Mrs. Geraldine Paige, 76, of 7A Skyline Village Apartments died Nov. 19, 2000, at Wake Forest University Medical Center. She was born Aug. 30, 1924, to the late Joe Bridget and Ellen Johnson Bridget. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie P. Paige. Surviving are two sons, Willie and Brenda Paige and Elijah Paige of Winston-Salem; three daughters, Mrs. Mary and David McCollum, Mrs. Doris Foster and Mrs. Queen and Frank Allen; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Mildred Ford; niece Ann Woods; nephew William Woods; special friend, Dorthy Deas of Maysville, S.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at the Frances S. & Jerry C. Gilmore Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Slate Olartey officiating. RAMSEY
Amy L. Ramsey, 62, of 3014 B. Darden Road, Greensboro, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem after an extended illness. She was born in McCormick, S.C., and raised in Asheville. She had been a resident of Greensboro for 20 years. She graduated from Stephens Lee High School in Asheville and retired from Bellsouth Telephone Co. after 25 years as an assistant manager. Ms. Ramsey later worked for the Greensboro Urban Ministries. She was a member of the Unity Church in Greensboro. Ms. Ramsey is survived by her loving son, Steven, and his wife, Sherry, of Kernersville; two special grandchildren and a dog that she loved dearly, Stefanie, Steven Jr. and Soldier, all of Kernersville; a brother, Victor Jones of Elberton, Ga.; a very special friend, Albert Dowling of Greensboro; and three extremely devoted friends, Mary Margaret Dougherty, Pat Moore and Shirley Stith, all of Greensboro. Also surviving are numerous cousins, great aunts and many good friends. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Unity at Greensboro. REECE
Randolph Hampton Reece, 81, a native of Winston-Salem, died at his home in Southport, Conn., after an extended illness. He was the son of Josephine Parris and Risden P. Reece. He graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and served in the U.S. Naval Air Force during World War II. After the war, he worked as a pilot for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines until his retirement. During the years he worked for KLM he flew to Asia, the Caribbean, the USA and piloted the inaugural flight when KLM started its services over the North Pole to Japan. He had the pleasure of flying Salem College groups and civic clubs from Winston-Salem to Amsterdam. In 1958, he was married to Dr. Julie DeLeeuw in Amsterdam. After a period of residence in Holland, they moved to Southport, Conn. He is survived by his wife of the home; a sister, Josephine Reece Vance of Winston-Salem; a brother Charles P. Reece of Wilkesboro; and nieces Josephine Avery of Stow, Mass., and Kate Hix and Elizabeth Lineberger of Winston-Salem; and nephews H.H. Vance III of San Antonio, Texas, Randolph Vance of Raleigh and Parks Reece of Livingston, Mont. A family memorial service was held Wednesday.

SEAY
Mr. Harry F. Seay, 86, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at the Hospice of Winston-Salem. He was born Sept. 27, 1914, to the late Grover Seay and Viola Vaden Seay. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian and Edna. Mr. Seay lived most of his life in Winston-Salem and was a veteran of World War II having served long and faithfully in New Guinea. He was a career employee of Eckerd Drug Store, where he worked as a purchasing manager. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His faith in Jesus Christ and belief in the resurrection brings peace and comfort to his loved ones. Mr. Seay is survived by his wife, Lottie of Homestead Hills; daughter Vicki Rich and husband Ken of Herndon, Va.; three sons, Ronnie, Dennis and wife Pat of Winston-Salem, and Dean and wife Becky of Pfafftown; a sister, Thelma Patterson of Greensboro; six grandchildren, Sherri Seay, Kevin Seay, Christy Seay, Todd Rich, Amy Rich and Natalie Seay. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Voglers Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at God's Acre.

