KERNERSVILLE - Ms. Nancy Lou King, 55, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at High Point Regional Hospital. Ms. King was born June 6, 1946, in Forsyth County, a daughter of the late Charles and Bessie Calhoun King. She is survived by her fiance Randy Cross of High Point; two sons, Kenneth and his wife Lisa Bledsoe of Kernersville and Alex Bledsoe of Walkertown; a sister, Ruth and her husband Ronnie Campbell of Charlotte; and two brothers, Dexter "Pete" and his wife Diane King and Charles King, all of Thomasville. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 13, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville by the Rev. Jerry Perdue and the Rev. Don Collins. Burial will follow at Boyles Chapel Primitive Baptist Church cemetery in King. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Kenneth Bledsoe, 6075 Beech View Lane, Avondale Estates, Kernersville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Nancy Lou King Funeral Expense Fund, P.O. Box 1506, Kernersville, NC 27285-1506.
KOLB
Mrs. "Junie" Louise Fleenor Kolb died at her home Thursday, May 10, 2001. She was born in Winston -Salem March 23, 1944, to Wiley O. Fleenor and Jane Nading Fleenor. Mrs. Kolb was a lifelong member of Centenary United Methodist Church. A graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School, she also attended Salem College. She was retired from the A.B.C. Board. Junie was a gifted painter and sculptress and was well-known as a fantastic gourmet chef. She is survived by her daughter, Heather K. Bauguss and husband Bill of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Janie F. Jenkins and husband Jarman of Winston-Salem, Sally F. Reed and husband Fred of Erie, Pa., and Louise Lea Nading of Winston-Salem; a grandson, Michael Bauguss of Charlotte; and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements for a memorial service are incomplete but will be announced by Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Circle 13 of Centenary United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 658, Winston-Salem, NC 27102.
MARTIN
MOUNT AIRY - Mr. Ralph William Martin, 57, of 167 Marvin Lane, husband of Mrs. Betty Brooks Martin, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Northern Hospital of Surry County, Mount Airy. Mr. Martin was born on Feb. 17, 1944, in Surry County, son of the late Coy William and Myrtle Bishop Martin. Mr. Martin was employed as a paper carrier by the Winston-Salem Journal and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Betty Brooks Martin of the home; stepmother Muriel Martin of Kernersville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and John Blakely of East Bend and Tonya and Terry Sechrist of Mount Airy; a son, Jeff Martin of the home; five grandchildren; Brittany Martin, Kristian Blakely, Crue Martin, Jerry Blakely and Julie Blakely; a stepgrandson, Chad Key; two sisters and brothers-in-law; Rachel and Larry Young and Pauline Webster, all of Kernersville; and four brothers and sisters-in-law; Charles and Dorothy Martin and Lewis and Faye Martin, all of Fancy Gap, Va., Paul Wayne and Freda Martin of Hillsville, Va., and Carlos and Kim Martin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by a son, Greg Martin; an infant daughter, Anita Sue Martin and a granddaughter, Jessica Martin. The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy conducted by the Rev. Doug Butcher and the Rev. James Odum. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Saturday night at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted.
