Larry L. DeFrance
Larry Lee DeFrance of Helena, 61, has passed away at his home following an extended battle with cancer. He was born June 13, 1943, in Billings to L.A. “Shorty” and Loretta DeFrance of Laurel. He moved to Spokane in 1948 when his Dad re-enlisted in the Air Force. Larry attended grade school in Laurel and Spokane through 5th grade. In 1954, they moved to Seattle.

Albert Clifford Rickard went home to be with his Lord on June 25, 2004. Although he fought a courageous battle with cancer, he accepted his illness and ultimately his death with amazing grace and dignity, always thinking of others and keeping his sense of humor. He made everyone around him feel comfortable with his illness. He commented near the end that this last year had been the "best" and the "worst" year of his life; the worst because of the cancer that would end his life and the best because he had family and friends around who loved him.

Lloyd F. Meyer, 82, of Helena passed away on June 20, 2004, at St. Peter’s Hospital. He was born in New Salem, N.D., on September 20, 1921, to Fredrick D. and Blanche L. (Ingalls) Meyer. He moved with his family to Montana in 1925 and was raised on a homestead in the Glasgow area. He graduated from high school in 1939 and joined the Army in 1941. He spent 30 years in the Air Force. He was a pilot and served most of his career in the Strategic Air Command.

Isaac G. Lowry, 25, of Helena died as a result of an accident Tuesday, June 22, 2004, near Silver City. He was born on Oct. 5, 1978, in Helena to Glenn E. and Elizabeth J. (Lattin) Lowry. He attended local schools and graduated from Capital High School in 1997.

A rebellious spirit who did not suffer fools well, Emily S. Stephens died June 21, 2004, in Santa Barbara, Calif. She was born in Virginia City on July 22, 1907, the oldest of three daughters of Samuel Vernon and Stella Baker Stewart.

Edna Rose Schatz, wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, 83, died peacefully on June 1, 2004, surrounded by her loving family at her Waterford home. Her extended Waterford family was by her side too. They all have been a big part of her life since 2000.

Gene Dunlop died April 27, 2004, at the Masonic Home at the age of 100. He was born to Nettie K. and Colin J. Dunlop in Eden, Mont., on March 31, 1904. He married Helen Lucille Robinson of Scobey in 1936. They had one son, William Eugene Dunlop, who preceded them in death.

Kathlyn (Billie) Helfert of East Helena passed on to be with the Lord on Friday, March 12, 2004. She was born in Dillon, Mont., December 31, 1918, to Hayes T. and J. Anson Baxter. She graduated from Beaverhead County High School, attended St. Mary's College, University of New Mexico, and graduated from Western Montana College.
