Craven M. ‘Jack’ House
HOPE MILLS -- Craven McLean ‘‘Jack’’ House, 72, of 5114 Ponderosa Drive died Sunday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital in Fayetteville.
Mr. House was a farmer before retiring. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Old Bluff Presbyterian Church cemetery by the Rev. Erfie Hayes. Arrangements are being handled by Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home of Dunn.
Mr. House is survived by his wife, Dell M. House of Hope Mills; a son, Keith Dorman of Bunnlevel; a stepson, Ronald W. Stokes of Alamo, Ga.; two brothers, Hubert House and Clayton House, both of Wade; a sister, Elma Eason of Wade; a grandson; four step-grandsons; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Viron L. Haynes

SPRING LAKE -- Retired Army Chief Warrant Officer Viron Lee Haynes, 62, of 1415 Milton St. died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mr. Haynes was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel. Burial with military honors will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Haynes is survived by his wife, Betty G. Haynes of Spring Lake; three daughters, Kathy A. Hall and Leashia Wyant, both of Spring Lake, and Sheila Poirier of Cameron; a son, Viron L. Haynes Jr. of Spring Lake; three sisters, Verlene Melvin of Manasses, Va., Zanna Thompson of Gainesville, Va., and Adeana Bartfai of Princeton, W.Va.; two brothers, Pete Haynes of Princeton and Arthur D. Haynes of Virginia; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Oweader Randolph Harrell, 57, of 6304 Moss Court, Fayetteville, died Monday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

CLINTON -- Houston Ray Garner, 66, of 274 Quail Run Mobile Home Park died Friday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Butler & Son Funeral Home in Roseboro by the Revs. Harold Boykin and Willie Bowden. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Church cemetery.
Mr. Garner is survived by his wife, Sarah Garner of the home; two daughters, Dorothy Garner and Lenora Garner, both of Clinton; two sons, Robert Garner of Clinton and Darrius Garner of Jacksonville; a stepdaughter, Larie Culbreth of Clinton; two sisters, Nettie Smith and Merdle McLamb, both of Clinton; three brothers, James Garner, Herbert Garner and Jay Garner, all of Clinton; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

William C. Dobbs Jr.

SPRING LAKE -- Retired Army Staff Sgt. William C. Dobbs Jr., 67, of 2712 Heatter Ave. died Saturday in Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.
Mr. Dobbs was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9103.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel by Father Willard Rucinski. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Dobbs is survived by his wife, Antonia M. Dobbs of Spring Lake; two daughters, Claudia Joyner and Mary E. Stephenson, both of Hope Mills; a son, Anthony L. Dobbs of Quitman, Texas; two sisters, Sybol Namour of Helena, Ark., and Lorene Roemer of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Huie Johnson of Paso Robles, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

Dr. Arthur H. Davis

LAURINBURG -- Dr. Arthur H. Davis, 73, of 13081 Elm Ave. died Sunday in Scotland Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Davis was the former president of the Laurinburg Jaycees and the Lions Club.

Ms. Brown is survived by two daughters, Latysha Atkins of Elizabeth, N.J., and Uniqi Brown of Fayetteville; three brothers, James Holmes of Brodnax, Va., Alvin Holmes of Hampton, Va., and Robert Holmes of East Orange, N.J.; and seven sisters, Alice McNeill of Spring Lake, Pearl Bradley and Carlene Young, both of Newark, Bessie Quick of Phoenix, Laura Pittman of Virginia Beach, Va., Debra Baldwin of Maplewood, N.J., and Willicia Williams of Fayetteville.

Alfred B. Boyles

Retired Army Master Sgt. Alfred Benny Boyles, 64, of Fayetteville died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Boyles was in the Army for 20 years and the postal service for 20 years before retiring. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and the Dominican crisis. Among his awards, he received the Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster, the Army Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster and the Commendation Medal with oak leaf. Mr. Boyles was a ham radio operator for 25 years. His call letters were WB42ES.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in JFK Chapel on Fort Bragg by Chaplain Richard Jackson. Arrangements are being handled by Reeves Funeral Home of Hope Mills.
Mr. Boyles is survived by three sons, Jon D. Boyles of Fayetteville and Tony B. Sanders and M. Stephen Sanders, both of Pineville; a daughter, Deborah S. Parker of Fayetteville; a sister, Jessie J. Neely of Little Rock, Ark.; and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Bonita L. Blue

Alfred D. Belsma

SANFORD -- Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Alfred Donald Belsma, 82, of 2988 Henley Road died Friday.
Mr. Belsma joined the Army Air Corps where he commanded a B26 Marauder bomber squadron based in North Africa. He was shot down over Italy and was rescued months later behind enemy lines. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart.
Mr. Belsma retired at Pope Air Force Base in 1967. He taught at N.C. State University and operated the family farm.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Rogers Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Tony Moore and Dr. Jerry Burton. Burial will be at 9 a.m. June 14 in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
Mr. Belsma is survived by his wife, Ruby Belsma of Sanford; three daughters, Ronnie Belsma of Pennington, Ore., Mary Sening of Germany and Leslie Belsma of Venice, Calif.; a son, Alfred D. Belsma Jr. of Sanford; a stepdaughter, Phyllis Clark of Lillington; a stepson, Jay Greenwood of Sanford; two sisters, Alice Anderson of Elmer, N.Y., and Mildred Belsma of Waupun, Wis.; two step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.

Revels, former civic leader
LUMBERTON -- Ray Virgil Revels Sr. of 1902 N. Walnut St. died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center. He was 75.
Mr. Revels was a prisoner of war during World War II. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was the former leader of the local Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was presented the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award for community service by the governor. Mr. Revels was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Masons and the Shriners. He also served on the Foundation Board of Robeson Community College and the Robeson County Board of Elections.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Sam Warner. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.
Mr. Revels is survived by his wife, Ann M. Revels of the home; a son, Ray V. Revels Jr. of Rock Hill, S.C.; two daughters, Suzanne R. Daniels of Lumberton and Lucia R. Lindsey of Greenville, S.C.; a sister, Kathryn Culp of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.
