Ethel N. Bilyeu
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Ethel N. Bilyeu, 92, died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Viewing will be 2-8 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Ferries Funeral Home in Sheridan. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Sheridan Municipal cemetery, Masonic No. 43 section.
James 'Jimmy' Albert Wheatcroft
JORDAN - James "Jimmy" Albert Wheatcroft, age 81, of Jordan, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 1998, at the Garfield County Nursing Home in Jordan.
Jimmy was born on June 14, 1917, in Spokane, Wash., the son of Thomas R. and Mary Agnes Wheatcroft. He attended Steve's Fork Country Schools and Garfield County High School. Following school he returned to the family ranch and he remained there until 1990 when he moved to Glendive. In 1994, Jimmy returned to Jordan and has resided there since.
His true love was ranch, his animals and working with flowers - attempting to start his own orchard. He was a past Master of Masonic Lodge No. 148 and was an active member for over 45 years. He was active in the Scottish Rite of Billings, the Library Board, the Hospital Board and Election Board, the Al Bedoo Shrine Order, the Eastern Star Rim Rock Chapter and the Montana Stockgrowers Association.
He is survived by one sister, Elsie and her husband, Andy Schofield of Glendive; one special niece, Andeen Raymond and her husband, Bruce of Glendive; and many cousins in the United States and England.
There will be a luncheon at 12 p.m. at the Presbyterian church, all friends and family are welcome. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 22, 1998, at 2 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Jordan with Rev. Helen Young officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Steve's Fork cemetery in Sand Springs. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Jordan is in charge of arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital or the Garfield Co. Health Center.
Jean E. Stenerson
BAKER - Jean E. Stenerson, 70, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at the Fallon Medical Complex Nursing Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at the American Lutheran Church in Baker with interment at a later date. Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker is in charge.

FORSYTH - Chad Christopher "Chris" Brown, 40, died Monday, June 15, 1998, in Rosebud as a result of a machinery accident.

EVERETT, Wyo. - Ivey Mae Gray, 39, formerly of Ashland, Mont., died Saturday, June 13, 1998, in Stanwood.
A Wake service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the St. Labre Mission in Ashland. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 19, at the Mission with interment in the Gray family cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge.
Robert 'Bob' Free
SIDNEY - Robert "Bob" Free, 57, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at the Sidney Health Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with interment in the Sidney cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney is in charge.
Neal Burton Nelson
Neal Burton Nelson passed away Tuesday evening, June 16, 1998, at his home, surrounded by his family following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 23, 1916, in Laurel, the son of Hilbert D. and Etta Mayer Nelson.
After his parents' death, he moved to California with his sister, Doris. Upon graduation from high school, he returned to Billings to work and eventually own Peterson Typewriter. In 1982, he retired after 47 years.
Neal was joined in marriage with Bernadine Blackford on Feb. 4, 1938, and spent his life devoted to his wife and family. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Neal was respected by all who knew and worked with him. He passed on his honesty, integrity, and work ethic to his sons and grandchildren, who loved and admired him.
He is survived by his wife, Bernie; his sons, Wayne Nelson (Diane) and Fred Nelson (JoAnn); his sister, Doris Compton; his grandchildren, Kevin Nelson (Lorri), Pamela Nelson Small (Brent), Julie Nelson Hanser (Sheldon), and Neal Nelson II; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler Nelson, and Madison and Seeley Small.
Papa Neal, we will always remember your witty one-liners, your sense of humor, and your wonderful laugh.
The Rosary will be recited 6 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Alderson Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 19, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with cremation to follow. The casket is closed. LIVINGSTON - Annie Laurie Ludwig, 74, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at Livingston Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at Livingston Bible Church. Graveside committal and burial will be held next week in Oakland City, Ind.

WORLAND, Wyo. - Francez Baez Fabela, 78, of Worland, died Monday, June 15, 1998, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 19, at the Veile Mortuary Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with interment in Riverview Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Clinton E. Brown Sr.
LAUREL - Clinton E. Brown Sr., 62, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at his home in Laurel.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 22, at the Hysham Baptist Church. Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel was in charge of cremation.
Gary Johnson
BUTTE - Gary Johnson, age 53, died June 8, 1998, in Butte. He was born March 3, 1945, in Glendive, the son of Ole and Violet Johnson. He worked construction and also for various drilling companies throughout the Western U.S. and Indonesia.
He is survived by three sisters Janaire Reed and Joyce Pietz, both of Billings, and June Matovich of Columbus; three brothers, George Johnson of Whitehall, Ole Johnson of Sheridan, Wyo., and Will Johnson of Billings.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 19, in Dawson County cemetery, Glendive.
Larry A. Henman Sr.
Larry Henman, age 63, died peacefully in his sleep at home June 15, 1998. He was born Sept. 6, 1934, to Jay A. Henman and Georgia L. Willis in Billings.
He attended school in Billings and in 1952 he joined the Air Force and was stationed in England and France.
In 1957, he married
Helen LaVerne DeLange in Billings.
After his discharge from the Air Force in 1960, he worked in construction in and around Billings.
In 1973, he moved with his family to Miles City where he was employed at Eastern Montana Industries (a work shop for the mentally disabled). This was the most satisfying employment of his adult life. From 1984-1989, he and his wife resided in Polson. In 1989, Larry and Helen returned to Billings.
In his younger years, Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing. After his retirement in 1984, he occupied his time in his wood shed making special gifts for his children and grandchildren and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Billings; sons, Larry A. Henman Jr. (wife Tammy) of Watertown, S.D., Jay A. Henman II of Springfield, S.D., Dean A. Henman (wife Pam) of Miles City, Dennis A. Henman (wife Tammy) of Fort Wayne, Ind., Eric S. Henman (wife Jennifer) of Wahpeton, N.D., and daughter, Janelle M. Henman of Watertown; his mother, Georgia Henman of Billings; sisters, Barbara VanNoten (husband Brooklyn) of Billings, Peggy Kvislen (husband Mylo) of Belt; 16 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jay A. Henman, and one granddaughter.
A gathering of friends and family was held June 17, 1998. Cremation has taken place. Remains will be laid to rest with his father.
Joan Scarbrough-Brookshire
Joan Scarbrough-Brookshire, a Billings resident and former Great Falls resident, died in Billings on June 16, 1998.
She was born Jan. 22, 1946, in Long Beach, Calif., and resided in Little Rock, Ark.; Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Newport, R.I.; Charleston, S.C.; and Ann Arbor, Mich., prior to settling in Montana in 1969.
Survivors include her husband, David L. Brookshire of Billings; a daughter, Jolinda R. Moss (Butch) and grandson, Gage Evan Moss of Great Falls; a son, D. Peyton Brookshire (Mindy) and granddaughter, Hannah Paige Brookshire of Billings; a sister, Kathy D. Newcomb (Kelly), and two children, Dane Newcomb and Tylyn Newcomb of Denton; father, Donald R. Howard of Great Falls.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elgin Scarbrough and her mother, Marjorie K. Howard.
Joan was the technical services manager for the Norwest Regional Operations Center for Norwest Banks Montana and Wyoming. She had been with Norwest since 1971.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services.

