Evelyn C. Hissom
ROSEBUD CREEK - Evelyn C. Hissom, 63 of Rosebud Creek, died Friday April 30, 1999, at the Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth following a lengthy illness.
Evelyn was born Aug. 4, 1935, in Donora, Pa., the daughter of Frank and Bessie White Settino. She spent her youth and attended schools in Donora, graduating from Donora High School in 1953.
On May 17, 1957, Evelyn married Kenneth Hissom in Winchester, Va. They moved to Great Falls in 1961 where they raised their four children. Evelyn and Ken moved to the Colstrip area in the 1970's, and have lived there since.
Evelyn enjoyed the peace and quiet of her country home on Rosebud Creek. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her face would just light up at the sight of her family.
She is survived by her husband Ken of Rosebud Creek; her son, R. Kenneth Hissom and his wife Kris of Worden; two daughters: Patty J. and her husband Douglas D. Hearn of Great Falls and Roxanne Harley of Idebell, Okla.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Bessie Settino as well as her son Jack L. Martin.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at the Beals Mortuary Chapel in Forsyth. Interment will follow in the Forsyth cemetery. Beals Mortuary of Forsyth is in charge of the arrangements.

Donald F. Hughes
MILES CITY - Donald F. Hughes, 76, died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at the Holy Rosary Health Care Facility in Miles City.
At Donald's request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jennifer Nicole Little
SHELL, Wyo. - Jennifer Nicole Little, age 17, passed away on Saturday, May 1, 1999 in a one-car motor vehicle accident east of Greybull.
Jennifer Nicole Little was born in Pampa, Texas on Dec. 11, 1981, the daughter of Joe Edd and Linda Marie Ramfjord Little.
Jennifer was a junior at the Greybull High School in Greybull at the time of her death.
Jennifer was a very bright and a very giving young lady and was always on the Greybull High School honor roll. She participated in the Greybull High School speech team and played the clarinet in band. She started swimming in the Dolphin Swim Team in the elementary school and continued swimming in high school. She enjoyed participating in the Greybull Fine Arts League productions at the Greybull High School. Jennifer was a Greybull Middle School office aide for two years. Jennifer loved her family and friends very much and will be missed by her family and friends very much.
Jennifer was a member of the Greybull High School Honor Society.
Survivors are her father, Joe Little of Shell; her sister, Amy Little of Greybull; maternal grandparents, Bob and Alma Ramfjord of Duluth, Minn.; paternal grandmother, Nadyne Williams of Shamrock, Texas; two aunts: Terry Ramfjord and Robin Soderlund, both of Duluth, Minn.; and two uncles: Ken Little of San Antonio. Texas, and Mark Little of San Francisco, Calif.
She is preceded in death by her mother in 1982.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 4, at the Shell Community Hall in Shell at 10 a.m. Reverend Michael McMillan will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Whaley cemetery in Shell.
Visitations will be held on Monday, May 3, at the Atwood Family Chapel in Greybull from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a half hour prior to the funeral service.
A Memorial Fund has been set up at Big Horn Federal Savings and Loan in Greybull with proceeds to go to the Greybull Fine Arts League.

Alexander Robertus
LAUREL - Alexander Robertus, 77, of Laurel passed away Friday, April 30, 1999, of natural causes at St. Vincent Hospital. His death came after a recent bout with heart conditions.
Alex was born in a rural area near Wellington, Colo., Nov. 3, 1921, to Henry and Maria Robertus. His family moved to the Laurel area in 1925, where the family resided south of town.
He enlisted in the United States Navy in December of 1942. He served aboard the USS Antietam as a torpedo attack pilot. He was discharged as a Lieutenant J. G. in January of 1946.
He married Margaret Bateman on Feb. 5, 1946, in Norfolk, Va. He brought his bride to Laurel, where they resided until their passing after 52 years of marriage.
He operated Robertus Electric, an electrical contracting company, in the Laurel area from 1950 to 1990.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, hunting and singing in the church choir. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, a past commander and member of the American Legion Post 123, and participated in many Herbstfest pageants.
Margaret preceded him in death in 1998. He is survived by two sons: Ronald (Ellen) of Anchorage, Ala., and Daniel (Barbara) of Roundup; his brothers and sisters: John of Laurel, Henry (Hanna) of Laurel, Albert (Jean) of Park City, Lila Gordon of Billings, Ester (Clem) Lambrecht of Billings, and Raymond (Gloria) of Laurel; his grandchildren: Phillip of Burr, Neb., Jennifer (Ray) Rodriguez of Mannheim, Germany, and Jaron of Kenosha, Wis.; and his great-granddaughters: Adrianna and Carissa Rodriguez of Mannheim.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 4th, at the Laurel United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Laurel cemetery. Memorials are suggested, in lieu of flowers, to Big Sky Hospice or the Laurel United Methodist Church. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel was in charge of services.

