Ina Jean Davis, age 79 of Polson, passed away Monday August 14, 2006 in Egan, Minnesota.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Polson Community Church. The funeral service will be on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Polson Community Church with Rev. Richard Widerholdt officiating.
A reception will follow the services at the Polson Community Church. The burial will be a private family ceremony at the Lakeview cemetery. The family wishes any memorials be made to the Polson Community Church, 1814 1st Street East, Polson, Montana 59860.
Arrangements are under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory of Polson.
Melvin Leroy Brown, 82, of Ronan, MT. died on April 26, 2007 at his home in Ronan.
Melvin was born on Dec. 20, 1924 at the family home near Polson. He was raised and grew up in the Polson area.
As a young man Melvin worked in Hanford, WA. as a truck driver for a few years and eventually returned to Polson.
He married
Helen Bisson on July 23, 1945.
He worked in the timber industry in various capacities for several years. He then started his long career as an ironworker and worked for Montana Power Company and Culbertson Steel in Missoula. He also owned operated Brown's Conoco Station at Post Creek during the early 1960's. Melvin retired in 1983.
He and Helen took a three-month vacation to Alaska after his retirement.
Melvin especially loved hunting and fishing. Melvin was a longtime supporter and fan of the Mission Valley Speedway and built several roll cages for local drivers.
Melvin was a member of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribe.
He is preceded in death by his wife Helen, an infant daughter Mary Regina Brown and 2 brothers Harry Brown & Ronald Brown.
He is survived by his children- Melvin & Lynda Brown of Pablo, Cammie & Fred Ross of Ronan & Natalie & Ron Melvin of Polson and numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren. He is also survived by six sisters- Dorothy Webster of Ronan, Lenore & Henry Padilla of Ronan, Laura & Dale Decker of Puyallup, WA, Phyllis Lester of Ronan, June & Dave Conner of Tacoma, WA & Irma & Ballard Olquin of Portland, OR and she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Ann & Herb Sias for their care & friendship shown to Melvin.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Grogan Funeral Home in Polson. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Polson. Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with father Jim Connor officiating. A reception will immediately follow the mass at the church. Burial will follow at the Ronan cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
Howard J. Buck, 89, of Hot Springs, MT died on Dec. 31, 2005 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. He was born July 16, 1916 at Camas Hot Springs and graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1936. He married
Ruth Gardiner in 1955.
Howard's love of the outdoors continued from his childhood though his adult life. He was an avid sportsman, spending much of his free time fishing, hunting and camping. Some of the family's fondest memories are of spending weekends camping at Little Bitterroot and Flathead Lake. After retirement he and Ruth enjoyed many years of fishing and camping.
Howard enlisted in the United States Army in 1940, serving in the Medical Corp in the Philippines during World War II.
He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1945.
Upon his return from the army he and his brothers and his father purchased and operated a sawmill for two years on his timber claim at McGregor Lake. He and his brother Eddie, took over the operation of the family grocery store, Buck's Grocery in Hot Springs. He was a partner in the store until his retirement in 1978.
A butcher by trade, Howard's pork sausage recipe continues to be a favorite among customers at Buck's Grocery and has been passed on to his great grandchildren from the Flathead, to Florida and Alaska.
Howard was a gentle, loving man, respected and loved by his family and friends. He leaves us with cherished memories of a wonderful life together.
Howard was public service minded, serving the community as a 65-year charter member of the Hot Springs Lions Club, fire chief of the Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department, and was involved with youth as a Boy Scout Leader.
He was preceded in death by his wife and pal, Ruth; one brother, Eddie; two sisters, Margie Fortner and Velma Roe.
He is survived by his daughters, Claire Massey and husband Bill of Hot Springs, Kathy Andrews and husband Colin of Kalispell, Donna Andrews and husband Steve of Kalispell; one brother Lonnie Buck of Missoula; one sister Helen Pilgeram of San Jose, California; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for Howard will be held Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 11:00 am in the Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs. Military graveside services will follow at the Lonepine Murray Memorial cemetery. Caring for the family is Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory of Polson. Curtis Lee Baker, 79, of Polson, MT. passed away on July 3, 2006 at Brendan House in Kalispell, MT.
He is preceded in death by his wife Helen.
He is survived by his three children: Lon Baker of Connecticut, Stan Baker of Colorado & Linda Smith of Ohio.
No services are planned. Cremation & arrangements are by Grogan Funeral Home & Crematory of Polson.