Laura E. Rathert
EDINA, Minn. - Laura E. Rathert, 91, formerly of Wolf Point, Mont., died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at the Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.
She was born April 16, 1907, in Ely, the daughter of Hadle and Anna (Huso) Nyland. She came to the Wolf Point area with her family in 1917. She graduated from Wolf Point High School and then worked in the Roosevelt County Courthouse and was deputy treasurer at the time of her marriage to Fred Rathert on Nov. 6, 1936, in Poplar, Mont. They moved into Wolf Point in 1940. Fred died in 1963.
Laura was a kind and giving person. She was always there for her family and friends and spent much of her life caring for them. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the WELCA, and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include: three nephews, Richard and (Karen) Palmer of Minneapolis, Dr. David and (Marilyn) Palmer of Stillwater, and Dr. Scott and (Judy) Palmer of Scottsdale, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Donna Bruner of Whitefish, Mont., Stephanie Hoon of Denver, and Debbie Fisher of Portland, Ore., Bill Rathert of Wolf Point, Fred Rathert of Williston, N.D., and Chuck Rathert of Lake Dallas, Texas; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; two sons, George and Charlie Rathert; one brother, Obert Nyland; one sister, Hulda Palmer.
Visitations will be held on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Clayton Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 1998, at the First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point, with Rev. Audrey LePore of Poplar officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood cemetery. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
John David Greminos
GLENDIVE - John David Greminos, 69, formerly of Sheridan, Wyo., died Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at the Eastern Montana Veteran's Nursing Home.
Interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Dawson Memorial cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is in charge.

TRENTON, N.D. - Larry Olson, 51, formerly of Sidney, Mont., died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at Mercy Medical Center in Williston.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. CDT Thursday, June 18, at the Oakdale cemetery in Killdeer. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Church of Christ in Sidney. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Williston is in charge.
Charles 'Frank' Raver
CODY, Wyo. - Charles F. "Frank" Raver, 71, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at West Park Hospital.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 22, at Ballard Funeral Home with interment of cremated remains in Riverside cemetery, both in Cody.
David Lee Ness
BAKER - David Lee Ness, 67, formerly of Ekalaka, died Monday, June 15, 1998, at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker after a sudden illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 19, at the American Lutheran Church in Baker. Graveside rites will be at approximately 4 p.m. Friday in the Odd Fellows cemetery in Ekalaka. Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker is in charge.
James E. 'Jim' Dowling
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - James E. (Jim) Dowling, 68, lifelong resident of Sheridan County, passed away Sunday, June 14, 1998, at the Sheridan County Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Sheridan County, April 21, 1930, the son of Lawrence and Gladys (Brown) Dowling. Jim married
Mary Bocca, also of Sheridan, on May 30, 1950, at Holy Name Church.
After service with the U.S. Marine Corp, he returned to Sheridan and started work at First Interstate Bank (Bank of Commerce) on Nov. 15, 1948. He semi-retired earlier this year after a 50-year career in banking and community service. He enjoyed his many loyal customers/co-workers and for years promoted the bank's "Heritage Club" Annual Party.
Jim was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church, Sheridan Elks Club #520, the American Legion and Sheridan Jaycees in which he served as president both on the local and state level. He was recognized as Jaycee International Senator, a national honor. He served for many years as treasurer of Bill Eaton Day, the Sheridan City Planning Commission, and secretary of the Big Horn Executive Club. He worked on the political campaigns for Sens. Al Simpson and Clifford Hansen and Gov. Stan Hathaway for state and national offices.
Interests included the family's mountain cabin, fishing, hunting, family and community activities and various collecting activities.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Sheridan; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Beverly of Cheyenne; a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Cinda of Ham Lake, Minn.; a sister and brother-in-law, June and Glenn Dale Fairbank; a sister-in-law, Agnes Barbula and her husband, Frank, all of Sheridan; four grandchildren, Margaret, Elizabeth, Matthew and Michelle Dowling, all of Cheyenne; two nieces, Barb Bennick of Sheridan and Jerri Bagley of Elko, Nev.; and three nephews, Jeff Fairbank of Sheridan, Glenn Fairbank Jr. of Shanee, Kan., and Dan Fairbank of Nemah, Wash.
Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at Kane Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 1998, at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ron Stolcis officiating. Cremation and inurnment will follow at a later date.