Hazel M. Scott
PARK CITY - Hazel M. Scott, 92, of Park City, passed away Sunday, May 2, 1999, at Laurel.
She was a daughter of John and Lucinda Morton, born Nov. 16, 1906, at Billings. She received her education in Billings and Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School.
Hazel married Fred Scott, July 26, 1928, at Red Lodge.
In 1937 the couple purchased the service station in Park City and named it Scotty's Service and they retired in 1972. The couple then traveled to many places including a trip to Florida and two trips to Alaska.
Hazel was a member of Zidonian Chapter of O.E. S.
Mr. Scott preceded her in death in 1979. Other family members preceding her in death were two brothers, Louie and Jerry Morton; a sister, Helen Morton and a grandson, Tracy Southworth.
Survivors include a daughter, Catherine (Richard) Southworth of Park City; grandchildren: Nicki (Rick) Larson of Billings, Dave Southworth of Park City, and Kelly Bernhardt of Laurel. There are 10 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren, plus a nephew, Ron (Linda) Hoffman of Wash.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 7th at Mountainview cemetery, Columbus.
Memorials are suggested to Bee Hive Homes of Laurel or Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch.

Leonard Slagsvold
(correction from May 2)
MILES CITY - Leonard Slagsvold, age 78, of Miles City, formerly of Lindsay, passed away on Friday, April 30, 1999, at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.
Leonard was born on Jan. 19, 1921, in Glendive, the son of Lars and Anne (Lovaas) Slagsvold. He graduated from Custer County High School in 1940. In March of 1945 Leonard and Mary McGovern were married . They made their home seven miles north of Lindsay, raising Registered Herefords until 1978, when they moved to Glendive. Leonard was always very active in local politics and served on many different boards. He was a member of the A.A., the Elks, and the Lutheran Church. He loved attending rodeos, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, dancing, music, horses and his beloved Herefords.
He is survived by one brother, A. K. Slagsvold of Glendive; four children: Linda and her husband, Don Lange, of Huntley; Stuart Slagsvold and his wife, Diane, of Billings; Kenny Lars Slagsvold, of Lindsay; and Shellie and her husband, Bob Ehrmantraut, of Scarborough, ME; his grandchildren: DeEtte Thoen, of Morrison, Colo., Trever Lange, of Port Hueneme, Calif., Casey Lange, Leigh Slagsvold, and Evan Slagsvold, all of Billings, and Kevin Ehrmantraut, of Scarborough, ME; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Dawson County cemetery in Glendive. Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of arrangements.

Seth A. "Sandy" Sonesen
WORLAND, Wyo. - Seth A. "Sandy" Sonesen, 52, died Friday, April 30, 1999, at the Washakie Memorial Hospital in Worland.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at the Riverview Memorial Gardens cemetery in Worland. Veile Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Spalding
LIVINGSTON - Margaret Spalding, 72, died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at Livingston Memorial Hospital.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be held later. Cremation or Funeral Gallery in charge of arrangements.

Vera E. Shumway
STANLEY, N.D. - Vera E. Shumway, 79, passed away Sunday, May 2, 1999, at Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley.
Visitations will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, in Clayton Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, in Clayton Memorial Chapel with interment in the Greenwood cemetery, Wolf Point.

Edith Stegmire
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Edith Stegmire, 94, passed away Sunday, May 2, 1999, in Westview Health Care Center in Sheridan.
Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, in Champion Funeral Home in Sheridan. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, in Champion Funeral Home with interment to follow in Sheridan Municipal cemetery.

Antoinette Marie Vroman
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Antoinette Marie Vroman, 73, passed away Monday, May 3, 1999 at Sheridan Manor.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 7, in the Northside Church of Christ in Sheridan.

