Hazel Bice Ramsay
EDGEWOOD, N.M. - Hazel Bice Ramsay, formerly of Billings and Terry, died at her home in Edgewood after a long battle with emphysema.
Hazel was raised and educated in Terry. She worked at the telephone company in Terry, later came to Billings and worked at the Grand Hotel as a telephone operator where she met her future husband, Jim Ramsay. They were married
in May 1949 and moved to Riverton, Wyo., later to New Mexico.
Survivors include her daughter, Patti Jo Endean, and son, Michael James Ramsay; two granddaughters and one great-grandson; sisters: Marion Leverton, Janet Bice, Judy Watts, Linda Bates, Helen Love, all of Billings; Marlene Graham, Glasgow; Ann Facis of Scobey; Nancy Frye, Harvey, N.D.; brothers: Frank Bice, Minot, N.D., Dale Bice, Billings; and Lynn Bice, Terry.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two infant children, Patrick and Sharon; her parents, Clarence and Erna Bice; brothers, Russell, Howard and Neil of Terry, and Glenn of Billings; a sister, Florence Rainey of Miles City.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at a later date in Edgewood.
Jeffrey C. Waters
MALTA - Jeffrey C. Waters, 36, died Sunday, July 11, 1998, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings from pneumonia.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at the Adams Memorial Chapel, with interment in the Malta cemetery.
Glen Franklin Branstetter
POWELL, Wyo. - Glen Franklin Branstetter, 60, died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at the Powell Nursing Home.
Cremation has taken place. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Ballard Funeral Home is in charge.
Hazel L. Davis
Hazel L. Davis, 84, of Billings passed away at the St. Vincent Hospital on Saturday, July 11, 1998.
Hazel was born Dec. 1, 1913, in Belt, to Frank and Lyda Price, the youngest of nine children. She graduated from Billings Senior High in 1932.
Hazel married
Mel Davis in 1935.
She began working at Clark's Market as a meat wrapper in 1957. She continued her career as a meat wrapper until her retirement in 1978 from the IGA Store in the Heights.
Hazel enjoyed playing bridge, square dancing with Mel, being a Senior Volunteer, bowling for many years on the Heights league, crafts, canning and cooking. Up until January of 1998, she walked two miles a day, stopping for a doughnut or muffin with her walking ladies.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Senior Volunteers, Billings Bench Club and Birthday Club.
Survivors include her son, Alan and wife, Caryl Davis and Casper, Wyo.; daughters, Judy and Tim Sather of Missoula; Sherrie and Ron Linger of Richmond Va.; seven grandchildren, Larry Davis of Rock Springs, Wyo., Lonnie and Kathy Davis of Alliance, Neb., Laura Reamer of Great Falls, Karen Sather of Boise, Idaho, and Pam Sather of Jackson, Wyo., Josh and Shelley Linger of Richmond, Va., Sara and Nick Skottegaard of Richmond, Va.; six great-grandchildren. She is also surviving by a "special granddaughter," Marcie Kading and three "bonus" great-grandchildren, Emily, Hank and Calvin Kading of Billings. Many nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mel and her brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at First United Methodist Church. Interment of the cremains will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mountview cemetery. Memorials to the Special Olympics and or the First United Methodist Church.
Walter B. 'Junior' Dean III
FORSYTH - Walter B. "Junior" Dean II, 89, of Forsyth, died Friday, July 10, 1998, at the Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth, of natural causes.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at the Beals Mortuary Chapel in Forsyth, with inurnment in the Custer County cemetery at a later date.
Ruby F. Hanson
THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. - Ruby F. Hanson, 93, died Friday, July 10, 1998, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at the Community Federated Church, with interment in the Monument Hill cemetery. Mortimore Funeral Home is in charge.
Vera Leone (Williams) Hoadley
BOZEMAN - Vera Leone (Williams) Hoadley, 83, of Bozeman, passed away July 11, 1998, of natural causes at the Mountain View Care Center.
She was born in Billings, on Jan. 12, 1915, to Harley and Mabel Grace (Friend) Williams. She attended elementary and high school in Evanston, Wyo., and graduated from the University of Wyoming. She was a member of the Phi Upsilon Omicron, a national sorority of Home Economics.
Vera started her teaching career in Meteetsee, Wyo. She then moved to Belgrade and taught Home Economics in the high school for three years.
She married
George Hoadley at Evanston, Wyo. on July 25, 1941.
In June of 1945, George started Hoadley's Standard Service Station at the corner of Mendenhall and Tracy. Vera was an integral part of the business, managing the books and the banking from the home for many years.
Vera attended the First Baptist church, where she played the piano for many years. She was also a member of the Women's Society, frequently serving as secretary. She was well known locally as an excellent accompanist and pianist. She was a long time member of the Pine Butte Club.
Vera was a frequent competitor In the Winter Fair, entering her works in the needlepoint competitions.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Cora (Madsen) Hoadley of Bozeman; her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Patrick Gormley of Redwood City, Calif.; her daughter Barbara Yates also of Redwood City; four granddaughters, Annette Gormley, Gayle Gormley Gregorius, Lori Hoadley Thornhlll and Christine Hoadley; five great grandchildren Megan and Anthony Gregorius, Joseph and Benjaminb Gormley, Ahnika Thornhlil; her sister Ruth Williams of Kalamazoo, Mich., and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; her brother and sister-in-law Alden and Mignon Williams.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, Cremation has taken place. Family interment of ashes to take place Friday at Sunset Hills cemetery.

