Patricia M. Healy
Patricia M. Healy, 82 years old, died peacefully at Angel House Hospice in Whiteville, NC on July 27, 2011.
She is survived by her beloved children Kevin (Suzin), John (Pixie-Ann), Christopher, Susan, Kathleen (Chris) and Barbara Anne (Andrew), her grandchildren Karen, Colin, Chris (Janai), Noah, Alexa, Eric, John Edward, Ben, Fiona, Ruby and Ciara, and her great grandchild, Christopher Michael.
Patricia was the daughter of Margaret McLoughlin and William Slawson. She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, John J. Healy.
Patricia did everything well, with cheerful good humor and her beautiful smile. She raised her family with love and worked for many successful years as a valued employee of Verizon Corp.
An avid reader and bridge player, Patricia enjoyed 20 wonderful years of retirement in Carolina Shores. She took great pleasure in her friends, her home and the ocean.
Patricia was born and raised in New York City. She graduated Marywood College in Scranton, Pa. Before retiring, she lived in Commack, NY and Bellerose Village, NY. She made lifelong friends in each community.
Patricia was a beautiful, smart, compassionate woman full of grace. She loved company, the more the merrier. She faced adversity with faith, courageous optimism - and without complaint. She was a beacon of joy to all who knew her.
Patricia will be waked from 4pm to 6pm on Tuesday, August 2 at Brunswick Funeral Service, 5229 Ocean Highway West, Shallotte NC 28459. A prayer service and remembrance will commence at 5:30pm.
A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Wednesday, August 3 at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1100 8th Avenue North, North Myrtle Beach, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made, in her name, to Angel House Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.

Nola Marie Stanley Todd, 77, of Archdale, NC died Thursday, July 28, 2011.
Born in Brunswick County, NC on November 11, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Isadora Harper Stanley. Nola was preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin Allen Cox, Sr., her second husband, Holbert Wayne Todd; son, Edwin A. Cox, Jr.; sisters, Sabrina Star, Lula Norris, Rosa Love Stanley and a brother, Burris Stanley.
Survivors include her daughters, Janie Beck, husband John F. of Clarksville, TN, Brenda T. Hughes, husband Alan C. of Archdale, NC, JoLee Todd of Thomasville, NC, Joy Floyd, husband Chris of Charleston, SC, Penny Marie Easter of Henderson, NC; a brother, Mack O’Neil Stanley of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; a sister, Rev. Dora Carter, husband Billy of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; nineteen grandchildren and thirty two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 31, 2011, in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow in the Brooks Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 PM prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Sears, Larry Skipper, Craig Hughes, Bill Carter, Rev. Tim Carter and Kim Carter.
In lieu of flowers memorials are to be made in Nola’s name, to your favorite charity.

James H. Collins, III, 75, of Supply, NC died on Saturday, July 30, 2011 in the Brunswick Community Hospital.
Born July 11, 1936, in Durham, NC he was the son of the late James H. and Carolina F. Collins.
He attended Woodberry Forest School and the University of North Carolina and was a US Army veteran having served in Germany for two years.
Until his retirement, he was affiliated with Rhodes Furniture for many years. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Janice.
Survivors include his sister, Martha Kennon of Durham, NC; his brother, William Collins of Myrtle Beach, SC; three nephews and one niece, Scott, James, William and Jennifer. Also, he leaves very close friends, Gerald and Jane Brown, Carolyn Powell and Baiba Bomersheim.
Funeral services will be private.

Joseph A. Pollard
Joseph A. Pollard, 87, of Supply, NC died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in the New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Pollard was born June 22, 1924 in New York, NY to the late Joseph and Mae Sheerin Pollard. He worked as an Advertising Executive for People’s Drug; and was a United States Army and United States Air Force Veteran. Mr. Pollard was on the Board of Directors for the Brunswick County Literacy Council and the Lockwood Folly Country Club; and served as past president for the Washington DC Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Surviving are his wife Lee Pollard; three sons Kenneth Pollard, wife Claudia, of Salt Lake City, UT, Gene Pollard, wife Lisa, of Reston, VA and Michael Pollard of Baltimore, MD; a daughter Theresa Rowland, husband Mark, of Palo Alto, CA; and four grandchildren Cole Pollard, Ian Pollard, Christopher Rowland, and Aislyn Pollard.
Services will be private.

James Angelo Pacella, 63, of Calabash, NC died Saturday, August 8, 2011 in the Brunswick Community Hospital.
Mr. Pacella was born September 19, 1947 in Boston, MA to the late James and Helena DeLong Pacella.
He was a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Pacella was a member of Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (N.A.R.F.E).
Surviving is his wife Lorene C. Pacella; two sons Jonathan Pacella of Woodbridge, VA and Vincent Pacella, wife Angela, of Stafford, VA; a brother Robert Pacella of Dedham, MA; two sisters Marian Pacella of Dedham, MA and Margaret Fraioli of Dedham, MA; and five grandchildren Joseph Pacella, Gianni Pacella, Edward Ferrari, Anthony Ferrari, and Angela Ferrari.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.

