Linda Coulson-Dahl

BURBANK, WASH. - Former Arlee resident Linda Coulson-Dahl, 49, wife of Jim Dahl, died Aug. 10 at her home in Burbank, Wash., after a short battle with cancer.

Linda was born March 5, 1950, in Hamilton, the daughter of Jim and Connie Coulson of Arlee. She attended schools in Arlee and St. Regis. She moved to the Tri-Cities area of Washington nine years ago and then to Burbank about five years ago.

Linda was a loving wife, mother, granddaughter, daughter and sister. She was an avid homemaker, enjoyed various arts, crafts and camping, and at the time of her death was the Burbank Boy Scout den leader.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Coulson, and grgrandparents Ernie and Alice Moran.

Survivors include her husband Jim Dahl; son David Dahl; daughter Julie Dahl; grandsons Coti and Willie Dahl; her mother, Connie Moran Coulson; sisters Debbie Privett, Becky Dillard and Peggy Hammond; brothers C.J. and Audie Coulson, and various other relatives.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at the Jocko Catholic Church in Arlee. For more information, call Connie Coulson at 726-3873.

Ensign Daniel Rulon Tyler

MOSCOW, IDAHO - Ensign Daniel Rulon Tyler, 27, a former Ronan resident, and his daughter Katelynn DeLoyce Tyler, 3, of Moscow, Idaho, died of injuries sustained in an automobile accident Aug. 3 near Price, Utah.

Daniel was born July 5, 1972, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, a son of Dr. Daniel and H. Deloyce Price Tyler. He spent his early years in Ronan, where he was educated, graduating from Ronan High School. He later graduated with an associate's degree from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and had recently graduated from the University of Idaho in Moscow with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

He married Rebecca Griffeth on Jan. 6, 1995, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of the LDS Church and was an Eagle Scout. He served an LDS mission in Milwaukee, Wis. He had served as Ward executive secretary, Elders Quorum president, Ward clerk and in the young men's organization. His hobbies included archery, mountain biking, motorcycling, hunting, skiing and golfing.

Katelynn was born May 3, 1996, in Rexburg, to Daniel and Rebecca. She lived in Moscow and loved to sing and dance.

Dan is survived by his wife Rebecca Tyler of Idaho Falls; daughter Emily Rose Tyler of Idaho Falls; parents Dr. Daniel and DeLoyce Tyler of Superior; sisters Tammy Peterson and her husband Jesse of Hooper, Utah, and Mandy Taylor and her husband Mike of Seattle; grandparents Nancy Arensman of Casa Grande, Ariz., Darwin and Dorothy Tyler of Downey, Idaho, and Hattie Price of Salt Lake City.

Katelynn is survived by her mother, Rebecca Tyler; sister Emily Rose Tyler; grandparents Dennis and Rosalee Griffeth of Idaho Falls and Dr. Daniel and DeLoyce Tyler; great-grandparents J.C. and Marie Momberger of Hamer, Idaho, Nancy Arensman, Darwin and Dorothy Tyler and Hattie pPice.

Funeral services were held Aug. 7 at the Eagle Rock LDS Stake Center in Idaho Falls, with Bishop Raeo Roos of the Westview LDs Ward officiating. Burial was in Fielding Memorial Park in Idaho Falls.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Emily Rose Tyler Education Fund, c/o U.S. Bank, 1555 West Broadway, Idaho Falls, 83402.

Coltrin Mortuary of Idaho Falls was in charge of arrangements.