Norman John Wagner
LEWISTOWN - Norman John Wagner, 86, of Lewistown, passed away Saturday, May 1, 1999, in St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, of natural causes.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, in the First Presbyterian Church in Lewistown. Cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home of Lewistown is in charge of arrangements.

Melvene E. White Bear
BROCKTON - Melvene E. White Bear, 54, of Brockton, died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at Med Center One in Bismarck, N.D.
A wake will be held on Friday, May 7, at the Brockton Cultural Center. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Brockton Cultural Center. Interment will be in the Fort Kipp cemetery in Fort Kipp.

Donna Spotted Bear-Hein
Nora Mae Spotted Bear, aka: Donna Hein; aka: Iron Woman "Oowutbeush" or Ram Woman, 66 years old, departed from this world on Tuesday, May 4, 1999, in the Deaconess Hospital in Billings.
Donna Spotted Bear-Hein was born to Emma "Pretty Eagle Woman" (Coffey) Smells and Theodore "High Bull" Spotted Bear on March 15, 1933, at Elbowoods, N.D.
Donna lived her childhood years in Elbowoods, N.D., and moved to the Pryor and Billings area, where she resided the rest of her life.
Donna belonged to the Three Clans (Knife, Low Hat and Chicken) of the Three Affiliated Tribes of Fort Berthold, N.D., and in addition, was a member of the Greasy Mouth Clan and a child of the Big Lodge of the Crow Tribe. Donna attended grade school at Elbowoods, N.D., and attended high school at the Busby Boarding School.
Donna was first married to Harvey Big Lake, who died in 1961, and some time later married Jerome "Jerry" Hein.
Donna liked handgames, bingo, horseracing, beading and loved to tease and joke, which reflected her keen sense of humor; as well as being an excellent homemaker and could always be counted upon to listen and give advise.
Donna was baptized at the Sacred Heart Church located in Elbowoods, N.D. Donna was a member of St. Charles Mission Catholic Church in Pryor, Mont.
Donna was a strong believer in the Native American ideal of religious belief, and was a respected role model in the Shoshone/Crow Sun Dance for 40+ years - since the mid-1950's. Donna participated in the Native American Church (Peyote) and being recognized as a respected elder, was called upon numerous times to bless her clan children; to name children, and to give prayer at various functions. Donna received her "Right-To-Dance" - Grass Dance from her uncle, Sam Lincoln. She had a most unique and beautiful dance that many admired and honored her for. Donna participated in and won many dance contests.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, adopted brother Tom Big Lake and Larry Turner.
Survivors include sons and daughter Harvey "Ace" (Shelly) Big Lake Jr.; Patrick Jarvis (Christine) Big Lake; Flarin Hollis Big Lake; Velvet Dee (Jesse Bonilla) Hein; Jerome Dean Hein Jr.; Grandchildren Dawn, Pat Jr., Felix, Plyza, Kristen, Jarvis, Tivonna and Sesar; Great-Grandchildren Ashley and Randall Jr.; Brothers Max (Dorothy) Spotted Dear Sr.; Melton "Jerry" (Flo) Spotted Bear; Bruce (Myrna) Spotted Rear Sr.; Sylvester (Ursula) Spotted Bear; Sisters Rosemary "Toots" Round Face; Julia "Sis" Round Face; Jeanette Richardson; Sharon Morrison, and Patrice Smells Not Afraid; relatives of North Dakota include the families of Coffey, Spotted Bear, Good Bear, Foote, Rogers, Bearstail, Rush, Whitman, Lincoln, Yellow Wolf, Wounded Face, Four Dance, Old Mouse, Sears, Baker, Irwin, the Means family of South Dakota, and the Philamene Crooked Arm family of Crow Agency.
Donna is also survived by adopted brothers and sisters Regina Goes Ahead, Carl Goes Ahead, Maude Williamson, Natalie Little Owl, Cardy Goes Ahead, Merle Plain Feather, Larry Bright Wings, and Helen Franzen. Adopted children include son Thomas "Eddie" Round Face, Ira White Plume, and Keith Augare. Also numerous nephews and nieces and extended family members.
Rosary and Wake services: Friday evening, May 7, 1999, at 7 p.m., St. Charles Catholic Mission Church, Pryor, Mont.
Funeral: Saturday, May 8, 1999, at 10 a.m., at St. Charles Catholic Mission. Cremation follows at Smith Funeral Home, Billings, Mont.
