Mrs. Blanche D. Shaw (Dated Thursday, July 22, 1999)
ERWIN -- Mrs. Blanche Davis Shaw, 92, of Erwin died Tuesday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Flat Branch Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Bertrand Pitchford. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home of Lillington.
Mrs. Shaw is survived by three daughters, Estelle S. Brown of Fayetteville, Ruth S. Jakeman of Erwin and Catherine S. Cain of Kernersville; three sons, Colin Shaw of Greensboro, Theodore Shaw of Florida and Carrol Shaw of Kannapolis; four sisters, Clara Stone of Sanford, Nell Maye of Spring Lake, Lillian Safrit of Salisbury and Pearl Brown of Florida; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church fellowship hall and at other times at the home of Ruth S. Jakeman.

Retired Army Staff Sgt. Joseph I. Quintero, 66, of Fayetteville died Wednesday in his home.
Arrangements will be announced by Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.
Mrs. Lida R. O’Quinn (Dated Thursday, July 22, 1999)
LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Lida Renn O’Quinn, 87, of Lillington died Tuesday in Rex Convalescent Center.
Mrs. O’Quinn was the director of nursing with the Harnett County Health Dept. before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lillington Baptist Church by the Revs. Mark Morris and Jeff Roberts. Burial will be in Harnett Memorial Park.
Mrs. O’Quinn is survived by a daughter, Frances O. Haywood of Angier; a son, Byron ‘‘Barney’’ O’Quinn of Fuquay-Varina; two sisters, Alice Taylor of Fayetteville and Helen Lawson of Greenville; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Miss Omega J. Murphy (Dated Thursday, July 22, 1999)
ROSE HILL -- Miss Omega J. Murphy, 24, of 2944 River Road died Tuesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

William ‘Eli’ Manning (Dated Thursday, July 22, 1999)
ERWIN -- William ‘‘Eli’’ Manning, 80, of 101 N. 10th St. died Wednesday.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Price Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Jerome Pope. Burial will be in Erwin Memorial Park.
Mr. Manning is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. Manning of Erwin; a daughter, Elaine M. Remillard of Erwin; a brother, Harold Manning of Lillington; three sisters, Pearl Godwin of Dunn, Rebecca Walters of Cocoa, Fla., and Agnes Crocker of Holly Ridge; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
D. Howard Lucas (Dated Thursday, July 22, 1999)
SOUTHERN PINES -- D. Howard Lucas, 80, of Southern Pines died Monday in St. Joseph Health Care.
A graveside service was conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Pine Hill Church cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Powell Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mr. Lucas is survived by a daughter, Frances L. Carter of Southern Pines; two brothers, Emery Lucas of Hoffman and Foster Lucas of Sanford; two sisters, Edith Lowder of Aberdeen and Hazel Rose of Asheboro; and two grandchildren.
Dominic A. Johnson (Dated Thursday, July 22, 1999)
Dominic Anthony Johnson, infant son of Takisha M. Johnson, of 820 Carol St., Fayetteville, died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Wiseman Mortuary chapel by Pastor Lonnie Sessoms.
In addition to his mother, Dominic is survived by his maternal grandmother, Dawn D. Johnson of Woodbridge, Va.; and his maternal great-grandmother, Gloria Johnson of Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Dr. Joseph B. Alexander (Dated Thursday, July 22, 1999)
LUMBERTON -- Dr. Joseph Black Alexander, 73, of Lumberton died Tuesday.
Dr. Alexander was an Army veteran. He was a senior partner at the Lumberton Medical Clinic for more than 20 years before retiring. Dr. Alexander was president of the Robeson County Medical Society and the Robeson County Heart Association.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Dr. Alexander is survived by his wife, Iris R. Alexander of the home; two daughters, Josephine A. Carter of High Point and Elizabeth A. Berne of Florence, S.C.; two sons, Dr. Stephen R. Alexander of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Dr. James R. Alexander of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, David B. Alexander of Seattle; a sister, Phyllis A. Britt of Raleigh; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight beginning at 7 at Floyd Mortuary.

Mrs. Mary Alice Henry, 84, of 251 Fawn Road, Fayetteville, died Saturday in her home.
A graveside service was conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Riverview Cemetery in Albany, Ga. Arrangements were handled by Fields Funeral Home. Local arrangements were handled by Tucker & Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Henry is survived by a son, David Henry of Fayetteville.

Ms. Hair is survived by two daughters, Lureene Elliott and Iris Galloway, both of Fayetteville; three sons, Nathaniel Hair, Wendell Hair and Johnathan Hair, all of Fayetteville; three sisters, Viola Robinson, Mary Dixon and Arlene Davis, all of Fayetteville; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

LAURINBURG -- Robert Daniel Fields, 63, of 330 Gill St. died Tuesday in his home.
Mr. Fields formerly worked for Carolina Crating.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in McDougald Funeral Home & Crematorium chapel by the Rev. Clyde Dugan. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.
Mr. Fields is survived by a brother, David Fields of Laurinburg; and a sister, Lydia Hardy of Laurinburg.

FAISON -- Mrs. Gertrude Smith Daughtry, 73, of 880 Preachere Henry Road died Wednesday.
Mrs. Daughtry was a member of Goshen United Methodist Church. She was an art teacher.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Goshen United Methodist Church by the Revs. Jay Bissette, Tom Supple and Tony Morling. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Oakdale Cemetery in Mount Airy.
Mrs. Daughtry is survived by her husband, E. Mack Daughtry of the home; a stepdaughter, Margaret D. Coleman of Newton Grove; three stepsons, Douglas Daughtry of Clinton, Trent Daughtry of the home and Timothy Daughtry of Greenville; three brothers, Banner Smith of Tucker, Ga., Kennett Smith of Winston-Salem and William H. Smith of Lenoir; a sister, Virginia Crowell of Mount Airy; and seven step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
