William, Alfred, Arthur and Charlie, Eva's brothers, as well as her parents, preceded her in death. On Oct. 5, 1935, Eva wed Joseph Henry Clyburn. To this union a daughter, Sandra Patricia, was born. Joseph has also gone home to be with the Lord. Eva was a longtime member of Dreamland Park Missionary Baptist Church. She was employed for many years with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and upon retiring Eva went back to school and earned her high-school diploma at the young age of 55. It was a lifelong dream fulfilled and a tribute that age should not keep anyone from reaching their personal goals. In 1989, Eva relocated to Maryland, where she immediately joined Goshen United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg, Md. Eva had a beautiful voice and loved to praise the Lord through gospel songs. Before her illness, she enjoyed touring and singing with the senior choir. During her illness, gospel music gave her much joy and comfort. A feisty soldier to the end, she fought a long and courageous battle, but God said, "It is time to rest. Come sing in my heavenly choir." She was a living testimony of God's grace and glory. Left to celebrate her life and cherish her lessons are a loving and devoted daughter, Sandra Patricia Thomas; a beloved grandson, Duane Rashaad Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
