Ida Dickman
Ida Dickman, age 87, of Miles City passed away on Monday, January 12, 2004 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.
Ida was born in Badger, Minnesota on March 21, 1916, the daughter of Pete and Hilda (Gunderson) Johnson. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Flaxville, Montana where she grew up and graduated. Ida met and later married Jerome Dickman on February 15, 1936. To this holy union and love was born their only child, Beverly A Lund. Later they moved to Miles City, Montana where Jerome and Ida became members of the Sacred Heart Church. She spent her life as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Ida was always known to have a beautiful smile and a warm heart for all her family and friends. She had a love for life that could be felt by all who knew her. All of us who loved her will always remember her for her humor and her sharp tongue.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents Pete and Hilda, her seven siblings, her husband Jerome in 1997, and her daughter Beverly in 1993. She is survived by her granddaughters: Katherine (Jim) Lacy of Abilene, TX; Connie Collings of Seattle, WA; Valerie (Jeff) Davis of Casper, WY and Peggy Mayland of Wyoming; seven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren, five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Locally she is survived by her special nephew Richard Wiley of Ballantine, MT and a niece Lorrie Castellano of Billings, MT.
A Vigil Service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Rite of Committal will follow in the family lot of the Custer County cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, TX 75219.

Kent Sandefer
Kent Harrison Sandefer, age 58, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010, in Tucson, Arizona.
Kent is survived by his wife, Cheryl Elliott Sandefer; his parents, Kenneth and Mary Sandefer; sister, Kathy Walker; and his sons, Robert Michael Sandefer and Steven James Sandefer. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Orin and Lenora Harrison and Wesley and Lula Sandefer.
Kent, born in Miles City on November 2, 1952, was the sole son of Kenneth and Mary Sandefer. He attended Kircher Elementary School and Custer County District High School. On September 9, 1972, Cheryl Elliott and he married . From Montana State University he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics then a Master's degree in Statistics. At Miles Community College in Miles City; Mohave Community College in Lake Havasu City, Arizona; and then Tucson, Arizona, he shared his knowledge and passion for mathematics, computers, and chemistry with hundreds of students. In between classes, he spent time with family, drove his motorcycle, and went hiking.
The funeral service, at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home, will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 16, 2010.
Those desiring may make memorials to any charity of their choice.

John Barnard "Barney" Murnion
John Barnard 'Barney' Murnion, age 93, of Jordan passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Garfield County Nursing Home in Jordan.
Barnard was born on October 8, 1917, the eldest son of seven children born to Alma (Howe) and John Joe Murnion. He was the first of a long line of Murnions born in the United States. Barney graduated from Garfield County High School in 1935. Barnard worked with his father until he married Loriene Buffington on October 6, 1943. For the first year of marriage their 'home' was a sheep wagon. They then moved to Vail Creek where their six children were born. One daughter Kay Rene (Jim) Whiteside, five sons: John (Pat), Willie (Linda), Terry (Deanna), Pat (Cathy) and Rex (Lori).
Barney enjoyed visiting and had a wonderful memory for historical facts and remembered the name of everyone he met. The door was always open and the coffee pot on. He was generous to anyone in need, be it his time, help or a piece of iron for repairs.
He is survived by one brother Phillip (Cynthia) Murnion, one sister Kathline (Tom) Fowler. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Clarke, James and Coleman; one sister Mary Johnson; two grandsons: Luke Murnion and Kent Whiteside and a great grandson Trent Schreiber. He is survived by his wife and children; twenty one grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Jordan. A Rosary and Vigil service will be held on Sunday, December 12th at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Jordan. Rite of Committal will be held in the family lot of the Pioneer cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Garfield County Ambulance Service.

