Mary E. Thronson
September 1, 1918 - September 25, 2016

Mary Elizabeth Kaluza Thronson, 98, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at her home in Great Falls.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Friday, September 30, 2016 with a reception immediately following. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Calvary cemetery in Havre, MT. Arrangements are in the care of O’Connor Funeral Home.
Mary E. Thronson was born September 1, 1918 to Frank and Mary Gaida Kaluza in Savoy, MT. She graduated from Harlem High School in 1936 and then moved to Great Falls where she graduated from Great Falls Business College.
Mary then went to work at Security State Bank in Harlem as a teller. It was there that she met the love of her life, Carl Thronson, who co-owned the bank with his father and brother. After several years of courtship, they were married on March 19, 1955. Carl passed away in 1965 and he was buried in Havre where Mary will be buried next to him.
After Carl died, Mary moved from Harlem to Great Falls. She worked at Norwest Bank as a teller until her retirement in 1983. During her time at Norwest, she met many of her Great Falls friends and enjoyed attending bank reunion picnics at a ranch near the Bob Marshall Wilderness for many summers.
Following her retirement, Mary volunteered for several years at the YWCA, Ulm Pishkun State park and the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Center in Great Falls.
Mary loved to bowl, and she was good at it! She spent many a happy Wednesday at Women’s League, bowling well into her 90’s at Little’s Lanes in Great Falls.
Mary was a great gardener! She was a farmer in training and at heart. She knew how to make any, and everything grow. She had a true green thumb and grew delicious tomatoes and beautiful geraniums this summer.
Mary stayed in touch with her family and friends and up to date on world events these last many years by emailing and surfing the web. She was not one to let technology pass her by!
Mary loved animals and always had a place in her home and her heart for a pet. Her beloved dogs and cats were wonderful companions to her all her life.
Mary is survived by her O’Loughlin nephews and nieces: Mary Kay (Jim) Olson of Ketchum, ID, Patty O. Murphy (Ed Flaherty) of Bloomington, MN, Mark P. O’Loughlin, Jr. of Great Falls MT, Frank O’Loughlin (Susan Stearns) of Evergreen, CO, and Carol O’Loughlin of Ketchum, ID. She is also survived by her great nephews and nieces Ryan O. Murphy (Layne Paddock), Patrick O. Murphy, Erin O. Murphy (Erica Burrell), Heather O’Loughlin (Neal Ullman), and Mark D. O’Loughlin (Melissa Darko); great-great niece Madeline O’Loughlin Ullman; and great-great nephew Finnian Patrick Murphy. Mary also has cousins in Minnesota and Havre, whom she enjoyed staying in touch with over the years.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl; sisters Pauline who died in infancy and Albina (Alvina) Marion Kaluza O’Loughlin who died in 2004 in Great Falls.
Her family was precious to her, just as she was to all of them.
Donations may be made in Mary’s memory to the Great Falls Community Food Bank, 1620 12th Avenue N, Great Falls MT 59401.

Tammy Jo Laber
April 4, 1962 - September 19, 2016

Tammy Jo Laber, 54, of Great Falls, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at Peace Hospice.
Cremation will take place in the care of O’Connor Funeral Home.

Dorothy Lumsden
February 2, 1927 - September 27, 2016

Dorothy C. Lumsden, 89, of Power, passed away Tuesday, 9/27/16 at Teton Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at a later date. O’CONNOR FUNERAL HOME

Jim Donahue
October 8, 2016

Jim Donahue, attorney, animal activist and life-long resident of Great Falls, Montana, has passed away.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at O’Connor Memorial Chapel in Great Falls, Montana, 2425 8th Avenue North. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Humane Society of Cascade County (hsccgf.org) or by mail at P.O. Box 1774, Great Falls, Montana 59403.
The son of Jim and Ida Donahue of Public Drug in Great Falls, Jim attended Great Falls High School then Stanford University where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1987. After graduating Stanford, he was a Chip Design Engineer at NCR and was awarded U.S. patents for his contributions. He earned a law degree at the University of Minnesota Law School and was Deputy County Attorney for Cascade County in Great Falls and a Justice of the Peace. Jim joined the law firm of Davis, Hatley, Haffeman & Tighe in 2001 and was a partner there practicing insurance defense, criminal defense and personal injury law.
Jim was always the “fun, cool uncle” who was passionate about muscle cars and rescuing animals, often fostering several dogs at the same time that he worked to find homes for others. He was very active in the Humane Society of Cascade County here in Great Falls and also served as its president for a number of years.
Jim is survived by his sister, Patricia, her husband Steve, Jim’s two nephews, Ryan and Jack…and the hundreds of animals that he helped rescue.

Deloris Clark
September 23, 2016

Deloris Jane (Ludeman) Clark, 84, passed away at the Peace Hospice House in Great Falls, MT, with her family by her side, on September 23, 2016.
There will be a graveside service at the Geraldine cemetery on Friday, September 30 at 2:00pm. Please join everyone for a time to fellowship right after the service at the Geraldine Senior Citizen building.
She was born in Fort Benton, Montana on September 3, 1932 to William and Mary Ludeman.
She married Thomas Henry Clark on February 18, 1950 in Great Falls, Montana. They raised 6 children, Laura Milledge, Diana (Rodger) Fultz, David (Elaine) Clark, Thomas (Gail) Clark, Russell (Brigette) Clark, and Rick (Sherri) Clark. She has sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She lived most of her life farming and ranching in the Geraldine area. After selling the ranch they bought and operated the Geraldine Hotel for many years.
After retiring and moving to Great Falls, Montana, her most favorite pastime was compiling information for her family tree.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary Ludeman; her siblings, brother Donald and sisters Clara, Betty, and Patty. She is survived by her six children, sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