Frank A. Pickel

POLSON ‹ Frank A. Pickel, 92, of Polson, formerly of Missoula, died Oct. 20, 2000, at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes. Frank was born July 16, 1908, in Basin, the son of Frank and Christine Pickel. In 1913, they moved to Butte, where he attended school. He began his working career as an office boy for Montana Power Co. on Oct. 17, 1922, at age 14. In September 1930, he was united in marriage to Margaret Paige. In 1951, he married Alvene S. Oblizalo. He was transferred to Missoula in 1953 and lived there until his retirement in 1973. He worked for Montana Power for 50 years. He moved to Kerr Dam in 1973 and then to Polson in 1996. Frank enjoyed sports, and was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Polson Country Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife in 1949 and his brother and sister-in-law, William G. and Esther Pickel of Butte. Frank is survived by his wife Alvene Pickel; two sons and their wives, Duane F. and Joyce Pickel of Polson and Frank W. and Rosemary Pickel of Sacramento; a stepson, John R.Oblizalo of Las Vegas; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, including Steven D. Pickel, Puyallup, Wash.; Deborah E. Habtetsion, Phoenix; Catherine Pickel-Hicks, Davis, Calif.; Sandra Barger, Los Angeles; Kristan Pickel- Lemon, Tucson; and Mango Allen, Bay Minette, Ala. Memorial services was held Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Polson.Interment was Oct. 25, at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Missoula. Arrangements were under the direction of the Malletta Family of Funeral Homes Sunset Chapel. The family suggests memorials in Frank's name to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Polson or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Philip J. Reifel

ST. IGNATIUS - Philip J. Reifel, 68, of St. Ignatius died June 10, 1999, in St. Patrick Hospital of cancer. He was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Upland, Calif., to Eileen and Philip Reifel.

Philip worked and lived in the Upland area most of his life, attending college in Redlands. Phil was a top insurance agent with New York Life for 35 years, retiring in 1979 to pursue his hobbies.

He loved sailing and spent a great deal of time his sailboat (Blowhard), exploring the coasts of California and making two long trips to Mexico.

In 1988, Phil and his wife, Jacqulyne, built a home in St. Ignatius with a shop where Phil made beautifully carved birds and furniture. He loved to golf, hunt, fish and ride his Harley. He will be missed by his wife Jacqulyne; daughter Melinda and son-in-law Tom Orchard, and grandchildren, Jeff and Jennifer Orchard; son Philip Kelly Reifel and granddaughter Kelly Ann Reifel; brother Stan Reifel and wife Dana; niece Ariana Reifel, niece Lisa Clark and husband Cyrus, and nephew Stan Reifel and wife Pei.

Happy sailing, Phil, you'll always be in our heart.

Louise Marie Bilile

RONAN - Louise Marie Bilile, 92, died June 22 at St. Luke Hospital here due to natural causes. She was born Dec. 28, 1906, to William and Lulu Works near Albany, Ore. The family moved to the Big Sandy area in 1918. She attended a country grade school and graduated from Big Sandy High School where she was a member of the girls' basketball and track teams.

Louise married Clarence Bilile in Havre June 19, 1927. They farmed in the Big Sandy area and moved to the present day farmstead in Ronan in 1929, where they reared a family of seven children and Louise resided for 70 years.

She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star and served as Mother Advisor to Rainbow Girls. Louise was a member of Sew and Sew Women's Club and the Ronan Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 1961, two brothers Kenneth and Irvin Works, sister Loretta Prindle and three daughters, Alice Bilson, Evadean Walchuk and Maxine Guenzler.

Louise is survived by a brother, William Dossie Works of Lincoln City, Ore.; a daughter, Phyllis Leonard of Havre, and three sons, Morris, Roy and Ray Bilile of Ronan, 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the Ronan Methodist Church on June 28. Arrangements were by Shrider's Mortuary of Ronan.

Sylvester B. Mueller

RAVALLI - Sylvester B. Mueller, 83, of Ravalli died June 25 at San Juan Living Center in Montrose, Colo.

He is survived by three daughters: Beth Johnston of Montrose, Jeanie Peterson of Yampa County, Colo., and Mary Ellen Clark of Ravalli; a son, Mark Mueller of Ravalli; one grandchild, Shannon Kuboske of Montrose, and great-grandchildren Alexis Johnston and Trevor Kuboske.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery.

Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose is in charge of Colorado arrangements, with Mission Valley Funeral Chapel of St. Ignatius in charge of local arrangements.

