Jerry Quenzer
Gerald “Jerry” Duane Quenzer, age 56, of Baker, Montana passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2002 in Billings, Montana.
Jerry was born on March 26, 1946 in Baker, the son of Albert and Florence (Hoenke) Quenzer. He was raised and attended schools in Baker, graduating from Baker High School in 1966. Following his graduation, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam Conflict. After his honorable discharge in 1970, he returned to Baker and worked at the Quenzer Ford Garage where he worked until 1986. He then began working as a mechanic for the Fallon County Shop. Jerry was forced to retire due to ill health and has remained in Baker ever since.
Jerry loved sports, playing football and basketball in his early years, and later becoming an avid golfer and bowler. He especially loved watching Dana play football and basketball. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and working on his home. He loved Christmas’ with his kids and grandkids. Jerry would never miss his morning walks and would often stop and visit with friends he saw along the way. He was member of the American Legion and the American Lutheran Church in Baker.
Jerry is survived by his son, Dana Quenzer and his fiancé Heather Hay of Dickinson, ND, his daughter, Monica and her husband Bob of Worland, WY, three grandchildren; Robby, Ryan and Brittney, a sister, Beverly Anderson of Baker, MT, a brother, Floyd Quenzer and his wife Michael of Thermopolis, WY, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Florence.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, December 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Prayer services will be held on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at the chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 9th at 10:00 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church in Baker. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Plevna. Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker is in charge of the arrangements.

Marjorie J. Cline
Marjorie Joan Cline, age 76, of Miles City formerly of Ekalaka passed away Sunday, December 22, 2002 at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Marjorie Joan Strait was born in 1926 to James Duane and Lulu Rafinberic Strait. She attended country school, Plevna School, and later moved to Ekalaka where she attended high school. While in Ekalaka, she met her first husband Robert George Metzenberg. He was killed on the Philippine Islands during World War II. One child, Georgie Joan Metzenberg, was born to this union. She then married Gene Loehding. They later divorced. Marjorie then married Roy M. Cline in 1950 and to this union four children were born: Marjorie, Sheila, Michael, and Robert. They made their home on the Cline Ranch south of Ekalaka where they spent many happy years. They later moved to Oregon and Wyoming where they lived during the summers and spent several winters in Arizona. After Roy's passing, Marjorie continued to travel south with her daughter Georgia, where she would meet her other daughters Marjorie and Sheila and many friends and relatives and spend the winter.
Marjorie enjoyed traveling and had many hobbies but she gained her greatest enjoyment from gatherings with family and friends. When Marjorie's cancer progressed, she moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming to live with her son Micheal and his wife Melody. As the cancer progressed further, she moved back to Miles City to be near her family and friends.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 1996, a sister, "Bessie", three brothers: Francis, Marion and Jimmy; her mother Lulu Meriou and her father James D. Strait. She is survived by three daughters: Georgia Wipf of Miles City, MT, Marjorie Saukerson of Miles City, MT, and Sheila Cline of Quartzsite, AZ; a son Micheal Cline of Cheyenne, WY; an adopted son Robert Cline of Cheyenne, WY; twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren; two sisters: Leota Elmore of Laurel and Mary Whitney of Miles City; Several brothers and sister-in-laws; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2002 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Ekalaka. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Ekalaka. Interment will follow in the Beaverlodge Cemetery in Ekalala. Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker and Ekalaka is in charge of the arrangements.

