ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Lindford Charles Dodge, 70, formerly of the Mission Creek area in Montana, died Saturday, June 6, 1998, in Englewood.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 11, in the chapel of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston, Mont. Graveside committal and burial of the cremated remains will be in Mountainview cemetery in Big Timber, Mont.

BUFFALO, Wyo. - Griffin M. Parkin, 84, died Sunday, June 7, 1998, at his home north of Buffalo.
Visitation will be 1-10 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, at the LDS Church with interment in Willow Grove cemetery, both in Buffalo.

LIVINGSTON - Leonore E. Holman, 99, of the Mill Creek area south of Livingston, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at Livingston Health and Rehab Center.
A family visitation with cremation to follow will be Thursday, June 11, at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 11, in the funeral home chapel. Interment of the cremated remains will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13, in the Miles City cemetery.

LIVINGSTON - Andrew Gilbert Amaro, 87, died Sunday, June 7, 1998, at the Livingston Health and Rehab Center.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at the home of Sidney Amaro, 64 Dry Creek Road in Wilsall. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Livingston is in charge.
Rita Diane Beougher
DENVER - Rita Diane Beougher, 60, formerly of Buffalo, Wyo., died May 23, 1998, at her home in Denver.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Adams Funeral Home in Buffalo with private interment to follow.
Margaret Grace Schmitt
POWELL, Wyo. - Margaret Grace Schmitt, of Powell, passed away at the Powell Nursing Home, June 8, 1998, at the age of 91 years. She would have turned 92 on June 12.
The daughter of Joseph Anton Hauschel and Lottie Lucynthia (Gould) Hauschel, she was born June 12, 1906, on the family farm near Morrowville, Kan.
On Jan. 6, 1930, she married
Kenneth Merle Schmitt at Clifton, Kan., and to them four children were born.
Survivors are daughter, Mrs. Loren (Joan) Burch and one son, Eldon L. Schmitt and his wife, Bert all of Powell; three sisters, Mildred Hubka of Washington, Kan., Mrs. Arden (Marjorie) Leonard of Fairbury, Neb., Louise (Lucy) Menke of Hebron, Neb., and one brother, Howard Hauschel of Haddam, Kan.; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren
Preceding her in death were her husband, Kenneth; two daughters, Judith Mae Beerline and LaVeda Muriel Decker; her parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 12, at 10 a.m. at the Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home in Powell, with the Rev. Ron Kapalka officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home Thursday evening.
John Clarence Schumacher
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - John C. Schumacher, 75, a resident of Federal Way since 1973, died at home on Tuesday, June 2, 1998.
He was born at Reliance, S.D., on Nov. 9, 1922, to Christ and Carolina Schumacher. He was married
to Vyolette E. Remmich on Nov. 14, 1943, at Vida, Mont.
He and his wife lived in Laurel, Mont., for many years until moving to Spokane in about 1965 to own and manage two small apartment buildings. In 1973, he and his wife sold their apartment buildings and moved to Federal Way.
He is survived by Vyolette, his loving wife of 54 years, and by his five children: Harvey L. Schumacher of Laurel; Bo Schumacher of Spokane; Ron Schumacher of Medical Lake; Patricia A. Jordan of Tacoma; and Willy J. Schumacher of Chatteroy. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters. He was preceded in death by one brother.
A memorial service was held Friday, June 5, 1998, at Bonney-Watson Funeral Chapel, Federal Way.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 12, 1998, at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Chapel, Spokane, followed by interment at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, Spokane.
Lela E. Hall
SIDNEY - Lela B. Hall, age 98, of Sidney, and formerly of Wibaux, died on Monday, June 8, 1998, at the Sidney Health Center Extended Care Facility in Sidney. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 1998, at the Christian Fundamental Church in Wibaux with Pastor Jerry Mayer officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
Lela was born on April 26, 1900, in Pequot, Minn., to Calvin and Effie Cruikshank. At the age of 12, she traveled with her parents and three sisters in a covered wagon from Iowa to Montana. Lela was employed as a railway telegrapher during World War I and World War II, working at various Montana locations between Miles City and Wibaux, meeting Guy Hall in Marsh. They were married
on Dec. 25, 1920, in Glendive and later lived in Beach and Sentinel Butte, N.D., before moving to Wibaux, where they made their home for 30 years in the apartment above the Northern Pacific Depot in Wibaux. After retiring from the railroad in 1960, they continued to make their home in Wibaux and were active members of the Christian Fundamental Church. After Guy's death in 1970, Lela spent time visiting with her many friends and family. She was active in the Senior Citizen's group, as well as the Wibaux Garden Club. She especially enjoyed traveling by train to visit her sisters and grandchildren throughout the United States and took numerous tours that included Nashville, Alaska, Hawaii and Europe. For the past two-and-a-half years, Lela has enjoyed the company of countless new friends made while a resident at the Extended Care Unit of Sidney Health Center in Sidney. Over the years, Lela was well known for her collection of owls, miniature silver spoons, and blue ribbons won at the county fair. Her hobbies included baking, knitting, crocheting, flower gardening, making crafts and playing board games, especially Scrabble and Bingo. Lela "Gramma Hall" was loved by many and will be missed by all those who knew her.
