Thomas Keith Holtz
ABSAROKEE - Thomas Keith Holtz, 67, of Absarokee, passed away Thursday, July 9, 1998.
He was born Nov. 26, 1930, in Absarokee to Vernon and Elizabeth Holtz. After graduating from high school in Arlington, Wash., he served four years in the Air Force.

Keith lived and worked in Hawaii for Western Union until his retirement in 1990. He had a great love of the ocean and sailing.

Keith is survived by his brother, Jack of Absarokee; his aunt, Jo Woods of Absarokee; stepsisters, Mary Margaret Arthun of Roscoe, Donna Nystul of Columbus; stepbrother, Jack Ross of Absarokee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. A family and friends gathering will take place at Keith's residence at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 1998, in Absarokee.

David Clark Gordon Sr.
MONTROSE, Colo. - David Clark Gordon Sr. of Montrose died on his 86th birthday, Sunday, July 5, 1998, at the Montrose Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Friday, July 10, 1998, at 2 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church of Montrose, with the Rev. Paul Parsons officiating.

Interment will follow at the Grand View cemetery in Montrose, with the arrangements being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Gordon, may be made to the American Heart Association of Colorado, in care of Mary White, Montrose Memorial Hospital, 800 S. 4th, Montrose, Colo. 81401.

David Clark Gordon Sr. was born on July 5, 1912, at West Charlton, N.Y., the son of James A. and Isabelle Clark Gordon. He spent his childhood in New York and graduated from high school in Torrington, Wyo. He attended college in Sterling, Kan.

Mr. Gordon served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 1st Class.

He has lived in New York, Wyoming, Illinois, California and Colorado, where he made his home until the time of his death.

Along with two of his brothers, George Gordon and Donald Gordon, he co-founded Gordon Plastics in San Diego, Calif., and Montrose.

On Jan. 24, 1938, Mr. Gordon married Eleanor Pease at Waukegan, Ill. His wife of 60 years survives at the family home in Montrose.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Gordon is survived by his son, David Jr. and wife, Becky Gordon; daughters, Judith and husband, Paul McClure of Montrose, Mary and husband, John Emtman of Spokane, Wash., Ruth and husband, Gary Stevens of Cameroon, West Africa; eight grandchildren, Diane Gordon of Montrose, Jim Gordon of Poway, Calif., Robert Young, Richard Young and Michelle Dexter, all of Spokane, Scott Gordon of Kings Point, N.Y., Peter Stephens of San Diego, Matthew Stephens of Upland, Ind.; and eight great-grandchildren.

Other family survivors include his brothers: George and wife, Margaret Gordon of Vista, Calif.; Dr. Robert and wife, Violet Gordon of Clayton, N.M.; Donald and wife, Adeline Gordon of Kona, Hawaii; and sister-in-law, Alma Gordon of Colorado Springs.

Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

He belonged to the First Presbyterian Church of Montrose.

Mr. Gordon enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, the outdoors, watching football and fly fishing.

Lillian B. Harrington
Lillian B. Harrington, 90, of Billings, passed away Thursday morning, July 9, 1998, at Saint Vincent Hospital. She was born July 31, 1907, in Walkerville.
She worked in the Butte wholesale district for the W.A. White Brokerage Firm and for the Sweet Brothers Company. On July 2, 1941, she married John T. Harrington. Lillian was a member of Eastern Star and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She lived in Falmouth, England, from 1929 until 1931.

Lillian and her family moved from Butte to Havre in 1955 and lived in Helena from 1960 to 1961. In 1961, they moved to Billings. Mr. Harrington died Sept. 27, 1986.

Survivors include her two sons, Raymond J. Harrington of Woodbridge, Va., and Donald E. Harrington of Billings; and four grandchildren in Virginia.

Visitation will be held 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Private family graveside services are planned. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Alderson Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Martin 'Clint' Clinton
LEWISTOWN - Martin J. "Clint" Clinton, 73, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at Valle Vista Manor after a short illness.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 13, at the United Methodist Church. The Cloyd Funeral Home of Lewistown is in charge.

Brian J. Marsh
PLENTYWOOD - Brian Marsh from Plentywood died Wednesday, July 8. He was born in Plentywood on Sept. 12, 1975.
Brian is survived by his mother Dorothy Marsh of Plentywood; his father Fred Marsh of Missoula; a brother Steve Marsh of Seattle, Wash.; two children Devon and Cassandra Marsh of Billings; his maternal grandmother and step-grandfather Alma and Norris Tronson of Plentywood; his fraternal grandparents Donna and Jerry Marsh of Kalispell; several aunts, uncles, cousins and best friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Harold Smith of Plentywood; his son Joshua Marsh of Billings; and his cousin Jason Smith of Plentywood.

