Toni Riley
Libby native Darlene J. (Toni) Riley, 54, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on Nov. 9, 1944, at Libby, to Mark and Grace Burton Hall.
Toni attended Libby schools and on Dec. 8, 1961, she married Vern Riley in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
Toni had been a member of David Thompson Search and Rescue and an emergency medical technician with the Libby Volunteer Ambulance since 1985.
She was a reserve deputy with the sheriff’s office for five years and worked for a labor union for three years, until she became ill.
Toni also worked at Asa Wood School for two years as a teacher’s aide. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, hunting, camping and riding horses. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister.
Survivors include her husband Vern, Libby; sons Mike and his wife Peggy, San Diego, Calif.; Billy and his wife Ramey, Marysville, Wash., and Chuck of Libby; daughter Laurie Kempter, Libby; mother Grace Emch, Williams, Calif.; brother Monty Hall, Hot Springs, and sisters Jean Carlson, Porterville, Calif.; Pat Weaver, Williams, and Barbara Dimmick, Corning, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Monika, Christian, Joshua and Jackie.
Private family visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Libby Christian Church.

John Evans
Former Libby resident John Daniel Evans, 60, died Dec. 2, 1998, at Reno, Neb.
Born on Dec. 28, 1937, in Montana, John was preceded in death by his parents John Robinson Evans and Gladys Irene Evans Adams and brothers Jim and Paul Evans.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Evans, Forks, Wash.; seven children, John, Bakersfield, Calif.; Joseph, Boulder; Charlie, Forks; William, Palmyra, Tenn.; Brett, Austin, Nev.; Joy Rountree, Bakersfield and Amanda Evans, Austin.
He is also survived by six brothers, Ed, Bradshaw, Neb.; Fred, Spokane; Ernie, Libby; Ivan, Hasty, Ark.; David, Dix, Neb., and Marvin, Kalispell; three sisters, Carol Schmitt, Libby; Dixie Ramsey, Dix, and Mavis Fisher, Bushnell, Neb., four granddaughters, three great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, at the City of Libby Cemetery.
Friends are welcome to gather at the Ernie Evans residence five miles out on the Pipe Creek Road after the graveside services.

Angie Reedy
Angeline M. (Angie) Reedy, 80, of Libby, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
She was born on May 9, 1918, at Comertown, to George and Ella Johnson.
Angie came to Libby with her family as a child and attended Libby schools.
She worked at the Kootenai Laundry and was on the housekeeping staff of St. John’s Lutheran Hospital for more than 30 years.
She married Stanley J. (Stu) Reedy on Feb. 26, 1938, at Libby.
Angie enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and needlework and was a life-long member of St. Joseph Parish.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stu Reedy in 1990; her first husband John Herbst in 1937; her father, step-father, three brothers and a sister.
Survivors include daughters Joan Kershner and her husband Dan, Winnemucca, Nev.; Myrna Pilny and her husband Charles (Chick), Libby, and Shirley Johnsrud and her husband David, Galena, Alaska; sons Bennett Reedy, Omaha, Neb., and James Reedy and his wife Laurie, Kalispell; her mother Ella Johnson Ayotte, Libby; sisters Florine Lawrence, Bend, Ore.; Evelyn Poling, Libby; Catherine Bitterman, Noxon, and Rosalie Ingrum South, Libby; brother Robert Johnson and sister-in-law, Madeline Johnson, of Libby, 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was from 1-6 p.m. Monday at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home, followed by a parish vigil service and rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Ray Hannigan as celebrant.
Interment services followed at the City of Libby Cemetery.

Audrey Watt
Audrey D. Watt, 64, of Libby, died of cancer on Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital.
She was born Feb. 11, 1934, at Sherwood, N.D., to George and Edna Ritter Miller.
Audrey attended school in Sherwood before moving to Big Bend, N.D., where she met William Watt.
They were married on Sept. 25, 1949, at Glendive.
The Watts moved to Libby in 1951.
Audry was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, gardening, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband William Watt, Libby; sons Willis Watt and his wife Verna, Libby; Robert Watt, also of Libby; Bud Watt and his wife Darla, Polson; daughters Connie Thacker and her husband Ellery, Libby; Gerry Abbott and her husband Sidney, West Paris, Me., and Sharon Hale and her husband Cal, Glendale, Ariz.; step-father Frank Bonneau and his wife Helen, Libby; brother George Miller, Angles Camp, Calif.; sister Kathy Bonneau, Libby, 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Nelson and Vial Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home Chapel.

Mildred Johnson
Mildred Florence Johnson, 83, of Libby, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at the Libby Care Center.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1916, at Lead, S.D., to Walter and Catherine (Katie) Touhy Kelloniemi.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Jack Johnson of Lead.
Survivors include sons Billy Simon in South Dakota; Oren Farris and his wife Deena, Libby, and Mike Johnson, Libby; daughters Kathryn Farris, Miles City, and Sharon Tiensvold and her husband Gayle, Alliance, Neb.; sister-in-law Alva Rantata, Seattle; brother-in-law Stanley Sorenson, Rapid City, S.D.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, S.D.
Local arrangements are by Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.

Ernest Rowley
Former Libby resident Ernest LaVal (Val) Rowley, 60, of Golconda, Nev., died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1999, at Washoe Medical Center in Nevada.
He was born on June 11, 1939, at Choteau, to Ernest N. and Thora Shelmerdine Rowley.
Val served in the National Guard and worked as a truck driving for a mining company. He was also a training specialist for transystems.
A resident of Libby for more than 30 years, Val had lived at Golconda for the past two and a half years.
He was preceded in death by daughter Dawn Rowley in 1987,
Survivors include his wife Connie, Golconda; sons Stacy L. Rowley of Libby and Tyler J. Rowley, Golconda; daughter Connie Earon, Post Falls, Idaho; brother Clyde Rowley in Texas and sister Lynn Purkett in Montana.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Libby.
Local arrangements are by the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.

Sharon Rynders
Sharon Alice Rynders, 58, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at her home in Libby after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on June 20, 1941, at Conrad, to Frank and Evelyn Myers.
Sharon lived in Great Falls; Sacramento, Calif., and Libby. She worked for many years with the Cal Life Insurance Company in Sacramento and as a para-legal for a Sacramento law firm.
A loving and caring person, Sharon continually put the needs of others first.
Survivors include daughters Sandra, Sacramento; Kathy Rynders, Beaverton, Ore., and Colleen Rynders, Reno; brothers Dennis Myers, Sacramento; James Myers, Libby, and John Myers, Yakima, Wash.; three grandchildren, Curtis Towse and Sarah Wright, Sacramento, and Armanda Rynders, Beaverton; nephews Frank, Dan and Mike Myers, Libby; Joshua and Zachery Myers, Yakima, and niece, Christine Baroch, Great Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A vigil service was conducted at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Conrad and funeral mass was conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michaels.
Interment followed in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Conrad, under direction of the Pondera Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Home Health at 350 Louisiana Ave., Libby, in memory of Sharon.