SCOTT
ADVANCE -- Mrs. Lena Juanita Woodlief Scott, 82, died early Thursday morning, Nov. 23, 2000, at Meadowbrook Terrace of Davie County. She was born June 23, 1918, in Forsyth County to John Henry and Lillie Spencer Woodlief. Surviving are two daughters, Darkes Jean (Jerry) Beeding of Advance and Ethel Marie Rucker of Courtney; two sons, Ralph Gerald Scott of Forbush and John William Scott of Yadkinville; a sister, Margaret Bennett of King; two half-sisters, Mayola Kilpatrick of Walnut Cove and Louise Howard of Georgia; a half-brother, Bobby Woodlief of Thomasville; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel by Chaplain Rennie Adcock. Burial will follow in Yadkin Memorial Gardens in Yadkinville. SMITH
Mr. Ralph Ellsworth Smith, 86, of Winston-Salem died Wednesday evening at the Maryfield Nursing Home in High Point. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Leo's Catholic Church by Father Cecil Tice. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. Mr. Smith was born in Jackson, Tenn., on Nov. 11, 1914, the son of Ralph and Lottie Tilghman Morton. He retired as a sales engineer in 1976 from Chevron Asphalt Co. and was the former owner of Forsyth Memorial Park. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Heffernan Smith. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Carole Smith of Chapel Hill; three sons, Ralph Paul Smith of Chapel Hill, William George Smith of Winston-Salem and James Robert Smith of Richmond, Va.; 13 grandchildren, William George Smith Jr., Alexander Bolling Smith, Margaret Smith Keever, Patricia Burke Smith, Charles Duncan Smith, Munford Yates Smith, Jane Barksdale Smith, Frances Randolph Smith, Laura Radford Smith, Matthew Aubrey Smith, Adam Christopher Smith, Gretchen Noel Smith and Shane Patrick Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Caroline Bennett Smith. CHILTON
PILOT MOUNTAIN -- Mr. Eldon Lee Chilton, 73, of Simmons Rd., Pilot Mountain, N.C., died Sunday, November 21, 1999 at the Forsyth Memorial Hospital, Winston-Salem. Mr. Chilton was born November 29, 1925 in Surry County, N.C. to Roscoe Lee and Lela O. Campbell Chilton. He was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and was a member of Simmon's Grove Baptist Church and a member of the Ararat Masonic Lodge 558 A.F.& A.M. Surviving are his wife, Lottie Tucker Chilton of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda Covington and husband, Larry of Pilot Mountain, N.C.; one son and daughter-in-law, Garry Chilton, Sr. and wife, Deborah of Pilot Mountain; five grandchildren, Laura Covington, Adrienne Isaacs and husband, Byron, Jamie Chilton, Lance Covington and wife, Jennifer, and Garry (Chuck) Chilton, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Meredith Tuttle, Alexanderia Burch, and Tyler Covington; his mother, Lela O. DELLINGER
CHERRYVILLE, N.C. -- Valaree Darby Hudson Dellinger, 81, of 140 Oaktree Lane, formerly of Gastonia, passed away November 18, 1999 at Gaston Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born July 10, 1918 in Gaston County, N.C. to the late Homer and Letha Hall Darby. Mrs. Dellinger was a graduate of Bessemer City High School, member of Olney Presbyterian Church, and was a retired employee with Burlington Industries/MCBess Industries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both her husbands, Jacob T. Hudson and Lee B. Dellinger and her son, William Talmadge Hudson. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Joyce H. Summer of Cherryville, Mrs. Allene H. Robinson of Clemmons, and Mrs. Marcia H. Massey of Myrtle Beach; a brother, Jack Darby of Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Vera Geheler of Salt Lake City, Utah; seven grandchildren, Pamela Johnston, Steve Summer, and Mike Summer all of Cherryville, Tipp Robinson and Susan Allene Robinson both of Clemmons, and Elaine Massey Loyack and Catherine Massey both of Myrtle Beach; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held Saturday, November 20, 1999 at Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter's Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Dr. Daniel Featherstone. EVERHART