William Kenneth Royer
POLSON - William Kenneth "Ken" Royer, 80, went to be with his father on Sept. 5, 2000, at his home in Polson. He was born July 14, 1920, in Newton, Kan., to Alvin Leonard and Ella Pierce Royer. In 1937, at age 17, he moved to Jerome, Idaho, to live with an uncle due to health problems in the Kansas climate. It was in Jerome where he met Marion Jean Evans and they were married on Nov. 8, 1940. They were later joined by two sons and a daughter. In 1943, Ken joined the Twin Falls Fire Department where he became assistant fire chief for a time and later retired in 1965. While working as a fireman, he always ranched, farmed and broke and trained horses on the side. Upon retirement he took up full-time ranching, where he ran a large cattle operation in the Lost River Valley near Mackay, Idaho. In 1976, Ken and Marion moved back to Twin Falls where he went back to work for the City of Twin Falls Water Department, still maintaining his work with horses. In 1985, they both retired for the last time and wintered in Wickenburg, Ariz., and spent their summers in Idaho and Montana. They moved to Polson in March 1996 to be near their daughter. Here they put in roots and met and maintained many friends and church family. Ken always had the most beautiful yard and garden right up until his passing and was so very proud of his fruit trees and greenhouse. He could, and did, build anything with his hands and could make anything grow. His life was centered around his wife and children and making sure they were all happy and taken care of. He was blessed with a surprise party and family reunion for his 80th birthday, where he spent several days with his children, grandkids and great-grandkids and many other family members. He was so happy that they all came and spent time with him to celebrate. He is survived by his wife of 60 years at their home in Polson; son David K. Royer and wife Manu of Houston; daughter Diane and husband Lee Alderdice of Polson; son Richard K. Royer and wife Janet of Philipsburg; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters. He was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters and two brothers. A memorial service was held at the Grogan Funeral Home in Polson on Sept. 8, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Weiderholdt officiating. he family requests any donations be sent to the Polson Community Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1033, Polson 59860. Arrangements were under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home.

Frank Drake
RONAN - Frank Drake, age 72, of Ronan went home to his Lord on Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, in Salmon, Idaho. Frank was born June 30,1929 in St. Ignatius to Guy and Lottie Drake. He attended school there and worked on the family ranch until 1972. Frank built several houses throughout the Mission Valley. He enjoyed singing at church and with the community choir. He also worked gathering information on rural schools for the Superintendent of Public Instruction. In his retirement years he and his wife enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona. He liked restoring old tractors. He will be greatly missed by friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Helen Armstrong of Livingston, Violet Bell of Walport, Ore., and Dorothy Nadreau of Ronan; and a brother Mike Drake of Sacramento. He is survived by his wife Janet of Ronan, son Bill and his wife Vickie and three grandchildren - Jason, Bill and Christine of Anderson, Mo.; a sister, Marguerite Commings of Livingston; brothers, Harry and Dorothy Drake of Kennewick, Wash., Art and Natalie Drake of Cheney, Wash., Floyd and Barbara Drake of Junction City, Ore., and a special nephew, Clark Armstrong, and many other nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held last Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ronan with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to Shodair, P.O. Box 5539, Helena, Mt. 59604. Shrider's Mortuary assisted the family with funeral arrangements.

Kenneth "Gene" Johnston
DIXON - Kenneth Eugene "Gene" Johnston, 90, of Dixon died Sept. 9, 2000, at the home of his daughter Betty in Missoula. He was born May 28, 1910, in Spaulding, Neb., the son of Albert and Pearl Johnston. On May 4, 1932, he married Helen Engle in Missoula. His parents, three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Helen; six daughters, Betty Ebel and husband Jerry of Missoula, JoAnn Hertz and husband Eugene of Missoula, Alice Coates and husband Jim of Spokane, Ila Crunkelton of Connell, Wash., Beverly Baertsch of Reno, and Faye Howell and husband Dale of Polson; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. At Gene's request there will be no service.
