Clinton F. 'Clint' Brandl

MISSOULA - Clinton F. "Clint" Brandl, 82, passed away quietly Monday, Jan. 19, at St. Patrick Hospital of natural causes.

Clint was born Jan. 17, 1916, in Sealy, Texas, to Simon and Anne Brandl. After a short period, the family moved to Yoakum, Texas, where he was educated in Yoakum public schools.

On Oct. 19, 1939, he married Evelyn Bordovsky. Clint and Evelyn moved to the Northwest in 1940 and settled in the Missoula area.

Clint retired in 1996 as fleet manager for Grizzly Auto Center.

He loved the outdoors and became and ardent hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, and two brothers, Simon and Dennis.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; daughters, Barbara Transue of Spokane, Phyllis Solberg, Joyce Rickel and Katheryn Nordin of Missoula; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one brother, Melvin, of Maui, Hawaii.

Following cremation, memorial services will be held at the Garden City Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. John Miller officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Eagles Lodge.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Missoula.

Michael Scott Northey

MISSOULA - Michael Scott Northey, 24, died Sunday, Jan. 18, in an avalanche while snowmobiling on Sage Peak near Big Sky.

He was born on Aug. 9, 1973, in Missoula to Dick and Donna (Rutherford) Northey. He graduated from Hellgate High School in 1992, where he lettered in wrestling, football and cross country. He was completing his final semester in Mechanical Engineering Technology at MSU-Bozeman, where he served as vice president of the Mechanical Engineering Technology section of ASME.

Mike pursued many hobbies and loved anything with a motor. He especially enjoyed 4-wheelers, motorcycles and snowmobiles. Above all else, Mike was a devoted family member and friend. He will be remembered for his friendly smile and his willingness to lend a helping hand.

Mike is survived by his parents, Dick and Donna Northey of Missoula; his sister, Alicia Northey and her fiance, Tom Shannon of Missoula; his special friend, Janine Winchester of Missoula; his grandparents, Harry and Dorcas Northey of Missoula and Herb and Myrt Rutherford of Tower City, N.D.; aunts and uncles, John Northey of Helena, Tom and Cindy Northey, Harry and Karen Northey, and Betsy and Pete Odegard, all of Missoula, Ray and Bonnie Rutherford, Harley and Jeannie Rutherford of Helena, Marlin and Helen Legler of Valley City, N.D., Virginia Benedict of Carmichael, Calif., Shirley and Claude Tugmon of Enumclaw, Wash., Kathy and Mike Leno of Salem, Ore., and Corrine and Tony Haugen; his cousins, Bill Northey, John Northey, Angela Northey, Craig Odegard, Lynne Odegard, Chad Christensen, Jerry Christensen, Melanie Hoke, Mike Nardi, Janel Tugmon, Yvonne Tugmon, Stacy Tugmon, Abby Rutherford, Theresa Rutherford, Brandon O'Farrel, Denise O'Farrel, Jared Benedict, Michelle Benedict, Nicole Haugen, Erica Haugen and Toni Legler.

Memorial services will be held Friday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 S. 5th W. Memorials may be made to the Missoula Little Guy Wrestling Program care of Bob Hermes, P.O. Box 4827, Missoula, Mont., 59806.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Malletta Family of Funeral Homes Livingston Chapel, 224 W. Spruce.

Cecelia Helen Lyonais Barnhart

COLUMBIA FALLS - Cecelia Helen Lyonais Barnhart, 81, of Columbia Falls, died Saturday, Dec. 27, at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish.

Survivors include her husband Floyd of Columbia Falls; nine children and their spouses, Cherie and Doug Darsow, Mary and Don Reynolds, Linda and Bruce Reynolds, Koko (Frances) and Jerry Thomas and Jan and Dave Prier, all of Columbia Falls, John and Karen Barnhart of Bozeman, Kathy Yang of Tacoma, Wash., Patty and Dan Arlt of Portland, Ore., and Sandy and Roger Erickson of Kalispell; brother Zen Lyonais and sister Rosalie Stenslie, both of Kalispell; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday at Columbia Mortuary with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Richard's Catholic Church followed by burial at Glacier Memorial Gardens in Kalispell.

Jerry G. Bland

MISSOULA - Jerry G. Bland, 57, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at St. Patrick Hospital, while surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry was born July 25, 1940, in Orange, Texas, to Tracy and Ruby Lee Bland.

After serving in the U.S. Army for 15 years, he worked as a rig welder until 1990. Jerry and his family also owned and operated The Old Frontier Restaurant in Missoula, where Jerry was always on hand to pour coffee and give advice to friends.