There will be a visitation for Brian at Fulkerson Memorial Funeral Chapel on Saturday, July 11, at 7 p.m.

Sue Hutton
Sue Hutton, 77, of Billings died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, in Billings.
Elizabeth Sue Croonquist, the daughter of Harold S. and Laura Croonquist, was born in Red Lodge, March 13, 1921. She always loved her mountains, and returned there many times every year. She lost her father at a very young age, and their little family went through some tough times. By high school, they had moved to Billings. But nothing slowed her down - she excelled at school, was valedictorian of her class at Billings Senior in 1938, editor of the student paper, and went on to college at Bozeman.

Her dream was to be a nurse, but when her physical stamina did not hold up to the demands, she changed to education, which, of course, was where she was meant to be. For over 30 years she worked at Billings Senior High School as a teacher, dean of girls, and guidance counselor, where she impacted the lives of countless thousands of students, advising, comforting, reprimanding and cajoling them to be all that they could be.

No matter where we went, even in these last years, we always met someone who remembered Mrs. Hutton. She also had a long career as AFS advisor and field representative and still receives Christmas cards from her foreign exchange kids all over the world.

She married Lowell Hutton on Aug. 29, 1943. Together they enjoyed a rich retirement of travels all over the world, and visits with her beloved grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Lowell of Billings; her daughter, Susan Hutton Gammill and her husband, Bob of Fargo, N.D.; and three grandchildren, Laura Gammill and her husband, York Marahrens, Richard Gammill and his wife, Amy, and David Gammill.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Croonquist; and her beloved son, Richard Lowell Hutton.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational United Church of Christ with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The casket will be closed at church.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association or Billings Public Education Foundation.

Dorothy Lee Wolff
Dorothy Lee Wolff, 68, of Billings, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at the Deaconess Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born Sept. 3, 1929, in Paducah, Ky., daughter of Fred and Margaret L. Harper Goodwin. She spent her early childhood in Paducah and Chicago.

She came to Billings in the late '60s when she worked for the Dude Rancher Motel and met and married Pete Wolff. She also worked later at the Ponderosa Inn. At the time of her death, she was employed by Pride of Montana.

Dorothy was a very special person. She enjoyed doing things for others and had a deep faith in God. She loved her family and having coffee with her Wal-Mart friends. She enjoyed embroidering and crocheting. Dorothy was a member of the Catholic Church.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Sterling Jr. and wife, Barbara, and Charles Sterling and Betty of Billings; her brother, Horace (Ace) Goodwin of Otter; sister, Geneva Powers of Sheridan, Wyo.; several nieces and nephews, one uncle. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Family services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Memorials to St. Patrick's Church. Smith Downtown Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Susan Lynn Kirk
RICHMOND, Calif. - Susan Lynn Kirk, of Richmond, died Monday at Doctors Medical Hospital in San Pablo of surgery complications following an extended illness.
Susan was born Aug. 22, 1957, in Helena, Mont., lived for a short time in Missoula and Circle, Mont., and then attended grade school back in Helena. She moved with her family to Glendive, Mont., in 1971 and graduated from Dawson County High School in 1975.

After graduation, Susan moved back to Helena to attend beauty college. In 1981, she married high school sweetheart Bill Kirk. They moved to Texas and later San Francisco with the military. They later divorced.

Susan became a computer software specialist and was employed by Walker Interactive of San Francisco. She traveled extensively as part of her job and enjoyed long-term assignments in Washington, D.C., as well as several locations in Europe. She was doing freelance computer consulting at the time of her death.

Susan was preceded in death by her grandparents; her sister, Shelly; her natural father, Jack Stewart; and her mother, Dolly Davis.

She is survived by her father and his wife, Michael and Dorothy Davis of Sheridan, Mont.; her sisters and their husbands: Debi and Steve Johnson of Missoula, Linda and Shawn Ward of Dillon, Mont., Jeanise and Pat Durnam of Bozeman, Mont., Patti and Jim Pettersen of Glendive, and brother and his wife, Michael and Annie Davis of Lewistown, Mont.; as well as two half-brothers, Scott and Jeff Stewart. Also surviving are nieces, Whitney Ward and Kelsie Phillips; nephews, Zachary and Seth Durnam, Dustin Ward, Hadyn Pettersen and Jace Davis; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial Services will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hagler-Anderson Funeral Home.

Kurt A. Osen
GLASGOW - Kurt A. Osen, 44, died Wednesday, July 8, 1998, at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital of natural causes after surgery.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 13, at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow with interment in the Hillview cemetery in Hinsdale. Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge.

Nila J. Cundall
MILES CITY - Nila J. Cundall, 80, of Miles City, died Thursday, July 9, 1998, at Deaconess Medical Center in Billings.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, at the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Dawson County cemetery in Glendive.

