Evelyn Price
Former Libby resident Evelyn Price, 91, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, in Whitefish.
She was born on May 15, 1908, at Rockford, Wash., and married Charlie A. Price on Nov. 22, 1932, in Spokane.
They moved to Libby in 1982.
Survivors include daughter Charlene Winter, five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Wayne Wooldridge
Wayne Curtis Wooldridge, 61, of Libby, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, the victim of a house fire at his residence.
He was born Oct. 7, 1937, at Mariposa, Calif., to Eric and Ruth Johnson Larson.
Wayne graduated from Mariposa High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959. While reporting to a new duty station in England he suffered permanent disabling injuries when his transport aircraft went down.
He moved to Libby in 1974, raised two children here, and found Libby to be the place he was meant to be.
A man with an independent spirit, Wayne was most at home in the outdoors. He lived to hunt and fish and his perseverence was an inspiration to his family and friends.
Despite his own needs and limited physical abilities, Wayne always found a way to serve the needs of others. His smile and sense of humor will be missed.
Survivors include son Wilbert Larson and his wife Gale, Palmer, Alaska; daughter Wanda Belle Burkhalter and her husband Jeff, Wolf Creek, Ore; brothers Wilbert A. Wooldridge, Boise, Idaho; Dale Wooldridge, Elko, Nev., and Charles Wooldridge; sisters Joyce Bluthardt, Las Vegas, Nev., and Crystal Dompier, Grants Pass, Ore., and 10 grandchildren.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Local arrangements are by the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
Keith Clairmont
Keith Clairmont, 71, of Libby, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital.
He was born on Aug. 28, 1927, at Polson, to Ernest V. and Olive Josephine Dupuis Clairmont.
Raised and educated at Polson, Keith served with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Caldwell in the Pacific during World War II
He married Delma Bellon on Oct. 15, 1952, at the St. Ignatius Mission.
The family lived at Polson for many years and Keith worked as an industrial engineer throughout northwest Montana and the western states.
He and his wife moved their family to Libby in 1969 and Keith worked on the Libby Dam Project. He continued working as an electrician on local and regional construction projects until retiring in 1979.
Keith was a proud member of the Confederated Salish-Kootenai Tribe, and in later years the proud and doting grandfather to 15 grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Joseph Parish; the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 768.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dillon in 1998, and sister Joan Noel earlier this month.
Survivors include his wife Delma, Libby; six children, Rod Clairmont and his wife Marj, Goldendale, Wash.; Mike Clairmont and his wife Geri, Bemidji, Minn.; Dan Clairmont and his wife Elaine, Polson; and Cheryl LeCount and her husband Bob; Jeanne Robertson and her husband Jeff and Brenda Nelson and her husband Jim, all of Libby.
He is also survived by sisters Kay Neiss and Rhonda Swaney, both of Polson, 15 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary and Parish vigil services were Monday at 7 p.m. at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Ray Hannigan as celebrant.
Interment services, with military honors, followed at the City of Libby Cemetery.
Judith MacAskill
Judith Marie MacAskill, 44, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999, at her home in Whitefish, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on Sept. 24, 1954, in Kalispell, spent her early years in Libby, and graduated from Hellgate High School in Missoula in 1972.
She married Donald J. MacAskill on Feb. 16, 1974, in Missoula.
In 1989 they moved to Whitefish, where Judy was employed as a pre-school special education aide at Muldown School.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Whitefish and involved in many church activities.
Judy is remembered for her special talents as a quilter, carver, gardener and cook. Simple pleasures were important to her and small occasions became celebrations of life.
Survivors include her husband Don in Whitefish; daughter Melanie MacAskill, Whitefish, and son Don A. MacAskill, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; mother Carol M. Olson, Kalispell; father Donald E. Olson, Stevensville; sisters Karen S. Foss, Libby; Kathleen Jovin, Escondida, Calif.; Janice L. Damion, Spokane, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends and co-workers.
Memorial services will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Whitefish.
Arrangements are under direction of the Austin Funeral Home in Whitefish.
Myrtle Morrow
Former Libby resident Myrtle (Miki) Lenore Morrow, 71, of Longview, Wash., died Aug. 25, 1999, at St. John Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 3, 1927, at Arden, Wash., to Samuel and Effie Lewis Morrow.
She moved to Longview three months ago from Libby.
Myrtle worked as a secretary for the Department of Labor and Industry. She was a member of Toastmasters and enjoyed hunting and fishing. She was happy with her life and loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lorain Morrow, son Robert Lynds and sister Peggy Wentworth.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-lw Michael and Donna Lynds, Longview; brother Gerald Morrow, Sequim, Wash., and sister Lucille Schouten in Canada, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place under direction of the Columbia Funeral Service in Longview and private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Joan Torgison
Joan L. Torgison, 68, of Libby, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Libby on July 15, 1931, to Walter and Geneva Kemp.
Raised and educated in Libby, Joan graduated from Libby High School with the Class of 1949.
She married Donald Torgison in 1951.
Joan worked at Bolyard’s Superette in Libby, and she and her husband Don operated the Torgison Oil Company for more than 30 years. In recent years she and her husband owned and operated Torgy’s Casino.
The Torgisons raised their family in Libby where Joan worked in the various organizations and activities in which her children were involved. She was also a longtime active member of the Libby Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband Don, at the family home in Libby; son Walt Torgison and special friend Joni, and son Dan Torgison and his wife Diana, all of Libby; brother Bill Kemp, also of Libby, one grandchild, two step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home with Pastor Cal Noble officiating.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Libby Volunteer Fire Department.