Ella Walkslast Tallbull
Ella Helen Walkslast Tallbull ( Heove'e - Yellow Woman), Born January 5th 1935, Journeyed to be with her Heavenly Father on December 5th 2010 at the St. Vincent's Hospital, Surrounded by her Loving family and friends.
Ella was born to Frank Walkslast and Eva Julia Spotted Wolf, She grew up in the Ashland area and eventually moved to Lame Deer where she currently resided, she was married twice in her life, her first marriage was to Robert Brien Sr, and in this union she was blessed with 6 children, She then went on to marry Charles Tallbull Sr. and to this union she was blessed with 4 children. She worked for the St. Labre Cafeteria where she always shared her fond memories of working there, in her later years Ella was a homemaker, creating a warm and comfortable home for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, if needed she was always there for them.
Ella Enjoyed reading her bible and sharing what she learned to others, driving around and visiting with friends and family, camping at pow-wows, listening to her music, going to revivals, she was a dedicated basketball fan when her grandchildren played, she liked traveling with her son Charles, she also liked going to see her children who didn't live in Lame Deer.
She was a caring woman who put the needs of her family and friends before her own even as her health started to deteriorate, she took care of many people, her home was always open to those who needed the shelter, Ella was a foster parent for many years, she was known to many simply as 'Grandma Ella, when someone needed help or 'a ride' she was always willing to help.
Ella is proceeded into death by her parents, Brother Owen and Sister Ruby Walkslast, her husband Charles Tallbull Sr, her sons Ronald and Philip Brien and Charles Tallbull Jr., Granddaughter Latisha Joy Brien, and Great Granddaughter Cadie Elaine Morris
She is survived by her children, Robert Brien Jr (Georgia), Lucille White hip (Ryder), Martha Emigh-Lamier (Steve), Matthew Emigh, Charlotte White Crane (Winslow), Zipporah Tallbull, and Rebekah Perkins (Kevin), Special niece and nephew Gary and Mari Walkslast, adopted daughters- Louella Firecrow, Rebecca Spieser, Brenda Pretty Weasel, Maggie Walksnice, . adopted sons- Alonzo Walker, Harlan Tallbull, Clinton Birdhat, Isadore Whitewolf, Joseph Whitewolf Jr, Walter Blackwolf, from Ella's children she was blessed and loved all 38 grandchildren and 53 Great-Grandchildren. when her grandchildren needed her for anything, shelter, words of wisdom or just to be there for them, she was there.
Frank Tallbull, Kenneth 'Buddy' Brien, Casin Whitewolf, Tyrin Killsnight and Randall Killsnight grandsons whom Ella helped raise as her own.
Ella was very proud and close to her first great-granddaughter Stephfawn Jade Tallbull who also has her cheyenne name, Heove'e
The family would like to thank Grace Kim and the staff at Dialysis Clinic inc, the staff at the St. Vincent Hospital and the staff at the Aspen Meadows Nursing Home.

Glendora McCraw
Glendora McCraw, age 82, of Circle, MT passed away December 5, 2010 at the McCone County Health Center following an extended illness.
Mom was one of 12 children born to John and Christina Bentz. She is preceded in death by both parents; several siblings; and an infant daughter.
Survivors include 3 children; 4 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Marsha Quinn of Lebanon, OR, her children, Stacey (Susan) of Sweet Home, OR and their children, Nyssa, Carolynn, Kaleb and Tymon, Jim (Jennifer) of San Antonio, TX, and their children, Tyler, Page, Alex, Kanon, and Zakkary; Larry (Dana) McCraw of Myrtle Creek, OR; and Lonnie (Monte) Geer of Colstrip, MT and their children, Levi (Gina) of Colstrip and their twins, Trey and Xandrea, Cinder (Freeland) Demaray of Billings, MT and their children, Teran, Alexis, and Abigail.
All through her life, Glendora loved to quilt and sew, embroider, and bake-especially Christmas cookies! She had a huge doll collection which was her pride and joy.
While a resident at MCHC she enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends and getting hugs from the staff.
Her family, her church, and her friends were so important to her. She will be greatly missed.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Circle. Interment will follow at the Riverview cemetery in Circle with Pastor Dave Ruddat officiating.
Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

