packing Co. as a truck driver before retiring.
