Geraldine Hock
Former Troy resident Geraldine Hock, 69, of Trout Creek, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Plains.
She was born on Jan. 25, 1935, at Whitefish, where she grew up and attended school.
She married
Gerdis Hock on July 9, 1952, at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and they lived in Troy.
Geraldine enjoyed crocheting, sewing and ceramics.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerdis, sons Gerdis Hock Jr., Warren Hock and Harold Hock; daughter Evelyn Jellesed, brother Sid James and daughter-in-law Sharon Hock.
Survivors include son Ed Hock, Troy; daughter Trina Austin and her husband Steve, Trout Creek, and a number of grandchildren.
Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the Milnor Lake cemetery.
Local arrangements are by the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
William Little
William W. Little, 68, of Libby, died after suffering a brain hemorrhage on the night of Nov. 30, 2003.
He was born on July 1, 1935, at Wheeler to James and Reeva Wheeler Little.
He married
Ethel Snider in January 1956 and raised his two children in various locations throughout the state.
Bill had worked as a taxicab driver, millwright, carpenter and welder before beginning his last career as a cobbler in Wenatchee, Wash.
After suffering a serious illness in 2000, Bill retired and returned to Libby in May 2003, to be close to his children.
His family and friends will miss him dearly.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother Peter Little.
Survivors include his son Bruce Little and his wife Yvonne, Libby; daughter Rita Orr and her husband Scott, also of Libby; sister Becky Thoeny and her husband Adrian, Newman Lake, Wash.., and their children Chauncy, David, Elizabeth and Faye; grandchildren Mark Little, Laurel; Matthew Orr, Portland, Ore.; Jenni O’Malley, Helena; Aimee Little, Missoula; nephew Jed Little and his wife Earline, Waterloo, Ore.; great-grandchild Teague O’Malley and special people including Ethel Little, Libby, the mother of his children, and all his friends in Wenatchee.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
Ruby Norris
Ruby W. Norris, 91, died on Nov. 25, 2003, at the Libby Care Center.
She was born on April 19, 1912, at Malta, to Charles and Lydia Hansberry.
Ruby married
Claude Norris at Libby in 1928. Their 67-year marriage ended with Claude’s death in 1995.
Ruby was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
After retiring from ranching she volunteered at the Libby Care Center until she became a resident there.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Thelma Jean Domitrovich.
Survivors include her daughters Joyce Norris, Libby; and Ellen Bloomgren and her husband Blaine, Missoula; son-in-law Robert Domitrovich, Spokane; sisters Lottie Barton and Myrtle Clark, both of Libby, and Verna Whitney, Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the Libby Christian Church, followed by interment at the City of Libby cemetery.
A luncheon followed at the church.
Memorials may be made to the special projects at the Libby Care Center or to the Libby Christian Church.
Local arrangements were under care of the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
Pearl Bangeman
Former Libby resident Pearl Thoreson Bangeman. 97, died on March 22, 2005 at Brendan House in Kalispell.
She was born on Aug, 31, 1907, at Rosewood, Minn., to Peter and Caroline Lappegard Mellem.
She married
Thomas Thoreson on Dec. 9, 1925 at Thief River Falls, Minn., and they had two children, Arloene and Thomas Jr.
Her husband Thomas died in 1981 and in 1984 Pearl married
Dan Bangeman, a longtime family friend. Dan died in May 1997.
Pearl was a member of Christ Lutheran Church at Libby for more than 50 years and after moving to Kalispell was associated with Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
She was a charter member of the Sons of Norway at Libby and was happiest in her kitchen preparing food for her family.
She was well loved and will be deeply missed. "The love of a mother lasts forever."
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister.
Survivors include daughter Arloene Christianson and her husband Chick, and son Thomas Thoreson and his wife JoAnn, all of Kalispell; stepchildren Danny Bangeman, Lakeside and Barbara Haglund, Spokane; four grandchildren, Linda Mauck, Carmel, Calif.; Don Thoreson, Billings, Shari Basham and Lori Barrows, both of Libby; sisters Joyce Nielson, Libby and Florence Moore of Missoula, and brother Alvin Mellem, Palm Springs, Calif, three step-grandchildren, Terri, Wiebenga, Peg Weston and Debbi Gahard, all in Iowa; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date in Libby.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Bob Dennis
Robert 'Bob' Eugene Dennis, 66, of Rapid City, S.D., died Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Bob was born May 15, 1939, in Vona, Colo., to Albert and Myrtle (White) Dennis, the youngest of 10 children.
He joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1956 and was honorably discharged May 6, 1960.
Bob is survived by his wife Goldye (Bessette) Dennis, Rapid City; four daughters, Cheryl Ann Staley, Aransas Pass, Texas; Cindy Mae Buckner, Broadus; Robyn Renee Dennis, Libby; Tracey Dennis, Libby; a son, Keith Dennis, Texas; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley, and husband Ralph Poe, Helena; a brother, Doug, and wife Becky Rusher, Helena; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Eugene Dennis Jr.; a brother, John Dennis, in 2004; and his parents.
Military graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, at Black Hills National cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Sturgis, S.D., Honor Guard.