Ralph Bruski
Ralph Bruski, 70 of Ekalaka passed away Friday, December 27, 2002 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings. He was born February 28, 1932 at Baker, MT, the son of Julius and Gertrude Sikorski Bruski. He attended the Wills Elementary School until 1946 and then Sacred Heart High School in Miles City, graduating in 1950. Ralph enlisted in the US Army in 1953. He served at Camp Desert Rock, NV where he took part in the Teapot Series Atomic Test while there. He was honorably discharged in 1955 at Fort Ord, CA. The Big Hill was purchased with muster pay after his discharge. Ralph worked at the Baker Post Office from 1957 until 1963. He was married to Frances Cate at Miles City, MT on June 18, 1960. Ralph later successfully purchased several other parcels of land which became F & R Ranches. He continued to make his home at the ranch where he worked with both his sons. Ralph enjoyed telling stories and jokes. He was a man that stood by his righteousness and what he believed in. Ralph was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church where he was a lay preacher and taught religion class. His faith was his number one priority throughout his life. He was a 4th Degree with the Knights of Columbus, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #60, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, National Association of Atomic Veterans and served on the Ekalaka School Board for 11 years. The highlight of his life was being chosen to read at the tomb of St. Peter at the Vatican in Rome. He also read at St. Francis of Assissi on their wedding anniversary. Ralph was a hard working farmer and rancher whose life was centered around his family and grandchildren. Survivors include: His wife, Frances, Ekalaka; two sons: Joseph (Sonja) Bruski of Ekalaka and Mark (Georgia) Bruski of Ekalaka; three daughters: Anita (Lawrence) Bock on Sundance, WY, Joanne Bruski of Sundance, WY and Julie (Tim) Kuennen of Haltom City, TX; a sister, Lucile (Arnold) Kurtz of Alexandria, VA; two sisters-in-law, Jean Bruski of Willard, MT and Geraldine Bruski of Billings; and eleven grandchildren: Jeremiah, Brian, Chance, Augusta, Mary, Ryan, Sara, Marcell, Ben, Megan and Erica. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Louis in 1969; and two brothers: Sylvester Bruski and Raymond Bruski.
Earl T. White
Tony Earl White, 67, passed away January 23, 2002 at his home in Ekalaka, Montana. He was born on March 15, 1935 in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Tony and Nellie (Maxell) White. Earl grew up and attended schools in Iowa. He married Rena Rae Taylor, in the spring of 1956 at Buffalo, SD. To this union one son was born, Brett White, and two daughters RoxAnne & Loralee. They later divorced. He later married Mabel Welch in Ekalaka. Earl worked many years as a linotype operator for Tom & Gladys Taylor at the Ekalaka Eagle. Tom often told the story that Earl was one of the best linotype setters there was, this was when they still used lead for lettering in the printing of the paper. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting. Earl is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mel of Eureka, Montana. He is survived by his daughters, RoxAnne Huffman of Beach, North Dakota and Loralee Schroeder of Elko, NV; his son: Brett White also of Elko, NV; eleven grandchildren; Jamie, Jasalee, Jerica, Jaylun, Jory, Janae all of Elko, NV, JordAnne, Jade, Jayce all of Beach, ND, and Tony and Timothy White of Belgrade, MT; two brothers: Donald White & Leonard White of Onawa, Iowa. Earl's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation for his friends in Ekalaka and special friend and caretaker, Donna. Memorial Services will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 28th, at 11 AM at the Ekalaka Bible Church in Ekalaka.
LaVerne Schuh
Funeral Services for LaVerne Schuh, 78, of Baker, are Thursday, February 6, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at American Lutheran Church, Baker, MT. Interment will be Friday, February 7, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at Pisgah Cemetery, Gillette, WY.
Visitation is Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel of Baker, MT with a prayer service being said at 7:00 p.m.
LaVerne E. Schuh, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2003 at the SCCI Hospital in Mandan, ND following a long illness.
LaVerne was born April 7, 1924 in Krim, ND the daughter of Jacob and Pauline (Newman) Neuberger. LaVerne grew up and attended school in Krim, before marrying Roy Schuh on April 20, 1947, in Hazen, ND. They moved to Baker in 1965. She was employed at the Fallon Medical Complex for 31 years. After retiring, LaVerne enjoyed volunteering with the Pink Ladies and attending Senior Center events. She was a dedicated member of the American Lutheran Church.
LaVerne is survived by her husband, Roy; three sons: Ronald (Sue) of Dickinson, ND, Donald and Sherald (Betty) both of Gillette, WY; a daughter, LaRay (Kenny) Markve of Gillette, WY; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. LaVern is preceded in death by her parents, two infant children, a brother and a sister.
