In 1917, the family homesteaded in the Bull Mountains at Pine View, north of Pompeys Pillar. Returning to Billings in 1920 after the death of his father, Everett was educated at the old Washington, Garfield and Fratt Memorial schools and graduated from Senior High.

His first job was with Piggly Wiggly, from there moving to California where he worked as a professional gardener. Returning to Billings he worked for the Northern Pacific/Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring as a conductor in 1975 after 38 years of service and maintaining his fraternity with his railroad friends until the time of his death.

He married Roberta (Bobbie) Cameron, his "Yellow Rose of Texas," in Little Flower Catholic Church in Billings. She preceded him in death in 1983. Later he married Frances Anderson who passed away in 1993. Since October of 1997 he has resided at a personal care home (H.I.C.O.) where he's received wonderful, loving care.

Doyle Ray Johnson
BAKER - Funeral services for Doyle Ray Johnson will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Pastor Waveland King will officiate at the service at the United Methodist Church in Plentywood; interment will be in Plentywood Memorial cemetery.
Doyle, 37, was found dead Wednesday morning in his apartment in Baker, where he lived alone. Fallon County Coroner Jon Stevenson said that indications are that Doyle died sometime on Friday, Sept. 4. While investigation into his death is continuing, he apparently died of acute alcohol intoxication.

Doyle Ray Johnson was born at Plentywood, Jan. 22, 1961, the son of Maynard and Phyllis (Lester) Johnson. He grew up in Plentywood and was a member of the State Championship PHS Wrestling Team, and went to State Music Festival with his trombone in the PHS Jazz Band. After graduation from Plentywood High School in 1979, Doyle briefly attended MSU at Bozeman, but then went to work. He first worked in the oilfields as a seismographer, but soon moved to deep hole drilling rigs as a floorhand.

Doyle was a private, quiet man who simply loved to work. He loved the oilfields and the people he worked with throughout Montana, Wyoming, and North Dakota. He was proud that he was able to work on re-drilling the discovery well in the Williston Basin at Tioga, and took great pride in the safety record of his company and "his crew." By the time he was 28, his high level of responsibility was recognized, and he was promoted to driller, worked on horizontal drilling rigs, and took great pride in his crews ... even though he found it wasn't easy working with some of "these young guys today!"

He has had a lifelong knack for how things work, loved working on machinery, and his '79 Camaro was his "baby." He traveled all over the country seeking parts, and was constantly rebuilding it in some way. A meticulous craftsman, he worked on construction of the Sheridan County Courthouse addition between oilfield jobs, and was always willing to help anyone, especially fixing and building. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Plentywood, where he has remained a member.

Doyle is survived by his parents, Maynard and Phyllis Johnson of Plentywood, and three brothers: Greg and his wife, Barbara of Sunnyvale, Calif.; Mark and his wife, Sharon of Watkins, Colo.; and Brian of Plentywood. He is also survived by uncles and aunts: Dean and Geri Clover and their three sons; Gary and Marcia Nelson, and their two children; Forrest "Bud" and Lorraine Lester, and their children; Harvey and Ruby Johnson, and their four children; Robert and Charlotte Page and their four sons; and Ron and Ginny Lester, and his four children.

Eric Jason Herberg
A Loving Tribute to Eric Jason Herberg
Eric Jason Herberg was born into this world on Dec. 13, 1978, to his proud parents, Connie and Jon Herberg. From his first day to his last he was an exuberant, compassionate, and loving person. Family was especially important to him, as was he to his family. "As a son, brother, and friend we couldn't have asked for better. If we live our lives by your example, we will have done well and can only hope to come close to your measure. We cherish every moment we have had with you Eric." His promising young life was cut short by a tragic automobile accident on Sept. 7, 1998.

Eric was a wonderful and thoughtful person, who made friends easily and lastingly. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, snowboard, and spend time with friends and family. His adventuresome spirit and enthusiastic personality were contagious and his goodness real. "I looked through your senior picture album today, Eric, and read what each of your friends wrote on the back of their pictures. They all had similar messages and what they wrote spoke volumes. You were a good and valued friend who cheered them up, gave them hugs, made them laugh, and cared for them."

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alvin and Mildred Herberg; an uncle, Michael Herberg; and two brothers, Bob and Daryn Herberg. He is survived by his loving sister, Sarah Herberg; his parents, Connie and Jon Herberg; his maternal grandparents, Duane and Lois Sneva; aunts and uncles, Dianne and Vic Renville, Terry Herberg, Craig and Mary Sneva, Scott and Connie Sneva, Darrin Sneva; cousins; and many, many friends.

"Our lives are all truly richer for having had you in them Eric, we'll miss you beyond what we can express. We'll miss your laughter, your hugs, your teasing, and your gentle ways. We'll cherish all the gifts, the notes, and the love you had for life and for those of us who were fortunate enough to share it with you. We all love you sweetheart."

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at the American Lutheran Church at 5 Lewis Ave. in Billings. There will be no graveside interment, as his ashes will be set free in the beauty of the Beartooth Mountains, where he loved to spend time.