LEXINGTON -- Ruby Lee Fultz Everhart, 64, of 218 Easter Circle, Lexington, died at 10:35 a.m., Monday, November 22, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel conducted by Rev. Mark Blair. Burial will be at First Baptist Church of Welcome cemetery. She was born on july 31, 1935 in Davidson County to Charles Lee Fultz and Delia james Fultz. She was formerly employed with North Davidson Middle School Cafeteria with the Davidson County School System and was a member of First Baptist Church of Welcome. Surviving are her husband, Ray Von Everhart of the home; sons, Von Everhart of Winston-Salem and Ken Everhart of Durham; a daughter, Kim Phillips of lexington; and four grandchildren. HELLARD
MOCKSVILLE -- Mrs. Ruth Peacock Hellard, 76, of Turrentine Church Road, died Monday morning at her home after several months of declining health. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Eaton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Billy Sloop and Mr. Johnny Hellard officiating. Burial will be in the Turrentine Baptist Church cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday night from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. They request memorials be considered for the Davie County Hospice, c/o Mrs. Janet Blair, P.O. Box 848, Mocksville, N.C. 27028. Mrs. Hellard was preceded in death by a grandchild, Lori Rogers; also by one sister, Maude Bame; and five brothers, Virgil Peacock, Ivory Peacock, Roy Reacock, Clay Peacock, and Clyde Peacock. Survivors include her husband of fifty-seven years, Ruben Hellard of the home; two daughters, Margie Hellard and Mrs. Patrick (Kathy) Rogers both of Mocksville; two sons, Johnny Hellard and his wife, Lola of Mocksville and Joe Hellard of the home; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Eva Mae Nichols of Cooleemee; and one brother, Vance Peacock of Statesville. The family of Mrs. Hellard wish to publicly express their appreciation to the Hospice of Davie County for the loving care and compassion shown to their mother during her illness, and a very special "Thank You!" to Carol Faust.

Mr. Leonard Hollifield, 75, of Lexington, died Saturday, Nov . 20, 1999. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov . 23, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel with burial in Forest Hill Memorial Park.

JARRET
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (A.K.A., Lib) Jarret, 72, of 3731 Assembly Terrace, Apt. 208, passed on Friday, November 19, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on February 25, 1927. She was a member of Goler Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church. She retired from Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Sterling Askew; one sister, Ms. Virginia Matthews; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one nephew; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends; and the Goler family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at Goler Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, with Rev. S. Lartly officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. (1 hour prior to the funeral services). Interment will be in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. CLARK S. Dorothy (Dot) Parks Lanning, 86, of Lexington, died Sunday, November 21, 1999. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at Fairmont Presbyterian Church where she was a member. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Surviving are her son, Max Lanning and wife, Libby of Lexington and her daughters, Ann Leonard and husband, Larry of Lexington and Brenda Hudson and husband, Bob of Matthews. MAKAS
ELKIN -- Elsie Walls Makas, 75, of Lyles Street, died Monday, November 22, 1999 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She was born in May 29, 1924 in Surry County to the late T. Fletcher and Sena Mickle Walls. She was retired from Gallos Plastics in Winston-Salem and was of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Makas was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Charles Makas, Sr.; her son, Gus Makas, Jr.; and a sister, Dorothy Walls. Surviving are her daughter, Elaine Tullock (Bobby) Nance of Yadkinville; three sisters, Irene (the late Warner) Wilcox and Louise (Sam) Bell both of Elkin, and Mary Lee Talley of Hamptonville; one brother, Fletcher "Sonny" (Mattie Lou) Walls of Elkin; five grandchildren, Doug (Janet) Nance of Hamptonville, Carla, Lisa, Whitney, and Jerry Makas all of Winston-Salem; one brother-in-law, Jack Wall of West Jefferson; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Gentry Family Chapel conducted by Rev. Hewey Parrish with burial in Forsyth Memorial Park. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Little Mtn. Road in Jonesville and other times at the home of her daughter, Elaine Nance, Reavis Road, Yadkinville.