Edwin Leroy Dover, husband of Louella Marie Dover and eldest son of Rev. Edwin and Carrie (Burnett) Dover, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2006 of pancreatic cancer. Leroy was born in Great Falls, Montana on November 15, 1931. He graduated from Chinook High School. While attending college at Rocky Mountain College for his Bachelor's of Science degree in chemistry, Leroy met the love of his life, Louella Hansen. They were married
on August 31, 1951 and to this union was born their sons Lewin (Jan), Lance (Rose), and Leslie (Gerry) and daughter Lorrie (Donald) Maxwell. He received his Masters from Stanford University in 1962. Leroy taught for 43 years and finished his career teaching high school chemistry and driver's training at Billings West High School. Following his retirement, Leroy and Louella made their home in Polson, Montana. Leroy's delights included sharing his love of Flathead Lake with his many family and friends and anyone standing on the dock in need of a boat ride. Leroy's interest in genealogy led to his organizing of the 2003 Dover Rendezvous held at Buffalo, Montana where his grandparents homesteaded. Family members from all over the United States came to meet and connect.
Besides Leroy's loving wife Louella and children, he is survived by his siblings Carol (Robert) Lind, Larry Dover, David (Mildred) Dover, and Carwin (Theone) Dover, his grandchildren Thomas, Garrett, Anna, Quinn, and Joseph, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents.
We wish to thank Dr. Gorman, Dr. Speckart, and the staffs at St. Joseph Hospital in Polson and St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula for their loving care of Leroy.
Services to be held Thursday, June 22, 10 AM at United Methodist Church, 301 16th Ave, Polson, Montana. A reception will be held at the church following committal.
Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.

Ralph Carlyle Ducharme, age 60 of Polson, passed away at his home from natural causes on Friday April 25, 2008 with his loving family at his side. Ralph was born on January 4, 1948 at St. Ignatius, MT to Wilbur and Hazel Ducharme. Following his school years, Ralph joined the US Army and served his country. After his time in the service, Ralph moved to Polson. Ralph married
Helen Henry at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 1971. Helen passed away in 1993. Ralph worked for the Charkoosta News, St. Joseph Convalescent Center, Villegas Janitorial, and Super One Foods as a custodian. He was an active member of the Eagles #3913 in Polson. Ralph enjoyed family gatherings and playing pool with family and friends. He was an avid bingo player and liked cooking and baking for everyone for any occasion. His wife Helen Ducharme, parents Hazel and Wilbur Ducharme, and sister Debbie Butt preceded Ralph in death. Ralph is survived by his sisters Victoria (Gus) Mandelas of Moses Lake, WA, Denise Banguis of Polson, Carrie Irvine of Pablo, Diane Ducharme of Polson, Lori (Kelly) Cunningham of Colorado Springs, CO, his brother Steve (Toni) Ducharme of Polson along with several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, who were very dear to his heart. A rosary service will be held on Sunday April 27, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. at the Flathead Lake Senior Citizens Center, 701 1st Street East, Polson. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday April 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Jim Connor officiating. Interment will follow the services at Lakeview cemetery with military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home.
Morris Conrad Bjorge, age 90 of Polson, formerly of Hot Springs passed away from natural causes on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at St. Luke Community Hospital at Ronan, MT. Morris was born on May 10, 1917 in Kalispell, MT to Martin and Clara Bjorge. Morris graduated from Polson High School in 1936. On November 14, 1963, Morris married
Adell Hobbs at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Morris ranched all of his life in Garcon Gulch on the family homestead. He was a member of the Accordian Association, Sons of Norway, Trinity Lutheran Church in Hot Springs, and attended the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church after he moved to Polson. Morris enjoyed accordion music, the Old Time Fiddlers, writing and telling historical stories. Morris always had a story for the date. His parents Martin and Clara, and his wife Adell preceded Morris in death. He is survived by his sons Marvin (Laura) Bjorge of Polson, Carl Bjorge of Tacoma, WA, and his four grandchildren Gina, James, Elisabeth, and David. Visitation will be held at Grogan Funeral Home on Friday August 17, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 18, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Rowold and Pastor Greg Perkins officiating. A reception will follow the service at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Fellowship Hall. Interment will take place at Murray Memorial cemetery at Lonepine, MT at 2:00 pm with Rev. Janet Young officiating. Robert Alan Diemert, 55, of Polson died at Evergreen Health and Rehab Center on August 3, 2007.
He is survived by his wife Cythia of Polson and 2 sons- Kelly & Sam Stewart of Denver, Colorado & 2 grandchildren Calvin & Dolton Stewart.
