95 years old, died of natural causes Tuesday evening, Aug. 12, 1997, at the Gallatin Rest Home. Born March 26, 1902, in Elkhorn. 8th of 9 children born to Arthur Lee and Emma (Eklund) Sheperd. The last surviving member of her family. Family settled in Montana before it was a Territory. Member of the Sons and Daughters of the Pioneers. Father belonged to 1st contingent of Royal Canadian Mounted Police and in 1874 patrolled the Whoop Up Trail and the Sweetgrass Hills. At 2, her mother rode a steamboat up the Missouri River from Minneapolis, arriving in Fort Benton in 1864. Father was a mine assayer, and the family lived in Radersburg, Marysville, Unionville and Elkhorn. married Jasper McGuire on Sept. 26, 1921, in Livingston. Farmed his family's Decker district homestead until his death in 1980. Worked & lived on the family farm until 1994. Attended Grace Bible Church. Daughter & son in law, Emma & Robert Davis of Belgrade. Granddaughters: Karen of Helena, Sheryl of Lincoln, Neb., & Linda of Bakersfield, Calif. Sister in law, Florence Sheperd of Bozeman & numerous nieces & nephews. Sons, an infant Edward & Joe all deceased. Services 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Dokken Nelson Sunset Chapel. East Gallatin Cemetery.

83 years old. Died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996, at the Gallatin County Rest Home after lengthy illness. Born Jan. 15, 1913, in rural Danvers. married Aletha Brisbin Dec. 25, 1939, in Townsend. Operated businesses in Townsend, Harrison & Three Forks. Retired in Three Forks. Aletha died Feb. 14, 1995. Son: Bob of Las Vegas. Grandsons: Daniel of Las Vegas & Travis of Billings. Died natural causes Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998. Lived Gallatin Co. all her life. Born May 6, 1907, Bozeman. Parents: Victor Hayes Adams & Georgia Bell Schwietering Adams. married Henry H. Parsons (deceased 1967) Jan 19, 1923 in Bozeman. Her entire life, except for a short time in Oregon, was spent ranching, farming and logging in Gallatin County. Member of American Legion Auxiliary & Daughters of the Pioneers. Son, Paul (deceased). Grandchildren, Monte, Janet, Faye & Donnie (all deceased). Sons C. Puckett, Max, 2-22-1998
Died: Feb. 15, 1998, at Broadwater Health Center in Townsend. Sister, Helen Blacic. Born Jan. 20, 1910 Osceola, Iowa. Parents: John and Myrtle Mitchell Puckett. Moved to Bozeman as child, where they farmed on Huffine Lane, until moving to the home ranch on Harper Puckett road. Veteran of World War II & member of the DVA, VFW and American Legion. While stationed at Marsh AFB near San Bernardino, Calif., Max took Betty Nelson and her daughter, Judy, as his family. Upon the retirement of his father in 1949, Max and his new family moved to Bozeman to care for the family farm and his brother, Raymond. Charter member of the Gallatin County Sheriff's Posse. Worked for Drs. Mark Young and Rob Meyers at their veterinary clinic, and then as a cowboy on the Flying D Ranch. Also worked for Buck and Marsha Anderson on the CA Ranch. Friends included the Brainards, Ewings & Pessels. Retired at 77, previously in a movie filmed at Anceny & featured in a book, "Voices and Visions of the American West," among other true cowboys including his friend, the late Sam Spring from Gallatin Gateway. Was also featured in "Horse and Rider" magazine honoring working cowboys of the west. He & friends, Ray Jr. and Bill Meyers, rode wagon in the 1989 Great Cattle Drive parade in Billings. Lifetime member of the Grand Avenue Christian Church in Bozeman. Friend, Audrey Stevens. Called "Popso" by family. Survived by his only child, Judy (Puckett) Strang of Townsend & her husband, "Donnie" Strang & beloved granddaughter, Vicki (Strang) & husband, Rick Harrison of Bozeman & great grandson, Dub Harrison of Eureka, Calif., & great grandson Max Harrison of Bozeman. Also, beloved granddaughter, Teri (Strang) & her husband, Russ Thayer of Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, & his great granddaughter, Tawni (Connie) & great granddaughter, Nikki & beloved granddaughter, Staci (Strang) & her husband, Ron Hartman of Townsend & great granddaughters, Matie and Annabelle & 2 sisters, nephew and family of Townsend. Also, 2 sisters and a special niece, Billie Thomas of Bozeman, along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Max was preceded in death by his parents; brother; wife, Betty; and his very special "sis," Mildred Pasha.

74 years old. Died of natural causes at her home in Bozeman Wednesday, Sept. 11, 1996. Born Oct. 14, 1921, in Glendive. Parents: Harry L. & Mabel (Hennessy) Rust. Lived & went to school in Glendive. Graduated: Dawson County High School. Moved to Bozeman & attended Montana State College & recieved registered nurse degree. married Thomas W. Symmonds Jr. March 3, 1945, in Townsend. Lived in Bozeman & worked as nurse at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital until 1953. Went to work with Dr. R.A. Williams & retired in 1979. Daughter & son in law, Cynthia & Ed Lenington of Fort Benton. Son & daughter in law, Tom & Phyllis Symmonds of Longview, Wash. Grandchildren, Emily & Erik Lenington. Step grandchildren, Heather & Kristy Lee, 1 step great grandchild. Died of natural causes Feb. 9, 1998, at Gallatin Rest Home. Born March 6, 1903, in Fishdam, Tenn., in the Holston Valley near Bristol, Tenn. Parents: William and Amelia (Peters) Booher. Mother died premature death from tuberculosis. Father & children moved to Montana in 1915 & settled on Dry Creek near Manhattan, where father was a cattle rancher. Graduated from Manhattan High School 1921, & attended MSU 1 year. married James Park Taylor of Manhattan July 20, 1924. They ranched in the Madison Valley near West Fork Bridge in the 1930s. Moved & managed the 320 Ranch 1937 - 1955. Divorced 1950. Was receptionist at the MSU Student Union Building 1956 - 1973. Family moved to Montana. married John Telling in Manhattan on Feb. 25, 1920. Moved to Lynden in 1971. Member of the Third Christian Reformed Church. Husband died 1989. 54 years old, died of natural causes in his home at Milligan Canyon, west of Three Forks Sunday morning, Oct. 6, 1996. Born Sept. 7, 1942, at Dr. Hill's Hospital in Whitehall. Parents: Carroll 0. and Mildred S. (Berry) Watson. Grew up in the Milligan Canyon area, west of Three Forks. Attended the Eureka School & graduated at Willow Creek. Attended Northern Montana College in Havre & the Rocky Mountain School of Meat Cutting in Denver. Worked as a meat cutter in Kalispell 7. Returned home in 1974 to run the family ranch after father's retirement. married: July 9, 1977 to Sherrill Logerstedt of Three Forks in the Lone Mountain Soldier's Chapel in the Gallatin Canyon. 1980, built and operated Milligan Canyon Meats on the family ranch. Religion: Faith Baptist Church of Townsend. 2 children. Chairman of Board of Directors of Gallatin Valley Outlaws Legion Baseball Program of which he served as & sponsor of the Three Forks Booster Club. Son: Cameron Martin Watson.
