Curtis Clay Hall died at his home in Helena on Nov. 15, 2010. He was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Las Animas, Colo., to Juanita Foote Hall and Herbert C. Hall.
Richard E. Wall
Richard (Dick) E. Wall of Helena, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Dec. 3, 2010, at St. Peter’s Hospital. He died peacefully in his sleep after a recent accident accelerated his progressive health problems.
Marie A. Applegate
Marie Alice Applegate, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2005. Marie was born in Billings on January 6, 1908, the daughter of George and Macy Klei. Marie married Crawford Applegate on January 9, 1925. They spent 57 years in the Helena area raising their family of seven children.
Jack T. Cottingham
Jack T. Cottingham, 85, died April 8, 2005. He was born Dec. 5, 1919, in Helena and graduated from the "high school on wheels" after the earthquake.
Edna G. Nelson
Edna G. Nelson of Helena, 78, died April 29, 2005, at St. Peter’s Hospital. She was born Dec. 26, 1926, in Helena to the late Edward J. and Bessie L. Duval Dunn and attended local schools.
Charles D. Seek
Charles D. Seek of Helena, 72, died April 29 at St. Peter’s Hospital. He was born August 20, 1932, in Minneapolis to the late Leonard W. and Hilda F. Seek. He was an accomplished artist and a contract painter.
Nell L. Wheeler
Nell LaVerne Wheeler died May 1, 2005, at Big Sky Care Center in Helena. She was born Sept. 6, 1923, in Conrad to Mark Bruce Wheeler and Isabell (Foster) Wheeler. By her request, no funeral services were held.
Joan E. Jones
Joan E. Jones passed away unexpectedly at her home in Helena on April, 29, 2005. She was born in Butte on May 14, 1932, the youngest of four siblings. She graduated from Butte High and attended nursing school at Scared Heart in Spokane before leaving to marry her high-school sweetheart, Gordon B. Jones, on April 16, 1955.
Gregory J. Boettcher
Greg Boettcher of East Helena, 43, passed away April 26, 2005, at St. Peter’s Hospital after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Vigil services were held April 29 at St. Cyril & Methodius Church in East Helena, and funeral services were held April 30 at the church.
John Paradis
John Paradis, 58, died early Friday, April 22, 2005, at St. Peter’s Hospital following a decade-long battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Proud father of three sons and beloved husband, John passed away knowing the love of his family, friends and many supporters.
David R. Zarske
David Rollin Zarske, 64, lost a long-fought battle with emphysema and a deteriorating injury at his home in Helena.
Joaquina P. Lovely
Joaquina P. “Jo” Lovely, 78, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2005. She was born April 15, 1926, in Fort Bragg, Calif., to Joaquin Joseph and Hazel Perry. At age 8, her family and brother James moved to Klamath City, Calif., where Jo attended grade school and worked in the family's movie theater. During her high school years, Jo was active in cheerleading and tennis. After graduation, Jo moved to Benicia, Calif., and worked as a phone company operator. While in Benicia, she met Mitchell Lovely who was with the Coast Guard. In 1946, Jo and Mitch were married and moved to Montana to start their family and life together.
Juanita Kabalin
Surrounded by her family, Helen Juanita "Nita" Kabalin, 68, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, March 1, 2005, at St. Peter’s Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.
Eric M. Poland
Eric was born in Butte on Feb. 23, 1996, to Rick and Justina Mercer. A tragic incident occurred in April of the same year that left Eric in need of intensive loving care. He came to live with Joe and Conda Kopp for a period of time and was adopted. Eric moved with his mom and brother Casey to Helena in December 2002. He became Eric Poland on December 22, 2004.
Kathryn E. Macefield
Kathryn E. Macefield, “Katie,” left this world Feb. 21, 2005, to dance with the Lord in eternity after an extended illness. Katie was born to Eliza and Leonard Nevarez on July 2, 1919, in San Antonio, Texas, the 4th of five children. She was an outstanding high-school athlete in South Gate, Calif., in softball, tennis and golf.
Clyde W. Mayer
Clyde W. “Sonny” Mayer, 78, died Feb. 17, 2005, in Helena after a long debilitating illness. Clyde was born March 9, 1926, to Herman F. Mayer and Dora Gummow Mayer. He lived in the Sixth Ward area and attended Helena School. He married Bette Marie Boucher on June 5, 1947, in Helena, and they lived in the Helena area most of their married life.
Oscar M. Ouren
It is with great sadness and relief that we announce the passing of Oscar Marvin Ouren at the age of 87. Oscar died, after an extended illness and complications associated with Parkinson’s, on Feb. 23, 2005, at his Helena home in the presence of his loving family.

Donna Marlene Chamberlain, 73, beloved daughter, sister and aunt, died Feb. 17, 2005, from complications related to diabetes.
David E. Warn
David Eugene Warn (called Dave or Gene), 85, was called unexpectedly to be with The Lord on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005. David was born in Billings on Oct. 13, 1919, to Carrel Clarence Warn and Leona Lyon Salsbury Warn. He grew up in Helena with his brothers Lawrence and Donald. He was proceeded in death by his parents and brothers Lawrence and George Samuel Warn.
Horace 'Mike' Wilson
Horace "Mike" Wilson passed away in the VA Hospital at Fort Harrison on Feb. 23, 2005. He was born June 5, 1917, at Gilman, Wisc., the youngest son of Alfred and Josephine Wilson. He worked at his parent’s general store where the customer's nicknamed him "Mike." In high school, he started his own business hauling milk from local farms to the nearby cheese factory. In 1939, when his family moved to the Twin Cities, Mike moved to Eastern Montana to work at dry-land farming.

Engar Arne “Nels” Nelson, 86, passed away Jan. 28, 2005, at Big Sky Care Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 23, 1918, in Mandan, N.D., to Albin and Jennie Nelson.

Curtis E. Farstead, 73, passed away Jan. 22, 2005, in Helena. He was born on May 19, 1931, on the family farm in Inwood, Iowa, to Emil and Marie (Naglestad) Farstead. The family late moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., so the children could attend school.