James Robert Adams
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - James Robert Adams, 73, died Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at his home in Sheridan.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at Kane Funeral Home in Sheridan with interment in the Resthaven Park cemetery in Glendale, Ariz.

Mary Lillian Shults Nicol
Mary Lillian Shults Nicol was born May 23, 1902, west of Hamilton to pioneers Victor L. Shults and Clara Blodgett Shults. She was the third of seven children: Clara Bohler, Eldon, Edward, Delbert, Glenn and Louise Oertli. She attended a small one-room grade school, graduated valedictorian from Corvallis High School in 1920, and attended the University of Montana for one year, during which time she was secretary for President Jesse.
She married Harold A. Nicol, Aug. 17, 1921, at her parents' home. During their married life they lived in Hamilton, Victor, St. Regis, Anaconda, Roundup, and Missoula. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1971.

Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1973, as well as her parents, four brothers and a sister. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Cuthbert Thiot and husband, Charles, Spokane; son, Robert H. Nicol and wife, Beverly, Billings; son, Donald L. Nicol and wife, Gloria, Spokane; sister, Louise Oertli, Hamilton; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was very active in Eastern Star which she joined in 1936 in Roundup. In Missoula she was a member of Electa Chapter, being past Worthy Matron. She also was a member of Nile, Soroptomist Club, Presbyterian Church, Book Chat Club, and on a bowling team until recently.

Her work included the Office Supply, Ogg's Shoe Store, and as an accountant at the University of Montana Business Office and later at the Field House, where she kept fraternity and sorority books. She sold tickets at all the athletic and field house events, and was an avid booster at all athletic games. She so enjoyed her work at the University and her contacts with the students. Mother worked at the University for 38 years.

Our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. She passed away in Billings on Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at the age of 96.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at the Malletta Family of Funeral Homes, Squire Chapel at 3035 S. Russell in Missoula. A reception will follow at the First Presbyterian Church at 235 S. 5th St. in Missoula with graveside services at 3 p.m. at Blodgett cemetery outside of Corvallis.

Esther Ellen Monaco
Esther Ellen Monaco, 94, of Billings passed through the door and entered into a new life Tuesday evening. She died of natural causes. Esther was a first generation Italian American, who loved cooking, gardening, and making sure all her family and friends had plenty of food on their plate. Family was everything to Esther and she is now reunited with all who went before her.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Bob and Judy Monaco of Havre; three grandsons and their wives, Rob and Patti Monaco, Russ and Kathy Monaco of Billings and Reece and Steph Monaco of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two great-granddaughters, Jennifer and Malory Monaco and; three sisters-in-law, Mary Leone, Isabell Monaco and Eda Monaco.

Esther will be missed by all who knew her and her great sense of humor and the stubborn old world ways that got her through life in this world. "Good-bye Gram"

Vigil services will be 5 p.m. Friday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist, Alderson Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Little Flower Catholic Church with Rite of Committal at Holy Cross cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Little Flower Catholic Church.

Lorraine T. Campbell
Lorraine T. Campbell, 63 of Billings, died Tuesday July 7, 1998, at the St. Vincent Hospital.
The daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Keller, Lorraine was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Dickinson, N.D. She attended St. Joseph's Grade School and Central High School in Dickinson. Lorraine moved to Billings in 1955. She married Richard E. Campbell in Billings, Feb. 27, 1960. Lorraine had worked as a waitress and had been a housekeeping supervisor at both St. Vincent Hospital and Deaconess Medical Center for many years.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Parish. Although her health kept her from always being able to attend Mass, someone from the parish always brought communion to her.

Lorraine enjoyed camping, driving the boat and music, especially listening to her husband play the organ. She enjoyed time with her family and her little dog, Tiny. Lorraine was always appreciative of the students from Billings Central High School who would come over to help and visit.

Survivors include her husband, Richard E. Campbell; three brothers, Louie and Carol Keller of Billings, Herb and Donna Keller of Billings, and Bob and Libby Keller, Rogers, Neb.; five sisters, Rose Burch of Vidor, Texas, Loretta and Ervin Skalsky of Longmont, Colo., Mae Bailey of Billings, Mary and Bob Wendle of Beulah, N.D., and Pauline and Frank Rebel of Hebron, N.D.; brother-in-law, Don and Jelena Campbell of Billings; sisters-in-law, Marlene Keller Stanley of Dickinson and Janet Keller of Minnesota; and an aunt Catherine Metz of Dickinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Helen Schneider, and two brothers, Joe and Eugene Keller.

Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist, Alderson Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Parish with Rite of Committal at Mountview cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Lung Association or Holy Rosary Parish.
