Marion Winifred Rogstad
Marion Winifred "Wini" Rogstad, age 82, of Miles City passed away on Sunday, July 04, 2004 at the Holy Rosary Health Care in Miles City.
Winifred was born on the family farm in Kandiyohi, Minnesota on January 6, 1922, the daughter of William and Glee (McClurg) Block Sr. She attended schools in Kandiyohi and graduated from high school in Willmar, Minnesota. Following high school, she attended St. Cloud State Teachers College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught country school in Minnesota, and then moved to Forest Grove, Oregon during World War II where she met Mel Rogstad. Following their marriage in Kandiyohi, they moved to Billings where Mel began his career in optometry. Mel purchased his first optometry practice in Baker in 1952, which he ran for over fifteen years. He moved his practice to Miles City in 1968, where they made their home. While in Baker, Winifred was a substitute teacher and she continued to substitute teach when they moved to Miles City and do Baby Time Calls for Welcome Wagon.
Winifred loved to play bridge and any other card games. She was an avid golfer, bowler, and most of all loved to follow local sports and her favorite teams. Winifred was a member of First Lutheran Church and Stewardship Circle, Miles City Town & Country Club, Gideons Auxiliary, Eastern Star, and P.E.O. Chapter AQ.
Winifred is survived by a son, Mark Rogstad of Miles City, MT; two daughters: Marlys Taylor and her husband Dallas of Rock Springs, MT; and Mary Lynn Gligorea and her husband Thomas of Sheridan, WY; a sister, Alice Nelson and her husband Daniel of Spicer, MN; four grandchildren: Jeffrey Oberlander, Jason Oberlander and his wife Marcia, Tasha Rae Taylor, and David A. Gligorea; and a very special friend, Marge Ek. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mel; a grandson, Thomas G. Gligorea; and four brothers: William Jr., Robert, George, and John.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Miles City. Interment will be held at the Custer County cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Vivian A. Jelinek
Vivian A. Jelinek, age 98, of Mercer Island, Washington formerly of Miles City, Montana passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the Mission Healthcare at Bellevue, Washington.

Mrs. Jelinek was born March 24, 1906, at Clinton, Iowa, the middle child and daughter of Herman J. and Florence E. Holdgrafer. As a child in 1914, she moved with her parents, by train, to Miles City, and then on to Epsie, where they homesteaded and she went to grade school. In 1920 the family moved to Miles City where she graduated from Custer County High School in 1924. After high school she was employed at the First National Bank in Miles City. On August 1, 1928, she married Paul F. Jelinek in Miles City were they resided together for sixty-nine years. Mr. Jelinek died November 7, 1997. In 1998 she moved to Mercer Island to be closer to her children. She was a homemaker and in 1950 she began working at the Custer County Courthouse where she was a deputy county clerk and recorder from 1955 until her retirement in 1971. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church while residing in Miles City. She was also a member of St. Ann’s Circle and did volunteer work at the Holy Rosary Hospital.

Mrs. Jelinek was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Jay Paul Jelinek in 2001, her grandson, Paul Robert (Rob) Reid in 1999, and her brother, Vincent Holdgrafer and sister Pat Oines. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Reid of Nashville, TN; her son, Bruce Jelinek of Kirkland, WA; her daughter-in-law, Miriam Jelinek of Mercer Island, WA; six grandchildren: J. Paul Jelinek, Jr. and wife Lisa of Medina, WA; Lorrie Jelinek of Bainbridge Island, WA; Rene Lester and husband Jimmy of Luverne, AL; Randy Reid and wife Lori of Brentwood, TN; Jane Harrison and her husband Jimmy of Mercer Island, WA; Carol Keyes and her husband Don Riddell of Bainbridge Island, WA; and ten great grandchildren: Jack Jelinek, Laura Lynn and Maggie Lester, Thomas and Elizabeth Reid, Jack and Annie Harrison, Devereux Keyes, and Ruby and Mary Grace Riddell. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held Sunday at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. A Vigil service will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 18, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Rite of Committal will follow in the family lot of the Calvary cemetery.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Holy Rosary Extended Care, 2600 Wilson, Miles City, MT 59301 or to the charity of ones choice.