Lela is survived by her sons, Guy Hall and his wife, Virginia of Dickinson, N.D., and Bob Hall of Sidney; two sisters, Katherine Rigby and Mabel Latsha; 11 grandchildren, Roberta Hall Harper of Sidney, Linda Hall Booher and her husband, Rich of San Antonio, Texas, Rebecca Hall of Albuquerque, N.M., Deborah Hall Zins and her husband, Robert of Spokane, Wash., Brad Hall and his wife, Po of Albuquerque, Kris Hall Engstrom and her husband, Larry of Reno, Nev., Diane Hall Whiting of Dickinson, Don Hall and his wife, Paulette of Liverpool, N.Y., Doug Hall and his wife, Randi of Minot, N.D., Debbie Hall Stuhler and her husband, Eric of St. Charles, Mo., and Donna Mae Hall Filkowski of Fort Collins, Colo.; and Lela's special friend, Dee Elletson of Sidney; 37 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and three nieces and their families of College Place, Wash.
Lela was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Jessica.
Mary Frances Sands
DENVER - Mary Frances was born in the Depot in Lodge Grass, the second daughter of Arthur Gerald Westwood and Hilda Westwood. She was born following her older brother, Arthur G. Westwood Jr., and her older sister, Geraldine W. Mann, who both preceded her in death.
She is survived by one brother, Jack Westwood of Hardin. Mary Frances grew up in Lodge Grass and attended the Lodge Grass Schools, later attending college at Montana State University in Missoula. While in Missoula, she met her husband, Warren Sands. They were married
while attending school there.
Frances and Warren had five children. Twins, Mike and Van, Mike was killed in the Korean War and Van, Art and John live in Colorado, where their mother also lived. A daughter, Margaret Sands, is presently living in California. Mary Frances' husband, Warren, preceded her in death in Colorado.
Mary Frances Sands died March 18, 1998, in Denver, at the age of 75. A Memorial Service was held in Denver on March 23. A Graveside Memorial Service will be given by Pastor Pateng Makdoh, from the First Baptist Church of Hardin at Mountview cemetery in Billings at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 13. Cremation has taken place.
Grace Mary Suko
HARDIN - Grace Mary Suko, 89, of Hardin, passed away Monday evening, June 8, 1998, at the Big Horn County Memorial Hospital in Hardin.
She was born April 14, 1909, in Wexford County, Mich., a daughter of Frank and Helen Weller Miller. She came to Montana with her parents to a homestead near Ringling and attended schools in Latt Porcupine School near Wilsal and Livingston. They then traveled to Canada, Columbus and Nampa, Idaho, where she finished her education. Grace attended practical nurse training in Denver and worked as a practical nurse for many years.
She married
Daniel Suko in Billings on Feb. 24, 1940. They couple moved to a ranch in Wyoming for a time, before moving to Laurel in 1950. In 1987, they moved to Hardin to be near family. Mr. Suko passed away in 1995.
Grace raised several foster children and was a member of the Christian Fellowship non-denominational church.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Suko of Missoula; three brothers, William, Robert and Charles Miller of Spokane, Wash.; two sisters, Irene Miller and Katherine Miller of Spokane; she was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law and many friends.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Fairview cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Pearl Catherine Stenger
Pearl Catherine Stenger, 90, of Billings, passed away Sunday, June 7, 1998, in Billings.
She was born Pearl Catherine Austin, Sept. 7, 1907, in Artesian, S.D. Pearl grew up in Artesian and Timber Lake, S.D., where she attended schools and helped on the family ranch.
She met and married
Calvin H. Stenger on May 25, 1927, in Timber Lake. He died in 1955.
Pearl and Cal had six children: Edward (now deceased), Earl and Leonard of Laurel, Theresa of Stockton, Calif., John of Galt, Calif., and Wayne of Modesto, Calif. Cal also had two children by a previous marriage, Lorrine and Kenneth who are both deceased. Pearl has three sisters, Alda of Washington, Babe of South Dakota and Zeta of Billings; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
The Stenger family farmed in South Dakota until 1941 when they moved to the state of Washington where they farmed and worked in the shipyards and at Fort Lewis until the end of World War II. They moved to Montana in 1947. After Pearl's husband died in 1955 she worked at Gavert's Green House until retiring in 1972.
Pearl loved her yard and flowers which she cared for until February of 1996 when she entered Western Manor Health Care Center.
The Vigil Service will be 7 p.m. Friday and the Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, both at Little Flower Catholic Church, corner of Third Avenue South and 34th Street. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Casket is closed. Smith's Downtown Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Little Flower Catholic Church or Western Manor Health Care Center.
Pearl Lewis
SIDNEY - Pearl Lewis, 82, formerly of Fairview, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at the Extended Care Facility.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 12, at the Church of Christ with interment in the Fairview cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney is in charge.
