Amelia Heidema
Amelia Heidema passed away on Nov. 23, 1998. She was born on April 16, 1929, in Shepherd to Catherine and Andrew Manweiler and attended school in Shepherd.
She was married
to Jim Simonis in 1946 and widowed after one month. She then went to work for the Rex Laundry in Billings.
She married
Jacob (Jack) Heidema on April 1, 1951. Together they operated the 8th Ave. Market and a produce stand on Main Street. Amelia also worked at Aunt Jo's Cafe for many years. Many knew her as the "Dragon Lady" at Black Dragon Fireworks and "Sam" at Sam's Place at the Fairgrounds for over 40 years.
Recently she was a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul in the Heights.
She was an active and valued member of the New Apostolic Church.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, and one sister, Mary Neff.
She is survived by a son, Doug (Cathy) Heidema and a daughter, Donna "Redd" (Rich) Szillat; four sisters, Molly Bechtold of Billings, Freda Gilmore of Powell, Wyo., Pauline Sikora of Billings, and Lillian Scheafer of Billings, and four brothers, Henry Manweiler of Powell, Alex Manweiler of Joliet, Carl Manweiler of Laurel and William (Bill) Manweiler of Joliet; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at the New Apostolic Church on 15th St. West. Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening. Thanksgiving day visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Smith Downtown Chapel. Memorials may be made to the New Apostolic Church, c/o David Munson, 3555 Racquet Dr., Billings, MT 59102.
Roy Olson
Roy Olson was born Sept. 4, 1910, to John and Amy Olson, Swedish immigrants, on their homestead southwest of Cushman. He passed away Oct. 13, 1998, in Billings at age 88.
Roy attended grade school at Cushman and graduated from Lavina High School at age 16. He received a lifetime teaching certificate from Eastern Montana Normal School and taught in rural schools in Eastern and Central Montana for 11 years. He also attended the University in Missoula where he studied forestry. He worked one summer with Cadastral Survey in Western Montana.
On June 10, 1935, Roy was united in marriage with Anita Buell of Big Timber. They met at a country dance while Roy was teaching at Cherry Creek school. They were married
at Harlowton.
Roy and Anita lived briefly at Big Timber, Fallon, Rothiemay, Judith Gap and Reed Point before moving to Cushman where they ranched and farmed for 50 years. They retired to Lavina in 1988.
Roy was an active member of the Lutheran Church, Cushman Community Club and Lavina Senior Citizens. He served on their board and was Senior Citizen of the year in 1992. He also served on the Golden Valley County Weed Board and the cemetery Board.
Those preceding Roy in death were a son, Robert, and Roy's sisters, Ellen Larson and Dorothy Wolff.
Those left to mourn his passing include his wife, Anita, of 63 years; three sons: Dan of Lavina, David of Sacramento, Calif., Richard (Kappy) of Bethel, Alaska; and daughter, Jean (Howard) Zankner of Billings; one grandson, two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren; also numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives in the states and Sweden.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at the Lavina Methodist-Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at the Lavina cemetery.
Elma Mae (Nimbar) Nelson
Elma Mae (Nimbar) Nelson, 95 of Billings, passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 13, 1998, at the Edgewood Vista.
She was born April 9, 1903, in Madison, S.D., the daughter of Luman and Nancy (Gregor) Nimbar. She was raised in Madison and Miles City. She was educated through the 8th Grade and then attended business college.
On March 8, 1920, she married
Peter R. Nelson Sr. She helped her husband "Papa Pete" Nelson Sr. and her son, Pete Nelson Jr. run "The Old Heidelburg Inn" on Broadway for many years.
Elma's hobbies were bowling (on many championship bowling teams), bridge and crossword puzzles. She was a very beautiful lady from the inside out. She loved unselfishly and was greatly loved in return by her family and all who knew her. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and taught us all about living a good life. Her sense of humor was always with her and she always said "Laugh and the World Laughs with You, Cry and you Cry alone." Elma is with Papa Pete and the Lord now and happy for eternity. We love you and will see you again.
