ROWLAND -- Ms. Evelyn Locklear, 56, of 2074 Kitchen St. died Thursday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Ms. Locklear was a shop manager with South of the Border.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Rowland Church of God by the Revs. Margaret F. Locklear, Larry Oxendine and Tony Hunt. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Ms. Locklear is survived by a son, Michael Locklear of Laurinburg; a daughter, Sue Lewis of Lumberton; a brother, Edison Hunt of Lumberton; two sisters, Shirley Jones of Rowland and Rosie Hunt of Columbus, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont and at other times at the home.
Mrs. Lanie J. Jackson

WHITEVILLE -- Mrs. Lanie Jones Jackson, 83, of Whiteville died Friday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in McKenzie Mortuary chapel by the Rev. Franklin Toole Jr. Burial will be in Lake Waccamaw Cemetery.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by a daughter, Juanita J. Hinson of Whiteville; a sister, Merle Chauncey of Clarkton; a grandson; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; and a great-great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. House is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. House of Dunn; a daughter, Debra H. Barefoot of Dunn; his mother, Hazel H. Williams of Dunn; a brother, Donnie C. House of Salisbury; a sister, Martha H. Ray of Lillington; and three grandchildren.

Ms. Mary V. Daughtry

CLINTON -- Ms. Mary Emma Vann Daughtry, 71, of Willow Road died Thursday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Laurinburg.
Ms. Daughtry was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church. She operated Daughtry’s Market before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Grove Park Baptist Church by the Revs. Michael Shook and Dewey Ball. Burial will be in Clinton City Cemetery.
Ms. Daughtry is survived by two daughters, Diane Lucas of Clinton and Vickie Smith of Garland; a brother, Bobby Vann of Clinton; a sister, Alice F. Owens of Salemburg; and three grandchildren.

LAURINBURG -- Charles H. Dail, 49, of 1116 Hammond Drive died Thursday in Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Dail is survived by a son, Dean Dail of Laurinburg; a daughter, Penny Jeffers of Laurinburg; three sisters, Jeanette Shelton of Laurinburg, Brenda Blakney of Alabama and Judy Dybdal of Chipley, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Leona E. Coleman

Mrs. Leona E. Coleman, 89, of 1616 Murchison Road, Fayetteville, died Monday in Village Green Health Care Center.
Mrs. Coleman was a teacher in Hoke County Schools before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Luke AME Church by the Rev. Sheridan Knight. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Coleman is survived by a son, Allen R. Coleman of East Greenbush, N.Y.; two sisters, Dianna Mack of Darlington, S.C. and Lula McLeod of Seabrook, Md.; and a granddaughter.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Bass is survived by her husband, James M. ‘‘Jimmy’’ Bass of the home; a son, Tony M. Bass of Robbins; a daughter, Joannie L. Moore of Bear Creek; three sisters, Carrie Morris of Fayetteville, and Ruth Bourgoins and Jo Hayes, both of Dillon, S.C.; and four grandchildren.

ANGIER -- James P. Young, 58, of 332 Chinaberry Lane died Tuesday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.

Mr. Young is survived by six sisters, Hattie M. Maxwell and Beatrice Dewitt, both of Hoboken, N.J., Gladys Ray and Mary J. Vandergriff, both of Lillington, and Mary A. Lanier and Carolyn M. Vandergriff, both of the home; two foster sisters, Elosie Fuller of Apex and Doris Bredell of Fayetteville; a brother, Clyde M. Vandergriff of Bunnlevel; and a foster brother, Thomas Washington of Angier.

Ms. Williams was a member of Judson Missionary Baptist Church.

SPRING LAKE -- Miss Claire Simone Dunston, infant daughter of Melony Cameron and Terrence Dunston, of 112 Bruce Lane died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Rockfish Memorial Park Cemetery by the Rev. Benedicto Cruz. Arrangements are being handled by Cunningham & Sons Mortuary.
In additon to her parents, baby Claire is survived by her grandparents, William and Francis Dunston of Oxford, Gwendolyn Matthews of Spring Lake and Charles and Mary Cameron of Spring Lake.
Joseph L. Strickland

GARLAND -- Joseph Lee Strickland, 80, of 2427 Norris Road died Thursday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mr. Strickland was an Army veteran. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. Mr. Strickland worked for B & O Railroad in Baltimore before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Harmony Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
Mr. Strickland is survived by a daughter, Shelba J. Hairr of Garland; two sons, Arnold R. Strickland of Fayetteville and Terry L. Strickland of Garland; two brothers, Willie Strickland of Coats and Elwood Strickland of Roanoke, Va.; four sisters, Louise Hall of Clinton, Doris Alford of Florida and Allene Strickland and Clara M. Stickland, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
