Jacqueline “Jackie” Morrey Raymond
Jacqueline “Jackie” Morrey Raymond, 66, of Calabash, NC formerly of Columbia, MD, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 after a long three year battle with ovarian cancer.
Born in Washington, DC on January 1, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Harold M. and Martha Wright Morrey. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed golf and bowling. Her most cherished time was spent with her grandchildren. Jackie was a member of Calabash Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her loving husband of 42 years, Michael “Mickey” Raymond; two daughters, Jennifer Gerrity and husband Sean of Ellicott City, MD, Erin Kedzierski and husband Ted of Mt. Airy, MD; two sisters, Carolyn Neal of Berlin, MD, Nancy Skidmore, of Aiken, SC; and “Nana” to, Kaitlyn, Peyton, Parker and Tanner.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 9, 2011 in Calabash Presbyterian Church by the Reverend Jack Patrick. A reception will follow in the “Brunswick House” of Brunswick Plantation.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Raymond’s honor to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition at 2501 Oak Lawn Ave., # 435, Dallas, TX 75219 (www.ovarian.org/donate.php).

Betty Halloran, 80, of Sunset Beach, NC died at her home on Friday, May 6, 2011.
Born in Ridgefield Park, NJ, on July 30, 1930, she was a daughter of the late David and Edna Theil Scott. Mrs. Halloran was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a passion for golf, had seven holes-in-one, and held the NJ State Senior Championship for three years.
Survivors include her loving husband of fifty-two years, John “Jack” Halloran; children, Susan Maxwell of Stuart, FL, Steve Halloran of Rockaway, NJ; four grandchildren, Jenna, Alissa, Matthew and Johnathan and a sister, Marilyn Clark of Harrington Park, NJ.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Judy Helen Goff, 61, of Indigo Branch Road, Supply, NC died Monday, May 16, 2011 at her home.
Mrs. Goff was born November 5, 1949 in Forsyth County, NC to the late Raymond Staley and Dula Helen Messer Holler. She worked as an Assistant Director and Chief Financial Officer for Davidson County Workshops. Mrs. Goff was a member of the Civitan Club in Lexington, NC and she served on the Human Rights Board. She attended Come & Worship Moravian Church, Winston Salem.
Surviving are her husband Gary Goff; two sons David Spencer, Jr. girlfriend Amanda, and Daniel Goff both of Wilmington, NC; a brother Randall Holler, wife Donna, of Winston-Salem, NC; and four sisters Patricia Cooke of Winston-Salem, NC, Nancy Cooper of Winston-Salem, NC, Carol Lewis, husband Butch, of Davie, FL, and Linda Davis, husband Kenneth, of Walkertown, NC.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel by the Reverend Billie M. Varner.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association National Headquarters 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.

James “Jim” Darrell Robertson
James “Jim” Darrell Robertson, 49, of Shallotte, died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at his home after a brave battle with brain cancer.
Jim was born on August 1, 1961 in Ogden, UT, the son of the late Howard Darrell Robertson and Sharon Coon Robertson Eiden. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Robertson.
He retired from the U.S. Navy with 24 years of service in March of 2010. Prior to his retirement, he served on board the USS Boxer LHD-4 stationed in San Diego, CA. Following his retirement he moved to NC.
Surviving are his wife, of 23 years, Melinda E. Robertson; sister, Sandra Greenwood, & husband, Brett, of Price, UT; two nephews, Caleb Greenwood, & wife, Casey and Caylun Greenwood; two nieces, Neeka & Teasha Greenwood.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 3:30 pm on Thursday, May 26th in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel with military honors.
Visitation will be from 3-3:30 at the funeral home.
Family request in lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Disabled American Veterans.

Amelia Herrera Eder, 96, of Carolina Shores, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at her home.
Mrs. Eder was born on December 4, 1914, in Panama City, Panama. She was a daughter of the late Lino Clemente and Amelia Maria Ojedis Herrera. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. Eder, Sr., and her grandson Stuart Beardall; sisters, Ida Arosemena and Elena Estenoz; and brother, Carlos Herrera.
Surviving are her two sons, Willis “Bill” Beardall, & wife, Judy Smith, of Raleigh, and Charles “Chuck” Beardall, & wife, Jonilynn, of Carolina Shores; two sisters, Ana Eder & husband, Edward, of Panama City, Panama, and Lina Herrera, of Colon, Panama; two grandsons, Travis and Bradford Beardall.
No local services will be announced.
Inurnment will be in Panama at a later date.