SINK
LEXINGTON - Mr. Willie Ray Sink, 79, of 6167 Highway 150 N. died suddenly at 5:37 p.m. Thursday at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Egbert Craven will officiate. Burial will be in Good Hope United Methodist Church cemetery. He was born March 14, 1922, in Davidson County to Thomas Herman Sink and Clara Beard Sink. He was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the men's Bible class at his church. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Hege Sink of the home; a son, Ray Dean Sink and wife Carolyn of Lexington; a daughter, Judy Sink Callahan and husband Phil of Lexington; five grandchildren, Tracy Callahan, Trent Callahan, Shannon Sink, Emily Sink and Kayla Sink, all of Lexington; two great-grandchildren, Brooke Callahan and Tyler Callahan of Lexington; and three sisters, Florence Sowers and Frances Beeker of Lexington and Edna Pressley of Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1943, Lexington, NC 27293. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
WASHINGTON
Mr. William Marion "Buck" Washington, 59, of 4515 Whittier Road departed this life on May 9, 2001. Mr. Washington was born Nov. 14, 1941, in Rural Hall to Irene (Poindexter) and Foster Washington. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. His parents; a son, Darold Washington; and a sister, Carrie Lee Hauser preceded him in eternal life. Of the home, he leaves to honor his memory his wife, Dwyanette "Dee"; a son, Cornelius "C.J."; a daughter, Tasmin Washington; and a devoted nephew, Michael Hauser. He is also cherished by sons, Antwan Washington of Houston, Texas, Tam Washington of Atlanta, Ga. and Gary Washington of Winston-Salem and a daughter, Sandra Amos of Winston-Salem. In addition, Mr. Washington is survived by devoted siblings, Frances Watson, Jackie Greene and Carl Washington of the city and Winifred Jackson of Washington, D.C. He is also survived by a loving great-aunt, Connie Douthit; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other faithful family members and friends. Memorial services for Mr. Washington will be held at 12 noon Monday, May 14, 2001, at Piney Grove Baptist Church. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service. WRIGHT
RURAL HALL - Mrs. Sallie Norman Wright, 87, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at Springwood Care Center of Forsyth. She was born Oct. 10, 1913, in Surry County to Goodman A. and Ella Vanhoy Norman. Mrs. Wright was a member of Goldfloss Baptist Chapel and was retired from Knollwood Hall after 15 years of service. Survivors include a son, William D. Wright and wife Yulsa of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Pearl Norman and Gertha Barker of Winston-Salem; and a brother, Coy Norman and wife Phyllis of Anchorage, Alaska. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Vogler & Sons Main Street Chapel by the Rev. John E. Sealeyl. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
BAILEY
Mary Allen Bailey, 80, of Arbor Acres died May 14, 2001. She was a graduate of Salem Academy and Bluefield College. Her husband, John Clifford Bailey, preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Frances Williams of Southport and Salli Bailey John of Winston-Salem; two granddaughters, Heather Sherfinski and Ashley Robbins; two grandsons, David Johnson and Allen John; a sister, Sallie Allen Brevick of Bluefield, W.Va.; and a brother, Conrad Allen Brevick of Aiken, S.C. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Howard G. Backus officiating. The family will receive friends in the church parlor after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church.

ROCKWELL - Mrs. Maribeth "Beth" King Bost, 53, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Rowan Regional Medical Center. She was born Aug. 21, 1947, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to the late Beatrice Gicking King and Everette King. She was a 1966 graduate of Boyden High School and was the president of DLB Trucking of Rockwell. Mrs. Bost was a member of Grace Lowerstone United Church of Christ, where she was a former Sunday-school teacher, a mem-ber of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 317 and the director of Rockwell Civic Girls Softball League. Surviving are her husband, Donald Lynn Bost Sr., whom she married March 29, 1970; two sons, Paul Everette Bost and Donald Lynn Bost Jr. of Rockwell; a daughter, Sharon Bost Porozynski of the home; three brothers, Edward King of Winston-Salem, Eugene King of Lexington and Charles King of Salisbury; a sister, Beatrice K. Goodnight of Salisbury; and three grandchildren. A mem-orial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lowerstone United Church of Christ, Rockwell, with the Rev. Jim Staunton, the pastor of Ursinus United Church of Christ. The family will receive friends at the church after the memorial service. Mrs. Faye Brunice Staley Childress, 77, a resident of Winston-Salem, died Tuesday morning, May 15, 2001, in the Forsyth Medical