SHELBY — Ms. Jerry Ann Camp Hall, 63, of 1744 Main St., and W. Warwick St. in Providence, R.I., departed this life Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Rhode Island Hospital.
She was born Feb. 3, 1943, in Hackensack, N.J., and was the daughter of the late Florence Connally Camp and Mr. and Mrs. Everette King Camp.
She was a 1961 graduate of Cleveland High School in Shelby and was a former member of Waddell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. After high school, she moved to Ohio and Connecticut, eventually setting up residence in Providence, where she lived until her death. She was employed with T.J. Healey in Warwick, R.I., until her health failed her.
She was a very outspoken, loving, joyful person who enjoyed life. She also enjoyed cooking and going shopping.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Johnnie Hall; brother, Preston Camp; and grandson, Zachary.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Anthony Hall and wife, Michelina, of Providence; three grandchildren, Terrell, Ciara and Anthony; one great-grandson, Jonnell; one uncle, Willie “Bill” Camp of Shelby; a sister-in-law, Geneva Gay of Seattle; special cousins, Ezra Bridges and Charles and Laura Jamerson, all of Shelby; and a host of other cousins and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Friday from 1:20 to 2 p.m. at Waddell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and other times at the home of her cousins, Charles and Laura Jamerson, 831 Morgan St., Shelby.

SHELBY — Mrs. Beth McSwain Gilbert, 83, of 698 W. Sumter St., died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a wife and mother and member of Shelby Presbyterian Church. She was a former church elder, Sunday school teacher and youth leader. She was a member of the Junior Charity League and served on the original board of Life Enrichment Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Lane Gilbert Jr., and parents, Peyton McSwain and Ethel Parker McSwain.
She is survived by sons, Pete Gilbert and wife, Allison, of Shelby and Henry Gilbert of Fallston.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Friday after the service at Shelby Presbyterian Church.

‘Bobby B’ Brown
Died Feb. 2, 2007
LAWNDALE — Mr. George William “Bobby B” Brown, 77, of 118 Heath Drive, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at the Veterans Extended Care Facility in Asheville.
A native of Summitt, N.J., Mr. Brown was a retired, disabled Vietnam veteran of the Army. He also retired from Lawndale Mills. He was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by mother, Ila Brown; father, Tom London; grandmother, Eula Brown; brother, Ed Brown; and two grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Ross; two daughters, Phyllis Brown Robinson and husband, William, and Cheryl Brown-Rae and husband, Bobby; three sons, Kendall Brown and Anthony Brown, both of Fort Washington, Md., and George T. Brown of Washington, D.C.; two stepdaughters, Lisa Elliott Watkins and husband, Marvin, of Gaffney, S.C., and Sherrye Elliott of Shelby. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren, including special grandson, Robert Rae of Fort Washington; and special cousins, Gene and Jeanette Brown, Arlie Andrews and Gwen Lewis.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lawndale.

SHELBY — Mrs. Lois Bishop Hoyle, 86, of 110 Philbeck St., died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at home.
Born in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late F.O. and Julia Day Bishop. A graduate of Shelby School of Nursing, she worked for many hospitals in several states as a registered nurse. She previously worked at Cleveland Memorial Hospital and retired from Roses. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Shelby and was a volunteer with the American Red Cross.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Flay Hoyle; a brother, Louis F. Bishop; and sisters, Alma McCall Broome, Ruby Bishop Bowman and Ruth Bishop Robinson.
She is survived by daughters, Judith Hoyle Adkins and husband, Ken, of Fort Mill, S.C., and Deborah Hoyle Bridges and husband, Tommy, of Shelby; brothers, Oscar Bishop, Harold Bishop and wife, Marie, and David Lee Bishop and wife, Desola, all of Hickory; special sister, Louise Bishop of Hickory, who had been her companion and caregiver for the past year; grandchildren, Leigh Adkins and Alisha Adkins of Fort Mill, Chad McSwain and wife, Jennifer, Chrissy Wince and husband, Kenny, Ryan Brown and Tammy Walker and husband, Tim; and great-grandchildren, Bethany Walker, Rachel Wince, Carson Wince and Taylor McSwain.
Visitation: The family will receive friends today from 1 to 2 in the Ladies’ Parlor at First Baptist Church of Shelby and other times at the home of Deborah and Tommy Bridges, 637 Ware Road, Shelby.

CHERRYVILLE — Mr. James L. Whitworth, 61, of 6476 Highway 274, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born Feb. 21, 1945. He was the son of Ollie Mae Dellinger Whitworth of Waco and the late J. L. Whitworth.
He was an overhauler in the textile mills and member of North Brook Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 42 years, Eunice Adams Whitworth; two sons, Christopher Whitworth and wife, Glenda, of Vale, and Michael Whitworth and wife, Tammy, of Cherryville; three granddaughters, Kristen Whitworth of Vale and Rebekah and Jessica Whitworth of Cherryville; a sister, Susan Clary and husband, Ralph, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.: and numerous nieces and nephews.

SHELBY — Mr. Phillip H. Yelton, 76, of W. Elm St., died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Albert Ross Yelton and Effie Pearson Yelton.
Mr. Yelton served in the Air Force and retired as a truck driver with Carolina Freight after 31 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Torry Yelton.
He is survived by his sons, Phillip Allen Yelton and wife, Kimberly, of Burlington, Kan., Tony Lee Yelton and wife, Birtha, of Kings Mountain, Randy Scott Yelton of Shelby; daughter, Lori Elizabeth Donahue of Shelby; sister, Evonne Yelton Ashe of Shelby; grandchildren, Sage and Elijah Yelton, T.J. and Ryan Donahue and Trace Waylon Yelton; and special friend, Elizabeth Baker Yelton.