Ethel Humphrey Inskeep
WORLAND, Wyo. - Ethel Humphrey Inskeep, 66, of Worland, formerly of Hardin, Mont., died Friday, July 10, 1998, at her home, of cancer.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the First Baptist Church, with interment in the Riverview cemetery in Worland. Veile Mortuary is in charge.
Lana 'Banana' Mae Smith
Lana "Banana" Mae Smith, 32, of Billings passed away Sunday morning, July 12, 1998 at the Deaconess Medical Center.
Lana was born in Whitefish, on Dec. 11, 1965. She enjoyed the out-of-doors with its fresh air and blue sky, latch hook and cross stitch. Also, cross country skiing and had planned to learn to down-hill ski.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Frank Smith, Sr., Della and Alvin Walker of Miles City.
She is survived by her mother Lola (Chic) and Dick Reser of Worden; her father, Mel and Middy Smith of Billings; brother, Mark and wife, Brenda Smith of Fayville, N.C.; Travis and Justin Smith of Billings; and sister, Tana Smith of Billings; grandparents, Lawrence and Laura Webster of Miles City; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Lana will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 17 at the Valley Baptist Church at Huntley on Road 8. Interment will be in the Pleasantview cemetery in Ballantine. Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday at the Smith Downtown Chapel in Billings. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breast Cancer Research and Awareness Programs, or you can plant a tree in her memory.
Metalou Watson
Meta-Louise (Metalou) Prange Watson, age 76, died July 10, 1998. Born in Indianapolis, Ind., daughter of Louis G. and Augusta S. Prange. She married
Kenneth F. Watson in 1942, and they lived in Indiana, and Ohio until they moved to the Billings area in 1968.
Metalou was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frederick A. Prange and Louis A. Prange; and her loving husband, Kenneth.
She is survived by her children, Roger J. (Susan) Watson, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mark K. (Shirley) Watson, of Pompeys Pillar, Scott D. Watson of Juneau, Alaska and daughter, Pamela K. (Scott) Griswold, of Billings; sisters, Katharine P. Lane of Lakeland, Fla., and Jeanne P. (Harrison - "Bud") Gates of Roundup; Godson, Jeffrey H. Gates of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
Memorials to Shriners Childrens Hospitals or charity of choice. Memorial services are pending at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Heights Chapel. Cremation has taken place.

SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Eldon L. Wilson, 81, of Sheridan, died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at his home.

FORSYTH - Donald Glen Winnett, 61, of Forsyth, died Sunday, July 5, 1998, north of Forsyth, as a result of a sudden heart attack.
Private family interment services were held Friday, July 10, at the Forsyth Veterans cemetery. Beals Mortuary was in charge.

Howard Farquhar
GLASGOW - Howard Farquhar, 91, of Glasgow, died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital, of natural causes.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 13, at the Bell Chapel in Glasgow, with interment in the Highland cemetery.
Theresa 'Terry' Massing
LAUREL - Theresa "Terry" Massing, of Laurel, passed away July 10, 1998. She had heart surgery on June 1, and never recovered. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1930, to Santos Rivera and Nancy Rivera. She married
her husband, Ramin while he was stationed at Pearl Harbor Marine Barracks in 1949.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother and brothers.
She was the mother of three children, Nancy Widner of Louisville, Ky., Ramin Jr. of Laurel and Leilani Campbell of Billings. She had five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Her Crochet articles were known all over the state and her great love that went into them.
She has been cremated and private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Saint Vincent Hospital for the care in our time of need. May God bless.
Melvin Carl Peterson
MEDFORD, Ore. - Former Billings resident Melvin Carl Peterson, 84, died July 8, 1998, in his sleep at his home in Medford. He was born Oct. 7, 1913, in Elgin, Neb., and lived in Montana from 1916 to 1997. A farmer early in life, he worked for Continental Bulk plant until retiring in 1979.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Freada Hankel Peterson in Medford; one daughter, Evelyn Gorman of Whitefish; two brothers, Frank of Billings, Ernest of Miles City; two sisters, Ida Brush and May Zeeb of Billings; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters; and a second daughter, Beverly Buck.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held graveside at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings on July 17 at 10 a.m. Memorials to Montana State University Foundation, 1501 S. 11th Ave., Bozeman, Mont. 59717, suggested in lieu of flowers.
