Mrs. Selma V. Honaker
BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. -- Mrs. Selma Vee Honaker, 80, of Blairsville died Tuesday.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in House of Prayer Interdenominational Church by the Revs. Charles Black and Jerry Helton. Burial will be in Union Memory Gardens cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Cochran Funeral Home.
Among Mrs. Honaker’s survivors is a daughter, the Rev. Martha A. Honaker of Fayetteville, N.C.

HILLSBOROUGH -- Mrs. Claytie Blackburn Lewis, 72, of 2926 Little River Drive, formerly of Bladen County, died Wednesday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hudson Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Earl Echols. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by her husband, William C. Lewis; two sons, Phil S. Lewis of Fayetteville and Lionel C. Lewis of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; two daughters, Gayle Cox of Greensboro and Paula Coble of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, Roger A. Blackburn of Raleigh; six sisters, Eldene Tessenear of Portsmouth, Va., Velma Edwards of Bladenboro, Evelyn Russ, Gladys Russ and Willie M. Evans, all of Elizabethtown, and Margaret Evans of Lumberton; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

CHADBOURN -- Joel Richard “J.R.” Hunt Sr., 72, of Chadbourn died Wednesday in his home.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a retired law enforcement officer.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Clarendon Baptist Church by the Rev. Floyd Enzor. Burial will be in Forest Lawn cemetery in Tabor City.
Mr. Hunt is survived by a son, Joel R. Hunt Jr. of Whiteville; a daughter, Carolyn H. Fleming of Lugoff, S.C.; three sisters, Hazel Roudabush of Wilmington, Alene Carter of Durham and Edna Stephens of Clarendon; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

COCOA, Fla. -- John D. Sanderson, 94, of Cocoa, formerly of Pembroke, N.C., died Wednesday in his home.

Mr. Sanderson is survived by two daughters, Sarah S. Lowery of Cocoa and Dorothy Lambert of Charleston, S.C.; a son, Curtis “Junior” McGirt of Columbia, Mo.; two sisters, Elizabeth McGirt and Eunice Sampson, both of Pembroke; a brother, Ancil Sanderson Sr. of Pembroke; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Catherine Shapter Ledbetter Taylor, 73, of 327 Fairfield Road, Fayetteville, died Monday.
Mrs. Taylor was a minister of music at Trinity Baptist Church for more than 17 years, and was a member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. She was a music instructor at Fayetteville Technical Institute and volunteered for the Baptist Mission Board to Samoa and Uraguay.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Snyder Memorial Baptist Church by the Revs. David Crocker, T.J. Fulk and James L. Taylor. Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband, James H. Taylor Jr. of the home; four daughters, Linda C. Taylor of New York, Carolyn T. Reichert of Ocala, Fla., Patty T. Harris of Mocksville and Janet D. Taylor of Nashville, Tenn.; a son, the Rev. James L. Taylor of Lillington; a sister, Margaret Day of Marion; two brothers, Allen Ledbetter of Birmingham, Ala., and Howard Ledbetter of Tulsa, Okla.; and nine grandchildren.

CLINTON -- Ralph Aldene “R.A.” Burgess Jr., 44, of 50 Rackley Road died Tuesday in his home.
Mr. Burgess was a volunteer at Garland Fire Department and was captain of the Sampson County Fire Association Honor Guard. He was a mobile home serviceman.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rowan Baptist Church by the Revs. Tony Moore and Greg Day. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Burgess is survived by a daughter, Angela B. Graddy of Clinton; two sons, James A. Burgess and Brian R. Burgess, both of Clinton; his mother, Sentell M. Burgess of Clinton; a sister, Julie Daughtry of Salemburg; and five grandchildren.