Sylvia McCamish
Sylvia McCamish, 98, of Baker died on Sunday, February 2, 2003, at Dahl Memorial Nursing Home, Ekalaka. Funeral Services are Friday, February 7, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Lutheran Church, Baker. Interment will follow in Beaverlodge Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel of Baker.
Sylvia McCamish, 98, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2003 at the Dahl Memorial Healthcare in Ekalaka.
Sylvia was born January 2, 1905 in Alzada, MT the oldest daughter of Thomas and Rosa (Wise) Johnston of Ridgway, MT. Sylvia attended the country grade school and graduated from Carter County High School, Class of 1924. In October of 1924, she was united in marriage to Herbert J. McCamish at Miles City. The first years of their married life they worked for her uncle, John Johnston. They then had a contract rural mail route for four years until they purchased the Carmack place at Ridgway. Here they lived, ranched, and raised their family. They retired in 1969 and moved to Ekalaka to make their home. Sylvia was an avid baseball fan and watched her husband; children and grandchildren participate in the sport. She was also a long time Chicago Cubs fan. She was fortunate to enjoy good health and had never been hospitalized until the age of 92 years; she fell and broke her hip. Sylvia has been a resident of Dahl Memorial Nursing Home since that time.
Sylvia is survived by her sister, Myrtle Yates of Ekalaka; her children: Maxine (Bud) Dally of Pinehurst, ID, Herb Jr. (Georgetta) McCamish of Baker, Tom (Mary) McCamish, Areatha Penn, both of Ekalaka, and Rose Ann (Bill) Harfst of Elizabeth, CO; sixteen grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren and many other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Sr. in 1975; daughter, Fern Way; sisters: Vera Dyer and Cecil Myles; grandson, Casey Penn; and three son-in-laws: Billy Gergen, Ewald Klevgaard and Leroy "Bud" Penn.
Doris Stanhope
Funeral Services for Doris Stanhope, 78, of Baker will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2003 at the American Lutheran Church, Baker. Burial will be at a later date at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
Doris Flor Stanhope passed away suddenly at her home, Monday, February 3, 2003.
Doris was born December 4, 1924 in Marmarth, ND, the daughter of Charles and Rosella Mae (Hughes) Bock. She grew up and attended school in Marmarth and graduated in 1941. She then began teaching there in Marmarth. On May 16, 1942, she married Newton Flor in Ekalaka, MT. Just two days later, Newt was drafted by the US Army for World War II. They then headed for Mississippi for nearly four years, after the war they returned to Marmarth until moving to Baker in 1960. Newton passed away on September 27, 1980. Doris was later married to Donald Stanhope. He passed away in 1998. Over the years, she was very involved with the Fallon Medical Complex-Pink Ladies, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Doris loved reading; she could often be found reading to the residents at the Nursing Home. Doris also enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center and taking care of Alvina Morton. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress; she loved to crochet and made many beautiful baby blankets & afghans for friends and family. Doris will be remembered by many for the delicious, home baked pies that she provided the community over the years. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Doris is survived by her three children: Susie Evans of Billings, Merri (Don) Beck of Baker, and James Flor of Miles City; a sister, Aileen Carlson of Bismark, ND; ten grandchildren: Susie's children; Tara, Ryan & Michael Wilcken, Merri's children; Andrea & Brandon Buerkle, Michelle (Jason) Moser, Nicholas & Nathan Beck, and Jim's children; Cody & Nicholas Flor and Jared Carlson; and two great-grandchildren: Jonathan Gratwohl and Dawn Wilcken.
She is preceded in death by husbands, Newton Flor and Donald Stanhope and a sister, Leona Swedlund.
Evelyn Hedges
Evelyn Hedges, 76, of Ekalaka passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003 at the Dahl Memorial Health Care in Ekalaka. Cremation has taken place.

Funeral Services for Anna Schopp 93, of Baker will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2003, 11:00 am in the Evengical Free Church, Plevna. A Prayer Service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2003, 7:30 pm in the Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Baker. Burial will be in the Plevna Community Cemetery.