Survivors include her son, Pete R. Nelson Jr. and daughter, Diane P. Thormahlen, both of Billings; granddaughter, Cheryl Chadwick of Sherwood, Ore., and grandson, Ty Thormahlen of Mesa, Ariz.; her sister, Montana Saldin of Seattle, Wash.
Elma was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and her husband.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Smith Downtown Chapel. Interment of cremains will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials to the charity of one's choice.
Linda Sue (Lawrence) Domme
KALISPELL - Linda Domme, 50, died peacefully in her home Tuesday, Oct. 13, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Her body has been cremated and memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, 2 p.m. in the O'Connor Memorial Chapel, 2425 Eighth Ave. N., Great Falls. Pastor Jack Severns will be officiating.
Linda Sue (Lawrence) was born on Aug. 11, 1948, to Arthur D. and Lois F. (Jennings) Lawrence in Glasgow.
Linda graduated from high school in Opheim in 1966, then attended Northern Montana College and received her Cosmetology degree. On Feb. 6, 1971, she married
George L. Domme in Opheim. Most of her life was spent in Great Falls where she worked as a hairdresser for 12 years at the O'Hara Manor and seven years as the head housekeeper at the Budget Inn. She was a very devoted wife and mother. The family moved to Kalispell in June of 1992, where she currently resided. Linda worked at Sylvesters, Drug Fair, and Ernst in Kalispell. She had a true love of music throughout her life. She enjoyed playing the piano, organ, and guitar.
Survivors include her husband, George of Kalispell; her son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Heidi Domme of O-Ahu, Hawaii; daughter, Raena Domme and her fiancÈ, Josh Cleveland of Great Falls; parents, Art and Lois Lawrence of Glasgow; brothers, Rick and Earline Lawrence of Jordan, Ron and Jeri Lawrence of Seymour, Texas, Brent Lawrence of Perryton, Texas; sister, Bonnie and Dick Williams of Cody, Wyo.; grandmother, Adeline Lawrence of Glasgow; mother-in-law, Mayme Domme of Butte; brothers-in-law, Tom and Jeri Domme of Helena, John and Vonnie Domme, Pat Domme and Mike Dome, all of Butte; as well as many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Delsa B. Robertson
WORLAND, Wyo. - Delsa B. Robertson, 83, died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at Community Care of America.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with interment in the Lovell cemetery. Bryant Funeral Home is in charge.
Delmer Jack Moore
BELFRY - Delmer Jack Moore, 84, of Belfry, passed away at his home near Belfry Monday evening, Nov. 9, 1998.
He was born at Eugene, Ore., Sept. 1, 1914, a son of Edwin and Theresa Spengler Moore.
Survivors include three daughters: Gwen Vogt of Sheridan, Wyo., Lisa Moore of Seattle, Carol Moore of Billings; four sons: Michael Moore of California, Thomas Moore of Billings, Jacque Moore of Billings, Robert Moore of Belfry; one sister, Gwendolyn Williams of Klamath Falls, Ore.; and eight grandchildren.
Private services will be held.
Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel was in charge of services.
Edward E. Haar
BAKER - Edward E. Haar, 73, died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at the Holy Rosary Health Care Center.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Stevenson's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at the First Baptist Church with interment in the Community Union cemetery, both in Plevna.
Charles 'Chuck' Hitch
Charles "Chuck" Hitch passed away on Nov. 9, 1998, after a three-month battle with cancer.
He was born in Lewistown on Aug. 1, 1919, to DN and Rhoda Adriance Hitch. Raised in central Montana, he graduated from Fergus County High. He attended Montana State College in Bozeman and graduated after the start of WWII.
He signed up with Naval Flight Training and before graduation he was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the Marine Corps. He finished that war as a captain. He stayed with the reserve long enough to become a Major.
Chuck worked with the Soil Conservation Service in Big Sandy, Conrad, Lewistown, Hamilton and Ekalaka. Following that, he worked for the Dept. of Natural Resources and the Old West Regional Commission as a range management specialist out of Billings. While in Lewistown, he met and married
Dorothy Kohl.