George Elkshoulder Sr.
George Elkshoulder Sr. was born to Henry Elkshoulder and Bessie Wandering Medicine in Birney Village, Northern Cheyenne Reservation, Montana on December 9, 1927. He was given the Cheyenne name 'Walks Nice' and had that name until recently when his Cheyenne name was changed to 'Night Wolf'. He spent his entire life in Birney.
He married Eva Lame Bear and they had five sons, Leonard (Julie), Mark (Ilo), George, Jr. (Becky), Andy (Ella) and Eugene (Brenda). Through adoption he gained four daughters, Irene Hays and Jackie Russell of Oklahoma, Claire Stuart of Arizona and Barbara One Bear of Montana. At the time of his death he had 36 grandchildren, 118 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Early in his adult life he became involved with ceremonies often participating yearly until he achieved the status of a Religious Leader. He also attained the position of Chief Headsman of the Cheyenne Dogmen Society. For many years he instructed many young Cheyenne men in Fasting at Bear Butte located near Sturgis, South Dakota and in Sun Dance Ceremonies in Oklahoma and Montana as well as in the Cheyenne Arrow Ceremony. He became known for his knowledge of the Cheyenne Ceremonies especially the ceremonial songs. He conducted Native American Church services and made many trips to Texas.
His most recent achievement was participating in cultural preservation locally, nationally and internationally. He became well respected through his spiritual endeavors, his teachings and knowledge of Cheyenne ways and established many good relationships with people he came in contact with.
He left this world on December 5, 2010 at the Crow Old Age Home with his daughter-in-law Ilo, granddaughters Bessi Wilson and Marquel Wandering Medicine and their children at his side.
The old Cheyenne Traditional funeral rites for Cheyenne Arrow Men will once again be performed. Flowers and other modern burial customs, other than food for the wake and last meal, are respectfully requested not to be brought and the family respectfully asks for your kind considerations and understanding in this regard.
'Old Man George' as he was known by all, is believed by family and ceremonial people, that he is entitled to this ancient funeral ceremony.
Traditional wake services will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 beginning at 5:00pm at the Birney Community Hall. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 11:00am at the Birney Community Hall with burial following on his allotment land in Birney.

Dennis Albert Beauchamp
Dennis Albert Beauchamp "Rolling Thunder Boy", age 8, went to be with the Creator on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital in Ronan, MT.
Dennis was born February 21, 2002 at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point, MT to Harry Lewis Beauchamp, Jr. and Melissa 'Missy' Del McLeod. He was raised in Oswego, MT and educated in Frazer, MT.
Dennis was looking forward to school starting. He loved attending school and playing baseball and kickball. Halloween and the 4th of July were his favorite holidays. He was a lively boy who loved fireworks and candy.
Dennis looked up to his uncles Larry Beauchamp and David Chase. He worshiped his big brother Harry. He was a traditional dancer and singer, just like his big brother Harry. He loved art and was always drawing. Dennis loved the outdoors and always wanted to go hunting and fishing with the guys. He was a wild and playful boy who caused a lot of mischief. He loved string cheese and was an avid collector of Hot Wheel Cars. Playing games with his family was what he loved to do. No matter the time or place, he was always trying to get someone to play sports or board games with him.
Dennis was a handsome boy with a heart and soul of a bear and as wild as one too.
Dennis was preceded in death by his grandmas and grandpas, uncles and aunties too numerous to count. He is joined in death by his big brother, Harry Beauchamp III.
He is survived by his father, Harry Beauchamp Jr; mother, Melissa "Missy" McLeod of Oswego; sisters, Candice "Candy" Beauchamp of Seattle WA, Mourning Dove Beauchamp of Whitefish, MT and Cherish Rose Beauchamp of Oswego; uncles, aunties and cousins too numerous too mention.
A Wake began at his Aunt Sylvia's house in Ronan, Sunday August 15th. A Wake will be held 7 p.m. August 17 at the Oswego Community Hall. His Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. August 18, 2010 at the Frazer High School. Internment will follow at Oswego Presbyterian cemetery.