Elaine Rae Forman
Elaine Rae Forman, age 74, of Miles City passed away on Friday, October 1, 2004 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.
Elaine was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota on January 3, 1930, the daughter of Arthur and Sarah Jane (LaRue) Linendoll. She attended schools in Devils Lake, North Dakota then moved to San Diego for a short time before returning to Devils Lake where she graduated from high school in 1947. Elaine met and later married Ralph Forman on June 17, 1951, in Miles City, Montana. They made their home in Miles City where Elaine and Ralph operated the Miles City Dairy for over 20 years. After retiring, they enjoyed spending many winters in Arizona.
Elaine loved crocheting, making Christmas goodies, and babysitting her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family.
Elaine is survived by her husband Ralph Forman of Miles City, MT; three sons: Mark Forman and his wife Lavonne of Knowlton, MT; Jim Forman and his wife Marilynn of Miles City, MT; and Jerry Forman and his wife Elaine of Miles City, MT; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Betty Riffe and Janet Sullivan.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm at the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow at a later date.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 550 North 31st Street, Billings, MT 59101.

Alice Virginia Morris
At her request, cremation has taken place and no local services are planned.
Alice Virginia Morris, age 90, of Forsyth formerly of New Boston, Ohio passed away on Monday, October 24, 2005 at the Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth.
Alice was born the daughter of James and Vada (Price) Pendleton on August 13, 1915 in Paintsville, Kentucky. She moved with the family to Portsmith, Ohio at the age of nine.
Following her education in New Boston she married Everett Morris on December 24, 1936. Together they made their home in New Boston where they raised their children. Alice resided there until moving to Forsyth to be closer to her son, in 2001. Alice worked for several years as a clerk/typist for Scioto County Public Health, retiring in 1977, moving to Forsyth in 2001 to be near her son.
Following her retirement, she did extensive volunteer work for the Scioto Hospital. Alice loved taking walks, loved cats, as well as her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved church and attended the Wesleyan Church in Forsyth as much as possible. She was also a member of the New Boston Methodist Church in Ohio for years.
Alice is survived by her two sons, Everett (Eb) and Margaret Morris of Forsyth, Montana and John Morris along with his special friend Janet of Victor, Idaho. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Web Pendleton; and two sisters, Martha and Georgie.

Lucille White Hawk
Lucille White Hawk, age 61, of Lame Deer passed away peacefully at her home in Lame Deer with her family by her side on Friday, January 28, 2005.
Lucille was born on October 9, 1943, in Ashland the daughter of Clarence Tallwhiteman and Martha (Harstad) Crawling. She started her schooling at Rosebud, continued it in Lame Deer and finished it at the Busby Boarding School. Following her education, Lucille was united in marriage to John White Hawk Jr. in March of 1960. Together, John and Lucille made their home in Lame Deer where they raised their children as well as other children which became family to them.
Lucille was active in the Northern Cheyenne Head start program working as a teacher and a teacher’s aide. Lucille enjoyed doing bead work, sewing, long drives in the country, hunting and fishing with family, picnics, cooking traditional foods, cutting dry meat, as well as playing bingo. She especially loved and enjoyed raising children which included her own as well as her special grandson Rusty.
Lucille is survived by her sons, Jerome White Hawk and his wife Mariah, John White Hawk III and his wife Faith, Bryce Killsontop and his wife Betty and Michael Wolfe Jr.; one daughter Cleo Cryar; her grandchildren, Toni James (Waylon), Hannah James (Sonny), Hunter James, Christian James, Jesse James, Rusty James, C.J. Cryar, Jeremiah Cryar, Shandyn, Aspen, Peyton, Gage and Johnae White Hawk. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Ariel Spang, Sonny Crazy Mule Jr., Ashanti Crazy Mule, Ezekial Killsontop, Bryce Killsontop Jr., and Aryas Killsontop, as well as her dog Rocko.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Martha, one son Clarence White Hawk, one daughter Mavis White Hawk one brother Carl Ray Tallwhiteman and an infant sister.
A special thanks to the Crow and Billings Dialysis units, Lanette Perkins, RN, the doctors and nurses of the Deaconess Hospital, Lame Deer Board of Health and the Lame Deer Public Health Nursing.

