John S. Ireland
LEWISTOWN - John S. Ireland, 73, of Lewistown, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, in New Orleans, La.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at the First Baptist Church with interment in the Lewistown City cemetery. Creel Funeral Home is in charge.
Robert Duane Loveland
POWELL, Wyo. - Memorial services were conducted Wednesday morning at Hope Lutheran Church for Robert Duane Loveland, 76, who died at his Powell home early Monday, Nov. 16. He was born April 17, 1922, in Greybull, one of two sons of John W. and Mabel (Taylor) Loveland. He was graduated from Burlington High School in 1940.
He attended Casper College and helped out on the family farm for a time. He married
Ella M. Hodson on April 28, 1943, and they were blessed with three daughters, Billie Arlene, Judith Marcelle and Bobette.
Mr. Loveland joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific Theater of World War II. He saw duty at Saipan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
After the war, the couple moved to Powell in 1947. He worked in the automotive service industry the rest of his life, working at various locations in Powell, including owning his own business. He was employed at Justin Ford & Chrysler until the time of his illness in August of 1998.
Mr. Loveland will be remembered for his love of people. He was the first to help at any time - family or friend.
He served on the Powell City Council for four years and was president of the board at the Powell Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Elks, Eagles, and Big Horn Basin Boat Club.
Survivors include his wife, Ella of Powell; his daughters and their husbands, Billie and Dale Kasinger of Powell, Bobette and Ray Smith of Powell and Judi and Carl Spomer of Thermopolis; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jack; and son-in-law, Duard Thronburg.
John 'Johnny' Morris
BIDDLE - John "Johnny" Morris, 60, of Biddle, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at the University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, Calif., as a result of an airplane accident.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the Belle Creek Community Center with interment in the Ranch Creek cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Broadus is in charge.
Wilma A. Newcomer
WORLAND, Wyo. - Wilma A. Newcomer, 82, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at Community Care of America.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with interment in the Riverview Memorial Gardens cemetery. Bryant Funeral Home is in charge.
Roger Lee Nuttbrock
LIVINGSTON - Roger Lee Nuttbrock, 37, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at Livingston Memorial Hospital of injuries sustained in a pedestrian/automobile accident.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, in the chapel of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home. Additional memorial services and interment of the cremated remains will be held at a later date in Brainerd, Minn.
Lucy Wallace Real Bird
HARDIN - Lucy Wallace Real Bird, 81, a traditional Crow Indian Woman, a member of the Big Lodge Clan and a daughter of the Ties the Bundle Clan, died Thursday evening, Nov. 19, 1998, in the Big Horn County Memorial Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 10, 1917, near Lodge Grass to Otter Stay in Water, a descendant of the great war chief Plays with His Face and Richard Wallace, a Crow tribal leader of the early 1900s. As a young girl, she accompanied her father and other Crow tribal members to Washington, D.C. Her Indian name was Bishee'chiilaapiash, Cow Necklace, a name given to her by Bird Horse, one of the first Crow Indian Warrior Cowboys.
Lucy married
James Real Bird on Oct. 29, 1937, in Hardin and the couple made their home near Garryowen. Mr. Real Bird died in 1961 leaving Lucy with seven children. She often advocated that an education was a way of helping yourself. School District 17-H honored her for graduating all seven of her children from Hardin High School.
She enjoyed beading and taught bead work for School District 17-H in the early 1970s. Her beading talents were reflected in the beaded vestments for the priests of St. Dennis Parish. She believed in the Crow Indian religious practices of the Sweat Lodge, Tobacco Society, Sacred Pipe Society and was a member of the Frank Buthune Chapter of the Native American Church.
Lucy enjoyed cooking traditional Crow meals and passed that practice to her daughters and granddaughters. She liked watching rough stock events at rodeos, often opening her doors to traveling cowboys. "Good horses, she loved to have her sons and daughters give away." Her handgames skills were famous, holding the record for the most points for a number of years. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren, they were always first in her life.
She was preceded in death by a son, Coey; and siblings, Kathleen Iron, Susie Spotted, Annie Old Crow and Ernest Gets Down.
Survivors include two daughters, Berdina Real Bird of Hardin and Manuella Real Bird of Garryowen; four sons, Richard, Henry, Kennard and Jim of Garryowen; a brother, Vincent Keith Black Hawk of Wyola; a sister, Laura Singer of Lodge Grass; she raised Jolene White Clay, Laureen Spint, Lark Paz and Martina Real Bird as her daughters; 11 adopted sons, Winston Bruce, Dennis Rieners, Larry Jordan, Bob Nortome, Bill Pauly, John Larick, John Calliflower, Clement Fox, Loren Fredricks, Cody Bear Paw and Gary Carter; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be recited 4 p.m. Sunday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday in the Crow Agency St. Dennis Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the Custer Battlefield National cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

TEN SLEEP, Wyo. - Doris M. Rice, 90, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at the Ten Sleep LDS Church with interment in the Ten Sleep cemetery. The casket will be open from noon-2 p.m. at the church. Veile Mortuary of Worland is in charge.

BAINVILLE - Dorothy R. Sanders, 86, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Sidney Health Center.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Everson-Clayton Memorial Chapel was in charge.
Walter 'Smitty' Smith
LIVINGSTON - Walter Glenn "Smitty" Smith, 75, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, at his home in Paradise Valley.

Margaret Ann Togstad
On Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, Margaret Togstad died at St. Vincent's Hospital at the age of 76. The daughter of Alvin and Sarah (Oliver) Wallace, Margaret was born Nov. 30, 1921, in Minot, N.D. They moved to Burlington, N.D., where Margaret graduated from high school.
Margaret was united in marriage to James L. Murfitt in October 1939. James died in 1954. In 1955, Margaret married
Selmer Togstad in Minot and they moved to Billings.
Cooking and being Grandma were the joys of her life.
Survivors include her husband, Selmer of Billings; sons, Robert J. and Marcella of Billings, Cyrus E. and Beverly of Bearcreek; daughter, Mary Jane and Rudolph Kittler of Brighton, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her mother; first husband, James; son, Dennis M.; and a sister, May Hughes. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at Dahl Funeral Chapels with interment in Mountview cemetery Mausoleum.
