Thomas Yenne

Thomas (Tom) Yenne died May 27, 2002, at the Brendan House in Kalispell. He will be remembered by all as a caring and gentle individual.
He was born to Peter and Mary O'Leary on Feb. 24, 1910, in Madera, Calif. As an infant, he moved to the Creston area where he lived until moving to Kalispell in 1995. He married Doris Blackmer on April 3, 1937. They celebrated their 65th anniversary together this year. He established the Creston School bus route in 1935 and drove that route for 39 years, being a special friend to all his bus passengers. He also farmed, owned dump trucks and worked for the Forest Service. He helped organize, served as the first chief, and was active for many years in the Creston Volunteer Fire Department. Other involvement was in the Senior Citizens and AARP.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clyde and Bill, and a sister, Florence Marken.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; two sons, Gerald Yenne and his wife, JoLynn, of Bigfork, and Alan Yenne and his wife, Bette Lou, of Hood River, Ore.; four grandchildren, who admired him greatly: Wayne Yenne, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Karen Yenne, of Vancouver, wash., KayLynn Waddell, of Woodland Park, Colo., and Janet Tipton, of Vancouver, Wash.; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Gudgel, of San Jose, Calif., and Ann Hollinberger, of Creston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held June 14 at 1 p.m. at Johnson Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Ron Pierce officiating. A reception will follow the service at the First Presbyterian Church. Urn burial will take place at C. E. Conrad Memorial cemetery at 3 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to Home Options Hospice, 175 Commons Loop Suite 100, Kalispell MT 59901 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Gary Howard

Gary Howard, 44, died June 4, 2002, at the Brendan House in Kalispell.
He was born Jan. 4, 1958, in Bozeman to Aleck Koulalis and Myrna (McBroom) Koulalis.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator and construction worker most of his life. He came to Kalispell in 1988 and then moved to the Elko, Nev., area in 1989 to work in the gold mines where he worked for 10 years. He returned to Kalispell in 1999 to be near his family. He married Christine Kinniburgh on Nov. 4, 1989, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and was later divorced in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aleck Koulalis; his adopted father, Roy Howard; and his stepfather, Wade Teskey.
He is survived by his mother, Myrna Teskey; two daughters, Jessica and Allie Howard, all of Kalispell; grandmother, Idella Stalcup, of Kalispell; two sisters, Patty Green, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Lori Wood, of Deer Lodge; two brothers, Rick LeBrun, of West Fargo, N.D., and Pete Howard, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.
Graveside service was held June 9, at Fairview Cemetery, Kalispell.

Charles "Tom" Ladenburg

Charles Thomas "Tom" Ladenburg, age 79, passed away quietly Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born Aug. 12, 1923, in the Bad Rock Canyon to Francis and Emma Ladenburg. He was a longtime resident of the North Fork and spent most of his working life as a logger and rancher. He was dedicated to his animals and to preserving the beauty of the North Fork. His sense of humor and loyalty to friends will be remembered by all. Most trips to "town" included a stop at Sykes for a chance to visit with his numerous friends.
His early life included college at Stanford and service in the Army.
He married Joan Friedrich on June 24, 1966. She was the light of his life and preceded him in death in 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and one son.
Tom is survived by his sister, Ellen Lynch, of Walla Walla, Wash.; three daughters, Michele Hembd, of Redlands, Calif., Patricia Jacobsen, of Lynnwood, Wash., and Marilyn Ladenburg, of Coram; his special friend and companion, Deke; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
The loss of Tom marks the end of an era. His survivors are left with his legacy to carry on. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
A funeral service was held Oct. 7, 2002, at the Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls, Rev. Ron Pierce officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery, where he was laid to rest beside his beloved wife. Military graveside honors were conducted by the United Veterans of the Flathead.

