Jean Hunter
Former Libby resident Jean Mary (Chapman) Hunter, 83, of Ellensburg, Wash., died on Oct. 8, 1999, just three days before her 84th birthday.
She was born on Oct. 11, 1915, at Red Lodge, to Herman and Ida Cannon Chapman.
Jean married Lyle A. Hunter on Dec. 19, 1936, and they lived in Montana, where Lyle was employed with the U.S. Forest Service.
Following Lyle’s retirement from the Forest Service in 1973, the Hunters moved to Ellensburg to be near their daughter and son-in-law.
After Lyle died in 1976, Jean devoted her time to her grandchildren and volunteer work with RSVP at The Friendly Place and the Kittitas County Health Department. She also enjoyed trips with the Silver Circle.
Survivors include daughter Judy (Malcolm) Blair of Ellensburg; sisters Joyce Schrumpf and Betty Cowger, Billings, grandchildren Kristen and Jeff Blair and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation and private memorial services were arranged by the Kittitas Valley Funeral Options.
Memorials may be made to the Class of 1961, Libby High School Scholarship Fund, in care of Peggy Zirkle, Box 691, Libby, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Adelina Trevino
Adelina F. Trevino, 86, of Libby, died on Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at the Libby Care Center.
She was born on Nov. 10, 1912, at Sabinas, Mexico, to Julio and Juanita Cadena Flores.
Raised amd educated in Corpus Christi, Texas, Adelina married I.V. Trevino at Alice, Texas, in 1937.
She worked for the Foster Brothers Department Stores as manager of several different departments.
Adelina retired in 1970 and moved to Libby in 1985.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was a devoted Roman Catholic.
Survivors include her husband, I.V. Trevino, Libby; son Robert Trevino and his wife Lila, San Antonio, Texas; daughter Lillian Martin and her fiancee Ray Baenen, Libby; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Erin, Lori, Leslie, Lisa and Lamar, and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the City of Libby Cemetery, under direction of Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
Jim Henson
James (Jim) O. Henson, 66, of Norman, Okla., died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Norman Regional Hospital.
He was born on May 17, 1933, at Stella, Okla., to Grace and John Henson.
The retired owner-operator of a trucking company, Jim enjoyed gardening and yard work and was an exceptional hunter and marksman. He also enjoyed fishing with family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Archie Henson.
Survivors include his wife Joeann and his mother, Grace Patterson, of Norman; brothers Lester (Bill) Henson, Norman, and John Henson, Troy; sister Faye Ruth Raney, Norman; daughters June and her husband Craig Lind, Norman; Judy and her husband Jim Heath, Little Rock, Ark.; Becky and her husband Barry Lowe and Debbie and her husband Willie Hesterman, all of Terrel, Tex.; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends.
Graveside services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 8, at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman with Matt Day officiating.
Arrangements were under direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.
Dorothy Lampton
Longtime Libby resident Dorothy E. Lampton, 82, a retired registered nurse, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Brendan House in Kalispell.
She was born March 1, 1917, at St. Anthony, Idaho, where she grew up and attended high school. She graduated from Sacred Heart School of Nursing at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane in 1938 with a nursing degree.
Dorothy moved to Libby soon after graduating from Sacred Heart and was employed for many years as a nurse and as director of nurses at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital.
Before retiring, Dorothy also worked as office nurse for Dr. W.T. Matthews and Dr. Paul Seifert.
Nursing allowed Dorothy to touch the lives of many people in the community where she will be missed.
She enjoyed fishing, hunting birds and staying at the family cabin at Crystal Lake.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Ida Jane McGill in 1981 and her husband, Sterling Lampton, in 1987.
Survivors include daughter Franci Anthony and her husband Frank, Whitefish; nephew Marc McGill and his wife Peggy, Libby; brother-in-law Bob Lampton and sister-in-law Betty Luscher, both of Libby, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the City of Libby Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Libby High School Scholarship Fund.
Arrangements are under direction of Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
Sabrina McMillan
Sabrina Lynn McMillan, 27, of Libby, died Nov. 7, 1999, in a Seattle hospital.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1972, in Libby to Howard LeRoy and Carman McMillan.
Sabrina grew up in Libby, attended Libby schools and was a student at Lincoln County Campus, FVCC, in Libby.
She is survived by her mother Carman and step-father Ed Feak, sisters Tina McMillan, Libby, and Corina Whitaker and her husband Bobby, Libby, and nieces KayWin, Kasey and Jessica, all of Libby.
Sabrina was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
James Patterson
James Arlie Patterson, 72, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at his home in Troy.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1927, at Maud, Okla., where he was raised and educated.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army when he was 17 years old and served during World War II.
After working in construction for a time, James found employment with Moyie Springs Lumber Co., and Georgia Pacific Lumber Co., from 1954-1974.
Since that time he has worked splitting cedar. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include sons Steve Patterson, Troy, and James Patterson, Stockton, Calif., and daughters Pamala Patterson, Creston, B.C., Canada, and Lori Patterson, Walla Walla, Wash.
Private family services will be held.
Local arrangements are by the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
Mina Larson Weter
Private graveside services were conducted at the City of Libby Cemetery this summer for Mina Larson Weter, 95, who died on April 26, 1998, in Redmond, Ore.
She was born on June 8, 1903, at Stanley, Wis., the third of six children born to Ben and Barbro Larson.
The family moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, before arriving in Libby in 1914, by way of Henderson.
Ben Larson worked in the lumber industry at these locations.
Mina attended Libby schools and graduated from Libby High School with the Class of 1921. She enrolled at the Mayo Clinic’s nurses school system in Rochester, Minn., where she earned a nursing degree.
She worked at the Libby Hospital and as school nurse in the Libby school system.
She enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving as a lieutenant junior grade in the Naval Nurses Corps in the Guadalcanal area of the Solomon Islands in the Pacific Theater.
After the war, Mina worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs throughout the western states.
She was working at the Indian Affairs hospital at Browning when she met and married O.B. (Ben) Weter in September 1949.
The couple farmed on 300 acres near Lebanon, Ore., and Mina worked at the Lebanon Hospital.
After retiring they moved to Redmond.
Survivors include her husband Ben, son David and his wife Jody, sister Margaret Kreiner, a grandson, two granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
In attendance at graveside services conducted by Pastor Paul Wheeler of the Assembly of God Church were family members Don and Phebe Larson, Troy, Idaho; Melinda Larson, Spokane; Richard Larson, San Mateo, Calif.; Ben Weter, David Weter and Brent Weter, all of Redmond, and Patricia Midyett, Ronald Pedersen and Robert Pederson, all of Libby.
