Lucille M. Marquardt
LIBBY - Lucille M. Marquardt, 91, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at the Libby hospital.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Tanner of Sunnyvale, Calif., Rose Goyen and Helen Barnett, both of Libby; two sons, Lewis Marquardt of Austin, Texas, and James Marquardt of Bothell, Wash.; a brother, Joseph Grimes of Jamestown, N.D.; sisters Marie Ukestad of Valley City, N.D., and Ellen Rickl of Lewistown; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be at the City of Libby cemetery under the direction of Nelson and Vial Funeral Home.
James R. Woolard
PHILIPSBURG - James R. Woolard, 54, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001.
He was born Oct. 18, 1946, in Eldorado, Ill., the son of Lloyd and Hazel (Whyte) Woolard.
James enlisted in the military at a young age and for the love of his country served in the U.S. Air Force for over seven years as an aircraft mechanic; he was a decorated veteran. He also worked for the Ford Motor Co. for 13 years as a diagnostician who could pinpoint mechanical problems immediately. James loved to travel the United States, and although he had visited every state but Maine and Hawaii, his heart was devoted to his love for Montana.
He will be remembered as an exceptionally devoted father and husband and for his honesty and fair dealings as a mechanic. He was an enthusiastic NASCAR Winston Cup Race fanatic.
James was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, as well as his wife Valerie (Heuring) Woolard.
James great love and warmth will be forever cherished and sorely missed by his wife of four years Carol Woolard of Philipsburg; his daughters, Nicole Woolard of Helena, and Natalie and Codi Faye Woolard, both of Philipsburg; and his son, Austin Woolard of Philipsburg. He is also survived by his sisters, Juanita Luna of Joliet, Ill., and Phyllis Szymanski of Plainfield, Ill.; his brothers, David Woolard of Joliet, Ill., and Harold Woolard of Florida.
Visitation for James will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the KT Riddle Funeral Chapel of Philipsburg. The funeral service will be 9 a.m. Monday at the Riddle Philipsburg Chapel; graveside services with military honors will follow at the Philipsburg cemetery.
A trust fund is being set up for James' children at Glacier National Bank of Anaconda.
Susan I. Noel
MISSOULA - Susan I. Noel, 53, of Missoula, passed away at her home on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, with her family at her side.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church. A memorial service in Laurel will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Smith Funeral Home.
Local arrangements and care are being provided by Garden City Funeral Home.
George T. Rogers
DEER LODGE - George T. Rogers, 77, of Deer Lodge, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula of natural causes.
He was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Deer Lodge, the son of John A. and Marguerite (Hollenback) Rogers.
George was raised and educated in Gold Creek. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. In September 1947, George married
Helen A. Baird-Carstensen in Idaho. He adopted Helen's two boys, ages 2Þ years old and 8 months old, and raised them as his own.
George spent 27 years in Spokane and eight years in Sonoma, Calif., associated with heavy equipment repair. He retired in 1989 and along with Helen returned to Deer Lodge in 1995.
George was a member of the Elks for several years. He enjoyed traveling all over the United States with Helen in their motor home. He loved to meet and visit with people all around the country.
George was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Josephine.
He is survived by his wife Helen of Deer Lodge; three children, Pete Rogers and wife Kathy of Trinity Center, Calif., Steven Rogers and wife Cathy of Deer Lodge and Gail Rogers-Scherlen and husband John of Hillsboro, Ohio; three brothers, Albert Rogers of New Hampshire, Vincent Rogers of Spokane and Anthony 'Tony' Rogers of Hawaii; three sisters, Veronica Rabel of Bozeman, Teresa Smith of Helena and Frances Lange of Boise; two grandchildren, Brian Rogers and wife Jean of Petaluma, Calif., and Todd Rogers and wife Trisha of Albany, Calif.; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
At George's request, his body will be donated for medical study and no services will be held.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 3914, Missoula, MT 59806.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.
Hugh G. Cumming
HAMILTON - Hugh G. Cumming, 87, of Hamilton, passed away Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at his home.
He was born Jan. 27, 1914, in Butte.
He is survived by his wife Alice and two stepdaughters.
Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
No local services will be held. A visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Dahl Funeral Home in Billings, immediately followed by a graveside service at Mount View cemetery.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
Mary Ann 'Mayme' Lee
HAMILTON - Mary Ann "Mayme" Lee, 87, of Hamilton, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Valley View Estates.
She was born on a ranch at St. Peters Mission, north of Cascade, on Oct. 15, 1914, to the late John Leo and Catherine Tabor, one of nine siblings.
She was married
to Chester Lee and had a son Richard. They all lived in Great Falls until Mary Ann and Chester retired. After they retired they bought a home in Lincoln. They enjoyed the open area around Lincoln, and loved to have family and friends come visit. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing and quilting. Several of her quilts were gifts to her family and nieces and nephews.
She moved to Hamilton and bought her home in 1986 to be near her sister Elizabeth and brother-in-law Keith Kehmeier.
Mary Ann used to belong to the Hamilton Garden Club; she loved the flowers in her yard. One of the happiest times of her life was having a family reunion in Lincoln, with at least 75 family members attending.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chester, son Richard, her parents, brothers John Edward Tabor, Jim Tabor and Thomas Tabor and sister Agnes Olds.
She is survived by sisters Trannie Bertsch and Minnie Remsh, both of Great Falls, and Elizabeth "Dollie" Kehmeier of Hamilton; brother Emmett Tabor of Great Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Monday at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at O'Conner Funeral Home in Great Falls. Interment will follow at Highland cemetery in Great Falls.