Robert Heinle
Robert Richard Heinle, age 72 of Rosebud passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the St. Vincent Medical Center in Billings.
Robert was born on July 31, 1932 in Bert, ND the son of Oscar and Mathilda (Siewert) Heinle. As a young child, Robert moved with his family to Shepherd, MT where he grew up and attended school. Following graduation, Robert returned to the family farm and continued to farm with his parents. On February 12, 1961, Robert was united in marriage to Arlo Scheid. Together, they farmed, made their home and raised three children in Shepherd until 1973 when they moved to their farm in Hathaway. In May of 2001, Arlo passed away. Robert later married Harriet Morton Sleaford on May 11, 2002. Robert was actively farming and ranching with his son until the time of his death.
He enjoyed playing pinochle, dancing, reading, raising corn and buying cattle. Robert especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. He was kind hearted, honest, and respected by all that knew him.
While living in Shepherd, Robert served on the Shepherd school board and after moving to Hathaway, he served on the Rosebud County SCS board for many years and was later on the associate board.
Robert is survived by his wife, Harriet Heinle of Rosebud; two sons Ken Heinle (Mandi) of Hathaway, Bobby J. Heinle (Lisa) of Frenchtown, MT.; one daughter, Sharon Lynn Heinle and husband Chris DeLashmutt of Falls Church, VA; three grandchildren Kassidi and Kadie Heinle of Hathaway and Jeff Wood of Henderson, NV, his step children Dean Sleaford (Misty) of Rosebud, Alan Sleaford (Michelle) of Shepherd, Glenda McPherson (Duane) of Colstrip, Tana Haley (Jazz) of Ashland, MT; his step grandchildren Tell, Bev, Chris, Casey, Alicia, Ryan, Malorie, Kyle, Chevelle and Shelby. He is also survived by his brothers Edmond Heinle (Mavis) of Miles City, Eugene Heinle (Lynn) of Eugene, OR, his sisters Anna Anderson, Leona Keidel (Walter) all of Mandan, ND, Martha Jewel (Ed) of Libby, MT, and Agnes Foster (Norman) of Salem, OR, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Arlo and his parents.
Memorials may be made to the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, 500 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081.

Gilbert "Gil" E. Weight
Gilbert E. Weight, a thirty year resident of the Rosebud area, died June 5, 2005, at the age of 68.
After graduating from the Oaks, North Dakota high school in 1955, Gil enlisted in the U.S. Army and served eighteen months in Korea. Following his discharge from the service, he attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, worked in Minneapolis, MN and then moved to Livingston, MT where he met his wife of forty-three years, Emma Jean (E.J.) Bickle. For several years he worked in the automotive industry until purchasing the family farm in 1975 and moving to the Thurlow area. There he raised sheep, cattle and feed and one son, Craig Weight of Forsyth, MT.
Gil is survived by his wife, son, daughter-in-law Michelle (Adams) Weight and three grandsons, Chance, Cody and Cordell. Surviving siblings include one brother Leon of North Dakota and three sisters living in Minnesota, Leona Hall, Otellia (Toodie) Weight and Edna Yentsch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Erma, brother Donald and sisters Jeannie and Nora.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League or the charity of one’s choice.

Jay Hoppe
Jay E. Hoppe, age 72, of Miles City, Montana, departed this life at his home surrounded by his loving family on September 6, 2005.
Jay was born to Harold "Smokey" and Alice "Berniece" (Snider) Hoppe on November 15, 1932 in Buffalo, Wyoming. Jay attended school in Ryegate, Montana. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in which he honorably served for four years. On January 10, 1975, Jay and Carolyn Newcomer were united in marriage in Norton, Kansas. They would go on to enjoy thirty plus years of marriage. The family moved to Miles City in the fall of 1981 where they have made their home ever since.
Jay worked for Mtn. Bell, US West, and QWest, before retiring in 1994. He then went back to work in 1997 until 1999 for CenturyTel. Jay loved life and was a hard worker, but most of all; he loved spending time with his family and friends. Jay knew no stranger and he genuinely enjoyed people.
Jay is survived by his wife Carolyn Hoppe of Miles City, MT, his children; Sheryl Dunn of Montana, Michael (Cathy) Hoppe of Virginia, Lori (Wayne) Augustine of Kansas, Kyle (Kim) Hoppe of Kansas, Jerry (Kay) Hoppe of Kansas, Lyle Hoppe of Montana, and Aaron Hoppe of Montana. He was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Miles City. Interment will be held at a later date at the Livingston cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Hoppe family and will be applied appropriately as per Jay's wishes. They may be sent to Rt. 1 Box 2060, Miles City, MT 59301.

Jacob Ross Young Hawk
Jacob Ross Young Hawk, infant son of April Carter and Phillip Young Hawk, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 due to injuries received in a one vehicle rollover near Wakpala, SD.
Jacob Ross Young Hawk was born on September 27, 2002 in Mobridge, SD. the son of Phillip Young Hawk and April Carter. He lived in Ashland, MT, Wellington, Kansas and in Wakpala, SD.
Jacob is survived by his parents and one brother Cody Young Hawk all of Wakpala, SD; grandparents, Rolland Thunder Shield of Little Eagle, Bernadette Hill of Minneapolis, MN, Ronald and Stella Carter of Ashland, MT; numerous aunts, uncles and grandparents.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Ross Carter; grandparents, Faye Nelson Young Hawk; grandfathers, Freemont Tiger and Fred Hill.
There will be an all night wake service starting at 7:00PM on Saturday at St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Wakpala, SD. under the direction of Oster Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD.
A second wake service will be held on Monday, September 27th, 2004, at the St. Labre Catholic Church in Ashland, MT.
Funeral services for Jacob Young Hawk will be at 10:30AM on Tuesday, September 28th, 2004 at the St. Labre Catholic Church in Ashland, MT. Pastor William Carter will be officiating. Burial will be at the Young Hawks Resting Place in Ashland, MT.