Center. She was born May 24, 1923, in Wilkes County, a daughter to the late Ransom Staley and Maggie Long Staley. She was a retired employee with North Wilkes-boro Speedway and was associated with the Halonite Fire Systems. Mrs. Childress was a member of Vernon Forest Baptist Church and the Adult Choir. On Nov. 4, 1944, she was married to Gaither M. "Gate" Childress, who preceded her in death Nov. 24, 1969. Surviving are a son, Lance D. Childress and wife Pat of Winston-Salem; four sisters, Reba Jarvis, Mrs. Nadine Sale and husband George and Mrs. Marie Miller, all of North Wilkesboro, and Mrs. Eileen Howard of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Kip Childress and wife Jenny and Kristi Culbreth and husband Chip; and a great-grand-daughter, Sarah Childress. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Vernon Forest Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terry Coates and the Rev. Billy S. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Childress will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, 10301 N. N.C. Highway 109, Wallburg, until taken to he church 30 minutes before the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Gilmer Ellis "Ham" Collette, Sr., 80, of Winston-Salem died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born June 1, 1920, in Davie County to William Simpson and Nellie Stonestreet Collette. Mr. Collette served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Greyhound Bus Lines with 40 years of service. Preceding him in death were a brother, Guy Collette, and three sisters, Fleeda Bell Etchison, Era Latham and Wilma Keller. Surviving are his wife, Della Spillman Collette of the home; a daughter, Marty C. Kiger and husband Larry of Winston-Salem; a son, Mo Collette and wife Sheri of Lewisville; three grandsons, Jay Collette, who is serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Ponce, Will Collette of Hickory and Lee Collette of Lewisville; four stepgrand-children, Shannon K. Temple-ton and husband Mike, Suzette Kiger, Stacey D. Kiger and wife Mary and Shayne Kiger and wife Michelle; six stepgreat-grand-children, Christopher, Jessica, Kimberlee, Kaitlyn, Andrew and Mary Kate; two sisters, Thelma Driver and Margaret Edwards; and a host of special family and friends who will miss his helping hands and gentle ways. "He has been a very special part of my life and I have learned many things that I am only now beginning to realize." (Jay). BOONVILLE - Thomas Henry "Tommy" Hinshaw, 63, died May 15, 2001, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Hazel, of the home. Arrangements are incomplete. Mackie-Reavis Fun-eral Home of Yadkinville is serving the family.
KIGER
Mr. Jasper Thomas "J.T." Kiger Sr., 74, died early Tuesday morning, May 15, 2001, at the Forsyth Medical Center after a period of declining health. A native of Forsyth County, he was born Jan. 22, 1927, to the late Jasper Ellis and Lucy Mae Dalton Kiger. Mr. Kiger was of the Baptist faith. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. After military service, he was employed by Sara Lee Hosiery (Leggs Division) for more than 40 years, when he retired. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charlie Thomas "Tommy" Kiger in March of this year. Surviving is his loving wife of 38 years, Mrs. Mae Carter Kiger; two sons, Junior Kiger and wife Christine of Pinnacle and Charles Kiger of Rural Hall; a daughter, Martha Jane Kiger of Germanton; three step-daughters, Gail Slate and husband Cliff of Walnut Cove, Donna Mabe of Stokesdale and Johnnie Mae Marsh and husband Bobby of Germanton; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also sur-viving are a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall, with the Rev. John T. Byerly officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends and relatives from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
KLEIN
CLEMMONS - Mrs. Elizabeth Hux "Joe Ann" Klein, 76, formerly of Salisbury, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at The Oaks of Forsyth, Winston-Salem. She was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Columbus, Miss., to Betty Lee Hux and John Hux. Mrs. Klein was educated in the Columbus, Miss., schools. She was employed by the U.S. State Department's Agency for International Development in Washington, D.C., for 33 years before retiring June 30, 1976. Mrs. Klein was a member of Milford Hills United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Her husband, Francis Paul "Fritz" Klein, preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1994. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Rowan Memorial Park, with the Rev. Neill Shaw, the minister of Milford Hills United Methodist Church, officiating. Mrs. Klein will remain at the Summersett Funeral Home until taken to the cemetery for the graveside service. Memorials may be made to Milford Hills United Methodist Church, 1630 States-ville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144.