He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Chapter 13. He also attended Bethel Baptist Church.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and sister Pam Tozen.

He is survived by his loving companion and best friend, Sheila Bland of Missoula; three children, Jacqueline Helt of Missoula and Charles and Edward Hawkins, both of Frenchtown; two brothers, Jimmy Bland of Orange, Texas, and Josh Bland of Deweyville, Texas; sister Sharon Ellis of Sulphur, La.; seven loving grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in Texas.

Visitation will be at Garden City Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 1 to 8 p.m.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 1601 S. Sixth St. W., with the Rev. Arthur Brust officiating. A reception will follow at the church.

Pallbearers will be Charles and Edward Hawkins, Dave Jorgesen, Cliff Evans, Raymond Neisinger and Clayton Christopherson. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Bland, Jimmy Bland, Johnny Ellis, Dick Magsteadt, Bob Magsteadt and John Stiegler.

Arrangements are under the direction of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.

Anna Ingeborg Harmon

MISSOULA - Anna Ingeborg Anderson Harmon was blessed with the call to heaven on Friday, Dec. 26, 1997. She had been a resident at Evergreen of Missoula for nearly a year.

Anna was born Sept. 22, 1916, to Carl and Ingeborg Anderson in Somers and spent her early life in the Swan Valley. Her family were homesteaders and Anna, with her five brothers and two sisters, attended Salmon Prairie School House, usually with only one other family for schoolmates.

She met Orville Harmon in the Swan when he came from Wisconsin to join his father and brother. They were married in December of 1933. Together they built a log cabin near Lion Creek and became the proud parents of two children, James Ray and Anna Mae. They later moved to the Missoula area and another daughter, Donna Rose, joined the family.

After Orville's death in 1963, Anna put herself through nursing school and became a licensed practical nurse. She was employed at St. Patrick Hospital until she retired in June of 1980.

Anna devoted herself to her family and gave lots of love. She was always ready to share a cup of coffee and a chat. Anna loved children, gardening and springtime. Huckleberries always made her smile.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orville, son James Ray, sister Etta Fox, all of her brothers, Arthur, Marcus, Vernon, Raymond and Robert, and grandson Craig Clothier.

She is survived by her sister Helen Brist of Missoula; daughters Anna Mae Crotty of Salem, Ore., and Donna Normandeau of Thompson Falls; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place under the direction and care of The Malletta Family of Funeral Homes, Sunset Chapel, 7405 Mullan Road.

Anna's memory will be celebrated at a memorial service, tentatively scheduled for the first part of January 1998 at the Sunset Chapel. The day and time of the service will be announced at a later date.

Edith Marie Blakeway

EVERSON, WASH. - Edith Marie Blakeway, 57, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the home of her daughter in Everson.

She was born May 22, 1940, in Bellingham, Wash., to Mervyn and Myrtle Armstrong, the second of their seven children.

In 1993, she moved to Hot Springs and worked as a waitress at Mary's Cafe, where she made many friends and will long be remembered for her quick wit and dry humor.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Cord Osborn; and her beloved grandchildren, Cassi and Jim, all of Everson; six brothers and sisters, all of the Seattle area; and many nieces and nephews. Survivors also include her uncle, Traverse Burdick, and aunt, Gloria Armstrong, of Deming, Wash., and her aunt, Sue Enos of Hot Springs.

A memorial gathering will be held at Mary's Cafe in Hot Springs on Saturday, Jan. 3, at 6 p.m.

Wilbur 'Web' Bowman

FLORENCE - Wilbur "Web" Bowman passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at his home in Florence.

Web was born May 2, 1923, in Brownstown, Ind., to Roy and Iona Bowman. Upon graduation from high school in 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and spent the next three years in the South Pacific. Honorably discharged in 1945, he returned to Indiana but after being a civilian for 16 months decided the Corps was where he wanted to be, and he reenlisted in the USMC in 1947.

In 1951, while stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif., he met Vi Mehmen who was serving in the Women Marines. They married on Feb. 22, 1952. Shortly after, Web was sent to Korea, where he again saw combat in 1952 to 1953 and later in the early months of the Vietnam War. He and his family retired in 1967 to the Missoula area, where he hoped to enjoy hunting, fishing and the outdoors he loved.

He worked four years at the Missoula Mercantile as manager of the receiving department. He left the "Merc" to take up ranching for the next five years in Moiese. In 1976, he gave up ranching and settled near Arlee to raise Arabian horses, and in 1992 retired to the Florence area, taking with him five of his beautiful horses to love and care for.