Jeanette Adams
CROW AGENCY - Jeanette Adams, 85, long time advocate of Crow education, passed away Monday, June 8, 1998, in the Crow Agency IHS Hospital.
She was born Jan. 29, 1913, in Crow Agency, a daughter of Don and Bessie Shane Little Light. She grew up and attended schools in Crow Agency and the Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, S.D. Following her education, she returned to the Crow Agency area.
Jeanette married
Douglas Adams Sr. on Jan. 1, 1930, and the couple made their home in the Black Lodge District near Crow Agency. She was chairman of the Crow Education Committee for 37 years and a charter member of the Crow Central Education Committee. She was instrumental in the development of health care on the Reservation, including Community Health Representatives, dental clinic development, addition to the old PHS Hospital and lobbying for the new IHS Hospital.
She was a member of the Baptist Church. She made two trips to the Holy Land which supported her Christian beliefs. She was a devoted mother and housekeeper who loved to bead, cook and sew. In her later years, she was honored for being the oldest survivor within the Little Light family.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband and three sons, Ronald, Lynn Roy and Douglas Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Joan Crooked Arms of Crow Agency; one sister, Bernice Jefferson of Lodge Grass; nine adopted sons, Tony Vogel of South Dakota, Clem Goes Ahead of Dunmore, Bob Kelly of Billings, Dr. Emery Johnson of Maryland, Byron Bad Bear of Arizona, Gayle Three Irons and Gussie Costa of Crow Agency, Scott Carpenter of Texas and Henry Pretty on Top of Lodge Grass; seven adopted daughters, Karen Little Light of Billings, Jacqueline Ware of New Mexico, Delma Yarlott of Benteen, Annie Costa of Crow Agency, Carlene, Gloria and Regina Goes Ahead of Dunmore; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday in the First Crow Baptist Mission. Interment will follow in the Crow Agency cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin is entrusted with the arrangements.
Russell C. Morin
Russell C. Morin, 87, died at his home in Billings of a heart attack, June 8, 1998.
Russell was born Aug. 22, 1910, in Kenmare, N.D., a son of Albert J. and Lucy J. Morin. He moved to northeastern Montana in 1912 and to the Billings area in 1923. He attended schools in Medicine Lake, Billings, and Roberts, graduating in 1928 from Absarokee High School and from Billings Business College in 1931.
He began his career with Yale Oil Corporation in 1931. He was office manager and accountant for refineries in Lovell and Newcastle, Wyo., and Kalispell. He entered military service in 1942 and served as a cryptographer in the South Pacific with the Army Air Corps until 1946. In 1947, he was assigned to the Credit Department of Carter Oil (now Exxon) and became manager of the Billings District until 1962. He was then transferred to Denver, Colo., as regional credit manager, retiring in August 1966 when he moved to Boise, Idaho, returning to Billings in 1973.
On Sept. 16, 1932, he married
Mae Obergfell in Billings; she died in October 1978. He married
Lois Schuster on Dec. 5, 1981, in Billings. He traveled extensively after retirement. He was a member of the Exxon Annuitants Club and many service organizations.
Russell will be remembered for his kindness and his consideration of others - especially to his family and his many dear friends.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Biff and Roy, and two sisters, Ruth and Mickie.
Russell is survived by his wife of 17 years, Lois; two stepsons, Wayne Schuster and wife, Charlene, and Ron Schuster and Ginny; many nieces and nephews in California, Missoula, Great Falls, and Helena; sisters-in-law, Naomi Haugrud, Mary Davies, Francis Bittner, Millie Tooley, and Irene Hegg; and brother-in-law, Elzie Arnold.
Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist, Alderson Chapel. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist, Alderson Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Viola O. Hill
NASHUA - Viola O. Hill, 83, of Nashua, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Rev. Greg Heller-Dinsmore officiating. Interment will follow in the Nashua City cemetery.
Viola was born Dec. 27, 1914 in Glasgow, the daughter of Henry and Ronelia (Peterson) Osterberg. She was raised and educated in Glasgow until her senior year when she graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in Minnesota. She then graduated from St. Olaf in Northfield, Minn., and taught school in Carpio, N.D. and Rapelje before returning to the Fort Peck/Nashua area.
Viola married
Calvin D. Hill Sr., on Dec. 7, 1940, in Wolf Point. After marriage, she taught school in Fort Peck and Nashua. They have farmed 10 miles north of Nashua since 1944. She played the organ in church since she was 14 years old, retiring in 1992, and was the church choir director for many years. She taught music in Nashua and Fort Peck, and was the Nashua School Librarian, retiring in 1973. Her husband died in 1991.
She loved gardening and flowers, was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and of Delta Kappa Gamma. Music was a very large part of her life.
Survivors include four sons, Dustin of Scobey, Wayne and John (Jack) of Nashua, and James of Germantown, Md.; one daughter, Isabelle Collins of Ramona, Calif.; one sister, Isabelle Thorson of Blooming Prairie, Minn.; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Calvin Hill Jr. in 1994; and one grandson.