Donald Austin
Donald Gene Austin, age 53, of Miles City, MT passed away at the St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings, MT on February 9, 2006.
Donald was born on May 25, 1952 in Langdon, North Dakota to John and Lois Austin. He grew up in Langdon, where he went to school and graduated from High School in Langdon. Donald went to work on grain elevators and moved to Miles City in 1989 where he has worked for Beacon Carter, Peavey, and Tire-Rama. He and Lucyanna "Lanny" Peterson were married on November 3, 1988 and made their home in Miles City where they have lived since.
Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle and tinkering with his cars. Most of all, he loved and enjoyed his grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his wife Lanny Austin of Miles City, his children; Justin Peterson, Shane Austin, Alysia (Justin) Fladland, Catherine Austin, Stacia Peterson, Terra Evans all of Miles City and Kirsty Kreuger of Minnesota, his sister Catherine Austin and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lois Austin.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2006 11:00 am at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Beatrice Beaverheart
Hap´p´e "Helping Woman"
Beatrice Beaverheart, Hap´p´e, “Helping Woman” age 55, of Ashland, MT passed away after a twelve year battle with lupus and Scleroderma.
Beatrice was born on November 27, 1949 the daughter of Roberta Tangledyellowhair and Frank Beaverheart in Crow Agency. She attended St. Labre Catholic School and later she would receive her GED. Beatrice worked doing clerical work, was a motel supervisor and employed by Cheyenne design. Beatrice was an expert seamstress, specializing in Native American dancing costumes and bead work. She enjoyed trips to Seattle to see her grandchildren, pow wows, speaking her native language and spending time with family and friends.
Beatrice is survived by her daughters, Regine Lynn Warner, of Seattle, Michelle of Alaska, Marsha of Alaska, Ivene Hart of Texas, her son Marvin "Sonny" Jr. of California, Brothers; Martin & Marcella Hart Sr. of Ashland, MT, Clifford Crazy Mule of Warm Springs, Eugene & Thelma Hart of Busby, grandchildren Joanna Hart, Krystal, Joshua, Teri Lynn, Josie, Draven, Tryan Hart, Austin III, Reann, Dustin, Two Moons, Jason, Loren, Betty, Alden Two Moons, her nephews Martin Jr., Frank, Gabriel, Deshawn Hart, Bill, Austin Jr. Two Moons, Orville, Benny Speelman, Jimmy Selage, her nieces Roberta, Jamie, Ricki, Neveah Hart, Myra Woodenthigh, Aunt Eva Small, Uncle Joe Fox and her little dog Elnino, and special friend Jay Little Wolf. She is also survived by her special friends Rose Eagle Feathers, Lena Gray, Evelyn Standing Elk, Geraldine Fisher, Rosella Pongha, Ladonna Eagle, Donna Rodiguez, Leslie Fisher, Delores Yellow Eyes, Averlos Two Moons, Marcella Crazymule, Amanda Dillard, Leonoard and Linda Little Wolf. Also surviving Beatrice are Margie Shoulderblade and family, Raymond Hart Sr. and Family, Roger Hart, Gloria Waters and Family, Theda Foote, Clara Harris, Annie Bement, Spotted Elk, White Dirt, Little Bird, Little Whirlwind, Little Wolf, Red Neck and Walks Last., She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Roberta and Frank Hart, Grandparents, Charles Beaverheart, Alice Rose Rowland Beaverheart Gene and Georgia Little Whirl Wind Tangledyellowhair, brothers, David Hart, Donald Hart, sisters Hilda Two Moons, and Edna Hart and Brothers Richard Hart, Clarence Hart.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Valley Health Care Center for doing a good job in Beatrice’s last days. Thank you to the Morning Star Circle of Women, Dr. Knotsman. We would like to thank Father Emment and the staff at the Heritage Living Center, and a special thank you to Dr. Lenoral Bauer for all the services he gave to Bea through the years.
A Wake will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2005 with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at the St.Labre Church in Ashland. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 4, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Labre Church in Ashland, MT. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Labre cemetery.