He is survived by his wife, Vi; three sons, Rex and his wife, Julie, of Denver, Gary of Missoula, and Glenn and his wife, Renee, of Corvallis; four grandchildren, Trevor, Christopher, Wesly and Alicia; sisters, Nancy Seegers of Polson, Edith Petty of St. Ignatius, Ilean Okuda and her husband, Hiro, of Clearfield, Utah; a brother, Garland, and his family of Crothersville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gail Fister officiating at the Malletta Family of Funeral Homes, Squire Chapel, 3035 S. Russell St.

The family suggests memorials to the charity of donor's choice.

Margaret J. 'Peg' Wagner

MISSOULA - Margaret J. "Peg" Wagner, rejoined her husband, Bill, with the Lord, Monday, December 29, 1997, at St. Patrick's Hospital surrounded by her six children.

Peg was born Nov. 29, 1919, in Scobey, to John B. and Margaret A. Kemp. She grew up on the family farm which was homesteaded by her father.

She attended St. Catherine College in St. Paul, Minn., and graduated from the University of Montana in 1940 at age 20 with a degree in business administration. She met her future husband, Bill Wagner, at the Grizzly-Bobcat football game in Butte. Their first date was attending Mass together. They were married Sept. 2, 1939, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Missoula.

After Bill's death in 1963, Peg took over management of Wagner's Home Furnishings and continued to raise and educate their six children. She successfully operated the store until her retirement in 1984. She was recognized and honored as one of Missoula's pioneer businesswomen. She was active in St. Anthony's Parish, Cenacle Prayer Group, Soroptomist Club, Republican Women's Club and Pachyderm Club, and was supportive of many charitable organizations in this community.

Peg is survived by her six children and their spouses, John and Joan Wagner of Missoula, Betty and Greg Jasperson of Missoula, Janice Lopach of Missoula, Toni and Franck Kolendich of Billings, Bill and Sherri Wagner of Missoula and Mike and Margaret Wagner, also of Missoula. She is also survived by her brothers, John B. Kemp of Prairie Village, Kan., and Robert W. Kemp of Williston, N.D., and her sisters, K.D. Boos and Doris Moreno of Missoula, 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, at the Malletta Family of Funeral Homes, Livingston Chapel, 224 W. Spruce St. in Missoula. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Resurrection at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Tremont and Woodford streets. Burial will take place at Old St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Peg's granddaughters and grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, Peg and her family have requested memorials be made to the Poverello Center, Missoula Food Bank, Camp Mak-A-Dream or the Chalice of Repose, care of St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

Arrangements are by the Malletta Family of Funeral Homes, Livingston Chapel, 224 W. Spruce St.

William H. 'Bill' Householder

CLINTON - William H. "Bill" Householder, 83, of Hall passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the home of his son in Clinton.

Bill was born on May 3, 1914, in Sargent, Mo., the son of Clarence E. and Cora Householder. He graduated in 1932 from Bankhead County High School in Cordova, Ala., and then worked in the family farm in Milo, Mo. He entered the U.S. Army in 1941, serving in the Aleutian Islands until being discharged in 1950. He then owned a service station in Milo. He then started working for the Standard Oil Co.

He moved first to Miles City and later to Missoula, where he retired in 1964. He purchased the Stockman Bar in Hall which he operated until 1978. He then operated the Valley Variety Store in Drummond until 1992 when he retired.

He is survived by his son, Donald, and his wife, Renee Householder, of Clinton; his daughter, Linda, and her husband, John Swanson, of Helena; grandchildren Bridget Swann and Michelle Swann of Seattle, John Swanson of Billings, Kim Cook and Heather Huston of Great Falls, Jill Aliperto, Nate Swanson and Cory Swanson of Helena; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, four brothers and three sisters.

Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Drummond. A reception follows at the Drummond Masonic Temple.

Cremation and arrangements are by the Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.

Lucas Remington Bosley

RONAN - Lucas Remington Bosley, age eight months, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, at St. Luke Community Hospital in Ronan.

He was born April 12, in Missoula to Clyde and Teresa Rubel Bosley.

Surviving are his parents, Clyde and Teresa Bosley of St. Ignatius; his brother, Jacob Bosley, and his sister, Genevieve Bosley, both of the family home; maternal grandparents Roland and Virginia Rubel of Charlo and paternal grandparents Bruce and Georgina Bosley of St. Ignatius; godparents John and Beverly Madden of Phoenix; maternal great-grandmother Mickey Priest of Ronan; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church with the Rev. Gus Schmidt as celebrant. Burial follows at the St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), in care of Community Medical Center, Missoula.

Arrangements are by Shrider's Mortuary in Ronan.