Jacob Schilling

Jacob Schilling, age 89, passed away Tuesday, Oct.1, 2002, at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls.
He was born March 29, 1913, in Beulah, N.D. to Jacob and Magdalena Schilling. He spent his early life in Beulah and moved to Chinook in 1938, where he was employed at the water plant.
Jack served with the U.S. Army from June 1944 to April 1946. He was a light artillery gun crewman serving in the Rhineland and Central Europe.
He married Betty Ross on Jan. 10, 1952, and they moved to Columbia Falls where he was employed by Kelly Lumber. He worked at the Columbia Falls grade school as a custodian for many years, retiring in 1974.
Jack's granddaughters were his number one priority in life, and his gentle ways were known by all. He could be seen walking uptown daily and had a smile and wave to all before moving to the Montana Veterans Home in December 1995, where he resided until his death.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Sandra; his son, Randall; his sisters, Bertha helm, of Mandan, N.D., Freida Knettel, of Chinook, Pauline Magda, of Chinook; and his brothers, John Schilling, of Chinook, George Schilling, of Kalispell, and Albert Schilling, of Eugene, Ore.
He is survived by a son, Michael Schilling, of Kalispell; a daughter, MaryBeth Arnold, and her husband, Will, of Columbia Falls; two granddaughters, Brooke Brennan, and her husband, Mike, serving with the U.S. Air Force at Elgin AFB in Florida, and Maggie Bigelow, employed as a financial manager at Ramstein AFB in Germany; his sisters, Martha Goehring, of Beulah, N.D., and Louise Gruiazie, of Chinook.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Glacier Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kalispell. Pastor David Jones, of the United Methodist Church in Columbia Falls, will officiate. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the United Veterans of the Flathead.
The United Methodist Church will host a gathering of friends after the service.

Maurice Tracey

Maurice Tracey, age 85, of Columbia Falls died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Colonial Manor in Whitefish.
Maurice was born on Nov. 4, 1916, at his family homestead on the prairies, 40 miles outside of the town of Weldon. His parents, Bernard and Letha Tracey, and family moved to Coram in 1923. From there, they moved to Columbia Falls in 1928, where Maurice lived for 79 years.
He loved all of nature. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, hiking, fishing, insects and bird watching. In later years, much of his time was spent tending his bird feeders, growing flowers and gardening at his home on Frontage Road. During World War II, Maurice worked as a welder in the shipyards in Everett, Wash.
Preceding Maurice in death were his parents; his brothers, Harland and Johnny; and sisters, Florence and Marjorie.
Left to mourn his brother's death are Robert Tracey, and wife, Darlene, of Deer Island, Ore., and sister, Dorothy Basha, and husband Joseph, of Springfield, Ore.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of the Christian Burial was held Oct.4, 2002, at St. Richard's Catholic Church in Columbia Falls. Rev. Joe Pat Moran officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls.

Michael Cox

Michael E. Cox, age 53, passed away at his home in Carlisle, Ohio, on Sept. 26, 2002.
He was born on a farm in Clermont County, Ohio, on July 5, 1949. He grew up on a farm in Ohio before moving to Columbia Falls in 1966. He graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1967.
He moved to Ohio, where he worked for General Motors-Delphi in Dayton, Ohio, for 24 years before retiring because of ill health in 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Tera; stepson Cody Hatfield, at home; daughters, Anna Shultz, and husband, Richard, of Franklin, Ohio, Amber Schwartz, and husband, Michael, of Hilliard, Ohio; parents, Samuel and Arletta Jean Cox, of Columbia Falls; brothers, Samuel and wife, Sonja, and Walter and wife, Melanie, all of East Helena, and Kenny and wife, Debbie, of Evergreen; sisters, Deborah Beck and husband, Kenneth, of Columbia Falls, and Alice Meyer, and husband, Henry, of Swan Valley; grandchildren, Michalee, Richelle and Nicholas, of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews in Montana.
A memorial service will be held at the LaSalle Grange Hall on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Gene Speer conducting services.