David C. Muckey
October 2, 2016

David C. Muckey, 86, formerly of Gardiner, MT, passed away at home in Great Falls on Sunday, October 2, 2016 quietly with his loving wife, Gertrude, at his side.
There will be no service per his request. Donations may be sent to the Great Falls Peace Hospice, PO Box 7008, Great Falls MT 59406-7008.
Dave was born February 18, 1930 in Maplewood, MN to Marcus and Mabelle Muckey. He was raised on the family farm with four siblings.
He met and later married Gertrude Kubitz on December 14, 1950. They farmed three years on the Muckey farm before moving to Gardiner MT with their two daughters. While in Gardiner two sons were born.
Dave worked various jobs – guiding hunters, Brogan Sand and Gravel, Bateson Construction. He also built many homes in and around Park County MT. He also worked eighteen years in Yellowstone National Park as a carpenter until he retired in 1985. After retirement he worked on the family property gardening, and wood working. He also spent many hours with his family hunting and fishing.
Dave is survived by his wife Gertrude “Gertie”; sister Dorothy Gensrich of Lewistown; daughter Siddona (Tom) Laughlin of Anaconda and their children Bart of Stevensville and Lindsay of Kalispell; sons John (Sandy) of Great Falls, Mark (Sandy) of Missoula and her two sons and their wives and children; John’s honorary daughter Jamie (John) and son Tyler Nygard of Great Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews and favorite niece Esther Matthews all of MN.
He was preceded in death by beloved daughter and son-in-law Helen and Doug Brook; parents Marcus and Mabelle; brothers Melvin and Bill; and sister Meena Sharon.

Douglas Duane Taylor

BABB -- Funeral services for Douglas Duane Taylor, 72, of Babb, who died Monday, December 10, 2001 at a Cut Bank nursing home of complications from a stroke, are 11 this morning at Babb Methodist Church, followed by burial in Powell Famly cemetery. Day Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Vivian Anderson

WOLF POINT -- Vivian (Siljenberg) Anderson, 86, who worked for Clayton Memorial Chapel for 40 years, died Thursday, November 22, 2001, at a Wolf Point hospital.
Visitation is noon to 5 p.m. today at Clayton Memorial Chapel. Her funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at Clayton Memorial Chapel, followed by cremation.
Survivors include a sister, Delores Porter of Bellingham, Wash.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mary M. Jorgensen

Mary M. (Kuntz) Jorgensen, 83, of 1725 6th St. N.W., a homemaker, died of an apparent heart attack Tuesday at a local hospital.
At her request, no services are planned. Cremation and inurnment will take place at Hillcrest Lawn Mausoleum. Schnider Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Wilkes of Great Falls; a son, Kenneth Jorgensen of Great Falls; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband, L. Kenneth Jorgensen, died in 1990.
Additional survivors include a daughter-in-law, Julie Ann Jorgensen. Her grandsons and their wives are Terry and Deena Wilkes, Brad and Lisa Wilkes, Kenny and Tonya Jorgensen and Korey and Julie Marie Jorgensen.
She was born July 2, 1918, in Great Falls, and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1936.
She married L. Kenneth Jorgensen on July 3, 1937, in Great Falls.
A homemaker, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mary enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren -- her family was very important to her. She loved to play games of all kinds, especially bingo with her friends at the Senior Center and, most recently, the Moose Club. She also enjoyed playing games on her computer.
She was an avid TV fan, loved the older TV shows, and especially loved the old westerns. A feisty German, she enjoyed life!
She was also preceded in death by sisters Jennie Keller, Elenore Hendricks and Katherine Goo; a brother, George Kuntz; and her parents, Gabriel and Margaret Kuntz.
Memorials are suggested to Peace Hospice or the Senior Citizens Center.

Betty Jean Gee

LEWISTOWN -- Betty Jean (Jaeger) Gee, 73, a Lewistown native and homemaker, died Tuesday at a Lewistown hospital.
Her funeral is 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Cloyd Funeral Chapel, with burial in Lewistown City cemetery.
Survivors include sons Jeff Gee of Missoula, John Gee of Lewistown and Joe Gee of Salt Lake City; daughters Jan McGimpsey and Jeanette Rector of Lewistown; a brother, Al Jaeger of Lewistown; a sister, Pauline Strickland of Lewistown; 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. Gee, in 1992; a daughter, Brenda; and a son, James.

Christie Marie Hammerschmidt

CUT BANK -- Christie Marie (Anderson) Hammerschmidt, 53, a homemaker, died of cancer Monday at a Cut Bank hospital.
A vigil service is 7 p.m. Friday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Margaret's, with burial in Crown Hill cemetery. Day Family Funeral Home of Cut Bank is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Virgil Hammerschmidt of Cut Bank; and brothers Vernon Anderson of Shelby, Robert Anderson of Seattle, Joseph Anderson of Helena, and John Nanini of Cut Bank.

Mary Gardner

OXNARD, Calif. -- Former Great Falls resident Mary (Fritz) Gardner, 68, of Oxnard, Calif., who spent most of her youth in Great Falls, died Oct. 9 at a hospital in Oxnard after a brief illness.
Services took place in California.
Survivors include her husband, Delbert Gardner of Oxnard; sons Bruce Gardner of Ventura, Calif., Frederick Gardner of Oxnard and Andrew Gardner of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a daughter, Kathy Loretero of Oxnard; sisters Eleanor Lester, Frances Hendrickson, Rose Fritz and Cathie Brady; and six grandchildren.
