Visitation: The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Crowe’s Funeral Home.
Funeral: Thursday at 3 p.m. at Fellowship Holiness Church

Died Dec. 19, 2006
SHELBY — Mrs. Lucille Doty Lee, affectionately known as “Granny” died peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. She is now at rest with her Heavenly Father as well as her husband of 62 years, Berry Wilson Lee.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Fay and Bertha Doty; three brothers, J.D., Jack and Clyde Doty; and stepmother, Marie Hamrick Doty.
No matter where Granny was, she always wanted to tell you about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and how very proud she was of each of them.
Lucille was a lifelong member of Eastside Baptist Church of Shelby, where she held numerous offices over the years. She was a proud member of the Ruth Sunday school class and loved the ladies dearly. She enjoyed gardening of all types, both flowers and vegetables, and quilting.
She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
She is survived by two loving children, a son, Donald Wilson Lee and wife, Mary, of Kings Mountain, and a daughter, Judy Lee Jones and husband, Tom, of Belmont. She also has three grandchildren, Kim Morris and husband, Jeff, of Thomasville, Brian Lee and wife, Carolyn, of Lattimore and Ginger Fern and husband, Jeremy, of Shelby. In addition, she has three great-grandchildren, Gina Morris, Evan Lee and Andy Morris. Other survivors include a brother, Charles Doty and wife, Aileen, of Newton, and a sister, Margaret McSwain of Shelby; and many loving extended family members.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and other times at the home of Don and Mary Lee.

Died Dec. 17, 2006
SHELBY — Ms. Roberta A. Partlow, 82, of Shelby, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.
A native of Clover, S.C., she was preceded in death by her parents, Smith and Janie Matthews Ashe; stepmother, Mary Smith Ashe; and siblings, Jessie A. Gordon, Nancy A. Byrd, Mahalia Ashe, Bertha A. Phillips, Lillian Ashe, Andrew Ashe, Charles Ashe, R.B. Ashe, Elvin Ashe, Cleo A. Wallace and Grover L. Ashe.
She attended Cleveland School, was a member of the NAACP and Good Samaritan Baptist Church. She volunteered for many organizations and received awards for volunteering from the Disabled American Veterans and Kidney Foundation. She worked for several agencies, including the Salvation Army and Shelby Convalescent Nursing Home, and as a housekeeper for Dr. J.B. Gentry and the Meachem family.
Survivors include five children, Alberta Partlow, Cecil Partlow and wife, Margaret, and Marilyn Partlow, all of Shelby, Diana Dunlap and husband, George, of Charlotte and Mary Partlow of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a sister, Sarah A. Jones of Shelby; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Visitation: The family will receive friends tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 at Dockery’s Funeral Home; Thursday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Good Samaritan Baptist Church and other times at 125 Brookhill Road, Shelby.

BURNSVILLE — Mrs. Lila Wilson Harrison, 78, of Highway 80 S., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006.
A native of McDowell County, she was a daughter of the late Worley and Gertrude Wilson and the wife of the late Robert Harrison. She was a member of Mount Mitchell Baptist Church. Also preceding her in death was a son, Jerry Harrison, and a brother, Perry Wilson.
She is survived by four sons, Larry Harrison and wife, Brenda, of Shelby, Mike Harrison and wife, Betty, of Marion and Mark Harrison and wife, Sandy, of Burnsville; brother, Charles Wilson and wife, Sue, of Kelso, Wash.; sister, Charlotte Raymond of Kissimmee, Fla.; sister-in-law, Mildred Wilson of Old Fort; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home, Burnsville.

SHELBY — Ms. Evelyn Hord Roberts, 95, formerly of Carillon Assisted Living, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at White Oak Manor of Kings Mountain.

Mr. Richard Dean Toney
Mr. Richard Dean Toney, 46, Rutherfordton, died Friday, February 3, 2012.
He was the son of Don Toney of Rutherfordton and the late Louise Fisher Toney. He was a sales representative at Toney's #2, and a member of Temple Baptist Church in Henrietta.
In addition to his father, he is survived by two brothers, Bruce "Slash" Toney of Rutherfordton, and Victor E. Lovelace of Union Mills; three sisters, Sandra Sexton of Marshall, AR, Christee Joyce Lovelace of Rutherfordton, and Maresa Lovelace of Lincolnton.
The Funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Crestview Baptist Church. Rev. Sam Henderson, Rev. Kelly Luckadoo, and Rev. Kevin Rohm will officiate. Burial will follow in the First Broad Baptist Church cemetery.
The Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:30 PM Friday at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.

Forrest Poole
May 12, 1925 – Jan. 5, 2007
SHELBY — Mr. Forrest Poole, 82, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at Century Care, surrounded by his family.
A native of Shelby, Mr. Poole was a son of the late Clayton and Effie Clark Poole. Mr. Poole was proud to serve his country in World War II in the Navy as a second class petty officer. He served on the USS LaVallette, and was stationed in Brooklyn, Argentina, Newfoundland, Jacksonville, Fla., and Beaufort, S.C.
Mr. Poole was a loyal employee of Lily Mill Company (later Belding-Lily) for 40 years. He began his distinguished career with Lily in the spinning room, then spent the next 25 years as a sales representative, followed by seven years as the purchasing agent and traffic manager. When Belding-Lily closed, he enjoyed three years of work at the Riverbend Golf Club. He was a member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church.
Mr. Poole will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest treasure was his family. His happiest times were family beach vacations and time spent with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Poole was a wonderful provider who worked many long hours and always put his family first. His children are proud that he instilled in them, through example and involvement, a sense of creativity and spirit in everything they do. Mr. Poole was always the team sponsor, coach, project creator, costume maker, and supporter of every aspect of his children’s lives.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Poole was preceded in death by his brother Ralph Poole and sister Mozelle Poole Paterson.
Mr. Poole is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hilda Ivester Poole; sons Clark Poole and wife, Theresa, of Rutherfordton, Bryant Poole of Robbinsville, and Keith Poole and wife, Barbara, of Hendersonville; and daughter Tierney Poole Fairchild and husband, Jim, of Harrisburg. He is also survived by grandchildren Bill Poole, Allyson Hutchby, Laura Moore, Christian Poole, Ian Poole, and Maegan and Macey Fairchild, as well as great-grandchildren William Hutchby and Gavin Moore.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Jones, Dr. Jones’ nurse Jane, and Dr. Stephen Jones for their care during Mr. Poole’s illness. They also express sincere appreciation to Cleveland County Hospice and Palliative Care, Helping Hands, and the wonderful caregivers at Century Care Nursing Center, Hall A.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services.

LINCOLNTON — Mr. Larry Steve Gilbert, 59, of 965 Anderson Lane, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007.
A native of Cleveland County, Mr. Gilbert worked for Duke Energy as an engineer.
Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Vicky Heafner Gilbert of the home; son, Matthew Gilbert of Unicoi, Tenn.; parents, Hal Burton and Helen “Johnnie” Gilbert of Lincolnton; and sister Robin Gilbert Burns of Houston.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Monday following the service.
