Dick O’Brien
Richard Francis (Dick) O’Brien, 67, died on Jan. 20, 2003, at Minot, N.D.
He was born on Jan. 1, 1936, at Bismarck, N.D., to Raymond James and Phyllis Grace Nelson O’Brien.
Dick grew up in the Bismarck, Velva and Ruso areas of North Dakota, where he received his education.
In 1952, Dick moved to Libby where he worked for the U.S. Forest Service and was later employed in the retail division of J. Neils Lumber Company.
He married Charlotte Bowker at Libby on May 27, 1956.
They moved in 1959 to Minot, where Dick was an independent contractor and built homes for 25 years.
They built the Robindale Trailer Court and managed it from 1962-1972.
Dick was project manager for the Minot Air Force Base housing contracts and worked for various companies throughout the years. He retired in 1998.
A member of the Eagles Lodge, Dick served on several committees, including the ritual team, and held several offices in the lodge.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and brother James O’Brien.
Survivors include his wife Charlotte, Minot; son William James O’Brien and his wife Olgs, Minot; daughter Linda Diane Morrison and her husband Nicholas, sister Patricia Carpenter, Wadena, Minn., and grandchildren Andrew and Paul Widme,
Services were conducted on Jan. 23, at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in Minot, with the Rev. Don Andrews officiating.
Cari Flory was vocalist and guitarist and selections included “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art.
Honorary pallbearers were his family and friends.
Burial took place on Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Ruso Lutheran Cemetery in Ruso, N.D.

Dr. Leonard Brewer
Dr. Leonard Brewer, 96, longtime Missoula resident and the father of former Libby music teacher Bert Brewer, died Jan. 31, 2003, at Beehive Homes in Missoula.
He was preceded in death by his wife Martha and son Gordon.
Survivors include son Dr. Albert Brewer and his wife Gay Garard-Brewer, Oceanside, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Meg and Joe Angell, Helena; granddaughter Martha Brewer, Oceanside; grandsons John Arvish, Missoula, and Brian Arvish, Cedar City, Utah, and great-grandson Sung Ross Hong, Oceanside. Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the First Presbyterian Church in Missoula.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospital or to Partners in Home Care Hospice, 2687 Palmer St., Suite B, Missoula, MT 59808.
Arrangements are under direction of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.

Richard Kenelty
Richard H. Kenelty, 72, died Jan. 30, 2003, at his home near Libby.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1930, at Libby, to Richard Garth and Genevieve Broulliard Kenelty.
Richard attended Manicke School and Libby High School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War.
Following his honorable discharge, Richard lived in southern California for several years, employed by the Ford Motor Company.
He returned to Libby where he worked as a packer and laborer for the U.S. Forest Service, retiring following 25 years’ service.
He continued to live on the Kenelty family homestead.
Richard was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1548.
Preceded in death by his parents, Richard is survived by his sister Leanne Braatan and her husband Mike, Vader, Wash.; brother Jerry Kenelty and his wife Marilyn, Libby, and several cousins including Keith Kenelty and Loren Kujawa of Libby, as well as nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home Chapel.

Mike Miller
Former Libby resident Frederick Micheal (Mike) Miller, 64, of Corvallis, died on Jan. 30, 2003, at Valley View Estates in Hamilton.
He was born to Carl and Ruth Miller on Dec. 29, 1938, at Monroe, Wash., but lived most of his life at Whitefish and Libby.
He worked for the Great Northern and Burlington Northern railroad and spent his retirement years in Arizona and the Bitterroot Valley.
Mike married Ilean Heitzenroder in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Gloria.
Survivors include his wife Ilean, Corvallis; daughter Colleen and her husband Dan, sons Max, Spokane, and Joe and his wife Cindy, Libby; brother William Miller in California; sisters Roselie Sanders in California and Kay Vinson, Libby; and four grandchildren.
He is also survived by Ilean’s children, Rick Heitzenroder, Mike and Lorie Heitzenroder and Sam and Melanie Heitzenroder and her 10 grandchildren.
Visitation was from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at the Daly-Leach Chapel.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Daly-Leach Chapel with Pastor Stephen VanGilder officiating.
Private family interment followed at the Victor Cemetery.

Georgia Peterson
Georgia A. Peterson, 93. of Coram, died on Jan. 30, 2003, at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital in Libby.
A lifelong resident of the Flathead Valley, Georgia was born on June 3, 1909, at Columbia Falls, to George and Gussie Green, pioneer homesteaders in the Coram area.
She married Phil Peterson in 1927.
They lived at Bigfork and Kalispell before moving to Coram in 1940.
Georgia is remembered for participating in the shooting of a rogue grizzly bear near Coram and for her love of fishing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Phillip in 1964, and son George in 1986.
Survivors include daughter Phyllis (Pete) Bertelsen, Kalispell; son Jerald Peterson, Woodinville, Wash.; sister Daisy Deneen, Kalispell; brothers Don Green, Kalispell, and Hubert Green, Eureka, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing is from 1-5 p.m.on Tuesday, at the Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Columbia Falls Mortuary with burial to follow in Glacier Memorial Gardens Cemetery near Kalispell.

Henry Stump
Henry James Stump, 94, of Libby, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital.
He was born on Sept. 3, 1908, in Johnstown, Pa.
An orphan at the age of four, Henry went to live at the Hershey Industrial School in Hershey, Pa.
After graduating from the school in 1925, Henry worked for the Hershey Band for 25 years, taking college classes in his spare time to earn a four-year degree in accounting.
He married Martha Smith on Dec. 18, 1985 in Alaska.
They moved to Libby in 1999.
Henry enjoyed bowling and was a charter member of the Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife Martha, Libby; daughters Shirley Ebersole, Catonsville, Md., Audrey Woods, Coatsville, Pa., and Diane Weigard, Paimyra, Pa., half-sisters Dotty Mosser, Camphill, Pa., and Jessie Bressler, Marysville, Pa., seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; step-children Terry Smith, Nenilchick, Alaska; Tami Price, Soidotiya, Alaska; Sandra Crame, Troy, and Gayle Allen, Portland, Me., 14 step-grandchildren and 20 step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home Chapel.