Dee Sweeney
Deloris 'Dee' Sweeney, age 89, of Miles City passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Holy Rosary Healthcare Center in Miles City.
Deloris was born in Parkston, South Dakota on July 19, 1921, the daughter of Emil and Mary (Fischer) Leischner. She grew up and attended schools in South Dakota. Deloris married Ambrose William 'Red' Sweeney on September 21, 1953 in Custer, South Dakota. In her early years in Miles City, she worked as a bookkeeper at Gambles and 19 years as the manager of the Community First Federal Credit Union.
Deloris was an avid exerciser who walked and loved to bowl. She also enjoyed attending Curves. She loved to clean house and did so to perfection.
Deloris is survived by two sons: Jim Sweeney of Billings, MT and Michael (Lynette) Sweeney of Belgrade, MT; two daughters: Mary Sweeney of Miles City, MT and Helen (Cliff) Ancelet of Clinton, TN; three brothers: Milton Leischner of Brandon, SD; Roger (Patsy) Leischner of Rochester, WA; and Denton (Evelyn) Leischner of Bremerton, WA; three sisters: Sylvia Clark of Chelkais, WA; Mary Ann (Chris) Saisslin of Kennewick, WA; and Elaine (Hans) Gartner of Rochester, WA; her grandchildren: Shelby, William, Katelyn, Ariel Martin; her great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Hunter, Riley, Gabriel and Rory; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Red Sweeney, daughter-in-law Kathy Sweeney and ten brothers and sisters: Edwin, Edna, Alma, Leo, Adella, Florence, Phyllis, Marvin, Morris and Viola.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Custer County cemetery in Miles City.

Janice Krausz
Janice F. Krausz, age 72, of Miles City, MT passed away at the Holy Rosary Extended Health Care in Miles City on November 27, 2010.
Janice was born on May 20, 1938 in Glendive, MT the daughter of Frank A. and Naoma (Glasscock) Eaton. She attended elementary school at Clear Creek and Dawson County High School.
While living on the family farm she met and married Clarence Krausz on March 4, 1956. In 1958 they moved to Miles City, MT. Janice worked for Holy Rosary Hospital working as a cook for 15 years. She then worked at the Friendship Villa for 10 more years until she retired.
Janice loved to cook, crochet, embroidering, traveling to Glendive to see her family until she was no longer able to travel and most of all her children and grandchildren.
Janice is survived by her husband of 54 years; children Kristy (Wesley) Green of Williston, ND; Denise (Jim) Linnell of Venus, TX; Kevin (Sheila) Krausz of Miles City; one sister, Lorraine Haggerty of Lindsay, MT; two brothers, Jack Eaton of Billings, MT and Jim Eaton of Covington, WA; 7 grandchildren, Crystal, Ryan and Nicole Green; Lindsey (Kevin) Hurst, James Linnell; Chance and Kimber Krausz, and 4 great-grandchildren, Braiden, Donoven and Weston Green, Analisa Hurst and one to be born in December 2010.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, sisters, Ora Westrom, Francze Nordin, Pat Travis, Gayle Schaffel, Betty Huskinson, and brothers, Cecil Eaton, and Bob Colby.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 3 with the family to receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
Interment will be held at a later date in Union cemetery near Lindsay, MT.

Alvina "Alex" Magnuson Kosty
Alex Magnuson Kosty, 89, died November 27th, 2010 at her home in Highgate Senior Living, Billings, MT where she had resided for the past two years.
Alex was born on November 18, 1921 in Marsh, MT. to Helen and Benjamin Schlenz. She graduated from Custer County High School in 1940. Alex married Harold Magnuson November 28, 1940 in Miles City, Montana where they resided for all but 3 of their 50 years of married life. Harold was employed for two years in the shipyards at Lake Washington and then 15 months with the Navy during World War II. He died in 1991.
Alex was a member of the Town and Country Club, the Miles City Club, First Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Circle. She competed in golf and bowling leagues and was always ready to play a game of cards with family and friends. She enjoyed bridge, sewing club and ceramics. Recently, she began creating her own greeting cards.
Alex married family friend Victor Kosty in 1993. During their 11 years of marriage they enjoyed traveling and visiting their extended family. They spent summers in Miles City and winters in Sun City West. Vic died in 2004.
Alex is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Orrin) Ferris of Billings and Linda (Vern) Erlenbusch of Miles City; stepsons Kurt (Jill) Kosty, Doug (Cindy) Kosty, Clark (Mary) Kosty, step-daughter Norma Jean (Bob) Brown and step-son-­in-law Chuck Rude'; 16 grandchildren, 15 great­-grandchildren, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Others who preceded Alex in death...step-father Charles Martin, sister Ruth Lynam and stepdaughter Sue Rude'. The family wishes to thank Highgate Senior Living Staff, Caregivers and friends for their love and care of Alex.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