MITCHELL
Mrs. Cheryl Adams Mitchell, 54, of Mocksville, passed away Friday, November 19, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born February 17, 1945 in Cedar City, Utah to Lewis and Eva Marie Adams. Surviving are one daughter, Michelle Corbin-Shaub and husband, David of Arizona; one son, Robert Corbin, Jr. of Asheville; two granddaughters, Salem and Lucy; an aunt, Lou Adams; and a very special cousin, Carol Baynes. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at the Rosebud cemetery in Walnut Cove with Rev. Bill Chatman officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

PARRISH
KERNERSVILLE -- Mr. Jackie Davis Parrish, 66, died November 22, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C. A native of Guilford County, he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Parrish was a retired machinist, a life long member of V.F.W. Oscar L. Joyner, Jr. Post of Kernersville, and Kernersville Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Georgia F. Parrish of the home; three daughters; five grandchildren; a sister; and three brothers. A Memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Pierce Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the Chapel. PRIESTER
ADVANCE -- Rachel Edith Priester, 88, of 3226 Bermuda Village, Advance, N.C., formerly of Baltimore, Md., passed away Friday, Nov . 19, 1999 at Bermuda Village. She was born in Decatur, Ill . on April 21, 1911 to William Franklin Miller and Emma Myrtus Martin Miller. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gayle Boller Priester. She attended Decatur High School, graduating in 1929, and had been a Lincoln scholar since her high school years. After graduation, she worked for the American Medical Association in Chicago until her marriage in 1938. She was a devoted wife, mother, church woman, and community leader. She was a Deacon and an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. She was also an active Circle Member at Second Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, Md. and at Clemmons Presbyterian Church in Clemmons, N.C. She was active in her children's education, serving on their PTA and taking an active role in county wide public education. She was an active member of the League of Women Voters. After running for County Council in Baltimore County, Md., she began her second working career as the Supervisor of the Complaints Division in Baltimore County, where she worked until she retired in 1977. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and John Forster of Raleigh, N.C.; a son, George of Denver; a daughter, Phyllis of Philadelphia; two grandsons and their wives , Scott and Melissa Forster of Rochester Hills, Michigan and Kirk and Marjorie Forster of Raleigh, N.C.; and two great-grandsons, Duncan Alexander and Dalton Christopher Forster of Raleigh, whom she adored. A memorial Service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Clemmons Presbyterian Church, Clemmons, N.C. A reception will follow. The family will receive friends at Bermuda Village on Friday from 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Priester Memorial Fund at Clemmons Presbyterian Church, P.O. SHIELDS
Mrs. Geneva Mitchem Shields, formerly of Sentry Care in Kernersville and 100 S. Spring St. in Winston-Salem, passed away on November 22, 1999 at Meadowbrook Manor. She was born on December 8, 1930 in Capels, W.Va. to Floyd and Judy Mullins Mitchem. Mrs. Shields is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Effie Hunt of Hemphill, W.Va. and Mrs. Gladys Bullis of Johnson City, Tenn. and one brother, Dorsa Mitchem of Davie, W.Va.; She is also survived by two special nieces, Mrs. Estuline Kiser and Mrs. Jean Hanes both of Winston-Salem and other extended family. Mrs. Shields was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and attended as long as health permitted. Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Rev. Dan Hawtree will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, N.C.