Mabry Ward Dennis
Mabry W. Dennis of Longwood was received into her heavenly home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, May 26, 2011.
Born April 20, 1927 in Brunswick County, she was a daughter of the late James Ampie and Cora Ward. She was married icon to the late Calvin Dennis. She retired from the Brunswick County Schools System having lived her entire life in the Longwood/Ash community.
Survivors include her sister, Annie Grey Dennis of Albemarle, N.C.; her children, Doug and spouse Pam from Asheboro, N.C. and Jeff and spouse Sheryl from Six Mile, S.C.; step-children, Sandy Wilson from Thomasville, N.C. and Charlie Dennis from Thomasville, N.C.; five grandchildren, Stephen, Joshua, Elizabeth, Charlsie, and Charldon; two step-grandchildren, Hank and Randy; one great grandchild; three step-great grandchildren; and two step-great great children.
Friends are invited to visit the family at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 29th at Brunswick Funeral Service in Shallotte with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of any flowers, contributions may be made in Mabry Dennis’ memory to Southern Wesleyan University, Development Office, PO Box 1020, Central, SC 29630 or to Wesleyan Native Ministries, 1345 Monroe Ave. NW, Suite 234, Grand Rapids, MI 49505 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Dr. Gerald W. Albright of Ocean Isle Beach, NC and South Bethany Beach, DE, died at home in NC on Saturday, May 28th at age 79 after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Born December 3, 1931 in Lafayette, Minnesota, Jerry received his doctoral degree in 1957 from University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine and subsequently enjoyed a satisfying career advancing health and quality within the poultry industry both in this country and abroad.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Darleen Albright; four children; Eric Albright, (Wanda), of Dagsboro, DE, Scot Albright (Elna), of Tucson, AZ, Rolf Albright, (Dawn), of Dagsboro, DE; and Lisa Albright, (Mike), of Helena, AL; two brothers, Ron Albright, (Fran), of New Ulm, MN; and Jim Albright (Betty), of Lake City, MN; three grandchildren, Mike, Justen and Jena, and three great grandchildren.
Services will be private.
Thankfully, his final days were filled with numerous visits, calls, letters, and prayers from family & friends.

John James “Toby” Lewis, 68, of Longwood Road, Ash, NC died Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Brunswick Community Hospital.
Mr. Lewis was born August 7, 1942 to the late Joe and Hannah Bowling Lewis. He was an avid outdoors man and a member of the Coastal Coon Hunters Club. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Carol Ann Lewis, a son Bryan Keith Lewis, six brothers Albert, Earl, Fred, Bill, Sam and Wes Lewis, and three sisters, Ora Brown, Mary Martin and Ruth Johnson.
Surviving are his wife Linda Hewett Lewis; two sons James Craig Lewis, Supply, NC, Brent Robinson (Sherri) of Ash, NC; three daughters Lisa Lewis Varnam (Sammy), of Supply, NC, Kristi Lewis Cannon (Christopher) of Bolivia, NC, Kim Clemmons (Leamon) of Shallotte, NC; a sister, Evelyn Lewis Wescott of Boiling Spring Lakes, NC; grandchildren, Fisher and Colby Cannon, Lauren Lewis, Ashton, Tristan, and Rylan Lewis, Hunter and Easton Varnam, Jesse and Courtney Robinson, Jordan and Emily Clemmons.
Funeral Services will be conducted at Longwood Baptist Church on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. by the Reverend Merle Martin and Reverend Jeff Russ. Burial will follow in the H.L. Hewett Family Cemetery, Ash, NC.
Family will receive friends Sunday, July 17, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Varnam, Easton Varnam, Colby Cannon, Ryan Cooper, Dewayne Kirby, and Tal Grissett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Holden, Doug Rochelle, Heike Call, Members of Grissettown-Longwood Fire Department and Liberty Home Care & Hospice.

Peggy Newnam Harris, 60, of Shallotte went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center . She was born in Eden, NC on October 17, 1950, a daughter of David and Irvine Patterson Newnam .
Surviving are son, Robert Lee Stokes, III of Shallotte; daughter, Rebecca O’Neal Todd, husband Wayne, of Shallotte; brothers, Daniel D. Newnam, wife Judy, of Wilson and John W. Newnam of Summerfield, NC; sister, Patsy J. Bradshaw, husband Arnold, of Reidsville, NC; four grandchildren; and Best Friend, Terri Davis of Shallotte.
She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Memorial services will be conducted at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, July 20, at Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel, Shallotte, NC.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