Graveside services will be held in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Local arrangements are by Grogan Funeral home of Polson.
Brian Cedric Anciaux was suddenly taken from us in a car accident early in the morning of Saturday February 16, 2008. He was born on January 29, 1981 in Missoula to Ben and Laura Anciaux. He spent the first few years of his life in Missoula, and then, Sidney, Montana. When he was 6, the family moved to Polson, where we lived in a large home with lots of memories. Our home was always full of people, and Brian spent his life surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly. He graduated from Polson High School in 1999 and eventually worked in management for Super 1 Foods. Not a person of many words, he wore his passion for life as a twinkle in his eyes, and had a special place in his heart for animals. He enjoyed working with his father on remodeling projects, and loved spending time with family and friends. His smile and enthusiasm will be greatly missed. Brian leaves behind his loving family, including his parents Ben and Laura, his brother Kyle, his brother Aaron and sister-in-law Rebecca, niece Megan, nephew Carter, and a large extended family that will keep him in their hearts forever. A memorial service will be held a 2:00 p.m. Thursday February 21, 2008 with Pastor Ron Pierce officiating at Grogan Funeral Home, 101 6th Avenue East in Polson. A reception at the Elks Club will immediately follow the ceremony. The family requests no memorials.
Vuelta L. 'Bella' Clairmont, age 86 of Polson, passed away from natural causes on Sunday August 26, 2007 with her family at her side. Bella was born on February 25, 1921 in May, Idaho to Verne and Lydia Hammond. Bella graduated from St. Ignatius High School and then went on and completed schooling at the Missoula Beauty School. She owned and operated her own beauty salon in St. Ignatius for two years. On October 17, 1940, Bella married
Alexander 'Sam' Clairmont in Wallace, Idaho. She sold her beauty salon to be with her husband and raise their family. Her family was her whole life. The family went everywhere together. The Clairmont family built their log home together on Sunset Bay on Flathead Lake. Bella also loved to dance. Her parents, her beloved husband Sam, brother Bill Hammond, sister Eileen DesJarlais, granddaughter Christen Clairmont and grandson Elias Clairmont preceded her in death. Her children Jane Clairmont of Polson, Steve (Terry) Clairmont of Polson, Carol (Ron) Phillips of St. Ignatius, Jim (Judy) Clairmont of Ronan, Wendy Clairmont of Polson, 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild survive Bella. Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 28, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Grogan Funeral Home. Vigil service will start at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday August 28th at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be on Wednesday August 29, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Jim Connor officiating. Blanche Elizabeth Noble Bailey, 92, of Polson, MT. passed away from life and her loving family on January 30, 2006 at the St. Luke Extended care Facility in Ronan. She has gone to be with her Savior and is now with her loved ones who were waiting for her in heaven.
Blanche was born on April 24, 1913 in Listowel, Ontario, Canada to Olive Elizabeth (Moore) and Earl William Noble. She attended school in Canada & Montana and attended Polson High School. After her family was grown, she received training certification as a licensed practical nurse. Prior to her certification she had worked many years as a nurses aid; assisting with deliveries, surgery and all aspects of nursing.
Blanche was united in marriage on Sept. 6, 1931 to Arthur Lenard Bailey at Kerr Dam. They spent most of their married
life in Valley View where they raised their family.
Blanche assisted Art with a milk route and was the first cook in the new lunchroom at Valley View School. Blanche was a news correspondent for the Flathead Courier for many years.
She was very artistic and became a wonderful artist. She made and decorated wedding cakes and now two of her granddaughters have taken up the craft.
Blanche was very active in the V.F.W. Auxiliary & Rebekah Lodge, where she had the honor of being State Rebekah Assembly President of Montana for 2 years. She was also a member of Grange, P.T.A. and held offices in each organization. She also received many awards for being Buddy Poppy Chairperson in the V.F.W.
There was never a parade that she didn't march and carry a flag. One year Blanche got to ride in a convertible as Grand Marshall of the 4th of July Parade.
She volunteered at the Country Store for several years. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed ceramics and her rose garden.
Blanche was preceded in death by her husband Art, a daughter Doris Jennison, a son Arthur, Jr. (Sonny), her parents, her brothers Irwin, Richard, Marlin & Neil Noble, niece Marion Noble Dooley, nephew Dick Noble, grandsons Rodney, Larry Knutson #1 and Larry Knutson #2 and great grandson Dusty Ely, son-in-laws John cook & Chuck Jennison, 4 sisters-in-laws and 3 brothers-in-law.