DANBURY -- Mrs. Evie Brown Smith Sisk, 91, of Route #1, Danbury, died Sunday, November 21, 1999 at Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Sisk was born July 18, 1908 to the late Andy J. and Doskey Cromer Brown. She was a homemaker and was a member of Isom Baptist Church. Mrs. Sisk was preceded in death by her husbands, Terry Brown, Odell Smith, and Edgar Sisk; and a son, Haywood Brown. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, William and Estelle Brown of Walnut Cove; daughter-in-law, Bertha Lee Brown of Walnut Cove; three grandchildren, Allan (Elizabeth Ann) Brown of King, Dawn (Ernie) Brown of Germanton, and Teresa (Gary) Vanlaningham of Trinity; five great-grandchildren, Samuel Brown, Sarah Brown, Cale Brown, Lori Brown, and Carly Vanlandingham; step-daughters, Joanne McKinny of Mayodan, Eunice Rogers of Germanton, Peggy Thompson of King, and Susie Mabe of Walnut Cove; and one step-son, Dan Smith of Danbury. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chester Montgomery officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Falls Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. JACKSON, MISS. -- Mr. William B. Thomas, Jr., 74, of Meadow Lane, died Sunday, November 7, 1999 at G.V. Sonny Montgomery Veterans Hospital in Jackson, Miss. He was a retired Insurance Salesman, a member of Daniel Memorial Baptist Church, Sykes Park Bridge Club, and a Navy veteran of World War II. Funeral services were held at Lakewood South Funeral Home, Jackson, Miss. with burial in Lakewood South cemetery. THOMERSON
A memorial service for Michael Travis Thomerson will be held at 2 p.m. in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Friday, November 26, 1999 at the home of his maternal grandmother, Elsie D. Elliott, 5581 Pine Brook Lane, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Michael died on Friday, November 12, 1999 in Florence, South Carolina at the age of 24. The service will be conducted by his mother, Betty Thomerson's uncle, the Rev. Fred Duckett of Asheville, N.C., a retired Baptist minister and her brother-in-law, Circuit Court Judge Warren Burk of Rockledge, Florida. Music will be provided by Mrs. Thomerson's cousin, Joyce Duckett Gibson. Michael's surviving family consists of his mother, Betty Jean Elliott Thomerson and his grandmother, Elsie Duckett Elliott both of Winston-Salem; his sister, Krista T. Chassereau, her husband, Hal and their daughter, Macy Chassereau of Kernersville, N.C.; brother, Kevin Lee Thomerson and his wife, Tricia of Winston-Salem; a maternal aunt, Kay Elliott Burk and her husband, Warren Burk of Rockledge, Florida; a cousin, Lisa T. Burke and her husband, Robert and their daughters, Laura and Lesley Burke all of Huber Heights, Ohio and; and an uncle, W. Bruce Tharpe of Venice, Fla. Michael is also survived by his father, Homer Dean Thomerson, Jr. and his wife, Doris P. Thomerson and a step-sister, Jennifer all of Florence, South Carolina; and his fraternal grandmother, Mary W. Thomerson of Knoxville, Tennessee. Michael was preceded in death by his maternal and fraternal grandfathers, James B. Elliott of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Homer Dean Thomerson, Sr. of Knoxville, Tennessee. Michael's mother, Betty Elliott Thomerson, his grandmother, Elise D. Elliott, and his aunt, Kay Elliott Burk hereby request memorials for Michael Thomerson be made to the Family Violence Shelter, an affiliate agency of the United Way of Florence, 1621 West Palmetto Street, Florence, S.C. 29501. The funeral arrangements were handled by Cain Funeral Home, 521 2nd Loop Road, Florence, S.C. 29505-2817. (843-665-7177) Burial took place at Florence Memorial Gardens, Florence, S.C.

THOMPSON
LEWISVILLE -- Mr. Jared Braxton Thompson, 17, of 1071 Cresthaven Road, Lewisville died Sunday, November 21, 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Jared was born in Forsyth County on May 21, 1982. He was a Senior at West Forsyth High School and was a member of Family Tabernacle. Surviving are his parents, Ernest V. and Tracy Tschopp Thompson, and a sister, Amanda Thompson, all of the home; a special brother in the Lord, Brian Greenwood; maternal grandparents, William E. and Carolyn Tschopp of Clemmons; and paternal grandmothers, Joanne Combs and Thelma Thompson. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m Tuesday at Clemmons United Methodist Church by Rev. David Baxter and Pastor Matt Anzivino. Entombment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation of Central and Western N.C., 200 Centre Port Drive, Suite 300, Greensboro, N.C. 27409. Vogler and Sons Clemmons Chapel is serving the Thompson family.