Herbert Glessing

Herbert John Glessing, 73, left this life for the next, external life, on Oct. 1, 2002, after a five-and-one-half-year battle with kidney failure and complications.
He was born Dec. 28, 1928, in Barronett, Wis., to George and Elsie (Fisher) Glessing on the family operated dairy farm.
While he was young, he worked at various jobs. He joined the U.S. Army and served from 1946 to 1948. After his discharge and while working at a local cheese factory near Rice Lake, Wis., he met and married Rosemary VanMullen in Winter, Wis., on June 12, 1954. The couple spent two years in Mt. Edgecumbe, Alaska, while he went to work for Equity Supply Co., working in the creamery and grain elevators. He was later hired by the Flathead County Road Department, where he worked as an equipment operator for 20 years before retiring in 1990.
He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved all sorts of hunting, fishing, camping and wildlife. He especially loved hunting birds with his dogs. He leaned toward conservation of wildlife and the forest.
He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wilfred (Sam) Glessing and Robert Glessing; and one sister, Helen La Verna Belcher.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Rosemary Glessing, of Kalispell; one daughter, Julie Ann Winkler, of Baltimore, Md.; one son, Bruce Glessing, of Bradbury, Calif.; two grandchildren, Jamal and Janella Winkler; one brother, Norbert Glessing; one sister, Lila Anne Johnson, of Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
At his request, cremation will take place and his ashes will be scattered in his favorite area of the North Fork.
A memorial service was held Oct. 5, 2002, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Stappler officiating.
Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.

Doris Rasmussen

Doris Evangeline Rasmussen, 82, was called home to be with her heavenly Father on Oct. 2, 2002, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home.
She was born March 21, 1920, in Minot, N.D., to Eilert and Olga (Johnson) Lunde.
Her parents moved their family to the Flathead Valley in 1924, and she has remained here ever since. She attended school in Kalispell and graduated from Flathead High School in 1938.
After high school, she went to work at Kalispell Mercantile. Upon his return from the South Pacific after World War II, she married Donald Rasmussen on June 9, 1946. She continued working at different bookkeeping jobs throughout her life. In 1951, they became proud parents of their only child, Lamar.
She and her family were charter members of the Assembly of God Church in Kalispell. She was always active in the church, helping with Missionettes and serving on various boards at the church. She loved working with her hands doing crafts and gardening. She enjoyed her friends and going for coffee and dessert.
She was preceded in death by her son, Lamar.
She is survived by her husband, Don, of Kalispell; sister, Helen Darras, of Seattle, Wash.; daughter-in-law, Susan; three grandsons, Aaron, Joel and Kirk Rasmussen, all of Kalispell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service was held Oct. 8, 2002, at the C. E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran School Building Fund, 400 West California Street, Kalispell MT 59901.

James Herron

James Lewis Herron, 81, passed away Nov. 21, 2002, at North Valley Hospital.
He was born March 20, 1921, in Chippewa Falls, Wis. He moved to the Flathead Valley in 1928 where he attended schools in Creston and Whitefish.
In 1941, he joined the Army Air Corp. and served in the African Campaign, Italy and Sicily. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
He married his beautiful wife, Florence Campbell, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on April 20, 1945. They moved to Butte, where he worked in the mines for two years, and then moved to Renton, Wash., where he built houses in Renton and the surrounding area.

Bonnie Peretti

Bonnie Jeannine Peretti, 71, died Nov. 19, 2002, at Brendan House in Kalispell.
She was born July 12, 1931, in Polson to Fredrick Donald and Bonnie Lynn (Parrick) Hacker.
She was preceded in death by her father, F. Don Hacker.
She is survived by her mother, Bonnie Hacker, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell; daughter, Debra Peretti, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; and son, Michael Peretti, and wife, Shelly, of Missoula.
Memorial gatherings will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at noon at the Vista Linda Restaurant in Somers, and on Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at noon at the Garden City Funeral Home in Missoula.
The family suggests memorials to the Resident Outing Fund, c/o Immanuel Lutheran Home, 185 Crestline Avenue, Kalispell MT 59901, or to the Montana State University, Nursing Education Department, Bozeman MT 59718.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary & Crematory.