She is survived by her daughters Lois (Jim) Knutson of Polson & Yuma, Ariz., JoAnne (Bert) Finch of Polson & Yuma, Ariz., Sally Cook of Ronan, daughter-in-law Sheila of Sedro Woolley, Wash., 15 grandchildren- Patti, Ely, Jeff (Kathy) Knutson all of Polson, Susie (Earl) Owens of Shoreline, WA., Lenard (Judy) Jennison, Rick Jennison, Zane (Erin) Jennison, Beth (Paul) Rathbun and Lisa Jennison all of Ronan, MT, Wayne (Brenda) Finch of Eureka, MT, Cathy Finch of Ronan, Rita (Jim) Jaques of Missoula, Jody Cook of Ronan, Bryan (Sally) Cook of Polson, Ken (Laurie) Bailey of Spokane, WA., Debbie (Rick) Minne of Sedro Woolley, WA. She is also survived by 37 great grandchildren & 33 great great grandchildren & sister-in-law Bonnie Noble of Sedro Woolley, WA. and LaVern & Lovie Bailey of Polson, numerous nieces, nephews & friends.
Blanche was a member of the Polson Community Church and loved her church family.
Mother, you were always such an inspiration to all your family and we will be forever grateful for all the love and support you gave to us. Our lives were so richly blessed because of you and we are happy you are now at peace.

Florence (Flossie) Gennille (Bellefy) Berg, age 77, of St Ignatius, MT passed away on March 1, 2008 of a broken heart and pulmonary lung fibrosis while surrounded by her family. She was born June 17, 1930 to Louis and Alma Bellefy at Zerkel (Pine Center) Minnesota, one of thirteen children. Florence was baptized and confirmed at Rice Lutheran Free Church, and attended country school and Bagley High School. She was very active in Sunday school, speech, and sports.
She started working for neighbors as a baby-sitter at age 13, and worked as a tray girl and nurses-aide in the Clearwater Hospital, and also worked in several cafes as a waitress. She moved to Great Falls in the spring of 1949, and worked at the Club Cafeteria, Top-Notch Café, Old Eddies Café (down town), and Bairs Truck Stop.
Florence married
Duane Berg at Conrad in 1950, following her husband in construction work and in doing so worked in several eating establishments. In 1953, they moved to Iron Range in Aurora and Biwabik in northern Minnesota. She bought a farm in Shevlin, MN. They moved back to Great Falls in 1965. Duane and Florence divorced in 1968.
She received her GED in 1969 and attended Great Falls Commercial College for 1 year, and worked as a bookkeeper for Country Kitchen, Mattingly Custom Foundation Enterprises and also managed a trailer court. She retired in 1987 due to physical disabilities.
She was very active in her children's lives as a Sunday school teacher, PTA member, 4H leader, and assistant Den Mother in the Boy Scouts. She was treasurer for AAL; a member of Women's Bowling Association as Secretary, bowler and Score keeper; and a member of First English Lutheran Church in Great Falls where she was a member of the choir for many years.
Florence loved to travel and visit her family, and made several trips, including two trips to Hawaii with her daughters; Newfoundland, Canada to visit her son while he was stationed in the military; Calgary, Canada to visit her son; road trip to Alaska with daughter and granddaughter; and several trips back to Minnesota and Oregon. She loved playing cards, word puzzles, and making birthday, holiday and anniversary cards for family and friends. She lost a son Jim to AIDS, in January 1994 and created a panel with the help of family and friends, which was dedicated in Whitefish on April 23, 1994. She was also a Peace Hospice volunteer.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, one son, three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her sons Gary of Charlo, Dave of St. Ignatius, and Curtis of Turner, OR.; daughter Becky (John) Lekan of Bagley, MN., and Judy Frank of Thompson Falls, MT.; brothers Lawrence (Jane) Bellefy, Joseph (Dorothy) Bellefy, Richard Bellefy, and Marvin (Bonnie) Bellefy, sisters Mearle Montieth, and Adeline Wooliscroft all of Bagley, MN., and Diane Morris of Rogers, MN.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grand children, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Grogan Funeral Home in Polson, on Tuesday March 4, 2008 with Janet Young of Hot Springs Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation will follow. Private inurnment of the remains will be held at a later date. All donations to go to St. Patrick's House, 501 W. Alder, Missoula, MT 59802 in memory of Florence G. Berg. It is hard for us to summarize seventy-seven years into a few paragraphs of what a wonderful mother she was, she always put her family first, even up to her final days. She taught us one important lasting lesson: to appreciate what you have now before it's too late.
