Archie "Ace" Rickett
Archie Charles Rickett, 31, of Miles City died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.
"Ace," as he was affectionately known, was born July 21,1973, in Tucson, Ariz., a son of George Rickett and Bonnie Swift. He moved to Miles City with his mother and stepfather, Jim and Bonnie White, where he grew up and received his education.
He worked for the Trinity Rail Services for nine years, before becoming a boilermaker. As a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermaker and Blacksmiths Union, Local No. 11, he crafted his trade throughout Montana and the United States.
Mr. Rickett and Amy Meidinger were married on June 22, 2002, in Miles City.
He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping, golf and riding his motorcycle. He was an accomplished rider, who often "built bikes from scratch." His family was important to him. However, he relished the time he could spend socializing with his friends.
Survivors include his wife, Amy; sons, Jonathon, Archie Jr., and Shane Rickett; his daughter, Madysan White; his mother, Bonnie, and step-father, Jim White; his father, George Rickett; his brothers, George E. Rickett, Chad Young and Robert Boager; and his grandmothers, Betty Rickett and Alice Swift.
Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive him.
His grandfathers, Archie Swift and Charles Rickett; and cousin, Michael Rickett, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, in the Grace Bible Church. Interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery.
Bullis-Graves Memorial Chapel of Miles City has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Lora "Angela" Shafer
Lora "Angela" Shafer, 77, of Miles City died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at her home in Miles City.
Mrs. Shafer was born in Wheatland, Wyo., on Sept. 9, 1927, the daughter of Leroy Miles and Elizabeth Brain Brown. She was raised and educated in Chugwater, Wyo., and graduated from high school there in 1945.
While attending school, she worked at her parent's restaurant. She then attended college at the University of Wyoming in Laramie where she went on to become a teacher.
In 1943, she met the love of her live, Andrew Shafer, but in 1944 he was sent to fight in World War II. Upon his return, they were married on April 6, 1947.
Mrs. Shafer continued working in the family restaurant until 1948, at which time they moved to the Jordan Ranch where they worked until moving to Montana on Oct. 1, 1958, to run the Jordan Ranch.
In 1967, she moved into Miles City for her daughters to attend school. In 1969, she and her husband made Miles City their permanent home. She began working as a secretary for the Custer County Health Department, retiring from there in March of 1990 after 19 years of service.
Mrs. Shafer enjoyed reading, taking care of her roses and house plants, playing cards, and doing crossword puzzles. She especially loved spending time with her family and her dog, Astro.
Her survivors include her husband of 57 years, Andy Shafer of Miles City; two daughters, Patti Jo Hagen, and her husband, Dan, of Henning, Minn., and Robin Jung-Schatz, and her husband, Wayne Schatz, of Dickinson, N.D.; seven grandchildren, Kristie (Greg) Fuchs of River Falls, Wis., Andy and Elizabeth Hagen of Henning, and Jason and Danielle Jung, Andrea (Ryan) Jung-Diede, and Whitney Stratton, all of Dickinson; and five great-grandchildren, Aidan and Soren Fuchs of River Falls, Jackson and Abigail Diede and Gage Jung, all of Dickinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Miles City.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Dorothy Mary Love
Dorothy Mary Love, 90, of Miles City died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at the Holy Rosary Extended Care Facility in Miles City.
Mrs. Love was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on Sept. 26, 1914, the daughter of John and Barbara Delaney Kean. She moved to Montana at an early age with her family and they farmed in the Miles City area where she attended schools.
In January of 1933, she and Paul Love were married in Miles City. She worked at the Miles City Laundry and the Miles City Creamery.
The family then moved to Washington where Mr. Love began working in the lumber mills and Mrs. Love stayed at home to raise their family.
After Mr. Love died in 1999, Mrs. Love moved to Miles City and had remained here ever since.
She belonged to the Women's Relief Corps in Aberdeen, Wash. Mrs. Love enjoyed playing cards, shopping and spending time with friends and especially her family.
Her survivors include two sons, James "Jim" Love, and his wife, Noreen, of Miles City and Paul "Butch" Love, and his wife, Lauren, of Olympia, Wash.; two daughters, Barbara Russell, and her husband, William, of Lacey, Wash, and Beverly Stillwell, and her husband, Lee, of Shelton, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; an infant son, Patrick; a daughter, Shirley; and a sister, Geraldine Vessey.
At Mrs. Love's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Loren "Cody" Eggum
Loren "Cody" Eggum, 45, of Forsyth, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, in the Rosebud County Health Center at Forsyth after a brave battle with cancer. He was surrounded by this family and close friends.
Mr. Eggum was born in Sidney to Sybil and Lloyd Eggum on May 12, 1959. He grew up in Richey with his three older siblings. The family moved to Forsyth in the summer of 1973 and he graduated from Forsyth High School in 1977.
In 1978 he went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad where he worked on the section and then in train service.
On Dec 26, 1980, He and Carla Fahrenbruck Hecker, also of Forsyth, were married. Together they had two daughters, Heather and Shaylin.
In 1990, Mr. Eggum met the love of his life, Teresa Haney of Bridger, and they were married Nov. 9, 1991. They have two sons, Marty and Isiah.
Mr. Eggum was a loving husband and father who spread laughter everywhere he went. He was always the life of the party, telling jokes and doing imitations. Mr. Eggum enjoyed attending his children's extracurricular activities and especially liked watching football and basketball. He also loved camping and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, four children, and parents, Mr. Eggum is survived by his mother-in-law, Helen Corbin (Randy); his father-in-law, David Haney; his sister, Terry Hrubes (Arlan); his brothers, Paul Eggum (Vickie) and Calvin Eggum; his sister-in-law, Mandy Haney; 10 nieces and nephews; several aunts and cousins; and Warren Wasserburger, Mr. Eggum's best bud.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Martin Haney; and several grandparents.
Dress will be casual because Mr. Eggum wasn't a suit kind of guy. The reception afterward will be potluck style.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, Feb. 26, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Forsyth. Burial will be in the Forsyth Cemetery.
