MOSER
Mrs. Katie Belle Crouch Moser, 79, of Meadowbrook Manor, Clemmons, died after a lengthy illness Friday, Jan. 26, 2001. She was born Jan. 24, 1922, to Edward L. and Nadia Puryear Crouch in Forsyth County. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Moser was preceded in death by two brothers, John Crouch and Walter Crouch. She is survived by her husband Thurman C. Moser of Meadowbrook Manor in Clemmons; two daughters, Thurma Moser Dudley of Winston-Salem and Linda M. Brewer and husband Tommy of Lexington; three grandchildren, Melinda Dudley Odom, Jeffrey Dudley and Pamela D. Brewer; three great-grandchildren, Justin and William Odom, and Joseph Dudley; two brothers, Frank Crouch of Greensboro and Carl Crouch of North Miami, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held noon Monday, Jan. 29, at Trinity United Methodist Church by Rev. Ervin Houser. The family will receive friends following the service at the church, 3819 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, N.C., with food and fellowship to follow the service.
MUTO
Mr. Anthony Falcon Muto, 69, of Winston-Salem died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1931, in Harrisburg, Pa., to Phillip Anthony and Geneva Kost Muto. Mr. Muto was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Exchange Club, SCAN Foundation and a former board member of Northwest Forsyth American Little League. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Elizabeth McCullough Muto. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Peggy Howard Muto of the home; three daughters, Ms. Toni Workmen of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Susan Davis and husband Frank of Rocky Mount and Mrs. Regina Grady of Clemmons; two sons, Michael Muto and wife Dana, and William Muto of Winston-Salem; 10 grandchildren, Benjamin, Daniel and Katherine Muto; Emily and Sarah Workmen; Jan Marie Hanes; Jonathan Davis; and Chris, David and Jonathan Grady; two great-grandchildren, Ana Hanes and Brina Grady; and one brother and one sister, Phillip Muto and Mrs. Rosanna Dulak of Pennsylvania. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank O’Rourke officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem/-Forsyth County, 1100-C S. Stratford Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
RAULERSON
Baby Abigail Marie Raulerson died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. Surviving are her parents, Mark and Debbie Salling Raulerson of Clemmons; maternal grand-parents, Mary and Don Salling of Winston-Salem; and paternal grandparents, JoAnn and Charles Dunn of Clemmons. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons with Dr. George Carpenter officiating. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
SAPP
PINNACLE — Mr. Eugene Clinton Sapp Jr., 35, of Pinnacle died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born March 11, 1965, in Forsyth County to Eugene Clinton and Bonnie Marlow Sapp Sr. Mr. Sapp was of the Baptist faith, an avid outdoorsman, loving husband and father-to-be. Survivors are his wife, Sabrina D. Sapp with the impending birth of the first child of the home; his parents; three sisters, Debbie Fulk and husband Mark of Roaring River, Gail Smith and husband Mike of Clemmons and Becky Gibertsen of Courtney; maternal grand-mother Oma Marlow of Lewisville, paternal grand-mother Sarah Flynt of Winston-Salem, several nieces and nephews and many special friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Grapevine Baptist Church by Rev. Ronnie Comer and Rev. Otis Clampitt. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
SIZEMORE
Mr. Garry Blaine Sizemore, 48, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Sizemore was co-founder of Little Richard’s BBQ Restaurants in 1991 in Winston-Salem, Clemmons and Yadkinville. In 1992 he co-founded Eastern Food Equipment Co. Mr. Sizemore was previously employed with Foodcraft Equipment Co. for 17 years. He was also on the board of Midway Fire Department for six years. Mr. Sizemore was an active member of Canaan United Methodist Church. Mr. Sizemore was preceded in death by his mother, Naoma Beeson Sizemore. Survivors are wife Laura Berrier Sizemore of the home; son Joel Sizemore and wife Lisa, daughter Jennifer and husband Doug Maready and daughter Sarah Sizemore of Winston-Salem; father McDaniel Sizemore and wife Wilma of Lexington; two brothers, Dannie and wife Marie and Barry and wife Dottie of Lexington; and eight nephews and nieces. Mr. Sizemore was a great uncle to Dylan Hemrick. A funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Canaan United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends 6:30-9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to either the Cancer Service, Inc., 3175 Maplewood Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Canaan United Methodist Church, 1760 Shady Grove Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
STAUBER
Mr. William (Bill) Franklin Stauber, 41, of Rural Hall died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Stauber was born Nov. 13, 1959, in Forsyth County to Leslie Edwin Stauber Jr. and Johanne Pfefferkorn Stauber. He spent all of his life in Rural Hall, graduating from North Forsyth High School. He studied music at the North Carolina School of the Arts. He performed and taught guitar for many years. He also worked with his father in his father’s business, the Rural Hall Veneer Company, Inc. He was a lifelong member of the Rural Hall Moravian Church. Surviving are his mother, Johanne Pfefferkorn Stauber of the home; sister Janet Stauber Moore and her husband H. Gill Moore of Rural Hall, nephew Benjamin E. Moore of Rural Hall; uncle William G. Pfefferkorn and his wife Jane of Winston-Salem; cousin Karl Pfefferkorn and his wife Katherine, son Joachim and daughter Eva of Charlottesville, Va.; cousin Paul Pfefferkorn and his wife Robin of Winston-Salem; cousin Katherine Johanne Pfefferkorn of Charlotte; uncle L. Gordon Pfefferkorn and his wife June of Winston-Salem; cousin Richard Pfefferkorn and his wife Lisa of Winston-Salem; cousin Susan Pfefferkorn of Winston-Salem; aunt June S. Fultz of Greensboro; cousin Donna Key and her husband Richard Key and daughter Caroline of Winston-Salem; and cousin David Fultz of Greensboro. Funeral services will be 12 noon Monday at Rural Hall Moravian Church by Rev. James C. Newsome Jr., Pastor. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Burial will follow at the Bethania Moravian Church Graveyard. Memorial may be made to Rural Hall Moravian Church, P.O. Box 487, Rural Hall, NC 27045. TAYLOR