Kenneth Nicholas DeMarco, Jr., 22, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at his home.
Mr. DeMarco was born June 4, 1989 in Wilmington, DE to Kenneth N. DeMarco, Sr. and Elizabeth Amber Russell. He worked as a Material’s Associate for Lowe’s Home Improvement Store.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents Dick and Kanyawara Russell of Shallotte, NC; his paternal grandparents Ronald and Annette DeMarco of Wilmington, DE; two brothers Anthony DeMarco of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and Nicholas DeMarco of Newark, DE; and two sisters Tara Evans of Newark, DE and Madison DeMarco of Newark, DE.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 7:00 PM in the New Beginnings Community Church.

Grady Ford Long, 53, of Shallotte, died Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at his home.
He was born on July 17, 1958, in Brunswick County, a son of the Janette Smith Long and the late Charles M. Long. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his niece, Ashley Morgan Long.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Long; son, Johnathan Long, & wife, Leanne, of Grissettown; two daughters, Beth Long, of Shallotte, & Debra Long-Cox, & husband, Jared, of Shallotte; six brothers, Robert Long, of Brunswick, GA, Charles Long, & wife, Janet, of Cocoa Beach, FL, C.M. Long, & wife, Gwen, of Shallotte, Allen Long, of Brunswick, GA, Joey Long, of VA, Collie Long, of Shallotte, NC; two granddaughters, Madison and Macey Long.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14th in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Saturday evening at the funeral home.

Joseph Walter Boyte, 93, of Supply, NC died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in the Dosher Memorial Hospital, Southport, NC.
Mr. Boyte was born August 27, 1917 in Moore County, NC to the late Thomas McPherson and Maggie Caviness Boyte. He worked as a Shipping Manager for a textiles company. Mr. Boyte was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Louise Hill Boyte.
Surviving is his son Larry Boyte, wife Connie, of Holden Beach, NC; two daughters Edna Earl Gillie, husband Calvin, of Eden, NC and Holden Beach, NC and Carmel McDowell, husband Larry, of Bolivia, NC; four grandchildren Joe DeHart, Eric DeHart, Valarie Bellamy, and Lauren Clemmons; and seven great grandchildren Erica, Caleb, Britton, Maggie Louise, Cole, Katie, and Cori Lee.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel by the Reverend Richard Vaughn. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ora Woodard Hewett
On August 11, 2011 it was the divine will of our Heavenly Father to call to her Heavenly Home our beloved mother, Ora Woodard Hewett. She was born November 30, 1915 in Supply, NC to the late William Moses and Alice Lewis Woodard.
She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years William Warren Hewett; a grandson Stephen Lyles; four sisters, Alta Smith, Merlie Mooney, Orna Hilburn, and Lovie Woodard; three brothers Henry Woodard, Alfred Woodard and Shirley Woodard; and six brothers and sisters who died in infancy.
She is survived by three daughters Wanda Lyles (Homer), Donnie Kopp (John) and Marilyn Richberg (Lanny); six grandchildren Warren Lyles, Katherine Norfleet, Richard Kopp, Karen Ahalt, Joey Smith, Kelly Smith; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 5:00 PM in the Jennies Branch Baptist Church by the Reverend Robbie Stephens. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Caksetbearers will be Warren Lyles, Richard Kopp, Joey Smith, Dereck Norfleet, Percy Woodard, and Brent Gore.
She was a member of Jennies Branch Baptist Church for 72 years, and was Nursery Sunday School Teacher for many years and a member of the WMU. She had a garden for 68 years after her marriage, loved to bake cakes and deliver them to friends and shut ins. She loved to travel, especially cruises and was always active as a “class mother” while her children were in school.

Alice Cavanaugh Dariano
Alice Cavanaugh Dariano, 80, of Ocean Isle Beach, died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at her home.
Mrs. Dariano was born on September 18, 1930 in Flushing, NY, a daughter of the late Hendrick and Ann Kennedy Panhuis.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas John Dariano on October 10, 2007.
She served as a volunteer for Brunswick Community Hospital for many years.
Surviving are her son, Nicholas A. Dariano, of Palm Springs, CA; daughter, Veronica Schmidt-Wankmuller, & husband, John, of E. Brunswick, NJ; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Anne Marie, & Sabrina; two nephews, Jim Pugliese & Ken Hasloecher; and several other nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am on Tuesday, August 16th in St. Brendans Catholic Church.
