Oliver Stone
Longtime Troy resident Oliver F. Stone, 76, died at his home on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000.
He was born on June 16, 1924, in Williston, N.D., to Flavian and Carrie Stone.
After serving with the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946, and spending a year in California, Stone moved to Troy in 1947.
He married Betty Russell of Troy on March 12, 1949, and worked for J. Neils Lumber Company before starting his own gypo logging company.
He worked for Lincoln County for eight years and then in various construction jobs until retiring in 1983.
Stone enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty; brothers Elmer and Delmer Corey; his parents, and a grandson, Robert Stone.
Survivors include four children, Dennis Stone, Elko, Nev.; Laurel Rose, Grand Mesa, Ariz.; Clinton Stone, Troy and Oliver Stone Jr., Carlin, Nev.; sisters Louella Bailey, Palm Desert, Calif., and Evelyn Anderson, Troy, and eight grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at a later daate.
Arrangements are by Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.

Lee Ann Morris
Former Troy resident Lee Ann Morris, 63, of Kalispell, died Oct. 21, 2000, in the Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
She was born on May 15, 1937, at Long Beach, Calif., to Cecil and Ethel Morris.
She grew up in California where she received her education.
Lee Ann married Willie Sulzmann in 1960. They had one daughter and were later divorced.
Lee Ann started several businesses in California before moving to Troy in 1992. She moved to Kalispell in 1994, after suffering a stroke.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cecile and David McRill and their children Matt and Coel, all of Troy.
A memorial service will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday at the Northwest Missionary Baptist Church, 501 Two Mile Drive in Kalispell.

Max Offenbecher
Max Allen Offenbecher, 64, the father of a Libby man, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
He was born on Nov. 24, 1935, at Union City, Mich.
He served as a missile technician with the U.S. Navy for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife Diana, Wichita Falls; daughters Rhonda Denton and Tammy Goodwin, Angola, Ind., sons Aaron Offenbecher, Wichita Falls; Rex Offenbecher, Libby, and Todd Offenbecher, Phoenix, Ariz., and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time.

Danny Joe Smith
Former Libby resident Danny Joe Smith, 31, of Missoula, died on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000.
He was born on Aug. 8, 1969, in Libby, to Terry and Barbara Smith.
Danny was raised and educated at Libby.
He married Ramona Dillman on Nov. 16, 1995, at Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and they moved to Missoula in June 1997.
Danny enjoyed bowling and outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing.
He was always ready to help anyone in need.
His grandparents and several uncles preceded Danny in death.
Survivors include his wife Ramona, Missoula; step-daughters Jennifer Murer, Missoula; Misty Norstebon, Great Falls; Shannon Norstebon and Debra Norstebon, both of Missoula; step-grandchildren Shelby Murer, Brandon Murer, Mersadies Bates and Kali Tucker; his parents, Terry and Barbara Smith, Libby; sisters Teresa Smith, Libby, and Kayla Smith and her son Hunter, Spokane; grandparents Ralph and Frances Cole, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; nephews OJ Dillman, Missoula, and Shea Johnson, Great Falls; niece Nikki Johnson and her children Anthony and Trey, all of Libby, and several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
Visitation was from 4-7 p.m on Friday at the Garden City Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the City of Libby Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made in Danny’s name to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory, Missoula, and Nelson & Vial Funeral Home of Libby.

James Teschler
James H. Teschler, 46, who attended Libby schools, died Oct. 31, 2000, at his home.
He was born on Nov. 5, 1953, at Fort Benton, to Howard and Phyllis Teschler.
Jim attended grade schools in Libby and in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he graduated from Western Hills High School in 1971.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1974, taking time to travel throughout Europe before returning to Cincinnati.
He later graduated from the University of Cincinnati.
Survivors include his mother Phyllis, Nampa, Idaho; his wife Deborah, Antioch, Calif.; sisters Linda Hill, Crow Agency; Ellen Howard, Nampa, and many other relatives and friends from coast to coast.
Cremation has been handled by the Neptune Society.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Contra Costa Foundation, 2051 Harrison Street, Concord, CA 94520 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Bill Brinegar
William E. (Bill) Brinegar, 75, of Libby, died Jan. 27, 2001, at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital.
He was born on Nov. 28, 1925, at Strawberry, Ark., to Elijah Doyle and Stella Mae Moore Brinegar.
Bill was raised and educated in Missouri and served with the U.S. Merchant Marines and later in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He came to the Libby area in 1953, and married Ruth Pondelick of Libby on July 13, 1954.
Bill worked for the U.S. Forest Service, the J. Neils Lumber Company, Bache Brothers Logging and as maintenance engineer at the Lincoln County Courthouse.
He was a 34-year member of the American Legion, a life member of the National Rifle Association and belonged to Lumber & Sawmill Workers Local 2581.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth in 1984 and by a brother.
Survivors include son Scott and his wife Tammy, Winnemucca, Nev.; brother Presley Brinegar and his wife Peggy, Ashland, Mo.; sister Phoebe Wallace, Hartsburg, Mo., and grandchildren Timothy and Casey.
Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the City of Libby Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mildred Siefke Stevens
Former Libby resident Mildred Siefke Stevens, 80, of Kalispell, died on Jan. 27, 2001.
She was born on Feb. 12, 1920, in Streeter, N.D., to Leslie and Margaret Hays.
The family moved to the Seattle area in 1933.
While working in the shipyards in Seattle she met Paul Siefke of Libby and they were married in 1942.
They raised their family in Libby.
In 1967 Mildred married George Stevens and after his death in 1971 she moved to Kalispell.
She worked in the high school laundry room at Libby and at the Kalispell Regional Hospital in Kalispell.
Mildred was creative and handy with her hands. She loved to sing, yodel and play the guitar. Other hobbies were quilting, sewing, drawing and collecting things. Her dog Widgett was a special friend and companion for more than 17 years.
To her many nieces and nephews Mildred was their favorite Auntie Midge.
Her great sense of humor and quick smile will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her children, Tom Siefke, Missoula; Joy Galloway, Stanwood, Wash.; Gayle Parker, Dayle Mercier and Steve Siefke, all of Kalispell; Patricia Graham, Heron, and Alan Siefke, Rapid City, Mich.; and three sisters, Nellie, Ida and twin sister Margaret.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Bartholomew officiating.
Cremation will follow services.
Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