Raised in agriculture, educated in agriculture, he kept a sharp interest in the field all his life, but it got cut back to a "back-yard garden" in the last few years.
He is survived by two brothers, Quinlan of Hobson and Dr. James of Sequim, Wash.; two sisters, Margaret "Peggy" Haight of Spearfish, S.D., and Barbara Anderson of Cooper Landing, Alaska; four children, James Kohl and Kathy Strade of Portland, Ore., and John Kohl and Julie Vigil of Denver, Colo.
Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. Interment with military honors will be at Mountview cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Montana Rescue Mission or First Presbyterian Church.

Pamela Not Afraid Stewart
CROW AGENCY - Pamela Not Afraid Stewart, 34, of Crow Agency, died Nov. 8, 1998, in the Billings St. Vincent Hospital.
She was born Feb. 7, 1964, in Sioux Falls, S.D., a daughter of John Little Nest Sr. and Elizabeth Not Afraid. She was raised by her grandparents, Cyril and Flora Not Afraid. She grew up in the Lodge Grass area and received her early education in Lodge Grass and graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1982. She attended Sheridan College and graduated from the College of Coiffure Arts in Billings in 1989.
Pamela married
Robert L. Stewart, Nov. 16, 1985, in Crow Agency and the couple made their home in Billings until recently moving to Crow Agency.
She had many talents besides being a great mother and wife. In her youth, she was an accomplished Fancy Dancer. She enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, hair styling and bead work.
Pamela loved to have people around her and her home was always open to friends and family. She was an avid Bible student and loved to sing Gospel Songs and Traditional Crow songs. While living in Billings, she was employed by Mountain Bell as a Switchboard Operator and later worked for Cost Cutters, as a hair stylist and beautician for several years.
She was a member of the Harvest Time Pentecostal Church, Big Lodge Clan, a child of the Big Lodge and the Greasy Mouth Clan.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Little Nest Sr.; brothers, Marlin J. White, Buster Yellowmule; and her special uncle, Starr Not Afraid Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Robert of Crow Agency; her father in law, Donald Stewart Sr. of Crow Agency; four sons, Jorell and Marlin Stewart of Crow Agency, T.J. and C.R. Lawrence C. Sladick
BOZEMAN - Lawrence C. Sladick, 80, died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, at the Gallatin Rest Home.
Cremation has been held. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Cremation or Funeral Gallery, Cremation Society of Montana was in charge of arrangements.
Frank E. Rice
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Frank E. Rice, formerly of Joliet, Mont., passed away at the family home in Anchorage, on Nov. 2. Born Sept. 4, 1924, Frank grew up in Joliet and graduated from high school there. Frank and his wife, Dorothy, would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on Dec. 7. He is also survived by a daughter, Donna (Steve) Coniaris, a sister, Frances (Elwin) Aaby and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Gerald L. 'Jerry' Foos
PARK CITY - Surrounded by his family, Gerald L. "Jerry" Foos passed away Saturday morning following an extended illness. Jerry was born the first son of Alex and Hilda Foos on July 1, 1935.
Jerry was raised on the Whitehorse Bench south of Laurel and in the Fromberg area. He graduated from Fromberg High School in 1953. In 1957, he married
Anita Parker. He farmed in the Rockvale and Park City areas and served as deputy sheriff, and later undersheriff, in Stillwater County until 1978. In 1980 Jerry married
Donna Thompson and they farmed west of Park City until retiring in 1996.
He is survived by his wife Donna Foos, son Monte Foos and granddaughter, Lisa, of Bridger, daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Joe Eckhardt of Sidney, brother Kenny and wife Marilee of Bridger, sister Sandra and husband, Jeff Dietz, of Billings, brother Albert and wife Charlotte of Fromberg and sister Malvena and husband Jim Nott of Bridger and a large extended family which includes many nieces and nephews and close friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and infant twin daughters Patricia Ann and Penny Sue.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 1998, at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel.