Jack Hett
Kenneth "Jack" Hett, 83, a retired Presbyterian minister, died April 16, 2006, at Bull Lake.
Jack was born to Norman and Elva Hett on March 5, 1923, in Marion, Kan.
He was married
to Dolores Kathryn Joy at the Troy Methodist Church on Dec. 4, 1953.
Jack was an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church U.S. A. and served churches in Oregon, Indiana, Wyoming and Montana throughout his life.
He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America from 1936 until the day he died. He was an Eagle Scout and initiated or participated in scout troops in every location where he lived. He was awarded the Silver Beaver for life-long commitment to Scouting on Feb. 10, 1990, by the Central Wyoming Council.
At age 58 he trained to become a member of the EMT squad in Shoshone, Wyo., and remained active with the squad in Troy.
In retirement, Jack loved to play Santa at the Holly Pines Christmas Tree Farm in Bryant, Ind., every Christmas season while visiting his family in Ohio. Wherever he went, even without his costume, he was often approached with the question, "Are you Santa?" which never failed to delight him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores.
He is survived by his daughters, Dorothy Hintz and her husband, Jeff, of Troy, and Toni Hett Fennig and her husband, Randy, of Springfield, Ohio, and his three grandchildren, Jesse Lee Fennig, Kathryn Marie Fennig and David Mitchell Fennig; and his adopted daughter of Tokyo, Japan, Kiyoko Naito Obana and her husband, Eijchi, and their three children: Tiaga, Ila and Kachita.
He is also survived by his brother Irvin Hett of Oak Harbor, Wash., and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 7, at 3 p.m. at Troy Methodist Church. A reception will follow at the Troy Senior Citizens Center.
Both Jack and Dolores were deeply committed to missions work. Memorials may be given to the Jack and Dolores Hett Memorial Missions Fund, c/o Prince of Peace United Brethren Church, 2701 Middle Urbana Road, Springfield, OH 45502.

William Cole
William J. Cole, 66, of Spokane, Wash., died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at Deaconess Medical Center from natural causes.
He was born Oct. 8, 1939, in Libby, to Ellis and Helen Grambauer Cole.
Bill grew up in Libby and graduated from Libby High School in 1957. He then went to work for C&H; Market in Libby.
Bill married
Mary Lee Little on Dec. 29, 1957, at the Assembly of God Church in Libby. In 1965 they moved to Kalispell, and in 1967 they moved to Alaska, where they lived until 1998.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodcarving, rock hounding and bird watching. He was a member of the Arizona Predator Calling Club, National Rifle Association, Arizona State Wood Carvers Association, Arizona State Board of Realtors and First Assembly of God in Apache Junction, Ariz.
Survivors include his wife of Spokane; three sons, William Cole and wife Laura and Shawn Cole and wife Darci, all of Spokane, and Gary Cole and wife Lanita of Vancouver, Wash.; brother Robert Cole and wife Kari of Kalispell; sister Betty Burnett and husband Gary of Cochran Alberta; 10 grandchildren, Brittney Salter and husband Chad, and Brian, Alexandra, Michelle, Rusty, Mary Beth, Ayden, Anders, Alden and Ayln Cole; and a great-grandchild, Caden Salter.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Assembly of God Church in Libby. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29.

David Bartel
David Bartel, 58, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a rare brain wasting disease.
David was born Jan. 3, 1948, in Polson to Albert and Elizabeth Bartel.
He attended Libby High School, where he played baseball.
David in the early 1970s moved to Spokane, Wash., and then to the Santa Cruz Mountains via Hawaii, where he owned a pedicab business. He later worked for AB Welding in Ben Lomond, Calif. While living in San Lorenzo Valley, David worked for Lompico Water District.
He was a volunteer with Zayante Fire Department and a member of Valley Women's Club. David also was a volunteer with Valley Churches United in Ben Lomond.
David enjoyed fishing whether it was for trout in Granite Lake or salmon in Monterey Bay, and skiing, especially at Turner Mountain. He also liked the San Francisco 49ers and NASCAR.
Friends have described David as hard working, and a can-do guy with a warm and positive personality.
He is survived by his father and a brother, Steve.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Alcine Lien
Alcine Lien, 80, a longtime Troy resident, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at Henderson, Nev.
She was born July 15, 1926, in Emigrant to Carl and Hazel Laffoon. The family lived at Livingston before coming to Troy when Alcine was 10 years old.
Alcine was baptized in 1939 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
She attended grade school in Troy and later attended high school at Walla Walla, Wash.
She married
Eugene A. "Gene" Lien in 1945 in Richland, Wash., returning to Troy shortly thereafter where she lived for the past 60 years.
Alcine was an active member of Kootenai Senior Citizens Center in Troy.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1987.
She is survived by her children, Cheri Osterberg of Henderson, Nev., and Darryl Lien of Troy; a sister, Arlene Vial of Spokane, Wash.; her grandchildren, Tina Westlund, Jonna Sansom and Griffin Lien; her great-grandchildren Adam, Tony and Alexandria Westlund and Jade Sansom; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Troy Christian Fellowship. Interment services will follow at Milnor Lake cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church.