Kovelka '`Kay’‘ Berona Taylor, 76, of Rural Hall, the wife of Edward J. Taylor, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at her home with her family at her side. Mrs. Taylor was born on Oct. 20, 1924, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of the late Angelina and Ralko Prerad. A resident of Milwaukee and then Chicago during her younger years, Mrs. Taylor obtained an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, worked as an executive assistant overseas for ARAMCO Oil Co., then worked in Los Angeles after World War II. She married Edward J. Taylor of Watertown, N.Y., in 1952 and became a homemaker, bearing five children. The young family settled in Greensboro in 1957 but moved north to the Philadelphia area in 1966. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor returned to North Carolina in 1975 and have lived in the Winston-Salem area since. An avid reader and antique collector who attended many auctions throughout the state, she was also a longtime volunteer at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Taylor had five children, and was preceded in death by her third child, Eric Ross Taylor. She is survived by her husband, Edward Taylor; three sons, Mark Edward Taylor and wife Ilene C. Wasserman, and J. Scott Taylor of the Philadelphia area, and Gregory Ross Taylor of Winston-Salem; and one daughter, Christine Taylor McGee and husband John G. McGee of Yadkinville. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Erin Wasserman Taylor and Matthew Wasserman Taylor. Kay was a loving mother and grandmother. The family would like to thank Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, in particular Amanda Bachman for her loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Taylor’s memory to Hospice of Winston-Salem, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 520 Summit St., Winston-Salem.
WEBER
Doris M. Weber of Kernersville passed away on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem. She was born Doris M. Tyler in Buffalo, N.Y., on July 10, 1927, and retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Buffalo. She is survived by sister Ethel Tyler of Buffalo, N.Y.; five children, Karen Scherer of Fayetteville, Barbara Barreto of Kernersville, Kathy Wilson of Buffalo, N.Y., Margaret Blalock of Linden and David Bryan of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Jill, Melissa, Jason, Andrew, T.J., Andrea, Kal and Jonathan; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Madeline. The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Hanes Lineberry Pierce Chapel, Kernersville. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Cherry Street, Kernersville. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
WELCH
MOYOCK — Mrs. Marion Fiske Welch, 93, of 227 Tulls Creek Road, Moyock, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Va. She was born in Moyock in 1907, daughter of the late Richard Edward and Bessie Charlton Fiske and was the widow of the late John Davis Welch. She was a member of Moyock Baptist Church for over 80 years, serving as Sunday school teacher, Baptist Women’s president and organist. Mrs. Welch received a degree in English from Meredith College in 1929 where she served as president of the student body. She taught English and history in both Chowan and Currituck Counties. Later she served as Currituck County’s first public librarian. She gave much in service to her community as president of the Moyock Women’s Club where she began the Community Series and the Community Planning Board. She was an honorary lifetime member of the North Carolina Federation of Women’s Clubs. Mrs. Welch was a member of the Currituck County Historical Society and a former trustee of the Museum of the Albemarle. At the age of 75 Mrs. Welch published Moyock, a Pictorial and Folk History 1900 to 1920which recorded her lifetime love of Moyock, its customs and its people. Survivors include her two daughters, Marion Welch Thorn and husband William A Thorn of Moyock and Mollie Welch Rascoe and husband Robert B. Rascoe of Winston-Salem; three granddaughters, Winborne Thorn Macphail and her husband Cameron Macphail of Greensboro, Mollie Thorn James and her husband Philip James of Charlotte and Emily Rascoe Key and her husband Denny Key of Winston-Salem; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Moyock Baptist Church with Rev. Vic Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Moyock cemetery. The family will be at 227 Tulls Creek Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund of Moyock Baptist Church or to the Marion Fiske Welch Scholarship Fund at Meredith College. Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 East Church St., Elizabeth City, N.C., is in charge of arrangements.
ADAMS
YADKINVILLE — Mr. Gaston C. '`Cotton’‘ Adams, 78, of Union Cross Church Road passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at his home. He was born April 5, 1922, in Yadkin County to the late John Wesley and Hattie Bovender Adams. Mr. Adams was a lifetime member of Union Cross Friends Meeting where he served the church in various capacities. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army. Mr. Adams was a retired farmer and carpenter, and retired from UNIFI Inc. He was retired with 20 years of service as a member of the Fall Creek Fire Department and also served on the board of directors. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mary Ruth H. Adams of the home; a daughter, Frances (Paul A.) Wooten of East Bend; four sons, Robert W. (Brenda) Adams, and Gaston Eugene (Darlene) Adams, all of Yadkinville, Jerry C. (Sharon) Adams of East Bend and Jack R. (Sharon) Adams of Clemmons; grandchildren Paul A. (Jamie) Wooten Jr., Dara W. (Michael) Davis, Susan A. (Allen) Fletcher, Donald Adams, Ronald Adams, Shannon Adams, Heath Adams, Kara Adams, Geoff Adams and Andrea Adams; four great-grandchildren, Casey Davis, Wes Fletcher, Courtney Wooten and Chelsey Wooten; a sister, Vivian Harrison of Yadkinville; and three brothers, Jasper Adams of Yadkinville, LeeRoy Adams of East Bend and John Adams of Yadkinville. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by a brother, Claude Adams, and a sister, Opal Williams. His funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Union Cross Friends Meeting. He will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Highway 601 N., Yadkinville.