ROANOKE RAPIDS - Mrs. Dovie Crouch Lynch, 86, died Sunday, May 13, 2001. She was the mother of Walter Graham Lynch III and his wife Bonnie, and the grandmother of Anne Wright and her husband Alan and Mary Budd (deceased) and her husband Joe, all of Winston-Salem.
MACKIE
YADKINVILLE - Mr. Roger Dallas Mackie, 78, of Yadkinville, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Freddie Braswell, the Rev. Richard Eskew and the Rev. Keith Kannenberg at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at Maplewood Baptist Church, where Mr. Mackie was a member. Burial will be in the Harmony Grove Friends cemetery. Mr. Mackie was born in Yadkin County on Feb. 26, 1923, the son of Dallas A. and Ethel Bryant Mackie. He graduated from Yadkinville High School in 1941, attended Draughn Business College and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Mackie was retired from Kraft Foods, with 24 years service. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Mr. John F. Moseley Jr. of Elkin and Mr. Harvey E. McGee of Yadkinville. Surviving are his wife of 591/2 years, Nancy Gross Mackie of the home; daughter Debbie Mackie of Lewisville; son Steve (Ginny) Mackie; two sisters, Lucille Moseley of Elkin and Edith McGee of Yadkinville; niece Janet Moseley of Elkin; nephew Jay Moseley of Pilot Mountain, and several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 Saturday evening, May 19, at Gentry Family Funeral Home, 601 N., Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Maplewood Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Mr. Phillip Graham, 609 Coolidge St., Yadkinville, NC 27055. At this time the family would like to express their loving gratitude to all the doctors and nurses of Forsyth Medical Center for their special care to Mr. Mackie. A special gratitude of thanks goes to his medical doctor, Jerry Ziglar, Medical Center, Yadkinville and cardiologist of 17 years Dr. Theodore Keith, Forsyth Cardiology Associates, Winston-Salem.

JEFFERSON - Mrs. Beulah Mabel Nichols Miller, 100, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Seagraves Nursing Care Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at West Jefferson First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ken Morris. Burial will be in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Boone Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Miller was born in Wilkes County on March 6, 1901, to James T. Nichols and Lula Eller Nichols. She was a homemaker. Her parents and her husband, Thurman G. Miller, preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, Dr. C.E. Miller and Calvin H. Miller, both of West Jefferson and T.G. Miller of Raleigh; four daughters, Virginia Wagoner of Jefferson, Louise Hinshaw of Huntsville, Ala., Anna Deane Harless of Quinton, Va., and Sherry Francis of King George, Va.; a sister, Arlene Hunter of Seabring, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grand-children; and several nieces and nephews. LEXINGTON - Creola McBride Myers of Crews Lake Road, died Monday, May 14, at the Wake Forest University-Baptist Med-ical Center after an unexpected illness. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at Mount Carmel United Meth-odist Church, where she was a member, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Ronald Mann. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Myers was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Davidson County to Gray McBride and Viola Barnes McBride. She was a retired employee of Reeds School Cafeteria. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie McBride. Surviving are her spouse, Billy T. Myers of the home; son Bobby Thomas Myers of Winston-Salem; daughter Wanda Barnes and husband John Barnes of Lexington; five grandchildren, Lisa Whitaker, Brandon Myers, Wendy Myers, Travis Myers and Holly Myers; three great-grandchildren, Macey Myers, Hannah Whitaker and Makayla Whitaker; brothers Bill McBride of Churchland, Frank McBride of Advance and Don McBride of Sarasota, Fla.; and sisters Wilma Smith and Ellen Parnell, both of Lexington, Elizabeth Grubb and Irene Grubb, both of Churchland. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
